@ correct procedure would be removing the air box outlet pipes, the idler pulley, the tensioner and the cooling fan and pull it out the top, you only get 0.8 to remove and refit which is 46 minutes which is ridiculous
you two blokes are genuine. I gave my Ford transit on 50,000 miles to garage for timing belt loose Idle gear sprocket they replaced didn't tighten to correct Torque cam loose ruinee my engine.I at to buy new engine
My friend had almost the same experience. Bought a Fusion with full service history, 1 owner, low miles. Absolutely perfect condition and he got it at a great price. However, timing belt was overdue. Took it to a garage who messed up the timing and destroyed it. They tried to hide it too - he only found out when he turned up unannounced to see how they were getting on and they were part way through chucking some crappy scrapyard engine in it!
Great video, Nators can be a pain in the ass to wriggle out especially if they are mounted to the rear bottom of the engine I'm so glad mine is mounted at the front at the top for easy access.
Phenomenal work ethic. Can’t agree with not having a spare wheel though. I bought a new BMW X3 in September. Didn’t have runflats, didn’t come with a spare or even tyre sealant and pump. Puncture on Friday night -3C, dreadful. Had bought some sealant at my own expense but pump couldn’t inflate to 2.1bar without jacking up the car. BMW don’t provide a jack or wheelbrace. Poor tyre fitter had to clean out sealant when repairing the puncture.
I miss the old 4x4s with the spare attached to the boot nice and easy on your back with big heavy wheels, fair enough putting in or under the boot with a space saver or like a standard 16"
Nice work lads. I have one question? what happened with the oil leak on the alternator at 10:30 ? Is the owner just going to leave it and buy a new alternator again?
Brutal having to work outside in these conditions bro. I was lucky before Christmas - we got a few mostly nice days to fix a shitty Qashqai I got off ebay. Sometimes its difficult having to face rolling around on the floor in these temps when you can't feel your hands.
Lara & john my hat is off to you both troopers, working in the cold and in the dark, lots would have left and maybe come back another day, will the oil leak from the timing chain cover damage the new alternator further down the road, does he need to get that fixed, how far do you guys travel to do a job please.
Yeah he’s got it booked at a workshop already I believe. We can travel all the way to Scotland, just depends if they’re happy to pay for the call-out fee 😂 In all honesty, it depends on the job. If it’s worth it for us, we will absolutely travel to the customer
@themarvelousvlog come on use it!!! I left school and trained as a mechanic but gave up. How stupid look at the wages now 👍 I've started doing my own services because I just can't trust garages/dealerships. I'm going to use the mannol in the wife's car!!!! See how it goes. Can't seem to get all the filters from one maker!!!
You’re very right! Fixing that oil leak will require a workshop and not a mobile mechanic. The owner got the car booked now, what we recommended him to do
Did I miss something? Did that oil leak get fixed? The one that caused the old alternator to fail? If not, surely it's just a stop-gap repair to replace the alternator?
You could get yourselves a diesel heater for the back of your van, only costs around £70 on Amazon then yous won't have to freeze to death as you'll have somewhere to warm up.
i hope the owner took the garage to court for a refund of the work that wasn't even done properly or if they paid by card usually you can do a chargeback
My alternator packed up in my RROVER and I've seen various people on RUclips with broken RROVER alternators, so along with all the other problems you get with the RROVER is why I sold mine, it could be a good car but alas it's to unreliable especially for a car costing that amount of money. It's saying something when a cheap Dacia Duster is more reliable.
Will need a workshop for that mate. He’s already booked to get it sorted. Warned him that if he doesn’t get that fixed, the alternator will fail in no time
Working on stuff like that is soul destroying so fair play. I gave up years ago and enjoy watching what you guys are having to do now days. I’m just over 70 and having done similar for years salute you guys it’s certainly isn’t getting any easier 😂😂😂😂😂
My dad had a car like this, and you'll never guess what happened. The engine seized up and fell into pieces... Quality. It was very well serviced, anticipating unfavorable comments.
150 grand car that had a crap short life expectancy engine from day 1… who buys these things…people who don’t know a screwdriver from a 6 sided socket from an oil filter..…that’s who.😂😂😂
Well done guys BUT we can see why these vehicles have become so unpopular and the underside of that car looks in worse condition than my 30 years old car, how come!
Love your channel. I wish you had a million views, and subscribers. You Tube always buries your channel for me even though I subscribe causing me to search. They keep promoting crap that I don't subscribe to.
Mate there bad bad engines them if box has leak u won’t stop it without removing box been there done it not for me ppl don’t wanna pay and I service all dsg boxes
In street view Google Maps whilst looking around the south Siberian town of Kemerovo amongst the dirt roads with dilapidated bungalows and obvious poverty was parked.... A very shiny Range Rover Sport with some very dodgy individuals hanging around it. I thought all the stolen Rangies went to Eastern Europe or Africa. I cannot imagine this one drove all the way to Kemerovo as it would have broken down well before getting there. With 50% of the Russian population earning well under £360 a month these people must have had connections. I do not recommend you go there as a mobile repair service. That would not end well.
Got to admire you two you don't give up and are reall grafters with technical knowledge good luck mate's,
Thank you 🙏🏾
They're grafters not grifters.
i love the effort to explain everything, videos are brilliant, you boys deserve medals for showing how it really should be done
Thank you very much!
Great work lads, nice to see 2 young men doing good work 👍🙏
You boys have the hearts of lions I don’t know where you find your determination to finish jobs like these
Letting the youth and curiosity live is the secret 😁
Earning a living the hard way fellers! good on you.
We’re the real definition of road-men “back on the road again!”
Two brothers helping each other you and John are brilliant at what you both do great mechanics all the best love your videos!!!!!!
Kind words- thank you!
Hats off to you guys 👍
So did you do something to stop the oil leak just above the alternator from leaking onto your nice shiny new alternator or is that not your job?
Love the vids 👍 good guys it’s great to see
As a Land Rover technician I have to give you props cause these cars are horrendous to work on at times
Mate they are a pain! Did I take it out the right way? Is there an easier way out? 😂
@ correct procedure would be removing the air box outlet pipes, the idler pulley, the tensioner and the cooling fan and pull it out the top, you only get 0.8 to remove and refit which is 46 minutes which is ridiculous
@JPnda1 wow! Took us about 5hrs ☠️
@@themarvelousvlog it’s one of those jobs that never goes according to the book time 😂
Excellent work as always Lara, and hats off to you guys for doing this in the cold, outside and without a ramp, kind regards and take care chaps 😃👍
Thank you very much!
That car hasn't been £150k for about 15 years. It's about £10k now
🤣
So it was a £150k car… I see 😂
So it is a £150k car 😂
you thought you did something there didnt you haha
It's fucked not worth carrot fucked
When you have 100K + range rover with aliexpress led strip under bonnet 😂 embarrassing 😂
you two blokes are genuine. I gave my Ford transit on 50,000 miles to garage for timing belt loose Idle gear sprocket they replaced didn't tighten to correct Torque cam loose ruinee my engine.I at to buy new engine
That’s their fault, no?
@@themarvelousvlog Yes but they are denying it, so i have at to take them to small claims court.

Awesome content as always lads! Every days a school day hey.
Every single day!

Love your videos, skill and commitment but for the first 2 minutes it sounds like you were filing by a Tesco self service checkout 😂😂😊
Cam cover gaskets leaking on to the Alt, this is very common for the 5.0 V8 engine.
It’s insane how often this happens
You’re right about the spare wheel. Not only is it big, but even if you’re tall you’re at full stretch to lift it out.
Good work boyz long days sometimes 💪❤
I miss the old 4x4s with the spare attached to the boot nice and easy on your back with big heavy wheels, fair enough putting in or under the boot with a space saver or like a standard 16"
What landrover needs the body taken off to do and alternator
Well done boys bloody cold to be be working outside😊
Tell me about it! 🥲
Nice work lads. I have one question? what happened with the oil leak on the alternator at 10:30 ? Is the owner just going to leave it and buy a new alternator again?
No, he’s booked his vehicle in to get the timing chain cover resealed 🫡
My thoughts lol
Brutal having to work outside in these conditions bro. I was lucky before Christmas - we got a few mostly nice days to fix a shitty Qashqai I got off ebay. Sometimes its difficult having to face rolling around on the floor in these temps when you can't feel your hands.
How did you make sure the hose stopped leaking, was the flush enough or did you also replace the hose?
Sorry, I don’t understand this question. What do you mean hose leaking… what hose?
Lara & john my hat is off to you both troopers, working in the cold and in the dark, lots would have left and maybe come back another day, will the oil leak from the timing chain cover damage the new alternator further down the road, does he need to get that fixed, how far do you guys travel to do a job please.

Great job mga pare!
Horrible job in freezing temp ! Well done 👍
I've watched a few videos of yours where you point out what quality of parts you use. What do you think of mannol???
I’ve not used Mannol, personally, so I can’t really speak about it 😅

Not fixing the oil leak and replacing the alternator not good workmanship.
You’re very right! Fixing that oil leak will require a workshop and not a mobile mechanic. The owner got the car booked now, what we recommended him to do
You need a work shop lift to replace timing chain oil seals 😢
Correct!
@@themarvelousvlog lets be honest. thats not a new leak. its been leaking for a very long time. that customer isnt going to fix it,
How much would you charge to do a timing belt on a 2019 Fiesta ST
Ring them. Don't ask in here.
Get a set of quick jacks ASAP, it will save you a lot of time jacking up cars.
What a beautiful looking car
Always interesting videos guys 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Glad you enjoyed it
Possibly £150 grand new, not worth that at 98,000 miles and however old it is now.
The insurance may cost £150k now though!
when a mechanic does't know the difference between a range rover sport and a range rover, Id suggest givimg them a wide berth.
Great video as normal mate, what area do you cover and how do i get hold of you please
Thank you mate!
Please contact me on WhatsApp 07599662470
Thank you
Mate, if the oil leak was coming from the timing cover…won’t it continue to leak on the new alternator?
It will but owner have told me that he’s booked it straight in the following day 😁
The Marvelous Larva & CO
JLR is such JUNK!!!! 😊
Was oil leak repaired ? The one causing the alternator failure?? If so I missed it …
So much knowledge on old heads
great video marv
Appreciate it!
Didn’t the customer want his new alternator saved from the same fate as his old unit? Is the plan to fix the oil leaks at a later date?
Will the new alternator fill with oil??? Still leaking only a matter of time. Otherwise a good job.
That’s right! He’s booked his vehicle in already to get the timing chain cover fixed
Did you install that new alternator under that oil leak? If so, that's not going to last very long.
Yes but the customer booked it in straight away to get the timing cover sorted! 👍
you lads aer very efficient at your work peace
Thank you! Salute!
How did a alternator swap turn into a gearbox flush ???
Alternator replacement is a different job to the transmission flush mate
Did I miss something? Did that oil leak get fixed? The one that caused the old alternator to fail? If not, surely it's just a stop-gap repair to replace the alternator?
He’s got his vehicle booked in for repair already mate

why put a new alternator on when its going to leak oil on it again and fail?
We asked him to go to workshop straight away. Warned him about the situation and he’s already booked!
But didnt fix the oil leak???

Why did dash say 01/01/2013?
Time travel 😏
so how have they destroyed it decieving title as always
