Any idea why? Have you swapped original interior lights to LED as well or left the as standard? the current draw on standard globes is MUCH higher than LEDs and this could have been the cause of your failure
Man.. that's a great work! Sry for my English, I wanna ask u a question, can I use this tutorial for 2 external lights under the side mirrors? I got a Passat 3bg. Let me know! Thanks, and.. GREAT VIDEO! ❤
Thanks for this great video, is it perhaps possible to connect this cables 12 volts and ground directly at the fuses on driver side, what cable colour can it be? I have a VW Passat 3c variant.
Great tutorial, might I suggest that you don't stretch and tear your electrical tape. It eventually slips back and leaves a sticky residue, just cut it and it will stay put.
great video man - thinking to do the same but hoping the wires are already there for my z4 otherwise good to know it can be done to central interior light like this
Hi there mate..I like your method of doing the footwell..looks simple..but I just want to ask when u split those white wires open...did u just platter the day light running wire with that white wire and just simply tape them? Or do u do something to it first before u connect them and platter them?
you could of just taped the fuse box for the same wired your running from the dome light. that would of been much less work, pratically no work at all.
@Hussain Ahmed There is no fuse directly for dome light. The light is conected and controlled by CCM. It is simplest and shortest way to conect to CCM, but you must find the exact 2 wires. It depends on the CCM version you have installed. (with 2 or 3 connectors )
so i did this in my car and had one of my led lights connected through the dome light and it worked perfectly. than when i connected my second led light the dome light just stopped working ad wouldnt come back on. any suggestions here?
hm thats a good point! thanks i think you may have cured my gremlin silly me i never used any heat shrinks or tape and it was mid summer when i did the foglight to brake mod now its damp (im on the coast)lol brb i a quick fix to do lol :/ thanks again!
I tried using the socket from the interior lights, but after trying to install the third LED in the back, it seemed to blow the fuse. It is a 15 amp fuse and the LEDS only take up 0.39! Help!
Does your dome light has an auto-dimming function ??? If yes... does your footwell leds light a little bit even if the dome light switch is in the door position ???
Soulis TG Try to buy some non Chinese leds, because these leds are without resistance. The led is light with very little power too. (soz for my English:D)
Kele Szabi Yes... i know that... thats why i am asking him because i dont know if he has the same issue with this leds... because we cant see it on the video.
When I did this it worked fine with one led wired up but when I put a second one on for the passenger side footwell it blew my fuse for the dome light, electrics windows and central locking, anyone got any tips on how to make it not doing again because I don’t fancy finding somewhere selling fuses again at 10pm on a Sunday night😂
I tried this on my fiat punto mk2 before I found this video. Some people connect the Leds to the door switches. I wich I couls find a way to do this. The interior lights on my punto has a simple circuit but it has two diods inside and even I conect the leds to the already existing lights it doesnt work because somehow there is always current in both terminals.
May I suggest to all you people uploading video to learn first how to take steady video rather than non -stop movement that cause viewer to feel dizzy and like throwing up in your face.
This video is so much work.... what i did was take the power from the sigaret lighter to a 3 point 12V box ( which has buttons to each power point) and run a cheap led strip glued to the top off the foot area. Just each time i enter the car i just push one button and al my after market interior lights turn on. Way easier than this shit.
Not a great video I have to say, your not a flat earther are you?? You need to get some camera skills, maybe a stabilisation or multiple angles, this will ensure when you edit you can make it more professionally looking but (and this is constructive feedback not malicious) this video sucks dude. I would suggest looking at how some others do things and get either a mount or a few cameras so you can get different angles as the aforementioned suggests, until then I cant see you getting many views! Peace
Great video, thank you so much for your help. Keep up the great mods
Just did this today, it came out amazing. Thanks so much!!
Thanks! Might be doing this, I got all my interior lights led converted. :)
Looks sick mate, definitely going to do this to my golf
Cheers for the video, much appriciated.
Very nice! Thanks for sharing :D
love ur videos bro!!, im into german cars aswell as i got a 1.8t vw passat b5.5 sport :D
Nice job mate, I really appreciate about your interesting videos. Good Luck!
Brilliant vid, will be using a led strips so hopefully they work the same way as this.
videos are amazing. great tutorial :)
Great vid thanks bro
this video is awsome and i did it to my dads ford transit mk6 and now it looks wicked thanks BMAC CAR MODS
I can confirm this burnt out my interior light and the footwell lights with this method
Any idea why? Have you swapped original interior lights to LED as well or left the as standard? the current draw on standard globes is MUCH higher than LEDs and this could have been the cause of your failure
This video was upload on March 2015, how about now? The LED's still working normally?
hey man, swap those dome lights to festoon LEDs from ebay, your life will change
AWESOME 😊😊

Well done..
where could I get the red and black wire you said to get ? is it just standard electrical wire like you would use with a home hi-fi?
Thanks for this great video, is it perhaps possible to connect this cables 12 volts and ground directly at the fuses on driver side, what cable colour can it be? I have a VW Passat 3c variant.
Very useful I learned to install same
Good job! BMAC look link, then the person is powered directly from the block of comfort, it is closer, you can make a video report, subscribers handy.
Good job, Can I wire 4 DRL to domelight as my car is 4door hatchback??
hi mate this is wicked! is there a way to make them run off your headlight control thing
hey great video , can i connect each individual LED thing to each reading lamp and have it work with the reading lamps ? thanks :)
nice mod. ideas, install a 12v socket in the boot or centre console for the rear passengers.
What's the white wire you use? How do you tell positive from negative on that?
nice vid mate, take these auto dim?
if I can't get to the positive and negative easily in the light unit of my car is there anyway to wire it to the interior light fuse ?
Great tutorial, might I suggest that you don't stretch and tear your electrical tape. It eventually slips back and leaves a sticky residue, just cut it and it will stay put.
Thanks mate, really easy to follow your instructions. One question if I do it this way will the lights be on while I drive? I want them to be btw...
+James Heaton just plug the positive wire into Acc in fuse box and ground it to any metal surface
Hi bmac does this method work for welcome home lights so wen you unlock car the sidelights come on wire it to the interior light
great video man - thinking to do the same but hoping the wires are already there for my z4 otherwise good to know it can be done to central interior light like this
You can do it!
done mine today . cheers for the video . i used led strip lights
nice
how many light could connected with main wire
Now my car a Jetta 2011 my dome light is two separate lights where do I connect the wire to get that door terminal connection?
Hi there mate..I like your method of doing the footwell..looks simple..but I just want to ask when u split those white wires open...did u just platter the day light running wire with that white wire and just simply tape them? Or do u do something to it first before u connect them and platter them?
chillian xie I just wrapped them in to be honest. I know its no the most professional way but it is effective
+BMAC Car Mods my mate works in Ford bodyshop and they just platform them so you done right.
you could of just taped the fuse box for the same wired your running from the dome light. that would of been much less work, pratically no work at all.
john jkizer can you explain how you go about finding the wire within the fusebox?
@Hussain Ahmed There is no fuse directly for dome light. The light is conected and controlled by CCM. It is simplest and shortest way to conect to CCM, but you must find the exact 2 wires. It depends on the CCM version you have installed. (with 2 or 3 connectors )
Will you be breaking a car for spares soon? (Fantastic video, as always)
Can I do this on my Ford Fiesta where there are airbags behind the a pillars?
+Gazman997 ???
hi, can you advise me if you can take power from cabin light to power dash cam ?
Check the draw power of the camera. Might be too much for the lighting circuit. I wouldnt advise it.
so i did this in my car and had one of my led lights connected through the dome light and it worked perfectly. than when i connected my second led light the dome light just stopped working ad wouldnt come back on. any suggestions here?
+Sam Moreno sounds like a fuse
What kind of golf is that?
What wire is used for this mod? If anyone can help
Scotch Lock Splice Connectors would make the job even easier
hm thats a good point! thanks i think you may have cured my gremlin silly me i never used any heat shrinks or tape and it was mid summer when i did the foglight to brake mod now its damp (im on the coast)lol brb i a quick fix to do lol :/ thanks again!
What steering wheel do you have which the red stitching ?
check his channel, he got a vid for it. 3$ on ebay
He has a Volkswagen. GTI's also have red stitched wheels.
I tried using the socket from the interior lights, but after trying to install the third LED in the back, it seemed to blow the fuse. It is a 15 amp fuse and the LEDS only take up 0.39! Help!
Change all interior lights to LEDS, reduces current draw, which is whats tripping the fuse
Does your dome light has an auto-dimming function ???
If yes... does your footwell leds light a little bit even if the dome light switch is in the door position ???
...and the door is closed ???
(forgot to mention that)
Soulis TG Try to buy some non Chinese leds, because these leds are without resistance. The led is light with very little power too. (soz for my English:D)
Kele Szabi Yes... i know that... thats why i am asking him because i dont know if he has the same issue with this leds... because we cant see it on the video.
Sorry but I don't understand what you mean
BMAC Car Mods When you close the door... does the dome light slowly dimms off ???
If yes... check the leds if they stay on just a tiny tiny bit...
I did the same thing, but hooked it up with my headlights. the interior of my jetta lights up completely at night lol
Bro Is There Any Fault Coming On ECU? After Doing This? My Father Said It!
No
You should make a video on how to remove the VW badge on the rear hatch
spudger, and bondo
Show us hot to install a sport air filter, on a vw golf mk4.
Okay VW, it is a simple operation. But what about the Opels (Vauxhalls)?
What do you mean?
I have Mercedes c200 cdi 12 plate. Now your installation is exactly what I want to get done...can u sort me out?
Modou Jallow Yes of course, what do you need?
When I did this it worked fine with one led wired up but when I put a second one on for the passenger side footwell it blew my fuse for the dome light, electrics windows and central locking, anyone got any tips on how to make it not doing again because I don’t fancy finding somewhere selling fuses again at 10pm on a Sunday night😂

They are always positively connected (powered) and are negative switched. Pull out the multimeter and youll see with a bit of probing
i have no idea where the positive and negative terminals are on my interior light, see anywhere
Use a multimeter, they are cheap from hardware store. Plenty of vids on how.
what if I have side air bags.
rather have them on when driving, so i've wired them to my fuze
very good as usual
Going to try these with my Bluetooth rgb strips so I know what’s going on outside with my exterior lights
nice
Why wouldnt you just cut your wire by 75% and tap a fuse at your feet?
them lights need to be changed as they produce heat may burn off the cable insulation. LED that my brudda, nice video tho
LEDS still generate heat mate
May I suggest to all you people uploading video to learn first how to take steady video rather than non -stop movement that cause viewer to feel dizzy and like throwing up in your face.
Jesus christ atleast solder it properly lmao. Just wrapping the wires around eachother doesnt hold up at all
+FishSticksSmells Or even a luster terminal? :D
Mohammed Ali Anything!
+FishSticksSmells why solder when his method is quicker, works fine and is reversible
EazyDuz18 Because it's janky as all hell, solder is also reversible and is objectively better. I would not call that "works fine"
FishSticksSmells if lights turn on and off it works fine tho sooo
Clean ur car cnt fully enjoy the lights
I hope you're not a professional and that's not a customer car.
Not really bright
These act more like ambient lighting. If you want super bright you can add in bigger LED's

What happens when you leave it on and the battery goes flat?
Might as well buy a pair of led strips via cigarette lighter lol.
If you know anything about electrics you know this is a total and utter bodge
Not a great video I have to say, your not a flat earther are you??
