    Just now watched this video. I have a 2.5r Revo that I put a 3.3 in rite after traxxas brought them out, anyway the 3.3 sat for about 5 years and after a little wd40 to get the carb slide to move it fired rite up just like yours did. Still running strong never replaced the carb just new glow plug and air filter awesome Motors.

    New 2023 Jato day 2 steering servo is locking up full right when engine is on. Vintage Revo 2.5 same thing so I went to a single DS servo. I did the Hybrid brake mod it made a huge difference. Yep Traxxas nitros are night and day from the 70s-80s nitro cars. The ez start and reliability is great. Where I live the temps and humidity change by the hour. If you dont understand carbs and needles you are screwed. Nitro is not for the everyday noob unless your weather absolutely never changes.

    If you flip the arm 180 degrees so it's facing the engine and flip the swivel upside-down,the brakes work a lot better. The arm won't hit the transmission case and give it move movement for better stopping power. 👍

    If you love rc either way, then you have the best of both worlds. I enjoy both elec/nitro But if you’re not mechanical inclined and not willing to get your hands dirty or brain storm a little even if you seek help then yes both can be discouraging. Once you learn how then work and you don’t mind working on them then you’re in the right place just always be mindful of the hazards that come with. An accident can ruin any fun. Enjoy the hobby or anything you into. 👍

  • @monte19770
    @monte19770 2 года назад

    I wanted to comment on the tuning. If you have enough fuel coming into the engine on the high speed needle and plenty of blue smoke but it's still not idling down like it should, this usually means that the low speed needle needs to be opened up just a tiny bit. In doing so, will provide more fuel at low speed and the idle will drop. Don't confuse the idle stop screw for your idle adjustment. The idle stop screw is to set the gap between the carburetor venturi and the slide valve that opens and closes when you pull the throttle trigger. The gap should be at 1mm or slightly less.

    • @monte19770
      @monte19770 2 года назад

      When you had it running it was idling high. If it does that again, try opening the low speed needle just a bit but allow it to warm up a little before you make any adjustments

    If it ain't broke don't fix it. Brakes work good enough for you then you don't have to do the mod. Also since you adjusted throttle trim to open the carb more could be why the idle too high and also why the idle didn't go down when you backed out the idle screw. Throttle trim is holding it open not the idle screw. Just a thought

  • @jonvoogd511

    Your jato looks almost new wish mine looked like that. New ones Don't come with a wheelie bar I noticed. Yeah you have to maintenance both nitro and electric rc's especially if your not going to run them for awhile. Got to store charge your lipos or you'll have dead lipo's and you have to put after run oil in a Nitro and burn all the fuel out or you'll definitely will have problems getting them running the next time you want to run them. Both are nice to have.

    I don’t have a jato but it’s on my list of one to get all the places I check for them don’t have any but when I find one I’m getting one electric vs nitro they both have there plus’s and minus’s depending on where you run them in surrounding areas as nitros are kind of loud and could be a nuisance for some as electric is quieter so depends there both fun but durability wise I think electric for me just because it seems like I’m working on nitro cars more than my electric cars

  • @Pswans509

  • @hybrid32494
    @hybrid32494 2 года назад

    More proof that you cannot Kill a Nitro! I'd say your brakes are great cause your Jato seems to be almost new, after a little while the brake cam block will wear down and so will the disc, then you will notice poorer brakes. All my Jatos have been used, so it makes sense why the brakes suck. Anyway, terrific points on the Right Way to Deal with Electrics! DOne right, electric has more risk and also takes lots of ability and problem solving. Nitro is easy in my opinion, it's the same fuel in all cars, while electric use specific Batteries based on scale often times.

    • @earlmoorhead5555

    I think both have there challenges. electric are faster and quieter. people hear the noise and they don't like it. I love the sound of a nitro. and the smell. mmm. Nitro fuel is expensive. in my 2.5 t maxx with a brand new engine I was going through a lot of glow plugs. there not cheap. so I'd say in long run nitro costs more to run. but electric is more neighbor friendly. got my old school Hpi savage almost ready to rip. carb boot and 20% fuel should arrive tomorrow. so nitro weekend coming up. yeah hoo

    I tend to believe that people prefer electric over nitro simply because they have absolutely no experience with tuning a nitro engine and that they are messy. Tuning a nitro engine is only half of the enjoyment of owning a nitro rc car. I could say the same thing about electrics but there really isn't much to learn about them. Plug and play. Another thing about nitro is I'm concerned about the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) complaining about the emissions from the nitro engines. If you haven't noticed, there are no more 2 cycle dirt bikes being sold brand new and I strongly believe that the EPA had something to do with it. However, you can still find that 2 stroke weed trimmers, leaf blowers at Home Depot or Lowes for example. I find it odd.
