When I read the news, tears just so many tears. A part of my life since age 12 and now in my 5th decade already, this loss is very deep. His voice and song writing gave me inspiration. At least now he is no longer in the throes of that damn disease which robs you of who and what you are. love you David Cassidy, your #1fan/friend

As a little girl I fell in love with David Cassidy as did so many others- he had a special sparkle that still makes me smile. It must have been confusing having such meteoric fame - I can't imagine how people cope with that. I think he was an honest down to earth person RIP

A lifetime's work that brought me such happiness. His autobiography is fascinating if upsetting to read, and also a great chronicle of that late 1960s early 1970s distinctive time in music and TV. Respect and much love David. RIP

When The Partridge Family first came on, I "fell in love" with David. His voice, the way he moved his mouth, his twinkling eyes, I was HOOKED. Every inch of my bedroom walls and closet doors were back to back and overlapping with posters and pics of David. From age 11-13, I spent every penny of my babysitting money and allowance on everything David Cassidy. I read and memorized everything about him. David Cassidy was the sweetest and most joyful memory of my childhood/tween years. I'm almost 59 y/o, and though I haven't followed him for decades, my heart is deeply saddened that he has passed away. It's been a very long time since I dreamed of marrying him (when I was old enough), yet tonight it feels like part of my childhood has died. Sounds silly, but I don't know how else to describe it. Pale pink frosty lipstick, light blue eye shadow, my first pair of hip-huggers, and David Cassidy. Thank you, David, for being such a sweet part of my young life.....from afar. I'm going to cry a little tonight.
nomopms1 I had the posters, Tiger Beat magazine pictures all over my walls, and yes, we girls dreamed of marrying him. I have cried today because you are correct, part of our childhood has died. I have the Partridge Family on DVD and a few Tiger Beat magazines left, my lunch box got lost along the way.
I sat front row at his EFX show in Vegas 1998, and was invited back stage, talk about a teenage dream.

Sorry about your mom. My mom died just about a year ago. It's sooo hard.
Thanks. What is so hard about David is that he was in his sixties when he was diagnosed with dementia. My mother was 88, so it really came as no shock with her considering her age. But then again, we never know. I lost my father at age 12 to a massive heart attack. He was only 49.
It's always SO hard to lose a loved one. I think the worst losses...in MY opinion, are the parent/child losses. It is so hard to lose a parent, and TOO HARD to lose a child.

I was very sad today to hear that David had died. He was one of the best singers in the business other than Barry Manilow. There will never ever be another David Cassidy and I have been crying all day long trying to manage my grief. Im a musician and i don't get to much into celebrities who have died because their no different than i am and death is part of life...BUT i have to admit Davids death has broken my heart i'm 55 years old so i grew up watching the partridge family ...i started playing Guitar at age 11 ..and like his playing he was much more than the partridge family as a guitarist...R.I.P David you'll be very much missed..

I am too young to recall the show's original run, but grew up with the reruns and liked the Partridge Family to some extent. The songs were catchy. It is sad David had so many downfalls later in life. I'm glad he is at peace now, my sympathies to his family.

He was a talented man who was one of the major figures in popular 1970s culture and whether you were a fan of his or not, you had to feel sorry for the man and what he went through during the final years of his life. Like most straight men I have no problem admitting that next to Elvis in his prime, David Cassidy was probably one of the most handsome men of his time. It's no big deal when us ordinary guys begin to get old and weather beaten, but it must have been hell for a guy like David Cassidy to look in the mirror as his looks began to fade, I guess there's a downside to everything. At any rate his troubles are over now and he's at peace. R.I.P.

Sad he always looked younger, but in his final years, health issues and age caught up. He looked 80 versus late 60's. Reminds me of Judy Garland. She had a rough relationship with her mom as well. May both RIp. His nephew Jack is an ex addict as well.
