- Well well well... another Citroen Relay catastrophe; funny that!
On this day, we replaced a slipped timing belt (cambelt in other words) on a 2017 Citroen Relay due to the water pump seizing. Well, that's not the only story of it, watch the video to find out more. We then travelled for another 2 hours on the same day to replace a 2016 Toyota Yaris 3 Piece Clutch Kit due to the owner reporting that it has been slipping.
We managed to finish both jobs on time and everyone is happy!
Hopefully this video is not too boring for everyone as I actually found this video very interesting!

little grafters
Ha! ‘Little’ grafters! I see you 😂👀
You two are magic.
I'd break out in a cold sweat starting a clutch at 3pm away from home!!!!
Very lucky owner on the Relay van, respect for doing the box on stands, I used to do that back in the day, passed lying in the road now
I think that’s where I’ll end up going to, a unit/garage
Seeing you two putting a good days graft in is great to see, I recon a few people could learn from you two, hard work beats talent.... keep up the good work
Well said
Just under 2 hours to fit a new clutch on a driveway. you 2 earned my sub!
great work fellas. needing a new mechanic as my old garage has just about killed my van. been using them almost twenty years. not going back there again. even lost the under trays for god sake. told me i needed a new engine, as they had it for a month and couldn't get it going, poor diagnostics. took it home and got it running myself. they were guessing and gave it back to me with damage from the timing chain cover, big oil leak, thanks, no gears, thanks again, only went in with a starter relay error, and i had the van from new. now sorting the deisel injector knock as they refitted the injectors without new seals......jeez.....
Great to see some real enthusiasm from these young men ! Great mechanics and the best to them both.
I,m addicted to your channel.
Great to see you fixed it, you know your stuff. You know what else is a breath of fresh air? someone who wont rip someone off. A mechanic could have quite easily have said "yes it caused damage" just to get more money out of someone and unfortunately there are alot of mechanics out there like that. Great work guys.
wish you boys were nr wakefield we need more guys like you around here love your channel and banter keep up the good work guys
Great job guys. I'm amazed that Citroën relay didn't destroy the valves. That owner was a very lucky man, it could've been prevented completely with proper maintenance. That water pump was obviously worn for a long time, and the owner still carried on driving it. Very quick work on the Toyota clutch, great job in crap conditions. Nice to see 2 young people like yourselves with enthusiasm for good hard dirty work.
We try our best!
You're Gifted man. Excellent team work.
No need to go to the Gym can always do a Clutch job in under two hours😂😂😂
Lightweeeiighhttt 😂 Only manageable under 2hrs because there’s 2 of us. Otherwise 2.5-3hrs if on my own 🤣
Please do me a favour and on the beginning of the video open your van side doors and show John sleeping in the van under pink blanket 😂
First time I have watched your video's and I want to say you 2 boys are really good mechanics. You did an amazing job on them two vehicles. Keep up the good work boys.
I did my wife’s c3 clutch the other day on the drive and took me 7 hours 😂
If you do it many times over, I’m sure you’ll be able to do it quicker. I’m just glad that you went out your way to do it. Props on you mate 🫡
you can tell when someone is tired from working to long... they tend not to make any sense. no worry's been in the trade for 54 yrs. retired now. can take naps when i need to hahaha... you do good work.. keep it going!!
Ah! Isn't John a handsome chap!
What an amazing outcome for the Relay owner, good job boys💪🏽
Thank you sir! 🫡
Great work guys love your vids
your flying there lad, great watch, very talented 👍👍👍
You both did well, very nice to watch..
keep up the good work boys
Genuine nice guys who do a proper job good luck with it all guys this channel deserves to be massive
I love watching the vlogs!! You have a great attitude and you always take pride in your work!! Respect!!!❤
I have Peugeot 407sw 2.7ltr, a cam belt snapped, took covers off & I think was 12 broken but not snapped rockers, changed all them, new water pump tensioners, cam belts changed oil, & filters, great that Citroen/Peugeot use the rockers as the weak link, saves a whole pile of money for repairs
great mechanics well done.
Enjoyed watching.
Good lads, well done from an older mechanic refreshing to see!
Well done lads !!
gosh, the cost of all that preliminary work prior to turning the key. You can understand why the dealer farmed it out. Lucky result for everyone.
1hour 55 mins todo a clutch now thats bloody good. Garage charged me for 4 hrs todo same car at a ripoff cost of 500 pounds
You done very well you and John are a really good team you are so good at what you do. Barry
Good days work boys , lucky van owner .
Your great guys good job
👍nice work lads
Good to see a young man on the tools, great work keep it up
Well done you guys
Smashed that clutch out 💪
Top job.
Poor lad, best wishes! 😊
Loving the channel
I really wish you guys were closer to me cos I would definitely have you work on my car 👍
Well done to you and keep it up
I also wish that as well 😂
Clutch replacement on my Nissan took me a week! Hats off to these guys!
Must be a 4x4? They usually take us a long time 😭
Fair do's you both crack on with it
Loving your videos as a diy car repairs. Wish I had your knowledge and talent.
Anyone can have it mate. Hard work, dedication and determination will defo get you far! Just keep going at it
@themarvelousvlog very mature comment i like,
And very true it is
Top guys chaps love watching your videos am a mobile mechanic my self based in Essex where are you guys based quality work just like my self well done chaps keep up the good work
Hertfordshire based mate! I know quite a few mobile mechs from your end including BarMotorWorx. Surely you’ve heard of him? 😁
Another top job lads, especially that timing one. I had my alternator seize (maybe... Not sure what the root cause was really) on the motorway in Germany and needed the timing belt, alternator belt, crank pulley, tensioner replaced and every timing sensor replaced. The reversible alternator was a shocking price (pun intended). Luckily, I had warranty cover (omg, was it worth it this time). 2000 Kms later, I'm getting an intermittent P0341 camshaft position sensor signal intermittent code, and obviously getting a ferry and driving another 1300kms back to that garage in Germany is not an option, so I'll have to get it looked at here (in Ireland) at my own expense. Anyway, seeing the way you guys work, I'd trust you to figure it out and do the job right.
Enjoying the vlogs - keep up the good work.
You guys are phenomenal, shame you don’t live up north!
Well done, peace out bruvvas
mashallah, you guys are awesome
Watching here in the philippines... say hi to your dad👌 he is very proud of you☝️
Salamat boss! Regards narin po sa family nyo 🫡
another great days work
Cracking channel, I have just subbed. I love watching stuff like this, especially when the job gets done well by skilled mechanics.
The DW10 Engine like what's in my focus st tdci. I was sure that all those 16 rocker arms but be shot. Can't believe it started! Those water pumps normally detach themselves from the pump shaft. Never seen em seize like that.
Having done a clutch on my own on axle stands (I'm not a mechanic).... respect! Physical work. You could have done a few reps benching the gearbox though to make it chest day as well...😁
Nah, respect to you doing your own clutch mate!
I go gym for a reason, and this is exactly why 😂 LIGHTWWEEIGGGHHHHTTTT BABYYY!
Keep them videos coming boys love em❤❤
Less than 2 hours
Fair play
Dam, he got so lucky!
VERY!
Pity you don't live near Doncaster, i would of booked you to change the clutch on my hyundai i20 by now, enjoy the channel guys keep up the good work 👍
2.5hrs travel… I might consider it for the right price haha! Wouldn’t be worth it for you though. I believe Clutch King Kevin Albert Williams cover your area
@@themarvelousvlog thanks, il try and find him 👍
Hey! just recently subbed, I had a Peugeot RCZ with the 2.0 HDI (DW10) my brother has a volvo v50 with the same DW10, his belt stripped half the teeth and actually snapped all the rockers, he was able to replaced all the rockers and time it up and it is running to this day, I think the engine is designed in such a way that the valves sit vertical to the pistons rather than at an angle , that way if the timing goes the pistons push the values straight up and break the rockers rather than bend the vales, that was like 2 years ago, engine has about 180k on the clock now, belt stripped at 135k ish, was on the original belt, cant remember if it was the water pump that caused the belt to strip teeth or not, but the dw10 are really good engines! Really enjoying your videos and the detail that you go into, cheers!
I love the DW10, hence why I got a Relay 🤷🏽♂️. It’s a shame though that this van has let me down a few times, not because the engine is shagged, but because everything else around the engine is absolutely sh*t 😂
... If I understood it right - the question is if the timing belt skips over the valves may not be damaged?
There are constructions we call it in Germany "free runner" ... at least in the past engines from Opel / Vauxhall and others with this advantage!@@themarvelousvlog
When timing jump, some survives, some don’t 🫣
@@themarvelousvlogyea! I actually have a L1H1 65 plate relay I bought a few months ago with 69k on the clock but it’s the 2.2 puma ford engine that’s in it, the electrics and sensors I’m the vans leave much to be desired but once you know a bit about them they are pretty easy to fix, my dad has a 64 plate boxer with the same 2.2 and the air con fan was missing a blade, cause the motor to pull allot more amps to try and spin the fan resulting in the loom melting into the fuse box, had to take the whole fuse box out replace it and rewire the the plugs, nightmare if a job but was a good learning experience.
Also just had the front drivers coil spring replaced in the van, nightmare of a job! 4 hours
Clutches? I think you have been watching Kevin? A joy to watch though!
I do watch him. Excellent guy to watch!
Good thing you bought water for the water pump.😅.
Shame you’re not in west Yorkshire I would have you do my clutch on my Clio
Excellent video. Did that cambelt fail prematurely or did the owner simply not bother changing it at the recommended interval.
He’s done 67k, recommended is 80/85k so yeah, prematurely failed. What I’ve also noticed, which I did not included in the video, unfortunately, is he used radweld to stop the pump from leaking; which obviously made everything worse 🫣
What type of antifreeze was that clear one?
Do you know if the 2013 vauxhall movano lwb is a chain or a belt ?
Fab as always
Appreciate it pal! Late one for us haha!
@@themarvelousvlog he was very good lucky with timing belt
Dw10 in my smax makes me feel more at ease about cambelt. Its apparently been done but you never know.
Watford ?
Hi can i ask if i should have replaced timing belt tensioner bolt , it didnt come in gates kit and replace engine mount bolts , fiat ducato 2.3 130 , thanks
another gud un
Good grafting gents. Opportunities where people don't or won't turn their own spanners.
Great job were are you guys based
I was doing gearbox changes on my 2006 toyota yaris and it easy to come out and easy to put back on, but could not get the blots in and i have to call my uncle to help me to put the blots in
What areas do you cover
Nice work. Which areas do you cover?
Where are you based please, I’ll tell you if we cover your area or not 🫡
@themarvelousvlog mid sussex. I noticed u went up to Burgess Hill. Just wondering if that is your usual area of work or not
We cover East and West Sussex and anything on the M23/A23 😁
Good job. I have a Peugeot 107, with auto box. When stationary and letting the brake off so it rolls forwards, it seems to shake intermittently, any ideas?
What year is this?
@@themarvelousvlog it's a 2011
Your Citroen Relay customer should buy himself a lottery ticket 😂😅
Clutch replaced in under 2 hours while laid on your back 💪💪proves that garages are ripping us off
Good man I'm a motorcycle mechanic try to avoid mobile as bikes can easily be recovered in the van
Some of these need replacement cam as the lobes are pressed on and they get knocked out of position your customer was so lucky maybe the belt went at low rpms or even when cranking
How do you guys work when its hammering down with rain
You’ll soon see in our future video 🫡
Hi so after the timing went, did u just put pins in correct place & it all was okays? Did u not have to check piston height & all that through spark plug holes? As i was under impression thats what u have to do if cam belt snapped… correct me if im wrong.
I guess the belt snapped & u guys just re aligned on the pins?
If timing belt snapped, it means that the timing of the engine is now completely wrong.
The whole point of the timing pins is to make sure that:
1. The bottom end of the engine is where it should be i.e. setting it so that the piston is at the right height, either at BDC or TDC (depending on manufacturer)
2. The camshafts is at the right position
The timing pins will only only go in to one single hole, which will then indicate that the engine is now in correct position, ready for the timing belt to be installed
@@themarvelousvlog thanks for that explication ! Very help full! But lets say if the crank at the bottom span more that the cam shaft? Will setting pins right solve the issue or could it then be out a few intervals?
Much appriciated
1hr 50 mins wow that is somem grafting to do that n that time
Hi, New subscriber here, enjoying watching your work!
May I ask how you price your work? Do you have an hourly rate or do you price by the job?
To be honest with you, I usually price people up per job. If I’m not familiar with the job, for example, I will charge by the hour. As much as I’d like to mention my hourly rate here, I can’t 😂.
Send me a message on insta. I’ll speak to you there
@@themarvelousvlog I don't have Insta, is there another way I can contact you? Thanks 🙂👍
Nothings up !!!!!!!
8:31 just tighten 1 bolt and then put the cap on (one hole on the cap is bigger, not like KIA or HONDA where you can't put bolt on the wheel before the cap is on)
My brother had a Renault safrane 2.0l he fitted a new cam. Then about a month later it got hard to start and was losing power. It turned out the cam shaft pulley had come loose and worn the aluminium key out and made the timing slip enough to bend a valve on start up. When he stripped the engine it turned out it had had a new cylinder head fitted by Renault who must have forgotten to tighten the pulley properly.
What's the labour charge of the clutch you done on that car. Thanks.
Any enquiries, please leave us an email. Thank you!
This is one reason I only ever own chain driven engined vehicles. What do you expect running a heavy engine under massive torsion with a rubber band. Surely people know its a money making scheme?
Where are you guys based?
Do you cover Birmingham?
Yes but call-out fee is expensive
Is that Colonial Way in the first scene?
This was in Hayes bud… I think 😅
Great job!
Maybe any mobile mechanic is not allowed in Germany?
Some things I repair by my own in my garage with jack only and therefore I know how hard it is!!!
Compared with you I am a beginner ...
Sometimes a lot of shit happens ... screw broken, screw head round ... lessons learned!
There fore it would be interesting to see any troubles in your videos and how to handle it ...would be great!
Do you have spare parts like screws, nuts ... thread cutter ...?
Thanks a lot!
I’m not really sure about the rules there in Germany but I don’t see why they would allow Mobile Mechs to be running around 🤷🏽♂️
Watch the video before this, you’ll see how I deal with difficult components. Due to RUclips rules, I’m not allowed to swear; but a lot of that is definitely involved, just cut down 😂
All mobile mechanic I know always carries the following for difficult situations:
-Heat Source (a heat gun, a torch or whatever)
-Very long breaker bar of some sort
-WD40
-WD40
-WD40
-WD40
-Big Hammer
-Grinder
-WD40
-Maybe acetylene torch if you’re brave to carry it around 😂
Thanks a lot ... great answer!!!@@themarvelousvlog
great work
Is John also a mechanic? Or learning?
John is currently learning- and to be honest, he’s only been at it for a short time and he’s progressing very very well. Proud of the guy 🫡
Where are you based
Oye oyee me in the video 😂😂😂
