Even in a SSA office, you can get absolutely incorrect info given to you as gospel. I went into the office and asked why I haven't received an earnings benefit update in the past 2 years. The agent told me after 70 years old, even though I have continuosly worked and enjoyed an upgrade in salary, unreflected in my SSI payments. I got the COLA but not the earned income benefit. The agent told me that the money that I and my company are paying into my SSI benefits will be distributed towards the SSI "kitty". I was flabbergasted. She insisted this was the case. So I asked for the form that requested an audit of my payment history. She printed out my salary history and the two letters sent to me informing me of the COLA increase and said "See, you got the increases!!" I left the office. Clearly, I need to connect with someone more knowledgeable. Does that person exist? Any advice?
The system should be streamlined, less paperwork, easier to understand processes, more people does not make a system better.
I was on SSA since 2003 because of CA. They said because I had no sign of CA for awhile I was no longer disabled and in 2019, I lost my SSA. As of April 2024, supposedly I was at my 5yr mark. Drawing my STD from Dec 25th -Mar 18th 2024 and supposed to go onto LTD, but they said all diagnosis was pre-existing. I have been w/o any pay since March 2024, I applied for SSI/SSA last week they said it could be 3-6 months!!!! WOW, what do they expect people to do?
I'm praying you remain in remission and your CA isn't of the metastatic type. I'm guessing by your name, you're in Georgia? That very well, could explain the long wait. Best of luck to you 👍
Hite less people for IRS and more for SS services
I can vouch for incorrect information and drop phone calls, they either transfer you(drop) or hold on a minute(drop)I hold my breathe when told this UGH. I believe most who are answering these phone calls don't have a clue for an answer so that is why they drop you.

Look at the US debt clock.
We have a total of 217 Trillion in unfunded liabilities.
Those unfunded liabilities include SS, Medicare part A B and D, also includes Federal debt held by the citizens, Federal employee and Veterans benefits.
It shows SS unfunded by 27 Trillion, Medicare unfunded by 41.4 Trillion!

When you apply for Medicare parts A&B at age 65. Is the insurance handle by Medicare or an insurance carrier? And if by any insurance carrier, must you select one before apply for Medicare? Hopefully that makes sense. Thanks

Am I grandfathered in with Ex-Spousal Survivor benefits of things change? Or would the change only affect new applicants!

Can a person get survivor's benefits from an ex spouse if currently remarried to someone else?
Is the ex spouse deceased? Did the survivor marry after age 60? Possibly.
