    When I was 10, all I ever wanted to be was a professional bass fisherman. I would watch bass shows and fishing shows every Saturday morning. I remember watching you on TV and wanting nothing but that. Bass fishing was my passion when I was younger. Due to pretty rough growing up stuff with family I ended up falling out of bass fishing and moving away from Minnesota. Now I am 31 and I am going to chase that dream again. The same dream that my 10 year old self wanted while watching you fish in on TV. Thank you for inspiration so many years later.

    After seeing this, i dont think ill ever look at you the same way. I used to think "going Ike" could be a bit over the top at times but now i see its all straight passion for doing what you love and not feeling like the best angler out there but because you love the sport you pour you all into it and when it all comes together, that all comes out at once. Man i respect your game and i appreciate you sharing your heart here. God bless.

    Good answers and advise for any profession! Great to hear this. I recall a person in this sport on a youtube channel that answered this question to a parent of a person wanting to be a professional angler by saying get them in to a stick and ball sport instead. While i am sure he meant well because it is a tough sport to be in, i was like hey we need young blood to replace those who eventually move on and new bright minds to look to in the future. Yes you should be well rounded for the twists and turns life throws at you but don't lock down and stop trying untl it is really time.

    Mike didnt have enough time to get into it, but it would be eye opening for some ppl to actually see the struggles these pros had to endure before making it. Heck when it comes to any profession, there is always that nasty grind and struggle before you make it to the top. The hardest part would be to figure out how to make a living from fishing - Hotel (car)/ Gas, food, tolls, entry fees, boat/kayak, maintenance.. So unless you have sponsors you are working to pay the bills and fishing to get better and possibly win enough to get sponsors.

      Hi Elijah,
      I fished with “Ike” when he was starting out, and I was in my 40’s.
      Look for my story online, I am known as the Bass Doctor, my name is Charles Stuart.
      I fished BFL (Redman back then) AFL, Foxwoods, Bassmasters, and the CFL. I was an angler from Europe and had to learn the techniques before I could even catch a bass.. If I can help you in any way, reach out to me via any of the websites, that carry my articles, or find me on FB.

      The best advice is don’t be a bitch on the lake…nobody whines and complains at the lake more than pro fisherman …also learn how to be efficient at the boat ramp…most of these guys can’t back trailers…also don’t drive a hundred miles an hour on your way to your tournament…it’s unsafe…moral is be safe learn to drive and share the lake!

    Fishing is my everything..sounds fishy but once I woke from a dream that I was fishing in and caught a solid 3 with an old bait I never threw before in a specific spot. So I thought I would duplicate what happened in the dream exactly after I managed to find the bait and wake the rest of the way. I Went directly to the spot and bam first cast. the fish's markings even looked the same as the dream. I may have a serious addiction

    that's all good and well that sounds great but the first thing you got to have is what everything else in this country is plenty of money because you ain't going to get sponsors and stuff if you ain't got the right boat truck hotels all that stuff so if you ain't got the money I come from the Poor Side of Town there's no way that I can make it up there

    • @jaredkemperfishing
      @jaredkemperfishing 4 года назад +1

      So true, my first thought also...money! After many years of asking pros about becoming pro I've figured out if you have the money and the time you can make it, that's the truth. All of these things Mike mentioned are true also but you have to have the money 1st!!
