- A warm tribute to the much-missed stars of British television and film that we sadly lost in 2022. Stars featured include national treasures Bernard Cribbins and Leslie Phillips, soap legend June Brown and all-time great Dame Angela Lansbury.
To all of the stars we lost in 2022, thank you for the memories and the years of entertainment.
Heartbroken at Bernard Cribbins’ passing. I was lucky enough to meet him in 2017, and he was amazing, had a brilliant sense of humour, and was SUCH a great guy, very humble and down to earth. He’ll never be forgotten. 💐
I remember him in The Railway Children and for the song Right Said Fred.
When you grow up watching these people you always remember them as they were the last time you saw them on TV. In your mind they never get old and die but sadly, they do. It makes me feel ancient just thinking about it.
We are all like we are on a moving stage costume tableaux from left to right.
Some are the lead actors who leave their mark and are held memory, and others are just extras that have a walk-on part or are part of the the blurred backing in a crowd scene.
I bet the BBC regret wiping all those early tapes of the stars at the start of TV so they could use them again. That was true immortality and gone forever.
I've a feeling we'll never see the likes of these again. From a different, more caring age. All that can be said is a simple, 'thank you', to each and everyone of them.
Well said John.
Barry Cryer was one of the sharpest, most prolific comedy writers that the UK has ever known. For over sixty years he wrote for the greatest British comedians. He really is irreplaceable. There won’t be another. Shalom and RIP Mr Cryer.
Also wrote for big American names like Richard Pryor.
Thank you. What a shock . I grew up listening to watching all of the deceased. May they RIEP.
What a lovely tribute. Properly narrated with none of this fake computerised voiceover nonsense. Thanks very much 👌
Many thanks!
All great talents. What a year. Robbie Coltrane dying really saddened me. We loved "Cracker". Very sad for their families. RIP.
We lost a lot of legends in 2022. RIP to all of them.
RIP is a meaningless epithet. They are dead, not resting or sleeping. Their life has ended. The individual is dead!
It’s a respectful way of appreciating a dead person and has been for many centuries.
“.Requescat in Pace”
I didn't know every name, but I knew every face. The enrichment, entertainment, laughter, interest, information etc that they brought to our homes makes their loss so great. The world has lost so many jewels.
This was exceptionally well done. Respectful, informing and loving. Thank you.
Much appreciated.
Who was the actress who appeared in hi-de-hi was she Ruth Madoc? (short black hair)
Very sad to see people who you grew up watching passing away but it's also nice to know that almost all lived to a good old age and seemed to be very active in their later years.
For all those who have passed - with Love, for all the joy you gave us!
Shocked that so many famous people had passed away last year. A lovely tribute, young man! So calm and respectful. Thank you.
Thank you!
I am from the USA, and am just discovering many of these incredibly talented actors.
It has been a joyful introduction.
May those lost RIP.
It's been a bloody bad year 😕 for losing tv and film stars. Leslie Phillips had been ill for some time and Lovely Bernie was getting on but Ruth Madoc? Unfortunately, the current generation of actors and so called comedians can't hold a candle to those we've lost this year. They are irreplaceable.
Yes, it's not been a good year in that respect has it? Hopefully next year's video will be a lot shorter.
I understand your comment, BUT. the current geneation will think the same way when THEIR favourites reach the end iof the road too.
@MrDaiseymay Maybe but where's the Leslie Phillips or Sid James or Bernard Cribbins of today? Rowan Atkinson? He's extremely talented but does anyone actually like him? Apparently he's not a very nice person to know. David Jason of course but Where's the Tommy Cooper or Spike Milligan of today? Our generation were lucky we had real stars who's the best now? Bill Bailey's good, Coogan? Another one who's too up his own backside. We loved our comedians and comedy actors I can't see this lot being appreciated in the same way.
@@fus149hammer5 Spot on and well said. There are none today of the same calibre to replace those we have lost. We were lucky to have lived in an era of drama and comedy giants.
@@MrDaiseymay The difference is that younger people now have a zillion diferent social media 'stars' and 'reality' stars and the like to follow, of various levels of merit, with a strong correlation to 'long tail theory' if you get my meaning, so only a small percentage of the pipilation in 30 years time will remember any one particular celeb when they pass on, whereas 30+ years ago there was only a certain exclusive group of celebrities who were the cream of the crop by defintion of being good enough to make it onto one of the country's four tv channels, and as such they were known by many millions at once, and therefore now mourned by many millions. I'm only 9 but I definitely feel we're losing legends at a far faster pace than we're discovering new ones.
A brilliantly presented tribute to those that enriched our lives.
Many thanks.
It's a really good reflection on some sadly missed stars.
Not only year 2022 not only many tv stars but also the sad news about our wounderfull Queen,I still finding very hard that our wounderfull Queen no more with us ,But also many others stars go over many years,❤
Wow, I never realised how many wonderful actors, entertainers and presenters we lost this past year. Lovely tribute mate.
Many thanks.
I second that. Travis was a blow out of the blue.
I agree and I recognise every face,
I did not know half of these wonderful actors passed last year and brought us So much enjoyment.
Thanks for putting this together, I had no idea this many had passed on. It was very sad ,the end of an era, people who were part of the landscape in my young life. But then, that's life isn't it.
What a delightfully apposite and quietly knowledgeable commentary. It could not possibly have been done better, and did all the departed full justice, without going over the top at any point. Thank you. You are a welcome rarity.
Many thanks for your kind words. Much appreciated!
That was the comment I was going to write........ A true tribute. Thank you Stuview TV. Perfect.
@@patagualianmostly7437 Thank you!
Not only is this a beautiful tribute to so many deeply loved stars we’ve lost but the voice over information about each person is a much needed and beautiful touch. Thank you for your great work. 🙂💚
Many thanks!
@@stuviewtv exceptionally welcome 🙂
Thank you sad to say these actors I have enjoyed watching are now gone . May they all Rest in peace .
It’s so nice,to hear a real voice,pronouncing words properly.Thankyou for not giving in,to AI.
I always find this the saddest part of the new year, remembering all those people I grew up being entertained by, it makes me feel old. And the best two words too describe Leslie Phillips should undoubtedly be ’Ding Dong’.
R.I.P to you all.
You're not wrong.....
Well hello there
More fantastic memories of sadly missed stars of the past thank you.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to put this together in such a respectful way. As someone in their fifties I grew up with most of these people and still remember the opening credits to the first episode of East Enders! Thank you all for your service and entertainment over the years RIP
Many thanks.
Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end when everything was done in the best possible taste as Kenny Everett would often tell us in his alta ego Cupid Stunt, whose clothes some reason kept falling off.
Bernard Cribbins was a huge favourite of mine
An absolute legend and a true gent.
The final few of a wonderful generation of actors is leaving us. I'm heartbroken. Many, like Leslie Phillips, have been with me since childhood. R.I.P everyone of them.
Haven't lived in the UK now for 25 years. But because I was born and grew up there knew of nearly all of these. And am old enough to remember most of them as young. What a sad loss. Some not much older than me. A trip down memory lane to times as a kid watching a lot of these actors and actresses with my parents. Both long since gone. Time moves on for all of us. At least those remembered in this video leave behind a legacy of their work for future generations. Sad but nice video.
Everything changes, and rearranges, yes everything changes even - - me. Lyrics something like this when Ertha Kitt appeared for the last time on stage knowing that she was ill and near the end of her life in a fabulous red dress. It was one of the most moving things I have ever seen. 'And I cried. Oh my God how I cried, to quote the lyrics of another song, what's going on?
To all the stars and Legends we lost in 2022 thank you for all the memorys, the laughters and keeping us happy. We will never forget, R.I.P to all you Legends and Icons.
@Andrew_koala Undertake and learn the ability to not be a pretentious plank who disappears up his own supposedly superior arse at regular intervals.
Pay attention to detail and come back less full of yourself.
Thank you for this wonderful tribute, like many i didn't realise we lost so many stars r.i.p xxx
Oh my, I had no idea that "Hagrid" died. He was just 72. This came as a shock to me.
It`s so sad. The older you get, the more people you lose. Slowly but surely they slip from this life into, hopefully, a better one. R.I.P. all you wonderful people who have brought so much fun and entertainment into our lives.
THANK YOU for taking the time to create this respectful and informative video.
I wish you A Happy New Year 2023.
Many thanks and happy new year to you too!
Excellent compilation and presentation. We lost some true, irreplaceable gems.
Many thanks. Too many treasures gone in 2022.
What a great piece. Thank you 🙏🏻
All sad but Dennis Waterman passing away was the one that I probably felt most deeply.
Where does time go 😔
My favourite of Dennis Waterman was On The Up.
Dennis was part of the fabric of our lives for 40 years.
Yeah Dennis passing hit me too....in with the bricks and mortar of our childhood's and youth....loved minder (used to watch it with my late mum)....makes you think of your own mortality when all your icons are going....watching minder now is a little different...
@@martinnevey7258 Love that comment about sharing viewing experiences with parents.
@@danieladams9950 thankyou.....some of my abiding memories are watching the TV with my parents...ie getting to stay up late to watch the bond films...minder and aufwiedersien pet ( spelt wrong sorry)with my late mother.....very simple pleasures but still the best of times
So many stars, I didn't realise that some of then had died. Such pleasure they gave a generation. All will be missed.
what a lovely and respectful way to say goodbye to the wonderful actors.
Thank you.
Lost but never forgotten,Very sad when we lose all our stars singers and TV sports stars loved them all ❤
Thankyou for this trip down memory lane.
Thank you so much for this. I no longer watch terrestrial TV and a few of these deaths passed me by. British stars are often a bit overlooked on tributes. So many have given me great memories over the years and will be sadly missed.
For me it's Bernard Cribbins. He was the best Jakanory reader, like having a favorite uncle come round to read stories to me. 🤗
Dear Bernard, the voice of so many childhoods.
Was great in the film Mouse on the moon.
Superb storyteller!
Thank you for including June Brown, June was my partners dearest and oldest friend for 37 years, she was a beautiful soul, inside and out, for us who knew her personally , we were more than blessed to have her in our lives. and she was nothing like Dot Cotton the character she played. She brought genuine love to all those blessed enough to call her a friend.
Lovely words. It's so nice to hear what a genuinely warm person June was.
Wow a huge trip down memory lane.lost legends immortalised with their outstanding contribution to entertainment. RIP ALL..😢
Very sad to see so many much loved actors pass, but at least the vast majority made it well into their 80’s. They will all be missed.
I doubt we will see talent of this calibre in the future.
The overall longevity among British actors is astounding.
Angela Lansbury died last October age 96. She was born in England and then moved to America.
Yes! Most well into their 80s and a few in their 90s. Amazing!
Thank you so much .l really enjoyed seeing all those actors who have given us so much pleasure
Glad you enjoyed it. Many thanks for watching!
yes so many that gave us many childhood memories growing up back then - Cheers folks. R.I.P.
RIP all will be missed!! Also Olivia Newton John who died in August 22 she was born in Cambridge England!
We certainly lost some great entertainers in 2022, notably Mr Cribbins for me, he was ever present since the 60s or so it seemed. Thanks for pulling this together Stuview TV.
It's always sobering to reflect on those who have gone in the previous year, but you did this in an excellent and respectful way. They shall all be remembered.
What a wonderful tribute. Most of them I was aware of but not all. Thank you for doing this.
An awful year, we lost some great stars but I will always remember us losing Bernard Cribbins the same day as my Mum.
So sorry that you lost your mum. Sending best wishes to you.
So many of these have been part of our lives for so long you start to realise that your now so old that your own days are numbered.
Bernard Cribbens was the only actor to appear in both one of the Peter Cushing Dr Who films as a policeman who accidentally travels to the future, and in the actual television series, where he played Wilf, the grandfather of companion Donna Noble, in the modern Who series, which was his last role.
I thought he was still on kids tv after who.
@@samsprrr3548 The last thing he filmed was scenes for the Dr Who 60th anniversary special.
So, so many and so much talent. Great memories, thanks for this great compilation.
All of a sudden I feel really old! I'm 64.
Thank you for a beautifully presented tribute to these stars. So impressed with the production, once again, thank you.
Thank you very much!
To all actors n actresses that has passed away, may your all RIP
Gosh all of those people who we grew up with .we don't realise that age becomes death. All off who we have sadly lost we will never forget thanks to the great internet we can press a button type in there name and watch our childhood actors and stars God bless all of who we lost 2022 Ur gone bit never forgotten
Thank you so much for such a lovely tribute. Some many wonderful memories with these great actors & actresses. Hope we don't lose too many this year. Jane in New Zealand. 🇬🇧🇳🇿
Many thanks Jane.
What a sad year for these lovely people passing. I’ll never forget Peter Bowles performance in my favourite sitcom Rising Damp!
I remember Bill Turnbull talking about his treatment at Royal Marsden for cancer, round about the same time my husband was also being treated there. RIP Bill, you helped us through a dark time despite your own struggles. Hubby lost his own battle, but just seeing the article you made really helped us feel that we weren't alone.
Very sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. Sending best wishes to you.
What a lovely video. Thankyou. The past few years have been awful. We've lost so many. I lost my father just over a year ago. So many greats and memories from my childhood. Gone but not forgotten. God bless them all.
Many thanks. Sending best wishes to you after the loss of your father.
@@stuviewtv Thankyou for the kind words. It is very much appreciated.
I can sympathize with you. The last of my late mother's nine siblings died of COVID-19 this year. I have no near family left now.
Beautifully presented thank you most of these actors are from my childhood but I loved them more as an adult rewatching old films and tv shows. Like the sweeney the bill porridge and many others still on tv now in2023.
Many thanks
Although this is a great tribute to celebs I grew up with 💓 I'd like to add Doddie Weir, Scotland rugby legend who died from Motor Neurone Disease. He raised a huge amount of money for MND sufferers. I give my respect to you all
Heart broken that we lost David Warner; he was one of my favourite actors.
Yes, he always seemed to be lean and fit
Yeah i always thought he was good
I had the great opportunity to meet and talk to him at a convention. Very kind, intelligent and talented. His career over the many years is nothing but awesome.
Very sad, i often watch clips of time bandits to see him, "thats a good question"
I agree
Thank you so very much for this tribute to all of the wonderful people mentioned herein. God bless them all.
Lovely that so many made it into 90 years plus.
Cheers Guys and Girls it was a pleasure watching you . RIP
They may be gone, but their contributions to TV, radio and stage will be remain forever.
2022 was a throughly awful year for the loss and passing of ALL of the familiar faces we see and remember with fondness here.... Requiescat in Pace 😔😔😔❤❤❤
Always sad to have to reflect on these losses each year but it reminds us how lucky we were to be entertained by these wonderful people.
Lovely tribute Stu. Keep up the great work.
Many thanks!
What a beautiful tribute. Some are surprises and some not so. All sad losses.
I agree that it is difficult realising the passage of time, and that our favourite personalities age also. I migrated to Australia at the end of 1971 ( 51 yrs ago) aged 14. Many of the faces I do not know or remember, but the ones I do were very much as in the old photos. Bernard Cribbins, great as Gramps in Dr Who, ( favourite show), but can anyone remember him singing "Right Said Fred" ?. God Bless them all and condolences to their families. Sue, expat from Derbyshire, in Adelaide, South Australia.
Bernard cribbing. I had the pleasure of fishing alongside him a few times. He was a true gentleman, also a excellent angler . A professional at all he done. Bernard R.I.P
Thank you for all your work, it was a trip down memory lane, lovely video take care and a happy 2023
Many thanks Michael. Happy new year to you!
👍 Thanks for the tribute compilation Stu, 😔
Sad to see, but I guess those of us of a certain age, who grew up watching them on TV & film and were household familiar faces, if not names, it's only inevitable that over the next decade we'll sadly see more and more passing 🥺
I'm hoping that next year's video will be shorter. So many great stars gone in 2022.
We all go eventualy :(
@@stuviewtv That was excellent, My Friend, and on so many levels.
The Presentation, voice, background music, and view were very respectful and set exactly the right tone. and this is exactly what is needed by any fan of British Entertainment because some Stars will slip through the net and people might be unaware that they are no longer with us.
Thank You..
I thought the same thing after Christine McVie and Kirstie Alley passed, I'm in the US, that we of that certain age are going to see the people we have always known of, go on their ways. I didn't know any of these British stars except for Angela Lansbury and Robbie Coltrane, but Hagrid will always be remembered and loved!
I’m watching these backwards, 2023 was awful, TV is just not the same, it’s all woken rubbish
tear in my eye to have seen so many of our greats gone, raising a drink to them in heaven
Such an awful year with some many icons and lovely people we’ve lost.
So sad. I grew up watching 95% of these people. Immense talent sorely missed.
It’s depressing .. we’re all getting old with them 🥲
when you grow up with these amazing actors. and see them going one by one. it's so sad.
Some wonderful people gone in 2022. All will be greatly missed. 😪
So many of my favourite actors from across a wide range of my favourite British shows . May they all Rest In Peace .
I work in a theatre and have met several of these performers, but I can honestly say that Ruth Madoc was a genuinely lovely person.
That's lovely to hear.
I always felt the same way about her.
Loved Ruth Madoc
Amazing woman her role in Hi de Hi
Was just brilliant
Sadly missed RIP
I had no idea she had even passed away until now 😢
I know she loved you.
we lose so much when these huge actors pass. at least we had the honour of them all passing our way, nice salute well done video.
Living in the States for the last 20+ years, I lose track of the actors of my youth and didnt even know some of these had passed yet I knew every one of them and the star roles they played. RIP.
A very well narrated video. Nice photos too. So sad to know they are no longer with us, but each and everyone of them has left us with great memories. I remember Barry Cryer the most, only because he lived locally (Hatch End / Middx) and I would see him on a regular basis. Thanks again for taking the time to compile this for us. 🙏🏼
Many thanks,
Barry seemed to be the go to person when you wanted a comment on the passing of a comedian or comedy actor. He was always on TV reflecting on the lives of the stars because he knew and worked with them all. Of course the day had to come when someone else had to talk about him in the past tense.
Damned sad.😔
great tribute im shocked at how many actors we lost im heartbroken
Yet again Stuview your work, this time showing an absolutely perfect collection of familiar faces we have loved and lost. I hadn't realised such a lot of them had passed. It brought a tear or two to my eyes, have to be honest! Thank you for all that you do! It means such a lot!
Thanks so much for your kind words. Much appreciated!
Nicely done, good words said about all the stars, yes they were all stars and sadly missed,
Many thanks.
Unbelievable list are true British acting and presenting stars I was brought up with from a kid far back as the 60’s…..I guess no one can live forever, but I have great memories of them all to cherish 😊
Wow I didn’t know the majority of these lovely people had passed away 😢
What a beautiful tribute to them all
Thanks to these wonderful celebrities for their services over the years
God bless 😢😢😢❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you
Apart from the first actor I recognised all of them, great actors and actresses down through the year of my life may they all R.I.P . Thanks for posting you done a good job here .
Many thanks!
This was beautifully done, and very respectful, thank you for taking the time to put this together. ❤
Many thanks.
Life is short, God Bless All ..
Beautifully and sympathetically presented. Lovely people.
Thank you.
😇Nice tribute to those we have lost in the entertainment industry during this past year. Luckily for us the audience, their movies ,television shows, music etc, will live on for many years to come!..........
Absolutely Alan.
Unless they are erased by bbc
many many times here in the U.S. , THANKFULLY, the BBC kept me home & out of the Saturday nite shenanigens via TO THE MANOR BORN, THE SWEENY, RUMPOLE OF THE BAILEY, MORSE, GOOD NEIGHBORS
So many greats from childhood and beyond. Hard to believe that many who appear on today's throwaway TV will reach such levels of national affection. Back in the days when the nation's TV programmes were produced by the nation for the nation and enjoyed by us all, as opposed to nowadays when global media companies churn out nondescript generic garbage with a "one size fits nobody" mentality, proof if ever it was needed that "more" doesn't necessarily mean "better".
Some moistening of the eyeballs with this vid, but a wonderful warm tribute Stu.
Thank you for this wonderful presentation of so many truly great people that have kept us all so wonderfully entertained for so many years. God bless them all
Many thanks.
