    (Death Valley California) Hello everybody My name is Shawn and I have seborrheic dermatitis. (Hi Shawn) For decades, I didnt understand why the traditional folklore of haircare didn't work for me. I would wash my hair and my scalp would still itch. I would grease my scalp twice a week. My scalp would be on fire from day 1. I was told everything from you arent washing correctly to I needed to change shampoo. Someone suggested changing my shampoo routine from every 2 weeks to every week. I agreed with that because 1 week with your scalp on fire is better than 2. So I'm washing my hair more and my scalp is dry less itchy and different itchy. "But you must be doing it wrong" so when I hit my 30s I started evaluating when the itching started to happen. And I noticed that everytime it was immediately when I started putting grease in my hair or if I use shampoo with oils. So I told people that and it became... "oh well you are using the wrong stuff. Use blue magic or sulfur 8 or________.... and I did. Same itch different bottle. Then I was told... "well you need some __ moisture___ use natural oils." So I spent hella dollars testing oil after oil grease after grease... and my scalp was still on fire and I was washing my hair "way too much". (Like every 3-5 days) finally I said to myself it has to be the oils/grease. Stop using it. Lo and behold my scalp stopped itching for days at a time. The big flakes went away. But i still would get itchy scalp on day 4. So I daily wash now... long story... but the essence of it is. Wet/Cowash/Shampooing daily + airdry = the prettiest 3c-4c curls/waves & a happy scalp. If I leave anything on my scalp... I will pull my hair out by day 2. Thank you for listening to my story. The coffee and cookies are being served in the back room. 😂😂😂😂😂

      Thanks so much for sharing! My journey has been similar so I’ll try washing more often. I’ve been concerned about not using any oils because my scalp gets ashy and tight, like the rest of my skin after a shower, but I guess it’s worth a try.

    • @sphinsa
      @sphinsa Год назад +1

      @@jjleb85 in the end I had to listen to my hair and scalp. My current routine is wet thoroughly with warm/hot water. Prepoo with conditioner. Wash and exfoliate body while allowing the stuff to sit on my hair. Wash hair with mild shampoo that cleans scalp without over drying. Rinse hair. Condition hair with slip conditioner (oil free or very low on list). Oil body while conditioner sits in hair. Rinse hair. Shake hair (head bang and left to right) to separate curls. Allow hair to air dry.

    I have suffered with SD, eczema and psoriasis all my life. Literally diagnosed at 3 years old. I have tried everything and rarely have days of relief. It is awful. And 5 years ago also diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis. My meds address my immune system issues. I have to keep my scalp oil free, moisture free or I am pulling 1-2 inch scales off my scalp and face. Thank you for this video. It is sooooo true and accurate!!!

    I've been battling with scalp issues for years. Then I tried sulfur 8 scalp therapy Scalp butter cream (n a blue jar) there is a whole line. I use it on my scalp after washing my hair and maybe 2 -3 times that 1st week. After that, I can go months without washing my hair when my hair is braided. FYI! it doesn't smell like the yellow sulfur 8. IT SMELLS GREAT!!

    I have had eczema for most of my almost 70 years. What has helped within the last few years is my going natural, using moisturing products, drinking more water, and using onion and garlic powder in most of my meals. I explained to my dermatalogist how drying the prescriptions were that she has me on and she recommended I use a masque instead of a regular conditioner. I also have improved with not using a relaxer or coloring and I get compliments on my gray hair all the time which by the way is almost to the middle of my back. Just wanted to tell Linwood how much I appreciate his advice and how professional and thoughful he is when explaining different aspects of haircare.

I didn’t know I should have followed up with a hydrating shampoo. My hair has thinned out so much because, for me, this has been a over five year battle. So thank you, again for doing this video.

The water in my town is very hard and my hair is not as shiny and my skin needs so much help to stay moisturized. I have seborrheic dermatitis, I avoid dairies and sugar because I noticed that it makes it worse, the thing is my sclap is so dry and I still get big oily flakes. My doctor gave me a shampoo with ketoconazole and I can go trough my week with no problem. The most annoying part is the smell, it can really get CRAZY up here. I can get really insecure if someone like lean on me or is behing me day 5 6 post wash day.
    One thing that also helps are supplements, burdock supplements (plant) that has anti- inflammatory properties and regulates sebum. I have oily skin and since I've been taking those pills I have less to no flakes and it also helped with my acne.
    I know how difficult these conditions are so I want to help ! do your research, talk to your doctor , try it.

    I am watching from canada. ❤ I'm a brand new youtuber myself, just trying to figure out solid routines. You video came at the perfect time and was excellently crafted. I have a combination of dandruff and excema dermatitis. I always have to use the tilted comb method to scratch off my flakes before I shampoo. once a month i will use head and shoulders, apply directly to the scalp, Let it soak and then follow-up with a regular shampoo, that's more hydrating. I am definitely going to purchase that thayers witch hazel. Question. When you're putting it in a spray bottle to apply to the scalp, do you dilute it with water? Is it as strong as acv? You have such a beautiful soul and spirit. Your content is educational and motivating. I have watched some of the hair routines you have done with your kids, would you be willing to do some more hair videos about toddler hair? My son is 2.5 and I'm trying to keep his hair routine gentle and simple, to avoid tears and stress 😅. Xoxox❤

    Watching from Illinois! Love you!! I just started going over your videos couple of days ago! Especially the ones on porosity and hydration! I was wondering if you knew if menopause has an effect on natural hair? If so, what is your knowledge base and take on it? Im having an issue with growth, retention, hydration, split ends, elasticity, dry scalp, pain on the scalp with slight manipulation of any combs, brushes ECT. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out the drastic changes but not getting any concrete results. My other question is about gut health and Mold growing in homes. Can these thanks have a negative impact on hair growth, retention, hydration, ECT?

    Great video as always. I used good shampoo but my scalp still itch. Lately I started to get dandruff. I had been to germ. They gave me shampoo and oil for the scalp. In addition they gave me a biopsy. Nothing. Any suggestions. Thanks

    I was trying to say I bleached it and then use toner and then color and it didn’t take well so I went and colored it again and that’s when it started breaking so should I cut it or just treat it and will it grow back
