I really enjoy my Rival MT10, the esc is a 60a but not programable. The servo is pretty crap in these, a number in the US had servos pack up very quickly. I to had my servo with problems within a very short time & changed it out for a better servo. The brakes on the Rival are quite strong & you are not able to turn them down with programing, in the US lots complained about to strong braking tipping the truck forward to much. Razor RC has a video on how to turn the braking down, he found a way how to alter the braking by fooling the esc with settings. Well worth watching to see how he done this. The Helion Avenge front suspension arms are exactly the same and can be fitted to the Rival MT10 too. They are much stronger than the Rival's stock ones ( but out of stock at most places at the moment in the UK - Nov '20) Also the soaking of stock arms in WD40 over night in a sealable freezer bag will make the plastic far less brittle. But I am pretty sure the Trx-4 is a better option based on all the videos I watched, but I could be wrong.
The Rival MT10 is the same truck as the Helion Avenge with a few changes like the wheelie bar redesigned. That's not a bad thing at all as the Avenge was a pretty good truck as well, as i understand it Firelands/Helion went out of business. So Team Associated bought or got the rights to produce this truck using the same moulds etc. Some suggest the plastic used on the Rival MT is a harder plastic & can break more especially the lower arms, i also had a front arm break as some others also had this happen on fairly light bashing. I manage to get hold of a couple of sets of Helion Avenge lower arm sets for under £10 per set of 4 arms, which don't seem to be available anymore as these were old stock in some shops. The Avenge arms are said to be a more forgiving plastic, i know the Associated Rival arms are more expensive at around £22 for 4 arms. Personally i would still buy another Rival MT10 as they are great little trucks at a good price
@@TomleyRC Yes i see so many video's where parts get broken on cars, a lot of the time they blame the car for not being strong enough. put it on a track racing you'll know why AR (Associated Racing) is great. Team Associated is real, they race. grass always grabs and rolls. 250 bucks ready to go is an awesome deal.
@@TomleyRC definitely. 3 diff AWD cars hook up really nice. back in '86 the RWD RC10 kit, radio, charger, and 2 stick packs cost me 425 bucks, then apart again for a 45 buck full ball bearing kit, then ProLine rims+tires, then Andy's pan and A-arms... a little money pit! on the upside its still together and still runs great almost 35 years later
Really nice video on what seems to be an excellent basher! Top marks for VFM too. This puts more expensive RCs to shame - I wonder if they are selling it as a roller...
I see quite an obvious weakness on this truck, the exposed servo arm and link on the underside at the front, I would definitely make up my own part to close that up completely to protect it. If that hits a hard edge, which it will, playtime is over.
Another great video man thank you for the price variations including Oz would be good please cause now after watching i have to go to Google and find out it looks like an awesome little package.
Interesting model 🤔 and I agree about the landing if you land on four wheels you are ok but again depends what rc you drive. I have see another video of yours that you drive a wltoys in this scate park and you landed so perfect so many times but something broke. I don't remeber what broke but your landings was perfect. That's why I say the rc will survive depends what rc you drive even if you land on four wheels. I think the wltoys is a purple and white model.
The esc is a rebranded hobbywing SC10 esc and I believe it's 80A. I got the WP-SC8 120A esc in my 2WD Slash and it's a bit over kill but it's been great so far on 3s
@@kenmastersmaster It's not, but I can understand why he'd make that mistake. Reedy and Hobbywing have recently been using the same OEM for their ESC cases.
That is a class little truck! I need a 3s in my maverick phantom XT. Any thoughts on cooling the motor tho I thought about just making a vent in the body!
Hello, I'm RC player from China. I'm looking at a few models right now: arrma granite V3, teamssociated mt10 and arrma outcast 4S. I prefer arrma's car, but after watching your video, I think mt10 is also very good. I'd like to hear your suggestion. Is it better to choose granite V3 or mt10? Is outcast 4S coming out with a new model (V5)? Thank you very much. --By Google translation
Why does everyone swap out the deans plug. It works perfectly with 3s. I guess most people have the other fitting on their other trucks so it makes it easy for battery usage. Otherwise honestly there is no point swapping it. That's what I think anyway.
Looks twitchy like my stampede 4x4 was before I put a slash chassis on it. Super beefy arms on that thing! The lack of a center diff, optional or otherwise on the arrma 3s and 4s line is what's keeping me from buying one.
@@TomleyRC Yeah, I used to think that too... until I had a 6S outcast and started running 6S in my savage flux hp. The savage is the more difficult of the two, it was tough on 4S without a center diff, but on 6S with the center diff, it's still a lot tougher to drive than the outcast, which isn't easy at full tilt on bumpy grass. Sometimes it's hard hitting a jump at speed because of unexpected wheelies. If I didn't have the M2C chassis on the outcast, I'd consider getting a kraton chassis for it just to make it a bit easier to drive, now that I have had it a while.
This looks as though it´ll offer the most grins for your buck compared to its two chief rivals. One thing I don´t understand is why it can wheelie, given that it has a centre diff. I had assumed that, the moment the front tyres lost traction, all the drive would go to them and the wheelie would die in its infancy, but the evidence of my own eyes tells me I was very wrong! Is it, perhaps, a limited slip diff? I was very relieved to see that you found your GPS unit intact, by the way, and I´m greatly looking forward to the skate park video : )
Plenty of grip on the rear tyres, and the short wheel base. Along with the centrifugal forces on the spinning wheels. It's a little monster! I was relieved when I found the GPS! That's my most used item on the channel!
@@TomleyRC It´s a bit of a signature channel asset - everyone else bends down to fiddle with the car after a speed run, while you just check the speed on your phone like a boss : )
You'd think they'd have picked up on the thumb to wheel thing by now eh! Seriously wouldn't effect nothing having that shorter or more tucked back! I quite like this myself like that big rock more though Great price though pretty impressive that's fast on the 3s! I think my finger might push the buy now button lol
Hi I like your show coz people like me I got bugsta not brushless no I've got a big rock and a want to know when you jump it how do you keep it straight in the air
This was my first basher when I got into the hobby earlier this year. Drives really well but I must say, it is not very durable. Gear box housing are brittle and a pain to change, shell does not take a hard landing well. Parts are expensive, so look out for the Helion Avenge which is the same truck, but the parts are a lot cheaper. My advise would be to pay the extra and get an Armma Granite!
@Matthew Hayslett I agree, generally it is a tank, but I did jump it like a 1/8 scale and it did not like it. Also agree with the Granite shocks, that are rubbish, but the MT10 shocks also leak from my experience.

That truck is ok, we ran against it up at Dartford Heath bike jumps, the guy who had wish he had a 6s rc car, lol maybe good for beginners but once you go 6s there's no going back , I ran my Arrma SMR cross over between a Arrma senton 6s/ Mojave 6s and using Outcast 6s shocks . He had broken his truck and made some kind mod which was really good.
put it on a track racing you'll know why AR (Associated Racing) is great.
Team Associated is real, they race. grass always grabs and rolls.
250 bucks ready to go is an awesome deal.
Yes, I've seen some of their buggies, really nice! The front and rear sway bar along with the centre diff say it all really.
Damn dude, 2160 Resolution looks incredible.
Thanks mate.
Redcat kaiju is the best slept on basher for 2020 hands down!!!!
I've seen mixed reviews.... the same as this. But it looks good!
Really nice video on what seems to be an excellent basher! Top marks for VFM too. This puts more expensive RCs to shame - I wonder if they are selling it as a roller...
Yes... for the money is crazy!
i like it but i would be happy with one of those suzuki vans as i am disabled and cant get out to skate parks
The WPL's are good fun, and really good value for money!
I see quite an obvious weakness on this truck, the exposed servo arm and link on the underside at the front, I would definitely make up my own part to close that up completely to protect it. If that hits a hard edge, which it will, playtime is over.
Ooo seems like a nice rc car, but to expensive for me right now. I only have a 100 dollar budget lol. Maybe i can get it some yearst later
Get the Wltoys 14401
@@suhag1002 ok il be sure to check it out
Another great video man thank you for the price variations including Oz would be good please cause now after watching i have to go to Google and find out it looks like an awesome little package.
This thing would be a beast with the SC chassis and a 3660 4000kv or so. You could use bodys for the MT410 or similar trucks.
Look good with a wing on it coming out tailgate just give it that bit more length 😉
Looks great for the money. Not one I was aware of so thanks for sharing. Great vid Phil 😁
No worries Pete... really good for the money!
You know that truck Reminds me of the notorious short wheelbase stunt truck!!!
Thanks 🙏
The esc is a rebranded hobbywing SC10 esc and I believe it's 80A. I got the WP-SC8 120A esc in my 2WD Slash and it's a bit over kill but it's been great so far on 3s
Since when are reedy rebranded hobbywing???
@@kenmastersmaster
It's not, but I can understand why he'd make that mistake. Reedy and Hobbywing have recently been using the same OEM for their ESC cases.
That is a class little truck! I need a 3s in my maverick phantom XT. Any thoughts on cooling the motor tho I thought about just making a vent in the body!
Heat sink and fan are a must for 3s!
@@TomleyRC iv just got a fan for mine how do I power it? Was getting hot on 3s and bigger tyres haha
💯,, Going on my RC list,, ,👊😉
Thanks for sharing,,
Phil you mentioned a flex spray for the body - what’s that as shoe goo is a pain to apply. Good vid 👍
Yeah, shoe goo seems a pain to do. The flex spray is not quite as thick, but I'm sure it will help a little bit to reduce the body splitting
Tomley RC do you have a brand or can you tell me who makes it and I’ll give it a shot
I’m torn between this and the Granite 3s. Great video
Another fine report and video👍 thank you
you are the reason I ordered one of these a few days ago, thank you for all the different terrains you test on, appreciate it!
No worries, you won’t be disappointed!
I nearly bought one of these before my lasernut it's a very strong truck and size isn't everything 😊🤣🤘
Lasernut looks good
@@TomleyRC it's heavier than it looks
Hey Hey greetings from Califournia what do you think about the Redcat blackout XVEXBE buggy
Love it , thanks for showing this , haven't seen anyone else showing this ..................
Thanks Scott. Not many videos up of it form what I've seen
That looks like a lot of fun Phil.
It was fun yes :)
NICE to see a lincoln lad on here
Cheers dude. Been here a few yrs now. From Kent originally
I've got a tamiya lunchbox and a few fpv freestyle quads, wouldn't mind chasing one of your faster cars with my quad for some juicy gopro footage
Really nice video, was wondering what do you use for checking the speed? Just an app?
Thanks. SkyRC GSM020, it's a GPS module connected to your phone via an App
@@TomleyRC okay, nice. Will look it up. Thanks for the very fast reply 😉
any one know if its gonna be a version 2 this time soon? cuz im planning to buy it as my very first real electric rc
btw subed man u deserve more
iam thinking this one or the big rock ... what do you think ?
This would be my choice... money left over for a battery 👍
Very nice truck by the looks of it . very nice video 👍
Thanks mate
Hi, you mentioned flexi spray on the body , what make & do you think it's better than shoe goo❓🤔
If I'm not mistaken I believe those are the same tires my MGT 8.0 and MgT 3.0
Reminds me of my custom 6x6 videos sooo coool
Well of course. Arrma's one of those brands that's built in a Chinese sweat shop
They all are
Sound review buddy, I was torn between this & a maverick quantum plus MT , now there is a straight choice 😁😁😁
Maverick is better
Not so much into my bashers, but this appears very capable......
Yeah, nice little basher
😭yea it's sad though the day associated rebrands a china RC with the associated name on it. 😭
Yeah, but they made it affordable.... ;)
@@TomleyRC of course because associated didn't make it LOL!! 😜😂🤣
Shen RC haha... yeah good point.
Yea but Gil Losi Jr designed this truck for Helion
What are you using as a speedometer for the RC? Bluetooth connected to you phone?
SkyRC GSM020 + Phone App
awesome truck! might be my next purchase now lol
Impressive. I like this one. Good Job 👍👊
Why does everyone swap out the deans plug. It works perfectly with 3s. I guess most people have the other fitting on their other trucks so it makes it easy for battery usage. Otherwise honestly there is no point swapping it. That's what I think anyway.
1st RC, do you recommend this for LC Racing EMB-T higher for UK buyer mainly intending to run on grass?
Nice video dude 👍 I’ve broken a couple of arms and a front bumper on mine but great trucks for the price 👊😎
Yes, such a good price!
I soacked mine in wd40 4 times, haven't broken them yet dispute the cartwheels and back flip bad landings and an incident with a curb lol
@Matthew Hayslett Do you have a link to any in stock dude ?
Looks twitchy like my stampede 4x4 was before I put a slash chassis on it. Super beefy arms on that thing! The lack of a center diff, optional or otherwise on the arrma 3s and 4s line is what's keeping me from buying one.
Yeah, twitchy is sometimes good.... keeps you busy haha.
Very nice truck!! Thanks for share!! Thanks for share!!
Cheers dude
Looks nice but a Deans outta the box? Plans to upgrade that one?
Yeah...I'd have preferred an XT60 or 90 even.
@@TomleyRC get an adapter heat shrink the deans end then when warranty is out cut and solder xt60 or 90
This looks as though it´ll offer the most grins for your buck compared to its two chief rivals.
I quite like this myself like that big rock more though
Great price though pretty impressive that's fast on the 3s! I think my finger might push the buy now button lol
Yeah…. All transmitters should have thumb wheels
Such a sweet truck and what a bash spot where is this park pls😎
Lincolnshire
One is coming to my collection very very soon.
Nice!
@@TomleyRC I’ll be doing a video when I get it. That will be on my other channel
I’m now a proud owner of an MT10 ! 👍👍👍😀😀😀
Hi I like your show coz people like me I got bugsta not brushless no I've got a big rock and a want to know when you jump it how do you keep it straight in the air
I am going to have to grab one of these it looks incredible
Dam Can’t get this in Japan , mainly Tamiya here 👊🏻👍🏻
Cool RC and nice bashing
Thanks mate
King Cobra of Florida has it for 350$ might have to pick me one up!
Great vid again mate 👍🤗🤙
Thanks mate
Nice rig and cool video, looks pretty well thought out and its not a pink traxxas lol sorry i will stop it of .........soon lol
haha... if you lie Pink...you like Pink... what can I say!
