@@hybrid32494 it is exactly why we LOVE nitro. You want to do a run, but, you dont know why, there is always a problem to fix before and make your car great again ! Hello Hybrid, during this time I rode with the jato and the double brake system, for 10 minutes it worked really well. And then, return of the problem! the plastic softens and the small connecting rod twists. So, I made the switch with YOUR SYSTEM and I'm testing it tomorrow.

whats up bro! The dual disc system is great, btw if you flip the brake cam with the dual discs it's even better. The person who told me about this repair is running the flipped brake cam and the dual disc system. 2-speed baby with better brakes now!!! lol..
whats up bro! Thanks man! This was a long time coming, finally the nitrogang has figured out the JATO's Phantom Brake problem, lol. I will never loose to an ARRMA because of brakes ever again!!!! LOL.
Wow this is a big deal Nitrogang boss! I must do.this to.the Jato 3.3 on the fridge imediatly! The one tank i ran through it the brakes were non existent! Mystery solved! Rcmaxgang will be waiting for your rematch at the track! 😎🤘
hey bro! Yes man, it took the NItrogang a while to figure this creative brake fix out. Thanks to another person who gave me the idea we can keep making Nitro Great again!! You can see how the stock design is just CRAP, it's like the engineering dept took a week off that whole time and say, "WHO CARES". Well we got it figured out!>
Haha, hey bro!! Well, im glad ppl r just making their jatos great after watching this video, but ofcourse if traxxas called me up id have a little chat too. Hahsha
I ran a Traxxas Jato for many years absolutely love that had a few mods that I did to it like I flipped the wheelie bar over and put a brace to it so it would be more stable in a wheelie and for my brakes I had bought a twin disc brake kit for it but even then it still wasn't the best I did the brake lever mod it helps but was still a pain in the butt to get it slow down I always had to get the car to stop by sliding it sideways down the street
Looks like Traxxas could of also used a taller break shaft thus making the cam lever higher where the snap in rod end can be under it Or simply flip it!!! 😆. Sometimes you just gotta put your thinking cap on to perfect flaws where engineers missed. Great job bro!. 👏👏👏
what's up bro! that's right. We all doing some great teamwork, it's not easy taking on KILLER X-MAXXes that wanna take my t-maxx out, we all burn nitro together!! Now I will be back to challenge that arrma infraction and I won't be blaming the brakes, lol.
That's awesome bro. I don't know why I didn't think of this myself but I bought the double disk brakes from Hot Racing. This mod works just as well as the Hot Racing brakes and doesn't cost anything to do it. Oh well....you win some and you lose some. Nitro Gang 4ever!!! 2 Speed Baby!!!
Hey bro, I've been fighting this JATO brake problem for years, as we all have, lol. BTW you can still do this mod with the dual disc system, in fact the person who told me about it runs the HOT RACING system with the flipped brake cam. Although I think that's just overkill, you know. Now we all know, and if you ever get another JATO, you know what to do!! Yell 2-speed Baby and Flip that Brake cam, ahah.
I haven't even ran my jato cause of this problem I got a upgraded brake disk and that didn't help at all I'm gonna try this out thanks for the info man
hey bro! I can guarantee you this fix will work for you. The dual disk brake system can still be used with the flipped brake cam, so no worries there. But ye, I also don't see how the brake cam can even move with the stock configuration, even with the dual discs, if it gets obstructed by the trans case, then it's over with. NItrogang!!>
Yea man me and my buddy were trying to figure this out man he was telling me u were dropping a video on the jato bake so when I woke up this morning and see that u posted it I was super stoked man. It's my day off so I'm gonna tinker with the jato and go burn some nitro. ###nitrogang##
@@nikkreid6701 HELL YES BRO!! Do this and let me know how you find it. Best thing is, it's free, works great and you don't need any optional parts. Meanwhile people are installing modded brake systems, powerfully servos, and yet all that does not matter. ONly flipping the brake cam system does.
I had a Traxxas Jato for many many years the best way to get it to slow down is to slide it sideways down the road also a dual disc brakes for work very well they help a lot but no matter what you do the the Jada will always suck at breaking
Traxxxs jato HACK. Should be the name of this video. Awesome job. Bro. Nitro gang always has some really good tips and tricks to keep nitro on top of the RC world.
whats up bro! Good idea, I will try to edit the video's title to include your suggestion, it's clever! And ye, the Nitrogang put out heads together and figured out a way to get one step closer to destroying the ARRMAs on the rc track, that's out common purpose, haha.
whats up bro! Thanks man! This was a long time coming, finally the nitrogang has figured out the JATO's Phantom Brake problem, lol. I will never loose to an ARRMA because of brakes ever again!!!! LOL.
Thanks for the great tip!! Just got a Jato and didn't even get through the first tank breaking it in before the stock disc exploded. Picked up the hot racing dual disc setup, and I'll definitely be flipping the cam levers.
glad to hear it bro! Yes, this fix is totally awesome, I can't believe the rest of us have not figured it out until now. Let me know how it goes, we need all our JATOs to hit that 2-speed and also come to stop so they can do it all over again.. NItrogang!.
In addition to that....remove the spring from the servo arm and install a fuel tubing to give the servo a firmer connection to push back on... this is like a multiplier to this already great mod!
On mine even after doing this I need to set the brakes so when the throttle is in neutral the brakes slightly engage that gives me a better chance of slowing down; I don’t do a free glide when I get off throttle and it is going to wear the brakes faster but on this model I think that’s a good setting to keep under control when you are going 50+, and want to decelerate or prepare to corner, i’ve got to do some more testing in a big parking lot
hey dude, I've recently come up with an even better Jato brake mod, in addition to this one. What you need to do is remove the spring that is on the linkage near the servo. You don't need that spring at all, it just lowers the movement of the brake cam. I replaced mine with 2 nuts (they are non-compressible), works much better. Try that, you will see the engagement is much better.
Get that arrma 🤣 I also modified my linkage little dif but I have the hotracing dual pads! well much better the brakes are horrible stock but nice job got think outside the box you Cleary slowed the issue! 🙏
anytime I can make a Nitro Better, I'm happy!! Thanks bro! Now lets all find ARRMAs to race and make they stripe their diffs, just what they deserve at this point for what they are doing to the Nitro scene. JK. Nitrogang!!.
Traxxas should hired you as a nitro tec fixing there flaws one my favorite nitro of all time wish I had gotten one back in the day but I might buy one soon #nitrogang 🔥🔥🔥🔥
whats up my dude! Get a JATO, you will be happy bro! Literally has no flaws anymore after the brake mod I did. You can always claim it's the fastest nitro out there right now and is faster than at least 95% of all RTR electrics right now. BTW I sent this video to traxxas, they told me to buy a TRX4, I said SUCK IT!! JK...
Hey bro I’m glad you found this video. this free mod has literally saved tons of bad Jato brakes and I will never lose to an arrma in a race again. Lol. Anyways im at taco bell right now its about to be chalupa time.
Nice tip bro! I will made this conversion in may jato. And you prove be a good guy mentioned this tip is from other guy! That's tips will make improve nitro!
hey my dude! The Nitrogang is in all of this together, that's why I made sure to give the guy who told me about this the CREDIT. We can't all be experts at everything right, lol. Anyway, lets keep making Nitro Great again! Do this mod and I can guarantee you the brakes will be much improved. Also much less stress on the Servos since brake cam arm isn't being twisted until it's nearly ripped off.
@@hybrid32494 That's is the right point for make the nitro great again. I will make this mod this week and send a video. Thank's for sharing I will pass this video here in Brazil.
hey bro! You got it! Thanks for the update on that, I'll make sure to keep making nitro great again by making the JATO's brakes actually work lol!! Nitrogang!!.
hey brother! Let me know if this fix helps you out, it should. This is a 100% free and easy solution to improve the movement of the brake cam, the hobby store will only tell you that you need new parts and upgrades for the brakes, but they are incorrect.
hey man! Major congrats on your JATO order, you're gonna love it. You gotta check out my other jato videos, they will blow you away. This brake fix works great and I've not had any issues since. BTW, on a new Jato the stock brake setup might be ok, but over time it will get worse and worse, that is when you need to do this brake flip.
would you mind trying this? I think the fuel line/spacer that is on the linkage at the servo horn is overstressing the brake assembly and that might be why it is flexing. Try butting back the stock spring on the linkage and tighten down the adjuster screw until it has only one millimeter of play.
ahaha, glad you liked that bro! It's totally true right. What I'd like to see is a fair match between my JATO and one of these arrmas. Ofcourse fair would mean the arrma has to run RWD only and not use any AVC. I guarantee you the jato would destroy it.
hey dude! You got it! Super happy this fix worked for you! Its nuts that traxxas does not make all JATOs with this brake setup, cause it actually works and there is no negative compromise.
@@hybrid32494 yeah, it works great now, before I would run it, one or 2 laps, and it would work, and after about the third lap, it wouldn't catch anymore
whats up Mikey mike!! Nothing better than a free fix, it took some time to get to this point, but the collective NITROGANG mentality has worked and now we will never loose to another ARRMA due to bad brakes ever again!!! NITRO WORLD ORDER baby!!!.
I got got my new jato broke in yesterday I just made a new video and I talk about you in it. Nitro world Order. NITRO WORLD ORDER. I tighten the brakes a little bit more and it work when the disbrake goes out I replace it on my old jato and it work
The cam is lever is still bending. Its cheap plastic, delrin who knows but its got the same flex as the a arms will have. I replaced with aluminum, and the other other lever and it was so much better. Eventually when you add aluminum parts to other areas it increases the weight enough that you have to install the dual disc set up. Even then it flies and they lock up and it keeps flying lol
hey bro! Yes, the Cam lever still bends, but it actually applies breaks in this direction. That bending isn't due to hiting the side of the Trans Case, so it's fine. You know what I'm saying. Ofcourse if eliminating all bending is the goal, then yes, you need the aluminum brake set from Hot Racing. But I will tell you the brake setup with the flipped cam is more than good for most purposes. IT locks up the wheels anyway, so nothing to worry about. Nitrogang! Thanks for watching bro...
Glad to have helped you man! This problem has been haunting me for years, we finally figured out the solution without spending any more money, this is the money we can use to buy MORE NITRO!! ahaha. Nitrogang!!.
hey buddy! how you doing! Check out my newer videos on the JATO, you will see some terrific running video. Anyways, there is a huge difference yes. The Jato is a 2-speed, has the 3.3 and has a completely different chassis layout. Jato is the fastest new RTR nitro you can buy.
hey bro! Glad to have helped you out! Now lets make nitro great again by challenging electrics to races and ripping them, just how I'm currently doing! ahaha.
hey bro! You got it! Let me know how it works out for you! I'm doing long terms testing right now. So far I'm at a couple tanks of fuel and nothing negative to report other than I can yell 2-SPEED BABY even louder and FASTER than ever before, ahaha.
hey bro! Surprisingly nobody has shown up to race since, but I will tell you that many people have done this mod so far and all have confirmed that it works very good. THanks for watching bro.
thanks bro! I'm always coming up with some new elements to put in. This time it's the "NITRO HEAD" floating around, ahahaha. Gotta enjoy making your own videos, you know.

What's up bro? The thumbnail looks sick! Good work! Are you still planning on doing a break in video for the nitro rustler? I've been waiting for it to come out for awhile lol
hey my dude! Glad you liked the thumbnail, those take me the longest to make, im kind of a thumbnail perfectionist, lol. Anyway, good news about the nitro rustler break in - that is gonna be tomorrow's video. I have already given the rustler back to the owner and it's running fine, just has the typical terrible brakes that most of those models have. Still need to figure that whole thing out.
whats up bro! You got it bro! Dont worry man, the Nitrogang will never give up!.. Nothing they can do to us. BTW I'm working on an amazing HPI Super Nitro video right now,..
That Jato looks fast, but, I don't know if it has what it takes to dethrone the Arrma infraction? As you mentioned, depending on the gearing of those infractions, they can hit 80MPH. I love the smel and sound of nitro but, it cannot compete with the fasterr rev rpm of electrick motors. Only time will tell I guess if II'm proven wrong. If anyone can do it, is you.. Good luck on your next race.
hey my dude! Yes, the 1/7 arrmas are substantially faster with the top speed pinion, it's really a question of how long it can do those speed passes, cause form my understanding it's about 2-3 minutes worth until you have ESC failures or thermal cut-offs. Then again they cost about double the JATO when equipped with the proper LIPOS they need. But I will tell you this, if any of them want to show up with the AVC turned off and running only RWD then the JATO would DESTROY them in a normal race.
@@hybrid32494 ive got a dodge dakota that could out run a lambo if they pull 4 plug wires and start in 4th gear......how would it be a fair race if someone rolls up with a box stock infraction and has to pull a driveshaft lol
Now that is an interesting idea!! I can easily make it happen. For now I'll run this as it is for long-term durability testing. But in reality you just need a basic servo horn with a bearing or a bushing in the middle that can move freely. Might be a couple technical issues but it's 100% possible. NItrogang is always thinking!!!
Hey I just bought one of these I do believe it's around the same year model Traxxas Jato 3.3 that you have in this video I bought it used with a 3.3 T-Maxx well everytime I go to hook a battery pack up to the Jato the battery pack double a batteries get real hot I know that's because something is wired wrong do you have any advice trying to get both of these back on the road I got the T-Max up and running and shifting through both speeds 2 speed baby and of course as soon as I do two of the tires blew out I'm guessing because both of these nitra's have been sitting in a garage the guy told me both of them ran which is funny because the Jato motor barely moved over when spinning the flywheel I poured a little fuel in it got it lubricated and working again obviously have not started it yet because it's when I hook a battery pack up to it the previous owner must have something wired up wrong I don't know if something is wrong with the jst plugs going to the receiver or if maybe they wired them wrong and cross them over somehow that's usually the only time batteries get hot
hey bro! whats up! I can x you some good advice on how to do it and where to start. First thing you need to remove the transmission itself from the car, then it will be easy. There are just a few screws on the bottom to remove and the linkages, then the trans will drop out. Once you do that you will see how the system is mounted, I highly recommend you just reference the exploded parts views from the traxxas site bro. Its easy once you remove the trans.
I was starting to wonder if you were ever gunna do that or not. I sent you a pic of mine awhile ago. Truley is night an day difference tho aint it? I dont think the hott racing disc would stop that good
hey brother! Oh ye, totally huge difference now. I can't believe how great the brakes are and no negative side-effects at all. And ye, you really don't need any better brakes than this FLIP MOD, cause at that point the thing would be overkill, the wheels already lock up as is. Nitrogang!!.
@@hybrid32494 it really makes you wonder about traxxas. Ive sent them emails an pics myself and nothing not even a auto reply. They must just not want to spend the money on research to do it for themselves and see that its not only a reliable mod but actually gives the jato some chance in slowing down. Its deff a black eye to the jato but aye alls forgiven the 1st time you lock em up at 50 and they lock like they should have from the box. Thanks again for always makin that killer nitro content. Feel bad for anyone with a jato that dont watch this video or figure that mod out. The jato will stop better then a rustler if you finesse it. Thatd be cool to see a braking comparison on nitros. Like what stops best. My bets the slayer if it dont front flip.
whats up my dude! haha, yes, that's some classic BUFFY music right there. It's honestly a great sounding track right! It's mystical and yet energizing, just like when the JATO hits that 2-speed baby!! ahaha.
thanks bro! Now the Jato is actually drivable. It's taken me years to find a fix for this, thank god!!!. Let's now all find some ARRMAs and race them, that's my plan for tomorrow ,ahha.
I just replaced brakes. My servo moves fine. I noticed the brake cam lever barely moves watching your video I notice yours moves way more than my car. Is this a bad servo ?
hey my dude! Yes, you need to flip the brake cam around to the other side. Watch this video and you will see that if you flip it, it will move much more. I have done this brake flip mod on all my jatos, its the only thing that helps. BTW the servo is fine, if the throttle opens, there is no reason why it should not be bale to apply brakes.
@@hybrid32494 I did flip the linkage but no fix. When I disconnect the linkage the servo moves strongly. As soon as I connect it barely moves the lever. Makes no sense.
What are you running for your EZ-Start module for the starter motor? I see a 2S lipo in there lol. Also what do you run in the car for the receiver power? AA’s like stock or a 6V rechargeable Nimh battery instead? It seems traxxas left a charging port coming off the power switch to recharge a battery when its off or to you as a fail-safe trigger possibly but most likely to recharge like the Revo Nitro had from the factory..
hey man! That should normally never happen, I've never had that happen to me and I've owned 4 different Jatos over the years. Make sure your brake assembly is correct, sounds like you possibly too much heat from friction causing it to melt.
hey bro! The best thing about the JATO is it's good at almost everything, to a degree. But yes, it's mainly made for on-road driving. If you recall back when they first came out Traxxas designed an all new wheel and tire for them, mostly made for high speed on-road driving. For me, I mostly run mine on-road because if want off-road well for that we always got the JATO's brother, the T-maxx baby!!!
@@hybrid32494 it’s so ironic you say that, I was driving my Revo 3.3 (nitro 4 ever!) and it kept sticking and flipping because it’s supposed to be off road. My Jato isn’t yet complete, yet once it is, the brakes shall be ready!
hey my dude! I see you've watched a few of my vids and are a new sub, thank you! Let me answer your question, this brake flip mod is super effective. My brakes lock up perfectly with this setup and I did not do the brake upgrade. I dont think you need the brake upgrade, just do this flip and you will notice the brakes are fine.
hey man! Glad this video helped you out. BTW I've developed a second way to improve the JAto's brakes. You need to remove the spring on the throttle linkage directly near the servo and replace it with something that is NON-COMPRESSIBLE. Like 2 stop collars or something like that. That spring is useless, and makes the linkage work even worse.
Hey you gotta jato so I wanna ask you a question I put new drive shafts on it and when I lift it off the ground the back tires lock up it's like they shafts lock on the wheel housing. Maybe you can help me figure this out thanks
I hear you bro! All they had to do was flip it, it looks less symmetrical but the brake cam itself isn't obstructed anymore. You have no idea how long I have been trying to fix the brake issue, and it was just as simple as flipping it all.. lol. Nitrogang!>

hey bro! There is a link to the servos I use in this video. I just put the link in for you. In most cases those servos are quite good, reliable and metal geared. Also they cost 20 bucks for 4. There are more powerful servos, but these are good enough for a rustler chassis.

Traxxas engineering department needed to pay someone a few dollars for that amazing brake repair !!!!!
Nitrogang always works better as a team my dude. Sweet fix.
what's up bro! that's right.

Dude that is a slick trick! I’ll be doing this to mine ASAP
glad to hear it bro!
I appreciate it now my Jato can stop really good now
Definitely solved the problem? I’ll try on my Jato as soon as I can
On mine even after doing this I need to set the brakes so when the throttle is in neutral the brakes slightly engage that gives me a better chance of slowing down; I don’t do a free glide when I get off throttle and it is going to wear the brakes faster but on this model I think that’s a good setting to keep under control when you are going 50+, and want to decelerate or prepare to corner, i’ve got to do some more testing in a big parking lot
hey dude, I've recently come up with an even better Jato brake mod, in addition to this one.
Hell yeah ! My 2.5 Jato wants to thank you !

@@hybrid32494 just Got it today Love this machine goes right next to my Tmaxx 3.3 and classic.
would you mind trying this? I think the fuel line/spacer that is on the linkage at the servo horn is overstressing the brake assembly and that might be why it is flexing. Try butting back the stock spring on the linkage and tighten down the adjuster screw until it has only one millimeter of play.

Great video, have a question are there any videos that explain how to replace brake pads on a revo?

hey bro!

@@hybrid32494 thank you. I will try you fix tomorrow. I hoped a new disc and pads would be enough
Is there any way to keep the brake pad from shearing off of the plastic holder?
hey man! That should normally never happen, I've never had that happen to me and I've owned 4 different Jatos over the years. Make sure your brake assembly is correct, sounds like you possibly too much heat from friction causing it to melt.
2 Speed Baby! good job.

I feel like the jato is meant for more on road than off road even though it’s a stadium truck
DO you think this hack in addition to the carbon steel brake upgrade is a good idea??
hey my dude!
