I like how Ushijima had a huge impact on those around him in middle school. Oikawa, Sakusa, Kiryu, and Shirabu. We also learned in an interview that he played against Bokuto in middle school. I also like how Furudate-sensei said, "He was the strongest until the end."
Ushijima accepting his left handedness as a blessing, that he is simply lucky, and the impact he had on his fellow top 3 spikers, and showing humility by changing his playstyle. One of the subtle yet best character stories in haikyuu!
Ushijima was an antagonist. But he was a antagonist to respect. Perhaps my favorite moment from him, was when he told Goshiki he'd be leaving the team in his hands.
i am so happy for the way he was written. i already liked him pre-timeskip, i liked him even more post-timeskip. the guy was thankful for what he has, what he was given, making sure to make full use of all of it with humility- which is a great mindset to have (especially when you know there're haters so he's really trying his best)
This is a video I was happy to see on my feed. I love analysing high performers and powerful characters in shows more than the underdog story, just because it feels more inspiring and a sorta "end goal" to aim at. Ushijima at first was just like "oh cool" but on reflection he's one of my favourite characters. He just speaks plainly and just focuses all his attention on honing his craft.
8:50 Perfect example of you may be the best player on your team or even the country but the stronger 6 remains on the court the longest. He who sits at the top must constantly adapt to remain on top. The Man, The Myth, The Legend.
Thank you. Your points and analysis are phenomenal and brings to attention insights of characters I wouldn’t have understood or even thought of. Awesome job!!! Know what you do is valuable and it matters!!!! also helps me to reflect on my strengths and if I am letting myself be limited by them
Ushijima and Sakusa i feel embody that same energy when they play being top 3 aces. However, Ushijima is the best at this through his sheer power and adaptability, while Sakusa is the best at risk factor and technique.
There's definitely people that hate Ushijima and wanted him to fail, but most people I've seen are just rooting against Shiratorizawa, not Ushijima specifically.
remember how good ishijima was everyone explores the favorites but they even eventually said in 2024 oikawa was “the best villian” in polls no paradise lost being second best and for antagonism ushijima beats oikawa
Great analysis! People often ignore Ushijima as he's just a strong antagonist, not realising that he faced his own trials and tribulations
100% a character with so much more nuance that it seems at first

How the mangaka manged to make him be basically a perfect sport antagonist but then later on make us respect and like him is so impressive.
Oikawa: "What do you think of my petty pride now?"
Ushijima: *contemplates for a moment* "I think it's fantastic."
i love Ushijima so bad yall don’t understand like he is literally the definition of HIM
