Interesting. Clearly a professional tool at a pro price - that gets recovered as part of the quoted job costs and depreciation charges. I really like that user interface - sheer genius. BobUK.
learn by doing.....k40 whisperer was a game changer for the k40...i now have built my own 600x400 co2 laser using the k40 control board, 45w spt laser.....have had for 3+ years.....spt makes great tubes.....they are actually tested with info like peak power......made motorized bed out of 1x1 steel tube and 3d printed parts....total cost was $900....well worth it as its paid for itself many times over
Excellent review! How many operational hours are these tubes expected to last and how much does a replacement tube cost? When I consider a purchase I also like to know what the longterm running costs are likely to be. Thanks
The laserbox pro model uses a co2 laser which can cut transparent materials. The hybrid model uses a diode laser which can't cut transparent materials. The hybrid model also includes a vinyl cutting blade. If you want to cut vinyl and engrave at the same time, the hybrid might be a good option. The co2 l;aser in the laserboxpro is much more versatile for general cutting/engraving It is easily the most used tool in my workshop.
I’m on the website now trying to decide between the rotary tool version and the pro. Does the rotary version still do everything else the pro version does just with an option to do the rotary engraving as well? There’s not a whole lot of information that comes with the machines. Also, do we HAVE to use the filter? Or can we exhaust it outside only? Cause Ive heard the filters are VERY expensive to replace and need replacing ever 3-4 weeks for hundreds of dollars (this was a glowforge customer that told me this about their hepa filter) so I’d want to be able to exhaust outside only.
I believe the rotary version is pretty much the same machine with just the modification to allow the rotary axis to be fitted. I just vent it outside without using the filter. It clears smoke quicker that way anyway
You didn't mention a chiller? Does it not have a cooling system installed? If not that tube won't last long. Do you have to use its software or can you use 3rd party?
It's water cooled. Specified temp range is 0 - 35C. My guess is than in most situations water cooling is more than adequate. It probably only has to dissipate a couple of hundred watts. In a hot country without aircon it might be an issue. Anyway I am sure I will find out in July/August. You can use whatever you like to create image files but you have to use the software to send it to the machine. CTRL F1 brings up a maintenance menu which gives you some lower level options, like send gcode.
This is the most comprehensive video I've seen on this. Extremely helpful!

It looked like your exhaust hoses were backward. Curious what the result was...disregard, I see you fixed it in the wide angle shot.
Nice review thanks. 1 question, does this nice piece of kit have a rotary attatchment?
There is a version called laserbox rotary

I believe 12 months warranty. 10,000 hours and about £380 / $500 for a replacement from an authorised dealer. No doubt cheaper if you shop around.
@@techydiy Thanks for the swift reply, very helpful.
Very helpful video! Quick question: I live in Europe and this model isn't available here. Is there a good substitute?
I think it is available via a dealer network. I don't know about other options.
Hi, does it work with Lightburn?
Where can you buy this in the UK? The purchase link says not available in your region.
AH UK
No.
Type this into google " laserbox pro uk " there are a couple of resellers
I have a glowforge and make favors out of .25 1/4" material. Would I be able to pump out a good amount? THe favors are about 3.25" in LXW ?
It has roughly the same cutting performance as a glowforge.
How is the cleaning maintenance such as the exhaust fan, are all parts easily accessible?
Everything you need to clean is easy to get at. The mirrors are magnetically attached, so that makes the process easy.
Great video, what is the difference between this model and the hybrid one?
The laserbox pro model uses a co2 laser which can cut transparent materials.

@@techydiy Thanks for your reply on the comment and information
Can we schedule multiple cutting and engraving tasks in the same job with this software? Does lightburn is supported ?
Thank you
Can you cut/engrave multiple items? yes. Does it work with lightburn? No.
Just as you start the bit about the microscope slide, the video is covered by what looks like an end card list of videos.
Thanks, weird. I think I fixed it.
Thank you! Can you do powder coated tumblers in this machine?
Yes, with the honeycomb bed removed. They have a rotary version of the machine as well.

I would love to test it myself. This is amazing engraving
I use it everyday, it's a great tool.
@@techydiy i bet. I would too. Jave you cut sublimation hardboard. I'm into sublimation photo frame and earrings 🥰🥰
Excellent, yes it will cut easily enough.
where did you get those cool pegs?

Scale them up or down

I could be wrong but I think he mentioned the tube being water cooled. 1:08
@@johninokla2635 yep, I clearly didn't notice that! It seems odd it has a big filter but not a proper cooler it seems.

Can I engrave or put a drawing on the metal?
Generally no, Athough it is possible by using laser marking sprays. To mark metal you really need a fiber laser.
Great review. Thank you. How is the support if it breaks?
I don't have any first hand experience as nothing has broken.
Great review and info!
Thanks
do you have to vent it out side ? if so that purifier is not really purifying anything lol
No you don't. Of course it filters.
I believe It’s either, or, but not both.
Thank you for this presentation. Will you try the Gweik Cloud 3D printer ? I need to know if this home CO2 laser cutter is great.
Does the software require you to sign up for an account or always be online? Thanks for the video, it's a very nice machine.
No, the software doesn't have any account or signup and you don't need an internet connection, except potentially for software updates.
Nice product
Brand new machine an gr I cabby get x axis to move any help
It could be lots of things, you should contact their support.
Hey.. can you engrave like wine bottles with out the rotary
Yes
what about rubber?
Probably but it will stink
@@techydiy I am used to it. I am married.
Nice!
Great video. Really wanted to pick one up but they aren't shipping to the UK. I need some YT clout. Haha.
