"Learn how to use a prime lens."
The hidden pearl, the one lens approach that I love. Please, make a video explaining this, perhaps it's been done, I've never seen it.

Fantastic idea. Thanks, I’ll put it on the list.

Very good take on this stunningly good lens. Unfortunately, it feels like it's slightly longer than 35mm, especially with focus breathing compensation. My set simply isn't big enough to accommodate a 35mm that is, in effect, is a 40mm. For that reason alone, it just doesn't work for me. I'm very sad, because it really is wonderful.

You are correct about the focus breathing compensation. When making the video I completely forgot about the added crop. Didn’t think about it until editing. But your right.

For those who want exactly 35 without focus breathing and crop for compensation, there is sony 35 1.8, it is only slightly darker, doesn’t breathe, and much cheaper option.

That auto ISO is a thing a beauty. I don't notice much, if any, exposure adjusting going on. These cameras have come a long way.

Good point. It did better than I expected to do when I used it. Thanks for watching.

Great points you made. I have the chance to pick up a 35mm f1.4 GM locally for $800 with the box and bag and suddenly stumble upon this video lol. I’m currently using a 20-70mm G which I love because of the flexibility but when I want some lowlight and background obliteration I think the 35 will do.

I just bought the Sony lens but was really but off when I heard about the focus breathing and was thinking of returning it as I was going to be using an A7Siii with it

That sucks. Hopefully someday Sony will come around.

Very interesting! As expected, the Sony and Sigma are nearly identical on image quality. If they are side by side, you can barely tell, but it's rare that would happen. What was more interesting was how good the 24-70 GMii looked compared to the 35GM. Unless you reeeealllly need that shallow depth of field, the 24-70 is more versatile for most people. I own both and bare use my 35GM anymore. Great comparison!
