  • Time travel back to a 60's Paris café for an impromptu fashion photo shoot August 6, 1966.
Published with the kind permission of Walter Albrecht. Walters father took the film with an 8mm movie camera. Walter subsequently digitized the film.
Restored and AI enhanced with Sound by Glamourdaze.com
We love the spontaneity of the fashion show. It could only happen in Paris. Some of the dress styles reflect the obsession by Parisian designers with the space age and have dated. Our favorite outfit in fact is the dress worn by the proprietress of a nearby clothes shop 0:27. She looks effortlessly chic.

Realizing that the 85+ year old woman walking by was born in the around the 1880s. Imagine all the changes she saw in her lifetime. Changes in technology, science, and fashion. We were born in hospitals and brought home in automobiles. Can’t even imagine her life.

truthseeker7564, my grandmother was born around 1898. She had my mum very late. My mum had me somewhat late. So spent early years with someone who recollected things that are unimaginable today. Funny memories...remember a couple of odd times whilst I was a teenager I told off ppl in their 50s for their "outrageous " behavior. 🤣

@@megan2176 I only know from my grandmother born in the 1920s who would encourage us to dress in beautiful colors. She was a Christian woman born in a Muslim country who moved to the US in her 60s. She grew up in a very different world than I did and a different part of the world. She dressed very conservative sometimes in black and never in her life covered her head. She would tell us to be vibrant and dress vibrant. She mainly wore a house dress with flowers when cleaning and cooking but wore black to church and when we went out. She was old fashioned but very open minded for us. I dressed in black only as a teen and she’d say you’re young enjoy your youth open yourself up to different ways of dress.

I was 16 in 1966. That was a wonderful time for fabrics, so colorful and wild. We could make simple shift dresses with very little fabric, at a time when sewing clothes was actually cheaper than buying them. But few people wore high fashion even in San Francisco, where I lived. 💖

I am French and Parisian it would seem by observing although the film was shot in Monparnasse district of the fifteenth arrondissement with around the cafes/restaurant "l'Apollinaire" " La Rotonde" "La Coupole" the rendezvous has all eras of all artists especially of all the great painters of the world , Montparnasse was during the Roaring Twenties (1920-1930) the center of cultural life, with Picasso, Matisse and Modigliani etc.
Montparnasse became famous in the 1920s, called the Roaring Twenties, and the 1930s as the heart of intellectual and artistic life in Paris. From 1910 to the beginning of World War II, Parisian artistic circles migrated to Montparnasse as an alternative to the Montmartre district, which had been the intellectual breeding ground of the previous generation of artists. The Paris of Zola, Manet, France, Degas, Fauré, etc., a group which had met more on the basis of affinity of status than real artistic tastes, indulging in the refinements of dandyism, was at the opposite end of the economic spectrum, social and political of the emigrated artists who lived in Montparnasse. This grandmother dressed in black who crosses the field of the camera without emotion and who seems to have been born around 1880 certainly lived in this neighborhood which makes her a woman who knew in this neighborhood more celebrities than all the commentators of this little film . Translated text from French to English by Google translation. Once again congratulations to Glamourdaze.

It was revolutionary and liberating, but it still had that charm and uniqueness that most of today's clothes, which make everyone look the same and seem overly casual, dull and meant for sportspeople, lack.
