Ok 6K opengate is 5952 by 3968 (3:2) (in the s5II) 6K 17:9 5952 by 3136 5.9k 16:9 5888 by 3312 Cropping the 6k 3:2 to get 17:9 makes no deference than using 17:9 because the horizontal size is the same! 17:9 is always a bit much than 16:9 so that you can crop the 17:9 and get exactly the 16:9 in resolution! So if you do 3:2 6k to 16:9 it is bigger than the 5.9k because it will stay 6K! Just remember that 6K 4K UHD FHD define the horizontal definition, so when your crop is vertical no losing resolution! 3:2 serve to shoot anamorphic in an easier way, or keep the 3:2 make vertical content, that sort of thing
Love videos. Subbed. I am not really a film maker as i only do photography but i have been really feeling the itch. I initially looked at the sony, as it seems its the most marketable machine currently. But when i bumped into a youtube video about the lumix I instantly changed course. It seems that $ for $ the Lumix just gives you so much more for movie making. I have since put in a pre order for the 5IIx. Cant wait.
@@bensinger6655 I passed because micro HDMI and no 4:2:0 10-bit 6K (3:2) and 5.9K (16:9) , and now we have better autofocus. For $500 extra, it’s a no brainer
Just got my S5ii as well and really enjoying it. The autofocus is really not bad from what I’ve seen so far. I’m honestly enjoying CinelikeD even though it’s not a log profile. Yeah you lose a little DR bit it’s honestly not bad. I agree about the 6k 17:9 as well. It’s really nice that they included that as well with the 6K Opengate. Definitely feel the camera is jam packed with solid video features. I switched from Sony and so far no complaints.
We use to travel on horses, now we use cars.. no but seriously sometimes you can't operate focus because you have to make sure something else is good..
I sold my a7IV for the S5II, and am really happy with my choice. Yeah the AF is not as good in all scenarios, but other than that the S5II blows the Sony out of the water.

Love the look of this video. The S5ii is so good.
Thank you !
Open gate is good for 9x16 framing and for anamorphic shooters that want a 3:2 readout. The latter is the main reason I'm getting the S5IIX.
No reason to get an s5iix for this, the s5ii also does this.

@@aram.v Do you mean the original S5? The S5ii and S5iiX are basically the same camera besides all intra recording and body color.
@@bensinger6655 I was talking about passing on the S5 because of those reasons.

Which SONY did you have?
Honestly thinking about doing the same. Currently have the a7iv but I’m doing more video with that requires both 16:9 and 9:16 formats
Traded my original s5 for mark 2 today 🎉 they had trade in bonus for extra £400 so it was easy switch for me. Lost no money on my s5
Where
“I’m in focus” HAHA
About AWB, is there anyway to lock the AWB? I dont mean setting it up before the shot, just letting awb decide but lock it after you start shooting.
yup, the S5 Mk2 has Awb Lock an can be assigned to any button

Have you tried 1080 50p Full frame?
I have not. Perhaps I should test those modes
@@noahusescameras Yeah..that would be good.

I agree
Noah, don’t take pain killers before you make a video! 😂❤️
