    As a Nishinoya stan, I feel like I should clarify: he isn't actually making his living by fishing for marlins, and he's not pursuing a life on the open sea.
    This is just one single step on his journey. He's travelling around the world, and partaking in all kinds of different experiences along the way. On that day, he was fishing, a while later, he was visiting the pyramids in Egypt - and who knows what he'll do next? His freedom means _not_ being limited to just any one thing, and instead doing as much as he can, in as many places as possible, and fully putting his soul into everything he tries.

    There so much to learn from hoshium's line. So many things it can apply to life to hobbies and even carriers. But these videos that 'lessons from anime' makes really do the anime and manga justice. Giving us reason why they mean what can do for us. From Shoyo's this is still volleyball to Oikawa's the villian i want to win. They are all defining and mean so much to me, and to so many more. These quotes and phrases can inspire people or bring joy to a bad day. And it doesnt end with that. The people and all theyre experiences even. the small ones will have a lesson in them

    I'm a drummer. When I started playing the instrument, I was always incredibly nervous when the various bands I played in gave a concert. The fear of messing up, of loosing the tempo, of playing too loud or too low, not showing an enjoyable performance on stage and much more, they all contributed to me not actually enjoying it.
    It all stopped though, when one day, during a concert session with various bands, I heard the band before us play their set. They were amazing and hyped up the crowd. Our band had been practicing a lot to get there and earned a spot to play that stage too. We had practice relentlessly. We were good as well. And when we started playing it washed over me. We could just be free to play however we wanted on that day. Ride with the emotions of the crowd to carry us, break the expectations of a silent song with an unusual solo or chord or dynamic movement, just be free to perform to our hearts content.
    Ever since that day, I know that, when I practice playing my instrument, I will be free to perform on stage the way I want. And I truly started to enjoy it.

    Love your videos! Think its great that you are starting volleyball. I started playing three years ago in highschool (I thought it was a girl sport before then, LOL) and have been through exactly where you're at now. I enjoy hearing about the progress you are making and wanted to give you a few quick tips to help you keep getting better! In my opinion, the most important part of getting better at volleyball is (of course) playing it. A lot. My first year of uni I spent an absurd amount of time playing at gyms, sand courts, or grass courts on campus. Take every chance you can to play, and make connections with other players so they invite you to play other places as well! My advice for practicing skill-wise stems from this same idea... practice your serves. All the time. When you are playing with a group of people (especially a new one), everybody likes playing with people who keep the game going. I would much rather have someone on my team that can consistently get a underhand serve in than someone who can sometimes get a jump top serve in. This doesn't mean that you should feel like everyone is judging you if you miss a serve. Just play to your best ability! Find that balance of playing for fun and trying new things, while also still working hard and trying to win. Sorry for the long rant, just kept thinking about advice I would give someone who is just starting out and figured I would put it into words for you. Hopefully you can find some meaning from this LOL
    p.s. One tip for practicing serves which is really really important to do is think about aiming where you want the ball to go. Every single time you serve you should pick a spot and try to get it there. It may seem pointless at the start (it definetly was for me) but it will help you understand how your body connects with the ball and how it feels when you get it right.

    Im a badminton player and you're videos really inspiring.... In my high school days I was a varsity player and through out those time i was never selected to represent our school i have a very weak mentality back then i hated the fact that im a varsity player at that time because my mom wanted me to, through out i was dilifently training even though it was so hard and frustrated until it just become a chore for me..... And now almost 10 years later and started to learn how to love myself i began playing again its just frustrating to see that im not able to play at high a level in our club but instead im playing with players with sub par skills but yah so am i my physicality is so washed up but my fundamentals are still there i am slow and my lack of stamina is always creeping in. Its just frustrating to see the high level players having fun while I feel like chum playing with some other chum, but nonetheless i love the court and at some point i was doing self training, and yeah hopefully by more time and more court time i am able to have those fun games where as the concept of win or lose didn't matter as long as you had a very competitive game and always going all in is the most fun i could ever wish for

    Nice collab mate. I think most ppl already know that being strong means being free, whether it's being financially, academically, physically, or mentally strong, etc cos it gives u the respective freedoms to buy more stuff, get into better schools/jobs, do better at sports, achieve more, etc. No offense, but that's obvious. In most areas of life, isn't it clearly the case that the strong are free to do whatever they want? The problem is what if I'm not yet strong? How does this help me to be free in the present? How can the weak like me be free? What if unlike Hinata, I don't have a track record of being somewhat strong to give me the confidence I need to start working towards being stronger? What if I was a prisoner in a concentration camp and I'm not the one with the strength; can I still be 'free' or should I get depressed cos I can't be physically free? What does 'being free' even mean on a deeper level?
    I think the definition of being free is being happy and contented. If u think about it that way, u can be free whatever your situation in life. It's not about being strong cos strength is relative and sometimes subjective. What if I was considerably strong after working at something for many years, but when I reached the 'top', I realized there are so many others above me? Suddenly, I don't consider myself 'strong' anymore and my 'freedom' doesn't seem quite so 'free' anymore cos I can't do, buy or lift as much as others. Does it mean I have to get EVEN stronger just to be free-er? It will never end! In that sense, ironically "being free means being strong" cos if I'm free from comparison, expectations, etc then I am strong (ie confident, contented, positive, mentally healthy, etc). Sorry for the long rant lol. Just some thoughts off the top of my head...

      @@LessonsFromAnimeI had the same feeling once Hoshiumi was first introduced in the anime, and to be honest I think it roots in a sort of jealousy. For 3 seasons you’ve been rooting for Hinata’s journey in volleyball and his dream to become The Little Giant, then suddenly there’s this other short player who has already claimed that title and is miles ahead of Hinata skill wise. And I don’t think you can help that some people might feel some secondhand jealousy (myself included). It isn’t until I learned about Hoshiumi’s struggles in the manga that I learned to have respect for him, and accepting Hoshiumi as the Little Giant once I realized that Hinata was never meant to be The Little Giant.

    • @LessonsFromAnime
      @LessonsFromAnime  3 месяца назад +2

      I was pretty baffled initially but that actually makes sense to be fair... to me I saw him as a beacon of hope for Hinata that proved he could make it too, but I can definitely see that perspective.
