GoldenEye 25 - Facility (Fan Remake)

- Опубликовано: 24 авг 2023
- GoldenEye 25 was a fan remake made in Unreal Engine 4 that aimed to release for the 25th anniversary of GoldenEye N64 exactly a year ago from posting this video, in 2022. This game still had two years of development ahead when it was hit by a cease & desist from MGM in 2020.
Ben Colclough is a 3D artist expert, so he focused the first part of development on recreating all the environments with a breathtaking amount of detail from the original sets and designs in Unreal Engine 4, moving from his past work in GoldenEye: Source. Yannick Zennhäusern worked on the audio design and music, creating a dynamic music system using Wwise to make the music unique to your own play style, giving a great cinematic feel to the already movie-accurate environments.
You can listen to the five hours and half long soundtrack produced by Yannick here - • The Janus Files - An E...
There's no download for the game itself. It's unfinished, and MGM could put Ben and Yannick in legal danger if anyone were to share this. There's also no point to share it since it has no gameplay value as shown in the video. No level plays from start to finish.
DISCLAIMER: I'm not involved in the development of GoldenEye 25. GoldenEye 25 is not in development since 2020 after being shut down by MGM's C&D letter. I'm just sharing these videos for historical value and appreciation of fan art.

MGM cancelled this and there's no way this will ever see the light. The developers obviously moved on from this.
Ben Colclough is working on a much simpler project called "Final Transmission", which aims to be a faithful recreation of the classic gameplay features of GoldenEye.
Yannick Zennhäusern is working on another project that will be announced in the next few months.
You can listen to the whole soundtrack here: ruclips.net/video/VQIwLjIT5JY/видео.html
Thank you a lot!
Good luck to Ben on his newest project and pray it doesn't get the C&D slap like G25 did, thanks for sharing this and good luck on your next mission 00G!
@@alexgeorge501It's an original IP, it cannot get C&D'd.
Why did they gun for them? Wasn't the game supposed to be free?
@@ronaldwoofer5024 Because they're silly.
This is how the N64 version looked like inside our heads back in the day
I remember 1v1 with my dad when it came out. My mum walked in the room and made a comment about how real it looked
So true.
Fuckin way overused
haha yeah exactly but even better!
No. Not at all.
MGM execs are the kind of bad guys Bond would go after
MGM probably one of the most pettiest companies. And they wondered why their company was failing
They sound like it too.
This was such a joy to make. The most fun I've ever had doing game dev. Yannick's soundtrack is stunning. He's surely the best in the world at recreating the GoldenEye movie OST feel. Also I want to shout out the real Dr. Doak who was very supportive of us during development.
I still wish it was possible to remake this game and I hope somehow the GoldenEye remake we all want happens someday.
As for me I took a long break from game dev for various reasons. Seeing all your support in the comments makes me want to get back into it though. Thank you. And thanks to Graslu for all his support as well. ❤
Hey to you too. Shame that Spies Don't Die never made it. Godspeed with your new project.
Man this gameplay looked amazing and the music was great!!
Your work on this was incredible. Thank you for trying to give us what every Goldeneye 64 fan wanted all our lives. I wonder if it's worth it for you and Yannick to try negotiating a contract and get the project back up and running. Especially now that Amazon has ownership.
I would happily follow your next project. For an unfinished alpha this looks wonderful, fuck the cucks at MGM. They're just mad you made a better prototype than their last several bond games.
Remember that atrocity Goldeneye Reloaded?
Were yall working on the Goldeneye HD remake that never released?
I love how the OST is like a mix of the game and movie OST
Oh my gawd zaddy chill!!
Kinda sucks that MGM shut down this project, it just goes to show that modders and people of the community can make a better version or better game of the old classics
Yeah, and it's because those people trying to make stuff like this are doing it out of raw passion, talent and creativity. That's exactly where the original Goldeneye 64 came from also, and why it became the biggest, most popular fps ever made and even made the already great movie go beyond popular Bond movie into cultural phenomenon territory. Businesses these days have not got a clue, they are utterly backwards and just lazy profiteers that do not understand anything, especially when it comes to creative media, art and craft. They don't even understand business really, only one little basic aspect of it... They'd sell a cow to buy a truckload of milk these days and think they were really clever and ahead of the game too.
how can they down a project if they dont know where its being made ? the developer can move to any location and develop it and then " leak " it onto the net , there is no stopping leaks and distribution
@@girlsdrinkfeck Good point actually, but maybe the real guy wants credit for his masterpiece, so they can take the credit away from him, since he'll get sued.
The bastards at MGM...they killed what could've been the perfect remake of an already near perfect video game of it's time. Thank you Gras for showing this to us.
yeap,stupid MGM 🤮🖕🏻
They only did that cause they weren't gonna make any money off of it.
What tools.
MGM can't be bastards. They are motherless. 🙂
As a consumer, I will avoid MGM productions. I already watched almost everything from them, so better is not buy or subscribe anything from them.
I will never forgive MGM for ruining this project. I was so hyped for it. Yannick nailed the music. It sounds straight out of the movie but with that game twist to it.
also other projects too...
Ironic as well cause they could’ve saved themselves from being bought if they helped with this project but nope they had to be assholes.
@@lewisgrant7622 because nobody must be allowed to play with their Intellectual Property™

It's called having rights and should be celebrated daily.
An adult wanted his own Goldeneye so, he created Agent 64. See? There's a lot of benefit into dropping your childish behaviour and get sh!t done like a man! Of course MGM shut down those projects! Only children would believe that anything else would happen

“You’ll never know how it feels to be so close and be denied” Well Tina, now we know 😔
💔❤️ Do true now indeed, great lyrics but such a sad end to what would have been a revisited masterpiece
Bono wrote that lol
God this is exactly what I wanted, I used to keep a close eye on the project before it got cancelled. The music was done by Yannick Zenhäusern, who did a terrific job emulating Eric Serra's original score.
Edit: Wow upon watching the actual gameplay footage, it is an understatement that Ben and Yannick were passionate about this. The mission select menu with the mi6 office as a backdrop, subtle hints of the goldeneye theme playing in the background, that “bong” sound effect. This game was a love letter to not just the fans of goldeneye but James Bond fans as well.
I dunno if you know this but Far Cry 5 multiplayer has all these maps available for gameplay. It's pretty cool.
Fun fact: Eric Serra also did the music scores for _Leon The Professional_ and _The Fifth Element._
Wasn't terrible it was gold
Why wouldn't you just watch the video before commenting? Just so you could say "::eDiT::"
I love how it looks and feels like the original Goldeneye from 1997 but at the same is clearly modernised. The care and attention to detail in this are unbelievable, the music sounds both like the game and the film, the gameplay itself seems to be a faithful re-creation. It's a shame that a project which clarly has so much love and passion behind it can be stopped due to some Janus at MGM
I hope the MGM Lawyers know how much money they passed on by shutting down GoldenEye 25 instead of just officially backing it.
They could've easily sold this for $60 & people would've been talking about this remake for years instead of just a month like the actual anniversary.
Thank you Ben Colclough & Yannick Zenhäusern for the work you put into this, it might not be playable but (almost) everyone appreciates the passion you put into it.
I guess to be fair, it's not as simple as I'm making it sound because GoldenEye has a notoriously complicated licensing deal between multiple companies along with paying all the Movie Actors whose faces were used in the game.
But I believe it would've been worth it.
Better than nothing. No animosity towards you, Graslu. Only the ones responsible for denying us the pleasure of experiencing this as a full game. I truly mean it when I say, Thank you for bringing this to us.
IOI interactive please take notes, this is the remake all Goldeneye fans deserves.
I love Goldeneye more than the next guy, but I want IOI's James Bond game to be nothing like this.
This is how goldeneye looked to our eyes when it was released 😌
I know right?
13 year old me playing Goldeneye for the first time: "graphics can't possibly look any better than this!!"
So incredible, the music the feel, this is like how GoldenEye felt to me as a kid haha!
Same I watched the movie before playing the game and was slightly disappointed at the time with the OST on the game, amazing now though :) just love the movie OST
Same I watched the movie before playing the game and was slightly disappointed at the time with the OST on the game, amazing now though :) just love the movie OST
@@mattjcwig Yeah the movie had a very good OST
Should have kept quiet about it and released it to the world like a bond villain. Ain't no one stopping it then.
Wow! what an insane amount of detail. This is the remake we needed. Such a shame it couldn't get released. At least we have this video to watch.
I must admit- the fact that the crosshair actually moves around the screen when in aiming mode really does elevate this above a remake made in any other game's mission builder. I didn't realise it had that feature preserved.
How satisfying it is to see the weapon move freely when aiming like the original!
why would MGM tell them to stoppppp.... this looks awesome!!!!!!!! I love that you love goldeneye as much as I do! love your videos
Greed, pure and simple, MGM should have worked with these guys, maybe even hired them like Microsoft used to with guys who made viruses and found loopholes in their systems
Of course, because they weren't getting paid! They should hire these guys, not pull a cease and desist. Shame, the fans always know what the fan base wants. Well MGM can go play with monopoly money, because I won't be giving them a cent after this.
@@ljaproductions07 i'd go incognito and just spread it for them doing that lol.
@@ItsJustAdrean HOW IS THAT AN OFCOURSE ?
IT SHOULD NEVER BE AN OFCOURSE
It's not even their fucking creation .
Watching this is an absolute testament that passion and talent makes a good video game, and not how much of a budget you have.
It's a real shame this was never fully realised. The music is absolutely outstanding, can definitely see that this was a labour of love.
It makes me sad that Ben and Yannick put so much effort into a project and then out of nowhere comes a horde of greedy bureaucrats tearing down something like the GE 25.
Imagine having this amazing remake with some extras and the possibility to play matches online with other players in different modes and levels as it happens in the original game. Sometimes, big companies really fail to see the potential on letting something like this treasure become reality.
I would pay for this! Hope more people keep coming up with These remasters like the Black Mesa one…
The sound effects is just so instantly recognizable
@9:39 The Seamaster has never looked better in a video game. The detailing on the bezel and bracelet, the way the face catches the light, the number markers glowing in the dark? This is phenomenal work, the designer knows Bond, as well as this game, inside and out.
How faithful the bottling room alone looks to the film is a testament to the passion and love Ben and Yannick have for GoldenEye.
One many people around the world share. I’m still not over the fact that this was taken away from a generation of fans.
I really wish MGM took this one seriously rather than giving the fan developers a cease and desist letter. This is something I would play on a Switch or on PC. Very detailed.
Man this game had so much potential.
This looks amazing :) They captured perfectly the style of the movie and mixed it with the beloved N64 Version.
I'm honestly more excited for decompilation projects than I am ANY official release/remake. The original GE/PD play amazingly well with mouse input, and the missions for those games are well designed, something lost in this age of gamedev/industry. What's even better is that the decomps will have things like RT mods, native input methods, updated UIs and assets, online functionalities, and more.
With that being said, GE25 looked great and all but the thing that caught my attention most was the audio design for mission cues - those kick some serious ass.
Man, this project looks and sounds amazing! Even though we'll never get this, it definitely peaks the interest of their other projects.
Thank you to the creators for this and to you Graslu for showcasing it!
piques* the interest
Thank you for sharing this and also for pointing us the way to the epic tunes! Appreciate you!
We will never forgive them for taking this away from the people who worked so hard on this.
This was something special and thankful we were able to see what we could.
Incredible work.
This would have been the biggest remake in the history of gaming. I wish Jandaq and MGM saw this potential and came in to reawaking this classic masterpiece. Ben and Yannick did a good job. Goldeneye fans and new ones would have been happier. I love what I saw thus far and thank you Graslu00 for your effort in making this video. Regards
I feel very lucky to witness the hard work these folks put in at last. Thank you for sharing!
Oh my god. It's incredible.
Blending the movie and the game seamlessly. Incredibly cool. We could've had something amazing with this project.
Wow, this looked really good, I also liked how the briefing folders were in Mi6, Man it really sucks that MGM stopped this, It would have been the best remake of the game.
Imagining what it would be like if it were complete. Graslu, it is possible that what will be presented here can cause a huge commotion in the GE community and also in James Bond and old FPS fans, to the point that MGM gives in to it, or even gives in to giant pressure of the fans to give their approval for the continuation of this project?
I highly doubt it, sadly.
@@Graslu00I believe that with the leak of GoldenEye XBLA in February 2021, the procedures began for the launch of GoldenEye GamePass (which is rubbish) which came to our misfortune, and also had the issue of Project 007 that was announced in the same year in that GE25 received the C&D. So, I believe that these manifestations of GoldenEye can make me think of something in the franchise, however, I understand and agree with your point of view when it comes to MGM.
I can't fathom why anyone would have a problem with a tribute video game being released about a movie from 1995! Coming up on 30 years here shortly!
This is incredibly well-made! The graphics, lighting, shadows, gameplay, interactions, attention to detail, the environment, sound, music, and the ambiance create this perfect storm! It's like "lightning in a bottle"! It's amazing, and the musical score is so awesome! It's from the original musical score, and I love it! Even the highly-detailed AK-47 assault rifles have that same sound from the movie too! Thank you so much for sharing this! It's such a shame the MGM had to cancel this, because it's just so good in everyway!
I know this isn't being made, but just for the fun of imagining... Add the nerve gas cannisters in the big loading chamber with pins you can shoot out to make them all fall onto the soldiers, plus add the little trolley of cannisters Bond uses to hide behind (naturally with one squeeky wheel), allow access to the underfloor vent tunnels Bond and 006 use in the movie (I noticed the grills are there on the lab corridor floor, superb!), make rigging the explosives the objective here with them on the 6 minute timer which you then need to reset down to 3 minutes, as in the movie, giving you just under 3 minutes to then get out onto the runway and make your escape in the plane - only then seeing the entire facility go up in flames. Many of these additions would also add a lot more variety to how you could choose to go about the level, with the options there to do things just like in the movie (at least on Agent setting with minimal extra objectives). This would also give an added touch of the hitman47s combined with the classic fps stuff.
Add two hands on the guns, proper reload animations (just like Far Cry 5 pretty much) and the full shadow and reflection models of Brosnan Bond in his black military fatigues...voila, absolute perfection and would actually feel like you are James Bond inside that movie. Just wow. I'd give anything for this to be a full and released game, and also my right arm to help work on it purely out of passion, since I know that movie and that game inside out! So impressed with this and so disappointed it was stopped.
Thank you for bringing this to us!!! This is incredible!
This is incredible... disappoints me. We could get a much better remake from passionate fans, than licensed ones, but it'll never happen for legal reasons.
I swear this music is straight from the movie!❤
I like that this “AK” is just full-auto, not three-round, and full auto when “ADS”. More real like that.
The memories this brings back, thank you! This was always one of my favourite levels and hearing the sound effects and seeing the gameplay again is so nostalgic, yet this version looks SO much better.
🚨🚨🚨The music, the remastery, the upgraded gun sounds are better, the original nostalgic sounds when shooting enemies is perfect, this is a work of art......no wonder it received a C&D......incredbile artistry Ben
To the developers and whoever made this video thank you so much😢. I feel like a kid again watching this and the graphics are beautiful.
I'm in awe at this game. The level of detail is outstanding and the reference to the film with the soundtrack is truly impressive. It really is the Goldeneye remake that we wanted vs what we actually got on PS3 etc. It's a real shame we won't ever see this game in full.
Es increíble, yo le tengo bastante amor a la música clásica pero esa música usada, es perfecta además que se mira asombroso! Gracias por traernos este video, Gras!
The attention to detail is unreal!
It broke my heart to see this notification and know that we will never see this release. Graslu00, will you show a level per premiere???
I'll have this premiere for Facility and then another one showcasing every level. The game doesn't have any fully playable level, so I couldn't do that even if I wanted unless they just were walk-arounds. The second premiere with every level will focus on the details of each map and a fly-through to show all the areas.
@@Graslu00Got it, even with the unfinished levels, I will be delighted to see these premieres. I hope they are relevant enough to show the GoldenEye fan community what MGM took from us.
Thank you SO much for showing this off. It’s an absolute tragedy this game will never come to light..
WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE THAT KEEP MAKING GOLDENEYE BETTER THAN RARE??
Legends man, legends!!
Visually stunning! So sad this will never get finished.
This looks beautiful
MAMA MIA!!! AMAZING!!!
PERFECT SOUNDTRACK!!!
the fact they were ordered a cease order from MGM and the other company shows how much heart they lack!!! this is the remake that the fans wanted
This is art. Beautiful work. I love how the soundtrack blends the film and the game. Amazing, even just being able to see this in action is something
Imperdonable lo que hizo MGM. Este remake fue lo más perfecto que habia.
The music is so accurate
Says a lot when a fan remake can surpass that of a game studio.
Still absolutely stunning how amazingly this looks and everything. Just so stupid that it was shunned instead of supported.
That's exactly how I thought video games would look like in the future back in the day, thinking something like GoldenEye II would come up 😃...😀...🙂...😶...🙄...😑
You thought they would look like Perfect Dark Zero? Weird... that game is bad.
Thank you for this remake, i think you did this for the fans, nice work.
Mr. I played this game at its peak in 1997 and it was wonderful, and this work that was done brilliantly by this guy or by a team made me go back to the years when I played, I even got emotional because I was so faithful to the game. Tell us what we can do to make this project move forward. I'm Brazilian and we love this game, we're passionate about it. Congratulations on your brilliant work.
Hello, I'm glad this project moved you emotionally. It was made by Ben Colclough and Yannick Zenhäusern. Sadly this project cannot move forward as it was shut down by MGM themselves, the right owners.
This looks so good for having had a coulpe of years of work left.
Thanks MGM.
Mega Gluttonous Mongrels
The OG Facility music was insanely good but I have to say, this version is equally as good! What a shame this could never be finished :(
That was by far, the coolest and most amazing version I have ever saw of a game. I loved this. Well done 10/10, down to every single little detail. Very impressive 👏👍
on one hand MGM is well within their right to do the whole C&D thing but after seeing this it's so, so hard not to go "goddamn it i wish they approved of this fan project"
This is awesome. I wish it was able to be fully developed. Love your videos.
This is actually exceptionally well done.
That fact that MGM had even the thought of shutting down a harmless project and made them take everything down enrages me. I was so excited for a full fledged campaign remake we could've got last year. If I was head of mgm I would've allowed this to continue hell I would've funded it. When people do things like this, not only does it turn people away from their company, it also makes them look butthurt like Nintendo and Disney. It's such a same we can't see the final product of this. Although I don't have a good enough pc to play it, I certainly would've contributed to it in some way.
MGM missed out on a golden opportunity. It is sad for the fans. This is my favorite game of all time. What could’ve been one of the greatest remakes of all time.
It's such a shame this had to cease production. The attention to detail is incredible, looks just like the movie. Yannick did an incredible job on the music as well.
This is the best thing ever!!! Keep up the excellent work!!
Sadly there's no more work for this. MGM shut it down.
What would have been a great remake, atleast we get a little something to remember it by
absolutely amazing!
Is always tough seeing a project fall like this
I do love that they used the classic sounds of the soldiers being shot! I played this game so much when I was younger, I actually knew exactly what sound each one would make as I shot them based on the sound made by the first guy to be dropped. This game was epic and I wish we had gotten a remake like this!!!
This is beautifully done
I’m sad development was forced to stop but I’m honoured to see what could have been. A delight on the eyes and ears!
The watch face even lights up in the dark!
I really wish we had got the chance to play this Goldeneye Remake. 👍🏻
Looks excellent
This is the goldeneye we need today!
Wow this is amazing. Such a shame it was shut down. There was so much potential here. GoldenEye 007 on N64 is one of the best games ever made. I wish it would get made just like it was originally with todays graphics and mechanics. Looks like that is what this was. Thanks for sharing.
This is really nice! Great soundtrack!
The set dressing in this level really makes the Facility feel like a real place. Fantastic attention to detail!
I wonder if it would ever be possible to just release the walkable environments - I know that an MGS remake which got shut down was able to do a similar thing.
10:06 The definition of awesomeness:
Hahahahahahahhaa! Seriously, the tuning he used for that moment of the soundtrack is heavenly!
Damn, these guys did an OUTSTANDING job with the music. It has all the right melodies and timing of the movie.
Real shame MGM shut it down.
Oh my god that music is AMAZING. This would have been incredible if MGM hadn't decided to be assholes and kill it in the crib.
this fan remake still look great and thanks to mgm for c&d it - instead of collaborating with the team to release it on pc, ps4 and xbox one at the time.
hopefully ge25 team comes out with their own 1st person shooter and hopefully they implement what the fans of n64 goldeneye said what they wanted in their previous ge25 videoes before it was taken down.
OMG, this is so beautiful!!
It would have been a perfect REMAKE
This would be the Best remake for a Game, adding 5 more extra levels based in some movies, 10 new weapons and some new characters and missions, Omg, I would pay to see that
