      I believe Basque is still hasn’t been linked to any of the language families, although there were some theories about African roots

      ​@@simpleman3663 Basque is considered language isolate, true. But it is nowhere near any less European language by any extent than all the rest here - it's rather the exact opposite.

    In Portuguese the word should sound like "gátu", not like "gatô".

      It's a reasonable approximation of the Northern European accents (like Minho or Trás-os-Montes). I understand that the channel often recycles the same pronunciation for Galician and Portuguese, and these frontier accents allow them to do this for a lot of words.

      @@diegoflores9237 - Nope, they used the same audio clip from Galician (not the castilian one) for the portuguese pronunciation, so there's nothing _"sensitive about being confused for Spanish"_ in my comment.

    In Standard German cat is Katze, but in dialects Katz is rather common. A funny word is , Dachhase' , because in poor times cats had been eaten

    In Romanian besides “cat” we also have the similar to Albanian “mâță” for “kitten”.

    In the Hungarian "macska", and it is similar to the Slovak, Sloven, Serb, Croat, Albanian etc. name of the cat. On the other hand, in the Uzbek "mushuk", Uyghur "müshük", which is more similar to the Hungarian "macsek" version. As far as I know this similarity may has two reasons. 1. The Hun, Avar, Hungarian relocations from Central Asia to the Carpathian basin. 2. Alexander the Great of Macedonia went to Central-Asia with his Albanian cats.
