Cockatoos, like any bird, requires a lot of attention, love, and patience. Just know, having a cockatoo is like having a 2 year old toddler who stays that age forever. 😊
And will likely outlive their human.
It brings up a lot of questions about what is ideal and ethical. I know a lot of animals, parrots and otherwise, end up in horrible situations after relatives resolve the estate.
For me living in Australia I see cockatoos all the time so it's strange for me to see them as pets.
I worked in a store that sold parrots when I was a teenager. I purchased a cockatoo and ended up not being able to care for it properly. He needed loads of attention that I didn't provide. In my twenties I made the difficult decision to send him to a rescue. The last I heard from his caretaker he had a girlfriend and partner in crime. I want people to understand large birds are a lot of work and bringing one into your home is a lifelong reasonability.

I love the realness of her home. You can see a pile of unfolded clothes (1:14) on a loveseat. This is how real ppl live! She could've named her cockatoo Hopper instead of Casper and that still works too! This woman definitely has her hands full with 6 big birds, 4 teens, a full time job as a peds nurse, and two cats! WOW!!
She is Blessed because of her dedication, MORE Power to her 🙏She is surrounded by LOVE 🥰.May they ALL have Longevity!!🌈

Most parrot owners don't develop this level of bond, which is unfortunate. There are a myriad of factors. But, when the bird feels that you are indeed their family, a lot of them can be this close and trusting and seek out prolonged contact. I wish it were more common, because I know that there are statistically more birds that would want this kind of relationship.

Hi Violet....Like you, it takes many cups of strong caffeinated cups, & I don't exactly know how healthy this is, but I now take 1-1/2 caffeine pills with my first morning coffee to help me keep on my feet... *: )*
I used to care for a mealy amazon that would watch you eat and ask "is that good?" If you gave him a taste and he liked it, he'd say "that's good!" if he didn't like it, "that's NOT good!"

I am just fascinated with birds & their capacity to love & learn. The birds that end up with this sweet lady are lucky for sure! I LOVE when I see people take their birds outside to fly "free"....i can't help but think that the first several times are nerve wracking though! "Please come back!" 😍😍😍

We adopted a 36 year old sulphar crested a little over a year ago. She bonded with my partner instantly! This is amazing because she was left outside in a small small cage for 36 years. She should be nasty and crazy but she’s only that way towards me 🤣 My partner is her partner and I’m considered a threat. The love my other half has for this bird is beautiful ❤️

I was dive bombed by a boyfriend’s cockatoo and I adore everything, so was saddened by this reality despite respecting her nature and boundaries .
You are a very tolerant partner and wonderful of you to care about this bird-child... It's not fun being the other woman and the wicked stepmother all in one! Kudos.
Love watching bird videos even though I couldn't deal with one on an everyday basis. Takes a special person to take on this kind of responsibility. I'm glad Casper found such a loving home.

You've never been bitten by one, I'm guessing.
I’m in Australia and I have these Cockatoos visit me, as well as Little-Corellas, Rainbow Lorikeets, Magpies and the regular family of dawn and dusk Kookaburras.
Your beautiful birds are so happy and it’s wonderful to observe your bond with each of them.
I hope that one day you and your family could visit Australia. To see big flocks of wild Sulphur Crested Cockatoos flying overhead, and to HEAR them, is an absolutely beautiful experience.

Imprinting is simply amazing. And the bond definitely goes both ways. I have and had imprinted ducks, and the joy we have together is truly something special. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing Casper's story. She is a true character.

I love cockatoos. I have 3 umbrella cockatoos and they are quite the trio. I call them my tag team demolition trio. I’ve have them all for over 30 years now. They are all shrieks and cuddles and can get into anything. They are a lot of work but I adore them.
Apart from the fact that she is very cute, and you have a stunning relationship with her. Casper is the healthiest pet cockatoo I've ever seen, your doing so many thing right with your babies. Best beak I have ever seen.
