We "rescued" an abandoned African Grey in April. Owners simply moved out and left her. She's less than 2 years old. My heart breaks when I know how much she's been through in such a short time being alive. We aren't bird people, but we are learning to be. I don't trust her with anyone else.
@jliscorpio I have much respect for you. Thanks for doing that! No chocolate or coffee anything ever ✓ Think vegetarian for the bird. 🦜😘
Some humans are absolutely unreal. Birds are even smarter than canines, and abandoning them is devastating for them. Thank you for showing yours that we're not all monsters.
My Blue-Crown Conure was ignored & mistreated before a neighbor literally went in & removed him from the place. This neighbor knew me & my blind pigeon, and asked if I could take him.
Sam has now been with me for 22 or 23 years, lives open-cage and is secure, loved & knows it.
How anyone can abuse/dump any vulnerable & dependent being is beyond me.
@1929modelagirl I had a Blue crowned conure also. He was such a wonderful guy. ❤ They can be noisy at times though.
@donnamoyer6330
Yes they can!
I believe that is the 'why' I ended up with him. His rescuer couldn't handle his screaming.
That tore me up, calling for mama 💔I’m so glad she has a new mama❤
Same here. I’m still in tears over that.😢 I’m so glad she ended up with these lovely people.
@@laura0532me too.
me too! that poor bird has been threw enough.
I simply don't understand how having a bird for many years , anyone can abandon a beautiful loving bird, it's a member of a family, it beggars belief, thank goodness it has a truly new loving family now, it's so lovely to see the joy Coco brings .
mmm ... suppose loving owner (s) died... cruel take over $ survivors ditched the precious bird
Bless you for understanding her distress. I adopted a dog when he was 9 1/2 years, and I was his 3rd home. His 1st person left him at a high kill shelter when he was SEVEN. He was shut down and dejected, but I told him EVERY day, he was an amazing boy and would live with me forever. It took 8 months, but he finally trusted I wasn't going to ditch him!! He will be 15 soon, and the difference is night and day, he's such a happy dog. I feel it's an honor to give these sensitive animals the life they should always have had. Coco is so fortunate to be in a loving home, and you never know, she might surprise you and relax. xoxox
animals like dogs cats, birds...they are highly capable of complex emotions. They understand more than we give them credit for. When my 7 year old fur baby passes my heart is going to be destroyed.
You deserve some blessings too. I have a cat like your dog. She was dumped at our vet clinic doorstep as a baby. We found her a home, but she was retuned for euthanasia 3 years later because she was "too friendly" and stealing bread. She was starving and full of fleas. We got her healthy and found her another home after several months- only for them to return her after a week because she didn't get along with the other cat. At the time, I had two frail very elderly cats and just couldn't put them through the stress of two more cats (kitty and another abandoned cat she bonded with), so she had to stay at the clinic (we felt bad but all the rest of us already had at least a handful of cats already at home. But at least they could hang out with us at work).
Eventually I took the two bonded cats home . Like you experienced it took a LONG time to gain trust and for them to realize they had a forever home. I lost one of the cats to cancer 18 months later, but I still have the "too friendly" girl-6 years later along with another younger abandoned kitty rescued in 2019 from the euthanasia table ( at 18 months of age!!)
@christinas4528 and AnimalisMD - how amazing you both are for rescuing that doggie & those kitties, opening your hearts & homes to them, giving them hope & the opportunity to know love & kindness.❤ @bluejedi723 I completely agree with you re. animals "complex emotions" & understanding more than we realise.😊
❤❤
Very well said and you're my kind of person, someone who loves and understands animals! With you on the planet, it is a nicer place, and with all people who come to the rescue of animals, we are doing some really good work...it is a very esteemed group to be in....Much love to you and your animals 💟....I have two dogs and three cats and would have so much more if I could!!
She finally found her DESERVING momma ❤ what a great mother AND the dancing father 😂❤ thank you for rescuing these babies with feathers!!! 🙏 May they all get eternal love and joy! 😘
I don't know how long those birds live but I guess something around 50 to 90 years maybe?! I don't know. But what is she going to do when they are gone, her family, I mean she will outlive them, right?
Thank you!
@@Kenny-yl9pc yeah normally those birds do outlive their people. But Coco has heart disease so she may not 😥 Either way, the woman has made arrangements with her children. She has a RUclips channel you can follow. Lucky Lou and Coco Too, I think?
Beautiful ppl and birds! ❤
What if the first mama died and the papa couldn’t deal with the bird’s calling mama? It’s so easy to judge. A little kindness goes a long way even towards people you will never know. It’s like training yourself.
GOD BLESS these people for adopting these beautiful animals!!
Thank God for fosters and adopters ! It’s easy to judge the people who give up their animals. Many can no longer care for their pets and while some are not good people others find themselves in difficult circumstances-Illness, job loss, lack of housing, medical issues beyond their resources, etc. They actually love their animals enough to take them to a rescue or shelter, versus abandoning them on the street. They are heartbroken too.
AMEN!
I’m a frequent follower of Coco’s but I always thought she got into a terrible accident and ended up stress plucking but this is my first time hearing her backstory. She’s such a funny little cockatoo and her little bouncing around to music always warms my heart greatly. 🥰
Thank you for following us ❤️
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
@@luckyloucocotooSo many people do not realize what a full-time responsibility it is to care for these lovely creatures. May God bless you and Coco always. You are her Guardian Angels!
Such a sweet birdie, glad Coco found a new family who adore her ❤
Or we’re like them…
So sad her family just didn’t want her anymore after 20 years, but how wonderful of you and your husband to give her a loving home. You’re her angel on earth.💞🕊️
how could they abandon her?
@@boosqueezy2418there could be any reason, a selfish or a good one we shouldnt judge unless we know
@@icheeva1agreed. Perhaps her Mama passed away.
You don’t know the story so please don’t judge. Be kind in approaching things you don’t understand or have facts on.
What a ridiculous thing to say. You know NOTHING about it.
Poor baby :( she’s adorable
What a beautiful little dinosaur! I rescued a Goffin Cockatoo about 2 months ago. He came from a home where He was neglected/ignored for years, and also plucked some of his feathers. I was supposed to just be a week long stop for him before he went to his forever home...but I fell in love with him and he found his forever home with me. He trusted me right away, and just loves to cuddle! I can't imagine my life without him.
Just a note to those wanting to adopt a cockatoo, they def like to scream! With behavioral training, I have curbed my guy's excessive screaming by a lot. However, the screaming/calling out is a natural part of their behavior (my guy does it at night before bed). So please think about that before you bring a cockatoo into your home! ❤
@ArmyForThe...
Thank you for including that-it can't be stressed enough-Theres woman who has great video abt 1 bird I think its these-abt their screaming-BUT ALSO Chewing Furniture-pooping-and Vet bills-tempurature in house if need to have temp down 2 far 4 them,-which could b problem 4 some-any of then & MORE.
The other comment abt People and Children having been abandoned or worse-grow up & R not helped themselves-get overwhelmed abt shelters- & can't imagine them getting put down.
But 2 sec of going to "sleep"-is in many ways-much better than being abandoned- infested w biting, blood sucking insects, ticks, untreated brroken bones, or painful illness, starving, -beaten up by other animals, tortured by children etc., or hit by cars-etc etc-I know these are horrible things to imagine-some are several at one time-as we all see too much! That's the point-There Are Worse Things than instant death! I'm sorry but this world is in awful shape & not fair-but it's all we have.
If they go 2 [Shelter] & are POSSIBLY Rescued! OR-put 2 "sleep"-its logically better than torchure & death -never being rescued-& many, Many are NOT! Get pregnant -& make more suffering! Have to keep Bigger picture in mind-for them! It's not about Us!
So do best 2 find a home & take them to shelter if can't find one-its way better 2 know for sure is rescue or "sleep" than awful alternative...
For Bible readers:
If comforting-Jesus always compared death -2 sleep.
When under anesthesia-its a very deep sleep & feel no pain. Anymore-as Ecclesiasties says @chpt 9:5 -that death has no wisdom or knowledge or work-in the grave-where we all going... also Scriptures says man & beast both have same eventualty..we both end up the same@end-death is= opposite of life-its sad-Yet-also he said his father knows when sparrow falls 2 ground-but not w/out His notice or out of His care! All the wild birds live and die-daily & accept it -wasnt supposed 2 b that way in beginning- -but it happened-
either way- death i possib.-but better than horrible days or years & we have zero control over evetything! -which we just don't know!
Please don't abandon thinking dog/ cat animal will. B better off!! Or dropp off in country etc etc a house cat is not a barn cat & get hit by cars or Coyotes etc! Stop saving [ourselves] from pain to give it to them!!
@@Kaylin_h❤️😢🙏🙏🙏🙏🙌
@@Kaylin_hI get so depressed thinking about the babies, children, animals that are in unspeakable situations...I pray a lot about that in Jesus mighty name. I'd rather them be with our Creator than to suffer. Thank you for your post 🙏❤️🙌
I rescued 2 lorikeets from a neighbour when he died & family intended on dumping them outside a pet store before it opened in the morning & then leaving the state. I never realised the abuse they were suffering, but I know they screamed (but in fairly bird-normal ways) all day & well into the night every day when living with him. They screamed a lot when I got them too, things like the tv on really set them off. I got into a routine of having their cage outside first thing on waking (which isn't super early, they stay covered till I'm ready to wake them) in summer & bird videos on at the same time in winter when too cold to go out. They got into a new routine of screaming to the wild birds or video birds for a few hours on waking & once they had done that, they were ready to settle down & just chat quietly to each other for the rest of the day. They still sometimes started chatting loudly to the tv, especially if explosions or whatever in movies, so I'd have to stop it until they stopped, cause otherwise they were going to wake my elderly neighbour on the other side of my wall, but after a while of doing that, it broke the habit & now they're really very quiet little birds, I don't actually even need to have bird videos every day to have them quiet later on, although I mostly do anyway, cause it's good enrichment for them. I have "screaming" bird videos & then others with quieter birds that I can play anytime & they don't make noise to, just enjoy hearing in the background.
Anyone who thinks they can stop birds from screaming is kidding themselves. As you say, it's a natural part of their behaviour, it's important that they do it to stay sane. Best option is to modify the time of day they do it, via having them hearing other birds making noise at the time of day it's most suitable for them to get it out of their system. Having a second also helps, as they clearly don't need to communicate loudly if the other bird is right next to them, so they will naturally modify their volume in accordance with that. All birds have entire flocks though, not just one other companion, so they will still communicate with the rest of the flock too, at least sometimes
@@mehere8038 Right? I have pet call ducks. Call ducks. CALL ducks. I get so many people saying "they're so cute and tiny, I want one! Are they quiet?" 🤦🏼♀️ Look at the name, of course they're not quiet! My Bean loves to sing me the song of her people. And sing the neighbors the song of her people. And everyone in the tri-city area. And the astronauts stationed at the ISS.
Wobbles is a boy so he isn't loud like females are, but he quacks *_constantly._* He's an ever present part of the soundscape in my home, lol. It's part of having a birb.
How could someone break her heart like that?! That upset me when she was calling for her old momma. So glad she is happy in her new home.
I'm glad you guys adopted her and put the warmth and color back into her world!!
I have a rescued lovebird, Nana, and she is a real boss bird😅. She is in charge 😂❤
It is so sad how many of these precious birds are abandoned or even kept and neglected by being left in cage and ignored. Thank you for rescuing this little bird with such a personality and giving her a chance to have a good life.
Such an adorable trichotillomaniac.
How sad that she’s had to endure all of that yet she has persevered to live that long. So glad she now has love in her life❤
Cockatoos are very companion oriented and that can be difficult for humans to accommodate, so grateful you and your husband were able to give CoCo a loving home. Thank you for sharing!
It's very, very rare to find people who truly understand parrots and know how to properly care for them emotionally and mentally. This sweet couple clearly do!
Agreed!
An extraordinary bird and a wonderful family!
All these little creatures with distinct personalities! How can anyone hurt them?
Coco is adorable. She is so social. I hope something helps relieve her anxiety. She has been through so much trauma. So glad she has a new happy family.
Coco is very entertaining and can melt hearts with her mama call. She deserves all the love you can give her. ❤
She’s so beautiful poor thing god bless her 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️
An emotion day, I’m crying over the stress this darling Coco experienced. Grateful for this adorable lady adopting her. Sending love.
She is happy now ❤️ Don’t cry
Coco rules the roost! She's a doll!
@@luckyloucocotoo Thank you.
I feel the same.
How can anyone just abandon their precious family member like her
A whole host of reasons. They left her at a sanctuary which is all you can ask.
Shes so precious 💞💞
You are wonderful people to take her in and she is very lucky you found each other! She is just fantastic!
Thank you for rescuing this sweet little creature shes wonderful ❤️
I am not a bird person but from a distance she is adorable. And her new family is wonderful.
Coco is always good for non bird people.
@@fubey8x I was around a very large parrot for a long time. Maybe an African Grey? He talked all the time. So no I’m not ignorant on the subject of house birds. I just would not want one as a pet.
@@nancyrea3863 I'm not a bird person either. Their big powerful beaks give me shivers! But I love to watch the videos of bird people and I can appreciate their beauty and intelligence 😊 Old fubey8x can just go soak their head! 😂
@@freidaelliott8769 Thanks for the support. I was just making a simple comment and I must have offended them. LOL. My sister-in-law had a huge African Gray and he was impressive. He talked in the voice of who ever taught him to say something. He was beautiful and funny. I liked him from afar but I sure wouldn’t want him for a pet. So I’m not ignorant of the ways of house birds. 😁😃 Have a great day.

I'm so happy for Coco to be with a family who loves and includes her, and is giving her the proper care she needs. She's a happy soul and you made her whole world better! ❤❤❤❤❤
How precious ❤️ thank you for saving Coco and giving her a loving and safe home 💕
It's inconceivable to me that her previous family didn't want her after 20 years together. So glad she was adopted by this lovely family and has such a wonderful life! 💓
Oh, my goodness! Coco is precious. I can’t imagine ever abandoning a pet but perhaps her prior family did her a favor if they couldn’t care for her anymore and they did bring her to a sanctuary. I am glad that she is now with you and your husband. I hope that she’ll have many more happy years with you.
You are an amazing woman and Coco is an amazing bird. Happy ending.
What a precious little bird and she's certainly found her forever home 😍
This brought tears to my eyes.
I love Coco's videos because I had a Goffin's for 13 wonderful years. Her name was Bobbi because that's what she did! She would bob her head up and down when she got excited, it was also her way of laughing!
I would rescue a bird like Coco or Bobbi in a heartbeat if the opportunity ever came along!
I really miss my babygirl and I cherish every second we had together.
Thank you so much for sharing Coco with us and for giving her an amazing home.
This bird saying "mama" broke my heart! Such a baby!
It makes my brain hurt to think of dumping a family member let alone after 20yrs. Life change, owner passing or just done with it there are no good reasons. Glad Coco got a great family. Seeing him taking his meds made me jealous, it is always drama filled with my dogs.
Poor little girl. How can anybody be so cruel to just leave her? So glad she found a loving family. She is very cute when she dances. ❤
No one said they just "left" her!!! What's wrong with you!
@@aalm9179 ,
I guess you didn't get that her previous family "left her at the sanctuary...because they didn't want her anymore." 😢
Thank you for adopting Coco. She is adorable. My heart wrenches thinking of those callous people who left her. They want nothing but our love. Those people are a disgrace to humanity who fail in doing that.
Twenty years and they dump her. My cocky lived for twenty five years and then was poisoned by my alcoholic neighbour. We called her Jimmy growing up, we thought she was male, at night she would listen for me to go to bed, my father had her in a cage outside my bedroom (awful), as she heard the click of my lamp, she would whisper from outside ' goodnight, my darling, I love you' ...and I would say it back. 15 yrs and I still miss my sweet girl.🐨🇦🇺
How tragic. I bet you cried as you wrote that.
The man across the road from me trapped and presumably killed 9 of my cats before I caught him. The stress, fear and heartbreak of not knowing what had happened to them gave me PTSD. The least little thing and I fell on the floor sobbing. And the guilt I felt. Some of them had been born on my pillow.
I'm sorry for you and what was done to your Jimmy.

Poor Bird, They really Pair Bond too so She would have been Hurting 😢.. I'm glad it had a Happy Ending though. ❤😊
Aawww what an angel, she is so adorable 😊❤
Bless her , and you for giving her that security
What a lovely story..❤️.and such a happy ending. It's amazing the difference a bit of love can make. We adopted a neighbours' cat, or rather he adopted us because he was desperately unhappy living where he was. His previous family neglected him badly and he became very aggressive and antisocial (hardly surprising!) Then one day he just strolled into our house and made himself at home. Our two cats weren't exactly pleased about it, but he's three times their size, so didn't do much to stop him. 🙈 That was three years ago, and we've watched him change from a rather unpleasant cat to a huge, loving softie who snuggles all day, constantly purring like a lawnmower. Our other two cats look on him as a big brother, who fights off all the bullies in the area to keep them safe! ☺️ All you need is love!
This story is so telling of their emotional intelligence, their bond, and their need for connection and companionship. Compelling... Thank you for sharing. It breaks my heart, yet I'm so very grateful for people like you that rescue these sweet souls 💕😊 Much love ❤️
