Why would you "recommend" anything turkshit? Theres literally a meme roast page dedicated solely to the tti qc issues at the moment. Would never, ever, buy a canik. Below even taurus.
@@ethanh6849 I can onlly attest to the countless numbers of Caniks Ive sold to complaints and issues Ive experienced with customers bringing them back in. In fact, even the Taurus G2-G3 series. My absolute best selling pistol the last 4 years. Yes because they were sub $300 and werent sold as competition or duty/service carry. Prior to the death of the late James Yeager, he actually was being courted by Taurus. He wouldnt agree to a partnership until he did some research. His answer was to have folks bring their Taurus’s to class for free.
Can’t wait to see if Taran makes a steel Canik TTi . Best of both worlds.
I hope so
I had a TTI on preorder for 2 months. It arrived April 30th & paid 899.99 for it at my lgs. I took it out the box ran a rag down the barrel & started feeding it with 115gr Winchester white box. Over 450 rounds & zero malfunctions. I love it. It's my first Canik & I'm super impressed!!! The quality & fit & finish are excellent. I still have not given it a field strip & clean & oil but I probably will before I take it out again. What a pleasure to shoot & very accurate. TTI Combat is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
First one and got the TTI? Nice! I'm on my 5th. I waiting for the TTI before I got my top dog canik and ultimately even tho I did love it, I went ahead and got the rival s darkside.
@@Jgmoya1989 I've looked at the Rival S Darkside. I like it!! 👍
@@dabears52501 honestly I'm still considering getting the TTI. Academy is selling them for msrp. But at this level I feel like you can't go wrong with either. My first gun was a kimber 1911. So I have a biased towards steel frames and I think that's ultimately what made me go the rival s route
I agree...I'm a 2011 guy...own about 5 and to me this is a polymer 2011....cant think of a better polymer ...it's like a ultra light weight 2011
Now you have to do the same exercise: PDP Match vs PDP Match SF
Not sure these are legit rivals ( pun intended) as theyre similar in some ways but the weight is not even close. These are FANTASTIC pistols regardless what one you choose, however one is more for carry/combat/competition in the TTI, versus more in a competition or home defense role in the Rival S. I have sold Caniks for years and have not had a single one come back with issues or any catastrophic failures . For the price, I believe they are unrivaled in the marketplace. GREAT review on these two!
I went with the Black Rival-S because dealers were going above MSRP for the TTI. Also, some were also doing the same to the Rival_S in chrome. Then I found a deal. It all worked out!
Lots of guys reporting cycling issues with the TTI no matter which spring is used. Failure to return to battery. Buddy of mine just sent his back to Canik today. I've got the S and have put rounds through each side by side and think your assessment is spot on.
I've got my TTI about 2 weeks ago, put about 250 rounds through it and I have not had any issues cycling. I even tried 115, 124 and 148 grain in a couple different brands. But I know every gun is different.
It's always a box of chocolates buying a first round "New" gun before the bugs are worked out.
I have the same issue. I am sending mine in this week for that as well. Doesn't always return to battery and then the trigger doesn't reset/re-engage when it happens.
Those are called Turkish Delights not malfunctions
@@meanman6992 I refer to my S as my Turkish Whore. 🤣
I'm still rocking my old TP9SFX. Over 7 thousand rounds of mostly powder-coat reloads. The only thing I'd recommend to everyone is maintaining the springs in the Mec-Gar magazines. There are upgraded spring kits offered by multiple companies that I highly recommend. All of my Mec-Gar mags have needed new springs. Besides that, zero issues!
Correction on the sight mounting info you give at @7:35. The Rival S uses the same mounting system as the polymer Rival and can fit the same optics as the TTI, be it full RMR, SRO, or others. The Rival plates simply fit deeper into the slide and line up with the wider part of the slide. The TTI does have a functionally deeper cut with shallower plates, so the optics will mount a little lower on it. Also like the regular Rival, the S comes with one plate which retains the rear irons but can only be used with smaller optics ( Shield RMS pattern ).
Not quite in this class, but I love my TP9SFx.
Love mine too!
My TP9SFX is a nail driver. I’ve been disappointed with everything I’ve purchased since I bought it six years ago.
I am on my third Canik and am finding it hard to purchase any other brand. I bought my first in 2019 and have not been disappointed
I also have a combat elite from canik and love the gun and especially the flat face trigger it's amazing. Respect to glock but they are old tech...crap triggers to say the least. To me canik truly is the glock killer...my friend and I have thousands of rounds through our caniks with no trouble and we do not often clean them.
Honestly even my MC9 shoots great and it's a micro. I need to pick up a fullsize Canik, for science.
my local Academy has the TTI Combat for 899 and they go cheaper if you apply or have a credit card with them i think thats a darn good deal in my opinion!
Rival S
I'll take the Rival S in FDE with a comp!...and extra grippy grips!😮😮
I’ve had a rival for two years, I knew it was underrated when I got it and it’s funny to see all this attention now since Taran did one. Yeah I’m cheap but it’s a lot of gun for the money
Thank you, I'm looking forward to this comparison.
Excellent review. I was one of the ones that wondered which you would choose. Came to same conclusion and since I have other carry guns, bought the Rival-S. Love it!
Great review! Agree, both should be good choices.
I’ve been holding out to get a tti but today I was browsing at a local shop and they had a rival S with the optic package in stock. I was sold on it the first time I held it. Might get a tti eventually but holy mother the rival S chrome is just a sexy sexy gun that shoots buttery smooth.
This Video is so Good, I would Love to see more model comparison videos like this.
I fucking love that shirt!
Man you just gotta start a fight first thing in the morning. 😂😂
Awesome video!
My local gun shop actually has the non optic and optic version in stock under MSRP. I’m headed up there tomorrow “to go look at them” 😅
I did it guys. I got them both. 😅
Good stuff coming out of Canik for certain.
Nice review.
Thanks Mike
Great video.👍
Love the shirt.
Great video! I'd love to see you add the polymer frame Rival to the mix to see how it stands up. Cause I love mine 👍👍
Chill and informative as always. Thanks Mr gng
Good content!
I got one last week and put the Holosun 507 Comp on it in Green version. Only issue I found is when I took it apart and cleaned it prior to the range, the Striker Channel and Striker were super oily. I clean out all the oil and took it to the range putting an initial 280 Rds of FMJ and JHP from 107g up to 147g through it. Has a very good trigger but my Walther PDP Pro SD's with the DPT triggers are still better in my opinion. I did also run my PDP Pro SD Full Size mags with it with no problems.
good picks 👍
Badass shirt brother!!!
Compairisons are what the people like to see to help them make a purchase decision. Great comparison!
Thank you
This is the video we’ve all been waiting for.
The first shots, not including the intro, the Rival S seemed to be much smoother and I believe the weight of it is why.
!
I want both so badly
I've got set of the LOKGRIPS for my Rival-S and they're incredible.
My lgs had the TTI for 899…. For what it is, it’s pretty good. Love the textured trigger. Thanks for your reviews.
I got mine for same exact price!!! 👍 Awesome pistol!!
I have the rival s and have had no issues.
Looking forward for the TTI-S. Btw the Rival S has an optics plate with built-in Irons. Not as good as the default irons and has a weird footprint that didn’t work with the M02
I like the TTI better. I like how you mentioned the reciprocating mass is higher on the steel frame. My main reason for choosing the TTI is the better grip texture, grip on slide release, then you got the gucci factor of the compred and ported barrel, spiral fluted barrel, and cooler slide serrations overall. Both guns are great, TTI has more features and more cool factor.
Looks like we all just need to buy both of them!!!!❤
Academy sports and outdoor has it for $950 at least in Texas.
I would consider myself something of a beginner. My first Canik was the SFX, about 5 years ago. I recently bought the Rival S. I couldn't wait for the Tti. But, I do hope they come out with a steel version of it! I enjoy the fact of being a bigger guy with big hands how great the S feels locked in my hands. Great video, thanks for sharing!
You're welcome 👍🏽
Pretty sure you can run full size optics on the rival s as well, it does come with 5 plates to mount optics
I picked up the tti on 4 29. Went to range a few days later, first shots were great just loved the grip on tti. Used three different ammo manufacturers and several failures to fire with the tti. Talked to canik about it and they really didn't help with info. Went back and had a few more failures again. Talked to them again and shipped the gun to them a week ago. Not sure what to think as of now, they didn't really have any answers but to send it to them. I have the old sfxtp9 with about 3000 rounds with not one hickup, for half the money. As of now I'm not really happy. But the gun was fun to shoot ran fast and felt very good, but we will see.
I think I’ll stick with my Rival and it comes with optics plates for all full size optics. It’s the Mete that’s only RMSc.
MrGNG, on an AR, which flip to side 3X magnifier have you dealt with that allows the greatest eye relief and can be mounted the most rearward as possible?
I don't have the cash to try a bunch of models and my Holosun Titanium 3x model has me scrunching forward uncomfortably. My nose has to be on the charging handle for achieving proper eye relief, and I'd like to not have to lean in so close to the gun. I'm hoping you know what I mean.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
If you are a new shooter. You CANNOT go wrong with either guns. If you’re a new shooter looking for a range toy the tti Canik is mint and I promise you’ll hit your shots.
This is what I’ve been waiting for! I like the look of the Rival-S better but I’m thinking TTI now. We’ll see how I feel after your review. 2:08
Love the shirt by the way! 🤘🏻
Guess it becomes which ever one I can find cheaper.
My TTI Combat has ran flawlessly. My groupings are better with it compared to my Staccato P.
I’m impressed!
Just paid $900 for my tti combat this morning. It took about 3 days of seriously looking for one to find it.
You should have put the word "whiny" on that T-shirt! 😉
Just picked up the TTI for MSRP they just got 10 of them in that day so I grabbed it.
A shorter barrel and slide on the rival s sounds sweet!
Thanks for the comparison
Second magazine, The smile gave away your preference before you spoke the first word. I have shot both of those pistols in this s.Model is by far my favorite one.
😁
I shot both and went with the rival s darkside. It wasn't even close lol. Tti was great but rival s Is different beast altogether
Full size optics will work with plate on Rival S...plate 2 for RMR on my Darkside S...maybe chrome different IDK. THE METE only uses the small footprint.
I found the tti on classic firearms for 999 yesterday. Which is much cheaper than many other sites when in stock
Academy has the TTI Canik for $799 rn with your academy card discount and first responders discount 👍
I all so paid way over msrp or my rival s, I’m in Houston and both guns sell as fast as they come in. The only shop I know of selling them for msrp is range USA. I bought mine from a mom and pop shop and paid 1100 for it with zero regrets. Hole after hole at 25 yards
i got both.
The Rival-S shoots much flatter than the TTi Combat and i think the TTi Combat is over rated IMO
you make both look like you can't go wrong with either one but I noticed Mrs.Gunsngear look like the TTI model wasn't very comfortable to shoot?
Any thoughts if you noticed a difference of comfort?
Thank you again for a great video!
I cc my tti daily. I have a comfortable holster and it just works lol. It imprints a smidge but no problem
Greatest tshirt of all time!!!
Think I may go with the Canik Rival now but still unsure cause I like the TTI Combat I'll make a decision soon.
I know this is strange but to me the Mete SFT Pro is the offspring of these guns. Shorter slide, threaded barrel basically the same trigger except plastic and more affordable. Thats the one I have my eye on.
One thing I noticed is the ejection of both I'll get into that later. The TTI got the brass out further and faster than the canik, and I don't know what spring you had in it. I bought a brand new 5 year old sfx a few months ago that was a trade in and I have been looking at canik for a while. It felt like it was sprung too stiff but the price was right. It would barely spit out the brass and stovepipe sometimes. After 100 rounds and a bath with the dishes it got better and the next 500 were almost perfect. I'm curious do they have a break in period or do I just need to change the recoil spring? First striker pistol I have ever owned and it is a early one with the white grip frame I call it the storm pooper. Shoots great just has a hard time pooping hahaha!
Getting that shirt lol !!!
TP9-SFX shoots great
TTi Combat shoots flatter than the TP9-SFX guessing due to the compensator
Rival-S shoots flatter than all 3 due ito its heavier frame
Not a weakling but sensitive to weight. I'll go for the lighter & faster TTI.
love that Canik TTI COMBAT , but seen it for $420 online great deal
You have seen a TTI combat online for $420? That doesn't sound right. Unless you mean $420 more than the Rival S.
@@keithwatkins2643 thats what I thought too but saw it
Just took my Rival S and TTI to the range for the first side by side comparison. I shoot low and to the left. I just do... So... The TTI iron sights does not have any adjustments, the Rival S does. I was able to adjust the Rival S to target where I was not able to adjust the TTI. BIG Bummer for me. I am going to put a red dot on the TTI and be able to adjust it to center of target for me... But side by side I like the Rival S over the TTI. But after the red dot on the TTI, we will see?? Did have a good pattern on the TTI, just not centered for my shooting... Rival S Wins Round 1!
That sounds more like shooter error than a sight issue. Make sure you are pressing the trigger not pulling it. A ton of people shoot low and left because they pull they trigger. I'm one that used to but I finally got pressing the trigger down pat and that problem went away. BTW I own a polymer Rival Darkside. I'm gonna stick with it and just upgrade that pistol into a full bore race gun.
The T-Shirt is completely in line with my life philosophy. Canik is taking chances, how can that be bad?
Did you use the replacement spring they sent since you were using the 147 grain? Or was that with the default spring that comes with the gun?
TTI grip texture looks similar to the M&P 2.0.
Wonder if the TTI optics footprint will eventually be implemented on the Rival.
it's all about finding the perfect fit for your shooting style and needs.
I thought it was all about survival?
@@nickyp9540 😂😂😂😂
Texture is a fixable issue. Thin strips of floor tape works well and is cheap.
I just got my Canik TTI at Scheels for MSRP. I’m counting my lucky stars.
Seen it for MSRP as well. I think at Classic and Battlehawk armory.
Sweaty Ben selling for MSRP?!? Say it isn’t so….😱
Got mine at my local gun shop for 899.99
I got a unicorn tti with a standard left slide release and they sent me a proper one with the serrations. I tried then back to back and the tti one with the cuts 100% makes a noticeable difference in slide stop leverage and grip. The texture is aggressive af and phenomenal imo. And I'm pickier about aggressive textures.
The rival s seems a lot like a cooler looking 92x
thanks for the report
They come with 18 round mags because of competition rules, I believe. It's been a couple years, but I know that's why Sig switched to 18 rounders in the 320X5 line up. Originally they came with 21 round mags, but there was a rule change in competition, so any completion level gun, should come with 18 these days.
I have the Rival s, and I want the TTI. Maybe I'm ok.
Are Caniks copies of the Walther PPQ? I am a Walther guy myself and have never shot a Canik, but other than some slight esthetic differences they look the same to me. How does their steel frame compare to the Q5 or PDP steel frame?
I wanted the S and never found it and found the TTI for $899 and grabbed it. I like it a lot. I really wish they had take the steel and had that as the base for TTI combat.
Academy has the tti version for around $900
Howdy
This should be good.
After 350 rounds I sent my TTi back to Canik. It fails to go into battery with both springs provided with 115 grain rounds. It's a very accurate gun and I'm hoping they can fix it or its gone.
Both!!!
absolutely
Thanks for your hard work. I have a question. Are you still sending the emails out. I haven’t gotten anything in a while.
Which do you think is a better gun the CanikTTI or S&W 2.0 Comp?
Okay I'm going to pause it right at the beginning. I just recently bought the TTI Combat and while shooting 115gr FMJ the spring that came with the gun wasn't haven't it. Stove pipes literally every other round. But after switching the spring that came with the gun it ran flawlessly. Okay with that being said let's proceed
TTI slide on the steel frame :)
Why? Because it's precious. Plain ol' Rival. I have a mete SFT with a rival trigger shoe that's great.
407K has a rear notch so I don’t lose sleep over the removal of the rear sights.
Canik for the WIN!
At current ammo prices 1K rounds is plenty to check reliability. The TTI version is going for over MSRP by up to several hundred dollars.
Indeed
What about the METE SFT Pro?
Is there a backstory as to why there are only 32 stars on his shirt? 5 minutes of Brave searches (still sounds weird, lol) have lead me to guess it may reference the time between 1858-1859, the years between the 32nd state, Minnesota, was ratified into the union, there was a conflict called the Mohave War. I've never heard of the conflict before today, but I like the idea of adding historical easter eggs into the merch.
