I am loving watching the various ways different channels are approaching these body swaps. I will say yours seems like it will have the most authentic look as you are not setting the body on top of the 2015 rocker panels like B is for Build is doing. Keep up the great work Scott.
Dude,, you do it right. Not very many people do the work the way it’s supposed to be done. I am a far cry from a professional, but I do work at Ford and the way you disassemble these vehicles is exactly the way we put it together in the factory piece by piece. I appreciate you’re video’s, because people need to understand exactly the way it should be done.
If nothing else, your witty comedy makes this channel very entertaining to watch. I never subscribe to anything, but I subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work sir.

I am glad to see someone doing this retro fit, and doing a solid job. Not just kinda hacking off the upper part of the car and setting the body on top of the frame. Leaving the big rails at the bottom showing and trying to just cover them up with some side skirts.
Glad to see someone getting rid of the newer rockers and using the classic ones. They have already proven they are too wide yet no one cuts into them to make the older mustang look right. I know it’s more work but it will look correct in the end. Can’t wait to see more. 👍
How many people have told you to check out B Is for build lol Scott your killing it brother I like your idea looks like that’s gonna be the best way to go about it
A lot! I had no idea he had another car. To be fair though, I only knew about the first from my viewers. I really need to watch some videos! 😂 Thanks for the support!
I had to wait to watch until I got to my stopover for the night, DOT doesn’t like truckers to watch videos while driving for some reason, especially when we are hauling Hazmat. Great video as usual, and you came out .61 cents ahead! I know you are saving the tow hook plates to install, it is a Ford after all, it’s going to need them. I see now why you use the two different drill bits, plus they are way cheaper than the spot weld bits. Looking forward to the next video. Dan.

Wow the way you are building this is so nice! I finally understand how you are merging them, at least along the frame rail/floor. I like the way this is being done, very well thought out
Oh good, that’s the only part I am certain about myself! 😂 I planned out everything but sometimes you find easier/better ways as you go. I have left myself with many options for the rest of the car. Thanks for watching!
@@vehcor My only concern would be is if the frame rails on the 1966 are going to be able to handle the extra weight and hp etc of the 2015. I know you've lost a lot of the weight of the 2015 but it started out being 1000 lbs heavier and a LOT more hp...(Like double the 289 and 4x the inline 6?). I'm curious as to how you're going to address the 1" difference in wheel base.....(the 2015 is 1" shorter than the 1966).
Great job. Maybe you can make a jig that attaches to the door hinge point (angle iron) and the door striker. Maybe 12-18 above the contact point. This way you can pick it up in the center?
My chains are fine but when the forks are through it, it wants to twist the chain and doesn’t give. I just need a hook with a swivel at the end and it will be perfect.
It is really cool to see projects of this nature. So much of the "custom" trend has become, buy this engine from here, this adapter plate from there, this ECM from over there, have this guy tune it. All of that is cool, and it really opens opportunities for people... but back in the day it was a bunch of guys in their shops or garages just going for it. Rough idea how it should work, but zero certainty. Just move forward from one obstacle to the next.
Im watching all the mustang builds right now. Lol I'm not a ford guy but this is interesting to watch. This car is going to be the most solid and well put together one in the bunch by a long shot.
its interesting watching the techniques being used by you and B is for build its like a side by side comparison show ,looks like everyone is on the same page for now

This is easily THE best project you have done. I really like the "surgical" approach as apposed to just going at it with a chain saw. I am very interested in how this is all going to get stitched together so it just crumble with all the horsepower. Joking aside even a moderate size V8 can twist a car more than one realizes. We're watching you! 1
It is definitely one of the biggest projects, we will have to wait until the end to decide if it is the best. When fabrication is involved I tend to overdo it in the strength department so hopefully my car won’t turn into a pretzel the first time I drive it! 😂 The viewers are keeping me honest, so keep watching and thanks for the support!
Looking good, slow and steady wins the race!👍 I hate those spot weld bits too, I find they require too much pressure to cut good and then they break.🤷♂️
Been watching since this project started and I can’t believe you are doing this. I wish I had lived close to you when I needed to repair my 1976 F-100 that had a brush chopper run over the front.

I’ve had very good luck with Blair branded spot weld cutters. Center punch the spot weld and the tool does the rest. If I had one that broke every three spot welds, I’d kick it to the curb too.
Three mustang conversions as I am.watching. Three completely different approaches. RUclips needs to get all 3 together when completed. Nice work Scott!
I’m impressed on how the 2015 body/chassis joined together, they must be quite a stiff chassis to work with when modifying for racing, I’ve had 65 to 67 Mustangs and when jacking them up can see a body sag away and panel gaps change, and this was with a very solid basically rust free body on most.

This is an educational channel, I have to replace the rear inner fender on my Escape, now I know how to remove seam sealer and drill out spot welds (and I'm returning the spot weld remover bits)
Thanks, hopefully a bit entertaining as well. Some people like the spot weld bits but not me. It is a matter of preference. Good luck with your project.
Woo..Hooo..its VEHCOR..Friday. man I just cannot wait to see what the mad scientist Scott has in store today. Your a persistent man..LOL. I see how you just cannot get enough of drilling out stuff. Great progress. I hope you and the family have a great 4th. Thabk you very much for sharing. Stay safe.
Really enjoying this series. I've spent hours playing with numbers & measurements, but It's just like you said. What you are doing is Coachwork, the other guys are building race cars. Your car looks like it will be a Jonathan Ward/Icon quality vehicle. I can't wait for the next installment!
I must say, first in a long time somebody does it the right way, its lot of work but end result is perfect! If i were u i would be proud of this build! Keep up the good work!
That's because this is more like real life instead of "Today we tune our car for EIGHT FOOT FLAMES and install an exhaust that won't pass inspection anywhere in the country!"
Yesss! I HATE spot weld drill bits. The little pilot pin always gets jammed and they end up getting dull or breaking way quicker then a drill bit for metal.
I watched a few of these early Mustang/Coyote builds and so far they have all been surgical disassembly to the molecular level. It sounds like a cool idea but....daaammuummm!
At the beginning of all this I wondered if you were crazy and just ruining two cars. Now I'm seeing that it makes sense to do this. Great video making and an exciting journey.
You're very very skilled and these videos are excellent. If the goal is a modern drive train in a classic Mustang, would it haven't it been easier to simply use a Mustang II subframe and install a modern engine and transmission?
😂 three! You were doing good! Even when they work, they leave that weld in the center that you have to grind off later and that the breaker loves to get stuck on. My hatred runs deep for those evil bits!
I've never seen anyone drill out spot welds faster than you! This build is very interesting; I had an S550 Mustang and it's cool to see how it was put together. There are a lot more spot welded piece parts than I would've imagined! 😎
I just want to say that I am quite literally a safety guy... I have a degree in it... and I have never ones had a meltdown or gotten stupid watching your videos. You do you.
Most of the safety experts in the comments have probably never worked on anything other than a keyboard. It is fun to mock them. People in the real world understand that sometimes you need to bend the overbearing rules a little sometimes to get the job done. I’ll take your comment as approval from an expert that I am in compliance with safety regulations. 😂. Take care and stay safe!
@@vehcor Hey, now, I wouldn't go that far... I'm just sayin' ya ain't gotta be overbearing to be the safety guy! Leave work at work, right? ;-) Love the Mustang build.
You just do your thing and we will enjoy watching, keep it up ! I was going to suggest to check the inner cowl for rust damage, because i saw in a video by fixitnick that it is a problemspot with these cars. But watching the vid complete i guess you are going to change some things there any way 👍 thanks for all your work
Great work Scott, very motivated worker, an unusual build but loving it ,but way out of my league I'm a bit lost to see where your up to some times ,so interesting thanks heaps for the videos ,from aussie 👍🇦🇺
I'm really impressed with the way you are doing this build - the right way! Having seen how B is for Build is doing their latest Mustang body swap, I can say that yours is going to turn out way better. Like you said in one of your replies, they are just trying to get it together quickly to make content. You should watch their videos on this latest Mustang body swap that they are currently doing. I can just imagine your reaction. I just wish you had more time to post videos of this project and your other projects, because your presentation style is certainly the best. But then again, you are a mechanic with a business, who makes occasional videos, not a video maker who works on vehicles just to post content.
Thanks, I’m going to have to watch a little of his so I have some context. I had no idea he had another one. I only knew they took his old one. I need to watch more videos I guess. 😂 I still have the only convertible that I know of on RUclips so there is that! Thanks for the support!
So far my favorite Neo-retro Mustang build. You seem to be doing a lot more in term of engineering the ''mariage'' but it will pay off tremendously soon enough I tell you. You're doing this THE right way, no offence to all who also are doing similar projects
I think some of the others are just in a hurry to make content because that is their job. I care more about the car than the content so it leads to a different build style. Kinda like the tortoise and the hare story. 😂 Thanks for the support.
@@vehcor Well it certaintly shows, keep up wit the approach!! there's a whole lot of unecessary metal- Like WAY to much - that should have been discarted in those other build, IMHO. And yeah, I was thinking of this exact story!!
always nice to watch your stuff ..it is the right way to do things these other guys doing mustang builds are really hack artists lol thanks for showing the right way to do auto repairs keep it up
Hack artists, you know, there are as many ways to achieve the end goal and just because they are different, doesn't make any one better or another one a "hacker". B is for Build: keeps the 2015 structure V tuned: building a whole new frame structure Vehcor: using the 1966 mustang structure
@@muskokamike127 Although there has been some "but Mama, he's copying me" drama in the past when more than one of the auto sites tackle the same or similar jobs, I have enjoyed seeing three different ways to get to much the same result. Vehcor's solution is the best from a professional bodyman's perspective, and I understand that- BifB was a less technically challenging way to get there, while vTuned, a chassis repair specialist, chose a different route. All three could be described as "hacking"- none were nearly so simple. TBH, the car BifB was doing looked to be the simpler of the three; we will never know how solid the finish would be, I guess, because Chris used the "E" word. As to vehcor and vTuned, I expect both cars to be outstanding!
@@muskokamike127 B is for built: finished a structurally sound car V tuned : will never finish this nightmare of a hack job. Vehcor; currently building a nonstructural car that will fold like a taco if he doesn't find a way to fix it and I hope he will take my advice and add some beefy frame rails that are not in the way of putting in the seats like V tuned did. lol
Hi... Awesome project... I think you should invest in nice little microphone to capture only the incoming front sound to cut down the echo and boost up the far away sound of your voice. Try a Boya BY-MM1 or Movo PR-2 they are much cheaper then Rode ones and about 6dB louder. Keep going in your nice job
joseph migliore Your kidding correct. Lol 😂. A little old to be shaving your chest. Who does that at your age. Who does that period. Who thinks that looks good ? Look like a fool. Them steroids are going to kill you.
I hear alot of RUclipsrs make the point that their viewing audience has a higher percentage of non subscribers, so ad a person who's trying to grow my own channel I subscribe to every channel that's doing something I really enjoy. Keep up the good work mate 👏👏👏👌
hi wurth make an 8mm spot weld drill bit chrome in color and they work friggin awsome its like a flat drill bit with a tiny point in the centre not like those garbage cutter type and the slower you drill the better they cut you can feel when they cut the first layer of sheet metal and will cut hardened spot welds with ease cheers from down under
Scott, being that your mounting a convertible body, (old and flexible), it would seem to me to use as much of the 2015 rocker/high strength steel as possible, to keep it stiff. I could not imagine that 65 rocker is as strong as the 15. Another U tuber (B is for Build) is doing a similar project as yours
There is no real support in the 65 floor, there is in the 15 so it will be stronger than the original. I plan on adding to it from there. I just heard about BIFB and so far, it doesn’t sound good. I’ll have to see it for myself. From what I understand his car is a 67. That car is wider than mine making his a bit easier to use more of the HSS. I would have used more of the 2015 if I could have.
@@vehcor yes, BIFB's car is a 67 or 68. I have watched so many of your videos, I know without a doubt you will build an incredible car. The quality of your work is second to none. I just enjoy watching you repair and save cars that nobody else would, (Grand Am). And I've learned a few tricks from you along the way!!
😁👍 Yeah have broken some of those spot weld removers as well. There was a maker who produced some that would take a beating and worked quite well but do to my C R S I don't recall the brand name. And in any case somtimes you still have to use to two bit method. Brings back the good old days of clipping cars.🙂👍👍👍👍👍
So the simple solution is the more of the 2015 stuff you remove the better the better the 1965 will be. as I recall 1965 was a very good year for me. "Running on Empty" was a song about that era.
It depends on how you feel about the new stuff. The 2015 is a much safer car crash wise. It has more power and features. However, that comes with more room for issues. 😂 The 65 was much more reliable. I just want a fun car to drive, hopefully I end up with that.... even if it requires occasional use of the tow hooks.
@@vehcor point well taken, this is why I got a 2016 Acura for my grand daughter to drive rather than one of my 91 thru 2004 classics. side note when my brother in law and I were living close by we thought of purchasing a used tow truck as weekly we were rescuing one or the other.
Ford channel? I was hoping to tune in the Pontiac Network. I am wanting to see how the Grand Am is coming, so Scott can be driving Pontiac Excitement! Hello from Phoenix Arizona!🔥
I’ll get back to the Grand Am eventually, it just has to be ready by winter. I also want to have this back together by then so my toys have a place to hibernate.
I know I missed my "Dream Job" I was a bit old at the time it became posted "Parts Re-claimer" at a local auto/truck recycler, the best part take it apart don't worry about reassembly, that's the 'other guys' problem.
I am loving watching the various ways different channels are approaching these body swaps. I will say yours seems like it will have the most authentic look as you are not setting the body on top of the 2015 rocker panels like B is for Build is doing. Keep up the great work Scott.

I don’t do the cool cars so it is harder for people to find me. I’m ok with that. Thanks for the support.
That's because this is more like real life instead of "Today we tune our car for EIGHT FOOT FLAMES and install an exhaust that won't pass inspection anywhere in the country!"
Doing the job the right way mate, loving this build 👍
Thanks for the support!
Yesss! I HATE spot weld drill bits. The little pilot pin always gets jammed and they end up getting dull or breaking way quicker then a drill bit for metal.
Definitely interested to see if you can get the front fenders of the 65 to line up better with the subframe than B is for build was able.
I watched a few of these early Mustang/Coyote builds and so far they have all been surgical disassembly to the molecular level. It sounds like a cool idea but....daaammuummm!
It takes a little work to make it like Ford should have! 😂
Great build and finally someone is doing the body swap right. Awesome work Scott.
I’m just doing how ICAR would tell me to if they had a body swap class. 😂
At the beginning of all this I wondered if you were crazy and just ruining two cars. Now I'm seeing that it makes sense to do this. Great video making and an exciting journey.
Keep up the good work, I really enjoy watching the Mustang restomod videos.
Thanks, will do!
You're very very skilled and these videos are excellent. If the goal is a modern drive train in a classic Mustang, would it haven't it been easier to simply use a Mustang II subframe and install a modern engine and transmission?
Thanks for validating my hate of spot weld bits. I got through three welds before my bit broke.
So nice to see the attention to detail in your build compared to the rush, hack job being done on B Is For Build.
As a 2019 Mustang owner and a Mustang nut I love this and your delivery is better than "whats up dude" intros
Yes, "B is for build" just keeps cutting,
Interesting to see the extremes....
Great work, you're actually going to make it fit together. But what else could we expect from you!
Your videos always start my Friday afternoons off right.
Thanks! Have a great weekend!
Imma have to try it many times. Ah the difference between artists and artisans. Story of my life.
That is really cool seeing those two coming together awesome video
Thanks, slowly we will get there.
always nice to watch your stuff ..it is the right way to do things these other guys doing mustang builds are really hack artists lol
thanks for showing the right way to do auto repairs keep it up
Thanks, I have been hearing about the others. Thanks for the support.
to purists its all hacking
Hack artists, you know, there are as many ways to achieve the end goal and just because they are different, doesn't make any one better or another one a "hacker".
B is for Build: keeps the 2015 structure
V tuned: building a whole new frame structure
Vehcor: using the 1966 mustang structure
@@muskokamike127 B is for built: finished a structurally sound car
V tuned : will never finish this nightmare of a hack job.
Vehcor; currently building a nonstructural car that will fold like a taco if he doesn't find a way to fix it and I hope he will take my advice and add some beefy frame
rails that are not in the way of putting in the seats like V tuned did. lol
Really interesting build this one is !
Thanks for keeping us entertained !
Thanks for watching!
This is so much better than what b is for build is doing. Feels proper 👌
Thanks, I just heard about his new one, I need to start watching videos. 😂
Another Friday build gotta love it can’t wait to see how this mustang turns out !
Thanks for the support.
vehcor you do amazing work bud gotta get me a Mr spotty Tshirt !
Taking your time to do it right. Something I need to learn!
It comes with experience.... of doing it wrong. 😂 I have lots of experience!
@@vehcor I'm learning this myself as well!
I must say am into this build this is perfect timing I was just thinking about it.
Thanks for watching!
Dave J Punctuation, please.
joseph migliore Your kidding correct. Lol 😂. A little old to be shaving your chest. Who does that at your age. Who does that period. Who thinks that looks good ? Look like a fool. Them steroids are going to kill you.
I must say am into this build as this is perfect timing because I was just thinking about it.
actually I find it much better if I don't think too much. I've over thought way too much.
I hear alot of RUclipsrs make the point that their viewing audience has a higher percentage of non subscribers, so ad a person who's trying to grow my own channel I subscribe to every channel that's doing something I really enjoy. Keep up the good work mate 👏👏👏👌
Bingo on the old gloves 🧤!!
Experience / wisdom and vision will out perform.
Cheers
Even the new gloves look old by the end of the video! 😂
Scott it's great to see this project coming along! I am looking forward to the day that the old and the new merge together! Have a great 4th of July!
Super excited to see your videos on Fri-yay!
Thanks for the support!
It is coming together, great job sir!
Slowly but we’ll get there. Thanks for the support!
Really like this project Scott ! When its all "trimmed" and fit, should be an awesome build ! Happy 4th !
Thanks, I’m hoping it works as planned! Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸
hi wurth make an 8mm spot weld drill bit chrome in color and they work friggin awsome its like a flat drill bit with a tiny point in the centre not like those garbage cutter type and the slower you drill the better they cut you can feel when they cut the first layer of sheet metal and will cut hardened spot welds with ease cheers from down under
I use those in my spot weld drill. Not a fan of them otherwise.
"somewhere there is an OSHA manual exploding"😂👍
Btw, this build/swap/meld is really good, keep up the good work. Happy 4th🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice progress, a lot off work but you getting there 👍
Thanks, slowly but surely!
Can't wait. Just keep trimming 👍
Little by little, we will get there!
Love this build! Can't wait to see it done.
Coming together Scott!
And coming apart! 😂
So much work man awesome job
This should keep me out of trouble for a while! 😂 Thanks for the support.
Yes I see so much fitment its going to be so awesome when its done
Ford channel? I was hoping to tune in the Pontiac Network. I am wanting to see how the Grand Am is coming, so Scott can be driving Pontiac Excitement!
Hello from Phoenix Arizona!🔥
I’ll get back to the Grand Am eventually, it just has to be ready by winter. I also want to have this back together by then so my toys have a place to hibernate.
@@vehcor- Would love to see a update on the G8. My G8 looks exactly like yours, but mine is a 2008. Love those Aussie Holdens.
Awesome build.
Thanks!
Makes everything seem so easy.
When will you start working on the mustang again? I really like this project. Hope to hear from you. Thanks
Coolest project I've seen on RUclips in a very long time!
Being a Pontiac Person, it is always interesting to see someone tearing apart a Ford. 😀
I’m not brand loyal but I do seem to end up with lots of Pontiacs. 😂
@@vehcor Saw several drivers campaigning Pontiac G8s recently at Rocky Mountain Race Week. Cheers!
I know I missed my "Dream Job" I was a bit old at the time it became posted "Parts Re-claimer" at a local auto/truck recycler, the best part take it apart don't worry about reassembly, that's the 'other guys' problem.
Bonus as Scott is tearing apart 2 fords!
@@gundocC2 for an extra bonus no reassembly but that isn't "The Project"
Am glad you are motivated, I would have lost it if you'd have said that you wanna dance!
The motivation runs a little short when the weather is nice. We don’t get much of that in Chicago! 😢
