Oh gosh.. I am so heartbroken. I woke up this morning and thought it was curious that my Jane Birkin video had a spike in views and comments but thought nothing of it until I saw the first “RIP” and my heart sank. I didn’t believe the commenter at first. And immediately opened Google, only to confirm the heartbreak. I’m not one to usually feel attached to celebrities, but Jane is one of the exceptions for me. She has been an influence of mine since I was a young teen, as i express in this video, and so in many ways I feel as though I’ve carried her essence with me from girlhood to womanhood, as many women and girls have. I wanted to reiterate a quote I mentioned in this video by Jane on death: “We are all a little scared of death when we feel it approaching. The idea is so distant, so abstract. We have trouble imagining it. Over the last three years, I have come close to it twice, and, surprisingly, I didn’t panic. I was more frightened of not having time to say what I wanted to say, to leave things in order, to be forgiven.” Thank you to everyone who is coming to my video to pay respects to a wonderful woman, and honour her legacy together.💖 Rest in Peace lovely Jane.
Seriously, so sorry for your loss. Make sure to attend your stages of grief. Of course you feel as you do. Very sad. She was still kinda young, amirite? Thanks for the video.❤
i recommend reading her book - a collection of diary entries simply called ”Jane Birkin”. between old entries she reflects on her notes and the time they were written in; a wonderful read
I was terrified to turn 30, and i mean TERRIFIED. I'm now 38 and the happiest I've ever been. of course youll miss the magical 20s, and have moments of half exciting and half stomach dropping moments...but your 30s and 40s are filled with a beautiful sense of content that cannot be described as anything other than otherworldly. :)
I love this ❤️ I, like everyone else, fear growing older and ageing despite my efforts to unlearn this thought pattern. But I do sincerely believe you when you say one’s 30s and 40s are often better. I look forward to getting to know that version of myself. Thank you for your comment!
I was the same way. Terrified of turning 30. I think I spent my entire 29th year in a state of existential dread. But now that I’m in my 30s, I wish I could tell my past self that everything will be okay. I am more confident and self assured now vs. my 20s. I’m not as critical of myself and I don’t accept shitty treatment from people like I did in my teens and 20s. It sucks that women are made to feel like their lives are over or they’re old before they are even middle aged. The older I get, the more I unpack the things that I was told to want or value and try to figure out what I actually want from my life. I didn’t even figure out I didn’t want to have bio kids until I was in my 30s. I feel like I’m just figuring out who I am vs. who I thought I should be.
I could not miss my 20s if I cared. I was totally miserable then, broke, lost, constantly heartbroken, incredibly noive, had no idea what to do with my life or myself, didn’t even want to be in this world 60% of the time. I am 42 now, look better than I did then and feel like am only now starting to live my life as I’m supposed to. Have finally found my research topic after having just published this book, straight on applied for a financed PhD and got in. My life is only starting now, everything else before was just practice and most of it was bad too. My entire life I could feel, I just knew, that I was a scientist, but because I didn’t yet know what my research topic was I spent decades going from meaningless job to meaningless job just to make ends meet, and being miserable. Stopped dating almost a decade ago because when you are lost you only attract toxic, the absolute worst for your life. So yeah y’all can keep your twenties and thirties, cause my 40s are when I am starting. Still have a lot to heal from the past two decades, but I feel like finally being able to do what I love for a living will really help with that. Look better than ever too, still have the same body I had at 19 because I never had children, and have always looked younger than my age. I look at people in their 20s now and can only hope that they are better prepared for life than I was at that age, but I’m not sure that that’s always the case. See all these young girls trying to go the easy route with only fans pages, not considering how much they will most probably regret it in a few years time. At least my 20s mistakes are not plastered all over the web forever for everybody to see. Most people in their 20s have no idea who they are. The search is harder for some than for others. For me it was hell, and I’m glad that that’s over. Never looking back. Here’s to being 42 and being able to finally be me, totally and unconditionally.
I work in a store in Paris and she stops by from time to time. Sometimes tourists are in the store at the same time, wearing styles clearly inspired by her younger self but they dont recognize her... it's quite a weird situation to witness. Anyways, she's very friendly!
Rest in peace Jane B. She kissed me on the cheek on New Year’s Eve, before covid in London. Truly a kind lady. It was at the standard hotel she was doing the New Year’s Eve countdown and I was working the door for the upstairs restaurant. I sneaked up from downstairs to listen to her sound check and the countdown. I snuck out to the roof about 30 minutes after midnight and bumped into her on the narrow staircase, my fur coat and basket in hand. She recognised me and my proudly engaging hanging off of her soft voice on the mic. Indeed my knowing all the words, amongst a tightly packed albeit a somewhat awkward fashion-conscious crowd. I didn’t even have to say anything she said happy new year and grabbed me for a hug, her eyes lit up. Gave me a loving kiss on each cheek looked me in the eyes and said “Ah! Thank you ! “ I will never forget it, her, that immediate unbounded kindness and warm embrace. She could tell I was, without words, even as only briefly being able to be there for the whole set (as I was working the door, downstairs). She silently acknowledged so gracefully my reverence and appreciation for her presence and body of work. R. I . P jane birkin. Love Josephine JJxx
I wish I had discovered Jane Birkin in when I was a teenager. We had a very similar body type and I was incredibly insecure and bullied in a similar fashion . Her confidence was such an inspiration especially because she had to develop it. Some people seem to be born with natural confidence and for others it doesn’t come easily. Jane Birkin was an icon and an artist. She will be sorely missed.
There's such a distinct philosophy behind her beauty and essence which captivates most. I love how her meaning behind beauty only matured with grace as she aged. So inspiring considering this time of anti-aging against women pushed by the majority of beauty corporation and main media. We all need a little Birkin in us
I agree completely!! Some of her statements felt healing haha. I feel similarly about Audrey Hepburn’s sentiments on ageing, when asked in her later years if she wanted her wrinkles photoshopped she said “Don’t you dare touch any one of those wrinkles, I earned every single one of them.”
Nearing the age of 40 myself hearing Janes words are giving me encouragement ❤ I too fear the day beauty leaves, but as a human one needs to always cultivate something beyond beauty that is timeless.
I also think that women 40+ are definitely beautiful! I hope we can shift the narrative and start recognizing that women are beautiful far beyond the age of 25. Although I do agree with you, that we also should cultivate a sense of identity that is unrelated to our physical appearance. 💖
Your words on how you first admired Jane Birkin for her beauty and style, to now respecting and admiring her for her intellect, wisdom and creativity is exactly how I feel about her. She’s truly incredible and timeless! Great video ❤
Love, would you mind doing a video essay breakdown on Monica Bellucci? For me, she is my style icon and something about her is so enchanting to me (aside from the obvious that she is UNBELIEVABLY gorgeous). Her mannerisms, charm, mysterious aura, the way she holds herself in both how she speaks and acts. I would love to learn and emulate her ways as they inspire me in what I would love my ideal self to be like.
Did you know she is playing Maria Callas in New York atm? Outside-the-box casting... and brilliantly inspired. Particularly special, as I believe Callas was born 100 years ago this year? Bellucci is as brave an actor as she is stylish and beautiful
Hello, Thank you, I have just watched your fabulous video on the inimitable, adord igenue, Jane Birkin, singer, actress, muse, fashion icon and much more than words can express. This, with many others, is a lovely tribute to her on the sad news of her death, bless her. I am sure she's flying high reunited with her loved ones in paradise but a beautiful and very special light has gone from the world. My condolences to her family, friends and all those for whom she was an icon. Xxxx ❤ RIP.
I have received a few very rude comments on my pronunciation of some French phrases. If you are being kind and offering a correction of the phrase, that is very much welcomed, and I thank those of you who offered corrections with kindness! But I will not tolerate being belittled or disrespected. I have studied French, I have spent time in France with little problem communicating. I am aware that my French is far from perfect. But if you are commenting something snarky such as “it takes one second to Google a phrase” you are making a rude assumption about me. I googled every phrase to try and double check the pronunciation and ensure I said it correctly, I do this with all words of all languages that I am unsure of in my videos. Though as I am making this on my own and French is not my first language I am of course bound to make mistakes. Someone commented that I was being “disrespectful to the French langage” which is rather ironic when Jane Birkin herself was famously bad at French when she first rose to fame in France and she herself is quoted in this video stating she made little effort to improve it in her youth! Additionally, making earnest mistakes in a language is FAR from disrespectful. I would never dream of belittling someone for speaking imperfect English. I get incredibly nervous speaking French, and I tried my best. Because of my nerves surrounding the language I wasn’t going to even put the original French phrases in at all, but I decided to try and step outside of my comfort zone and try. Though next time I will likely just put the English translations. If you are incapable of being kind in your correction and instead opt to make a rude comment about this you will be blocked from my channel.
I'm french and I didn't even notice anything bad with you're pronunciation so it must not be that bad ! Don't pay attention to negative people on the internet they would never say that to you in real life or they must be small-minded people. The more success you get with your videos the more negative comments will come unfortunately because that's the law of the internet and they will try to exagerate everything to make you as insecure as they are. Keep going, you're video was the best I've seen on Jane Birkin by the way, I love her and you did her justice ! ❤
@@warisdirie7976 Ah thank you for your kindness and words of encouragement. Your comment is much appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment, I’m glad you enjoyed the video☺️💖
You’re video was incredible. And I am very happy I watched today at 4 in the morning. It was beautiful and also sad, because I am turning 30, and i feel a shift in my life now. This video just made me more at ease knowing what jane said about being in her 30’s. It was poetry to me the way you spoke about her.
French is my first language. Your accent is fine. There is absolutely no problem with it. Don't bother with these annoying french wannabes whose only exposure to french and france is the 1 week trip they made 3 years ago.
Her Vogue 2019 interview is my absolute favorite. I feel like what makes me love Jane Birkin even more is her honesty about her feelings and her vulnerability. She isn't afraid to say that she's sensitive and easily cries, or how jealous she would get. I think it's also interesting how we view her as this icon when she always downplays herself or would compare herself to other women of the time such as Bridgette Bardot. Even with her relationship with Serge, I thought it was interesting how she described how insecure her and Serge would get when it came to their looks.
I knew absolutely nothing about Jane Birkin before watching this-I didn’t even know the Birkin bag was inspired by her! I really love her comments on getting older; I’m 41, and the advent of social media has really made me super self conscious about aging. I spent my teens & 20s reveling in male attention, because it made me feel validated. In my 30s, the attention slowed down. Or maybe I just didn’t pay attention to it like I once did. I absolutely dressed for the male gaze, and wouldn’t even go get gas w/o a full face of makeup. Now, I wear minimal makeup and dress for myself, and comfort. But I do feel that endless pressure all women feel, to magically stop aging & look forever 18. Social media really, REALLY makes me fear aging as I never did before. It’s so refreshing to hear a woman embrace it, and lean into it & all the good things that it also brings. No, I don’t look like a baby faced high schooler anymore, but I do feel more like my true, authentic self than ever before.
It gets easier as you get a bit older, I think!❤ I'm 52, and I'm only just now getting to a place where I no longer feel that ...I don't know, stress?? Pressure maybe? Now when I go out, I aim for classy & elegant older woman. It's alot easier to just be who you ARE as we get older, IMO! ❤✌❤
She is such an amazing person. Unapologetic, but also vulnerable, such as not being afraid to say that she was jealous. She makes me excited to grow older rather than afraid and anxious
This right here… this is what it’s all about. I really did not know much about her but learning about her death made me curious and i stumbled upon this video. By the end i shed a tear. You did her legacy justice with this video that was created before her passing. And there will be many more like me who stumble upon this amazing video that will leave amazed by who she was and it’s because of your amazing work with this video. So thank you 💕
this was a wonderful video! I was very moved by what she had to say about aging, and then nearing the end of life. she seems very free, and that is something special.
Thank you very much. This was a wonderful tribute, well-written and a feast for the eyes. So many wonderful photographs which brought the period to life. Thank you for the heard work and time in putting all this together.
I'm french, so first i'm sorry for my english (btw your french accent is cute, don't let others bully you ;)). I have a bit of a problem with the way the lovestory with Gainsbourng is romanticized. He was a horrible person, groomed a lot of girls, was borderline p*dophile & abusive. There's a song by him where you hear a women crying. Here's the story behind this : Jane just had a bad phone call, locked herself in the studio where he was working and cried a lot. Hearing that, he thought it was perfect for his new song, so he secretly recorded her, and put it in the song, without telling her. Don't tell me this is not abusive... And there's a lot of story like this on that guy. So... maybe she really loved him, but he wasn't the perfect husband at all, and I'm sad she never realised that... (Another story I hate, but not about Jane : he wrote a song for France Gall, "Annie aime les sucettes". She was 18 when she interpreted it and didn't understand it was highly sexual... but it was a good laugh for Gainsbourg... When France Gall realised what she had sung, she was really embarrased... you can imagine the effect on a young girl singing that in 1966... I'm sorry for the long post, but I really hate how toxic he was with girls and women...)
That "sexy" photo shoot where it looks like he's slapping Jane around gives me chills. Maybe it was consensual and all, but it looks like the usual mid-20th century abuse passed off as sexual liberation.
While I agree with you that by all accounts, Gainsboirg was abusive and into young girls, perception is reality. If Birkin absorbed more positive reinforcement than negative, then the reality, for her, is that it was good. When the bad outweighed the good, she left. She was not a helpless victim, and eloquently explains what the earlier days of the relationship brought her, and helped her to blossom and become herself. Life can be quite complicated. I understand her sentiments and decisions, and I respected her. I'll miss her.
@@ColetteV If that guy grew up and lived today, he'd be the head of the redpill movement maybe lol...with Serge's signature trolling style (like how he changed the french anthem to smth reggae for a shock shlock), this guy would be RP on acid. He's be cancelled for his comments about the young girls.
I'm close to Jane's age, just a couple of years younger. Just found out this iconic Brit aka "Francophile with three daughters, one passed on, has passed on as well. I had three daughters as well and lost my middle one at age 41 a couple of years ago. I remember being in Europe the summer of 69 and her hit song J'taime moi non plus"! She also reminded me a bit of British model Jean Shrimpton in the late 60s/early 70s, long straight hair with bangs , doe eyes and pouty full lips! Will miss her, may she rest in peace, another beautiful inside and out angel in heaven!💔♥🗼🫖👗
I would rather carry her basket purse than a Birkin all day everyday. I own a basket similar and it never fails to get compliments. I enjoyed your video, good job.
thanks for this, I learned a lot about Jane Birkin from your video. With her smile , I could imagine Jessica Pare playing the role of Jane if there was ever a biopic made of her
Do not pay any attention at negative comments. I want to thank you for your time on making this video, which I enjoyed so much watching, and encourage you to do more. Excellent video ❤congrats and thanks again 🥰
It’s sad that in 2023 we still look on this romance through romantic lens, I see here a classic using of a young insecure girl by a adult man who didn’t know what it means to love... does society still approve of this?
@The night porter I didn’t insist that he was bad guy, but as adult person I can understand I that this isn’t an fair union, it’s one person patronizing another, molding her as he wants, the girl herself said that she had low self-esteem at the time, it’s a good base for such relationship, in such an unequal union that psychological dependence often arises
As a french I honestly don't see the hype around him, he loved making songs about sex for underaged girls to sing and even has a very disturbing song he sang with his daughter... he was being shocking for the sake of it. People call him genius, maybe...
What a great break down. It's video essays like this that reveal about a time made new by perspective and the obvious care, passion you have for the material, really gives us new found respect for those we will NEVER MEET. How different things were, and how the same things manage to remain
Jane's natural style is what today's 'influencers' assume they have. Not so. Despite the heftiness of their bank account. She knows how to strip down. Her clothes never overwhelmed her. She wore the clothes, the clothes didn't wear her. Fast forward today, and we see examples of 'trying too hard'. This was well done. Peace
When I first saw images of her on Pinterest I didn’t know who she was. I thought she was contemporary, that the pictures were current. I loved her style. It seemed simple, timeless, classic and natural. I remember thinking “we need more influencers like this”.
The video is awesome, I dare to say that I diverge with Jane about the 40s, I've seen a lot of women be incredibly beautiful at this age, I also think you shouldn't give up on something because of it, I think it's like saying "I'm whatever years old, so I can't be happy anymore" honestly, I think Jane was a bit depressed but maybe she wouldn't admit it. She will always be a style icon for me, though.
Yes I agree! I found many of her sentiments surrounding ageing very profound, but I agree women are often still incredibly beautiful as they age, and still look wonderful if they decide to wear makeup and dresses and get all dolled up. I mean look at Dita Von Teese who’s 50 and still as feminine and striking as ever in her extravagant outfits, hair, makeup.
"Wisdom, intelligence and artistry", I couldn't have made a better choice of words to describe what she transmits to me! She's so charming, bubbly and unique, I would love to be her friend!
I’ve enjoyed your video very much. In it, you’ve documented what in my opinion is THE most important understanding about beauty and women. A beautiful woman is not defined by a pretty face nor some perceived perfection of her body measurements. A beautiful woman will always be defined by her own embrace and acceptance of herself. Yes, Jane Birkin has more than a few physical characteristics that make her sexy and attractive. But the allure of a beautiful woman will always rest with her own view of herself. This healthy view of herself is her well. And from her well comes her kindness, her critical thinking, her lust, her creative expression, and yes, her love. I am a 63 year old man. Across my life, I fell in love with a more than a few women who, at the time, I felt did not really see themselves nor truly appreciate their own beauty. It’s funny, as a man who was in love with them, my words seemed to be the least convincing in changing how they viewed themselves. But across time and through their own processing and experiences, to see a woman come into her own is such a wonderful thing to witness.
Loved the Melody Nelson album and listened to it on repeat in the late 70s. I remember watching Jane and Serge on French TV singing Je t’aime non plus. It has never been banned in France thank goodness😀
What a wonderful channel! I love your explanations aligned well with great photos :) I've always loved 60s icons including Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot, Francoise Hardy, Patti Boyd! Thank you :)
Thank you for this video. I lived in France for a yr when I was 19. I was wondering why French ppl loved this weird looking singer called Serge Gainsborough. Then I heard his songs…..and later I came to know of Jane Berkins. But I didn’t know about her parents and insecurities. This made her not just a pretty girl with good taste for me. And their love is inspiring
I really like her style. I'm just 37 but already have men's sweatshirt in my closet 😁 I like how baggy clothes looks on me. And I have similar body type
I have the same birthday (not same year) as Jane: December 14th. This is the sign of Sagittarius. It is a masculine sign and so the slim hips and tomboyish look is not surprising. I saw Jane in "Blow Up" and "Le Belle Noiseuse."
Best video I've found about her, im really in love with her persona, she is amazing and super admirable, the work that u put into this video is also admirable
loved this video! i relate to her so much. love that she wears her heart on her sleeve and seems very introspective. also loved her view on aging for women. i subscribed instantly ! you should do one on francoise hardy
i loved this video, I always adored 60s fashion--Jane Birkin is in fact one of my most saved on Pinterest--and she was always so fascinating to me. Despite only ever watching Wonderwall, I really liked her through her pictures. She seems very down to earth.
I didn't know much about Birkin but I found enjoyed learning about her. The latter half of this video really hits, especially those quotes that show how Birkin's ideas around age and gender have shifted over time. When I think about how I want to approach my upper decades, I want it to be with that same grace and understanding. Anyway, thanks for making such a cool video and I'm looking forward to watching the others in the series.
Jane Birkin is the ultimate it girl for me. I absolutely adore her. It's also timely that I'm seeing this and her stance on age because I'm turning 30 in September and my past couple of birthdays have made me so depressed. I feel like I'm not ready to be 30 but I hope I can embrace it.
I like the level of confidence and freedom that allows Jane Birkin to say that feminine styles and wearing makeup don't age well on women in her later years.. I think she's mostly referring to herself lol. She can wear men's clothes and no makeup and be confident because she slowly and steadily built her feminine essence and confidence up during her younger years ❤ I get it girl
I think it suited her because she always had a boyish body and look. Won't suit everyone, certainly not me! But I like how she pondered how to dress and be as she aged. It's more challenging than I thought it would be.
One of my favorite actresses is her daughter Charlotte Gainsbourg, I never watched her films, but she seems like a cool lady. Her daughter is exceptionally talented, one of the best of any generation. Jane passed her generational talent onto her daughter.
I think this is really well made, I’m happy to have found it! I remember Jane or Serge mentioning that he was nervous or a bit jealous on Birkin being in La Piscine with Alain Delon.. so without checking the timeline, I think their movie (or relationship at least) came before, not after La Piscine. Anyway I will be subscribining, you are so great ❤️ amazing work!
I love Jane Birkin's looks and style, she's truly my favourite. I don't understand her fascination with Gainsburg, I had never seen their "erotic" photos, I think they're violent, misogynistic, cliche and frankly awful. I love the way Jane wears denim and that iconic sheer black dress, and I think small boobs are very youthful and elegant, she's a very classy woman and her daughters Charlotte and Lou are so stylish too.
I’m not sure if others have pointed it out but Jane Birkin did a few interviews correcting that story of the Hermes airplane story. Jacques Doillon actually destroyed her basket bag before her flight (“Jacques hated when things are gimmicky, and he thought my basket bag had become gimmicky”) so she wasn’t carrying her basket bag on that flight. What flew out actually was the contents of her leather agenda or diary/day planner. Which coincidentally was Hermes. Jean Louis Dumas told her, her *agenda* should have pockets. The Hermes Birkin was modelled directly after Serge Gainsbourg’s Hermes travel bag, the Hermes HAC. So it’s a smaller version of the HAC. Check airport photos of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, you could see Serge carrying a large HAC (travel Birkin) It is interesting realizing that even Jane Birkin’s most famous bag, she still indirectly references her great love with Serge.
A year or two ago I went on a deep dive into Jane Birkin's life and read all about her. I forgot a lot bc I have a bad memory lol but I admire her so much. I think I had watched Le Piscine with Jane and Alain Delon so I also did a deep dive into Delon. Super interesting too. He was a womanizer but also a great actor and could be charming.
My old man 3nded up hitchhiking with her around Europe and they even went to egypt in 72'to see the grateful dead together... well he always tells me god you remind me of her!
I always thought Serge Gainsburg seemed a bit creepy but hearing how he treats Jane’s daughters from before and after their relationship has changed my opinion.
I was more frightened of not having time to say what I wanted to say, to leave things in order, to be forgiven.”
Thank you to everyone who is coming to my video to pay respects to a wonderful woman, and honour her legacy together.💖

For me it was hell, and I’m glad that that’s over. Never looking back. Here’s to being 42 and being able to finally be me, totally and unconditionally.
I feel fantastic in my 50s!
I work in a store in Paris and she stops by from time to time. Sometimes tourists are in the store at the same time, wearing styles clearly inspired by her younger self but they dont recognize her... it's quite a weird situation to witness. Anyways, she's very friendly!
Omg that's amazing!
What shop ? If i may ask - i live in paris :)
^^^ yes what shop? if you don’t mind sharing
They must be Foreigners or French teens cause to millennials and older French people, she’s well known
She had nothing to prove.
Thank you ! “
I will never forget it, her, that immediate unbounded kindness and warm embrace. She could tell I was, without words, even as only briefly being able to be there for the whole set (as I was working the door, downstairs). She silently acknowledged so gracefully my reverence and appreciation for her presence and body of work.

I love her so much she sounds incredibly self aware
exactly omg
I just hate how the bag was intended for this spacious on the go mother staple, and somehow became 25k collectors item barely used on shelves

I would love to do Monica Belluci! Agreed completely, she is just captivating and has a timeless beauty. She’s one of my faves too!☺️💖
@@FinalGirlStudios YAY! I’m so happy to hear that. Thanks for responding, love 🫶
Same, I love Monica. She is so gorgeous ❤
omg and monica vitti!!!!!
Did you know she is playing Maria Callas in New York atm? Outside-the-box casting... and brilliantly inspired. Particularly special, as I believe Callas was born 100 years ago this year?
Bellucci is as brave an actor as she is stylish and beautiful
So gorgeous….Just utterly beautiful … rip Jane Birkin.
Xxxx ❤ RIP.
RIP Jane
What a sad day today. I came across your video and I really loved it. She was such an inspiring woman. ❤ Forever my muse
Beautiful inside and out, she had such an introspective look on life. RIP Jane.
Mon Cheri~☆ You did a Beautiful job with this☆
I would just delete the rude comments & pretend they don't exist because You my love, are the ☆ here
French is my first language. Your accent is fine. There is absolutely no problem with it. Don't bother with these annoying french wannabes whose only exposure to french and france is the 1 week trip they made 3 years ago.
She's truly an icon and an inspiration for a lot of us
I've only ever seen pictures of Jane, I never realized how intelligent she is. A modern philosopher
This now stands as a beautiful memorial tribute to Ms. Birkin. Very nice, glad it's here.
Well said! I agree with you, he gives me the creeps!
You are sooooooo wrong.
RIP Jane so charming you were.
thanks for this, I learned a lot about Jane Birkin from your video.
Would love to hear your take on Françoise Hardy’s style
Oh I adore her style! I may do a video on her as well ☺️
I second this!!!
@@Lemon.Girl14 YES! She is a truly fascinating figure in the Old French music scene
@The night porter he was old and ugly
As a french I honestly don't see the hype around him, he loved making songs about sex for underaged girls to sing and even has a very disturbing song he sang with his daughter... he was being shocking for the sake of it. People call him genius, maybe...

She is such a beautiful woman and has a fantastic style! Thanks for mentioning her, she would be a good one🥰
Couldn't agree more!!!!!!!
Great suggestion.

Peace
well people were "trying to hard" with their styles even back in the 60s and 70s. It has always been like that.
@what ever Yes, I agree with you, but we're discussing Jane Birkin in this documentary. 😉 🙌🏾
When I first saw images of her on Pinterest I didn’t know who she was. I thought she was contemporary, that the pictures were current. I loved her style. It seemed simple, timeless, classic and natural. I remember thinking “we need more influencers like this”.
When you are beautiful inside, beauty never leaves you ladies
Jane was amazing. So beautiful! Her beauty was inside to out. So gorgeous
Thank you so much for this great video of Jane Birkin!
R.I.P Jane🙏🌿✨
The video of her floating in the sky while talking about death really got me ;'( gonna misss her so much
This made me surprisingly emotional. I hope you don't let the rude comments get you down; this was really a job well done.
@@FinalGirlStudios Dita is a peach
"Wisdom, intelligence and artistry", I couldn't have made a better choice of words to describe what she transmits to me!
She's so charming, bubbly and unique, I would love to be her friend!
watching this a day after she passed and am emotionally wrecked
RIP Jane. A very nice job on this presentation.
This was well done. Thank you for producing such a wonderful eulogy on a beautiful woman whom I didn’t know much about.
Loved the Melody Nelson album and listened to it on repeat in the late 70s.
I remember watching Jane and Serge on French TV singing Je t’aime non plus. It has never been banned in France thank goodness😀
Merci beaucoup pour ce portrait incroyable de Jane Birkin
What a wonderful channel! I love your explanations aligned well with great photos :)
I've always loved 60s icons including Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot, Francoise Hardy, Patti Boyd! Thank you :)
Love this short documentary.Thank you for posting!
Thank u very much for this video. I loved every second of it. Jane is such a inspiration, loved seeing more of her. ❤
Best video I've found about her, im really in love with her persona, she is amazing and super admirable, the work that u put into this video is also admirable

Your video was so well written and composed it shows real investigation and dedication. Keep it up.
i loved this video, I always adored 60s fashion--Jane Birkin is in fact one of my most saved on Pinterest--and she was always so fascinating to me. Despite only ever watching Wonderwall, I really liked her through her pictures. She seems very down to earth.
I really love your channel. I wish it existed when I was a teenager.
Aw thank you!!💖
I didn't know much about Birkin but I found enjoyed learning about her.
A very well made video. An intelligent use of quotes and you concentrated on the important details of her life. Well done.
I felt the same way at 30 and trust me, just enjoy being your age. It's truly so young in the scheme of things!
I'll be turning 30 in November and I relate to what you said ♥
Loved Jane Birkin in LA Piscene with Alain Delon & Romy Schneider‼️💕👸💕💕
She was absolutely stunning 🤩
Her beauty is timeless
I like the level of confidence and freedom that allows Jane Birkin to say that feminine styles and wearing makeup don't age well on women in her later years.. I think she's mostly referring to herself lol. She can wear men's clothes and no makeup and be confident because she slowly and steadily built her feminine essence and confidence up during her younger years ❤ I get it girl
I think it suited her because she always had a boyish body and look. Won't suit everyone, certainly not me! But I like how she pondered how to dress and be as she aged. It's more challenging than I thought it would be.
Rest in peace beautiful muse and icon 🙏🕊️💔
One of my favorite actresses is her daughter Charlotte Gainsbourg, I never watched her films, but she seems like a cool lady. Her daughter is exceptionally talented, one of the best of any generation. Jane passed her generational talent onto her daughter.
Enjoyed this content after discovering she has just passed today. 🙏🏼

@@YvBernard Merci. I misspelled it by accident. You are very kind to point it out. Have a good day.
This video is so good - great job to the writer and editor 💗💗
Do one on Pattie Boyd and Monica Bellucci! My faves
I love Jane Birkin's looks and style, she's truly my favourite. I don't understand her fascination with Gainsburg, I had never seen their "erotic" photos, I think they're violent, misogynistic, cliche and frankly awful. I love the way Jane wears denim and that iconic sheer black dress, and I think small boobs are very youthful and elegant, she's a very classy woman and her daughters Charlotte and Lou are so stylish too.
oof, the timing of this comment
That she loved that ugly, violent alcoholic is absolutely beyond me!
Check airport photos of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, you could see Serge carrying a large HAC (travel Birkin)
It is interesting realizing that even Jane Birkin’s most famous bag, she still indirectly references her great love with Serge.
Beautiful documentary. You speak nicely.
Amazing video! It's a very interesting personality.
Could you make one of Francoise Hardy? I didn't find one that explains well her biography.

I didn't know anything about her and feel so grateful for this video, thank you very much💕
Beautiful, thank you!
Incredibly made. Subscribing.
Charlotte Gainsbourg, her daughter, is interesting as well. Melancholia is a great film with her
love that she sold her bag for auction and didn't treat it like an infant. unlike most people lol
She was a wonderful person who inspired many people of both genders to live better lives.
