It’s very hard to separate those 5 honestly, but ocarina was my favorite. But I played so much multiplayer on goldeneye. Banjo kazooie, mario64, smash bros were all amazing as well. Majoras mask, Mario party 1&2 were pretty awesome. I loved so many games on the n64. San Fransisco rush, Diddy kong racing was awesome, mariokart 64, perfect dark, I’m sure I’m forgetting a ton as my n64 has been collecting dust for over 20 years :(
@@Halfwit_The_Brave dang I almost forgot about how good the Mario party games were too!! And I think back then I actually liked diddy kong racing better than Mario Kart because you could fly and they had banjo as a racer lmao so many fun times, I played the heck out of mine too and unfortunately immune has been doing the same, collecting dust
Thank youuu for the tips on the controller. Saved it for me
One of my greatest achievements is beating this in 007 mode and unlocking all the secrets. And I mean in life, not just gaming, that was incredibly tough thing to do.
Yeah it was incredibly tense as well without all the modern save points. It made it hugely replayable for an FPS. Mark
Yeah. 007 mode was super hard. I needed months to beat it back then.
@@SwitchUpYt SO TENSE! I can vividly remember getting to the space shuttle control panel, setting it to launch and just waiting for the thing to go go go!! All the while staying crouched and keeping my weapon pointed at the top of the ladder blasting fools as they came up. Several times, I was not fast enough or had enough life to make it to the shuttle launch. Most of the time it was that giant N64 controller getting launched. Very durable! Way tougher than the Joy-Cons of today 😆
I do own the n64 controller but I'm glad there's a work around to play with the pro or handheld. I still play the n64 version and it's still awesome, looking forward to trying it out on switch later. Great video and congrats on 300k
Thank you for the controller setup!
Oh thank you for the controller remap! I was trying to relearn everything but that makes it so much easier and more intuitive.
Truly adore Mark's enthusiasm for video games! Congrats on the 300k! Best Switch channel!
Thanks! Mark
Brilliant to change the controls! Thank you!
An old friend called, his name is Eye, GoldenEye and I miss this so much
I don’t se 30fps as a problem it just adds to the retro experience 🤓
This is the first I've heard of it being on the switch. Already playing it haha. Soooo many childhood hours spent on this game.
Once I heard the Facility music I'm like "I want to play Goldeneye again", thanks for adding the controller mapping.
Id been looking out for this before Christmas, then life made me forget, I remembered thanks to Instagram and 25 years since I last played it I can still remember the first two levels like the back of my hand, so so good!!
I got a n64 shortly in 1997 after my uncle passed my parents had one in car and rented me goldeneye I was blown away how cool fps was on the n64 I already played countless fps on pc but having fps on a console was great
Gratz on 300K, and thanks for staying up late to cover this! Cheers mate, See yA!
It makes me sad this isn't available to buy on the Eshop
Yeah. Kinda sad. I dont have the n64 expansion pack thing. So i cant try this out. 😑
No kidding, especially considering how expensive NSO is to get N64 games
just get the family pack it's like 15 per person a year
@@chefzaanayazu why would I buy a subscription servies when they coild easily put onto the Eshop to buy outright?
@@chefzaanayazu yeah no thanks to a subscription. Nintendo really know how to rinse their customer base. They could of easily put this on the eshop but they didn't because they simply want more money from long term subscriptions. It's Scummy
This controller layout is perfect. Legend.
Cheers Tom! Mark
I personally didn't play this game when it came out (my first console was the GameCube), but it's nice to see this rerelease evoke such nostalgia and lovely memories for so many people :) That button remapping also seems like a game changer, so thanks for highlighting that!
So Goldeneye finally makes it to Switch, bout time.
I remembered playing Goldeneye for the first time while visiting my dad one weekend. I'd always die at the very beginning of the first stage because I didn't know what the hell I was doing but I liked the music and graphics. The N64 controller was truly an oddity of it's time. I eventually gave up on it and mostly played Cruisin' USA (definitely worth getting the expansion if that's announced) which in itself was a challenge but I end up beating it. Eventually I ended up getting my own N64 and played Smash Bros. ritualistically along with Diddy Kong Racing. I don't remember owning alot of games for it but it was gaming at it's finest.
This video came at the right time. Me and a few others had that same problem with the control setup. I’m glad you posted this so quickly. Edit: also like you I’m old enough to remember playing this every Saturday in the late 90’s. With the same 15” tv. 😂
Oh man, we lived in the golden age. Mark
You can use the 2.x controls by booting the game in multiplayer mode with a pro controller and a pair of joy cons. Hold the left JoyCon (P1) on your right and your pro controller (P2) on your left. Make sure you remap A,B,+ to your left joycon dpad and then set the controls to 2.2 Galore
Legend
@@SwitchUpYt yeah, oh whoops the heart went away
Amazing! Extra credit for getting up so early to play and test this
Ohhh damnn! What a nostalgic moment!
I was never able to play this game on the legendary N64 (I never was able to buy one) but I saw some friends play it or even on the game rooms (yeah those were a thing in my country haha)! And it was so revolutionary at that moment!
I'd definitely play this on my Switch with the Nintendo online subscription!
Thanks for the review!
Thanks for the advice when I will pick up the game on my switch
Thanks for the heads up I was all sorts of f#cked up when the button mapping was way off. Problem solved!
I have also mapped B to A, and Y to B - so it reflects the original N64 controlar layout and aids my muscle memory from when I was a kid
wish i could buy this separately on the eshop.
Just wanted to say thanks for saving us all alot of time an getting us on the right track to walk down memory lane
Makes my happy seeing that it is available. Old sods like me played it back in the day on the N64. I actually bought this along with Ocarina of Time when I got my N64. That said.. I will probably not play it again. Have found out that the whole nostalgia thing does nothing for me. I would probably play it for 10 minutes and then get bored 🤣 But I hope a lot of people will have fun with it.
Great work - this helps tremendously! 👏👏👏
Man I played Golden eye 007 with my mates back in the n64 days for hours on end. We used to tape a big piece of carton in the middle of the tv with 2 on 2 multiplayer so we couldn't see our opponents screens for max suspence and honest gaming. What a time, what a game!
The controller options you found are a godsend!!! Too spoilt by modern shooters to go back now 😂
Yes! The gong is a tamborine pitched wayyy down! I tried it myself and it sounds about right (Y)
Never thought I'd see the day 🎉 Sean Bean better watch out 😆
Thanks for the controller tweaks, I played the first level and it was interesting with the normal control schema
That’s amazing Mark. Thanks.
… the game… not so much… more… Meh!
Now this one takes me back. By far, the most played game from my childhood. 4 player in the Complex with Prox Mines = explosions galore!!
