    hello Pinoy-Style-DIYer!! i just wanted to say i LOVE your videos. im currently doing an obd1 to obd1 (4th gen Prelude) engine swap from an H23A1 (1994 Prelude Si 4WS) to the JDM H22A Black Top (which doesnt have the CKP as in your video, since you cut it off), and the wiring diagram you provided is SO crucial for anyone with OBD2 (5th gen) Preludes. Again, I really do not mean to offend in any manner, but I dont know what it is about a rather larger man doing an engine swap (alone).. and your very "simple" directions with the monotone voice (or maybe i should say calm voice?)... but it really helps calms my nerves and lessens my anxiety when tackling the same jobs. its very soothing watching these videos.
    you are really appreciated and i really hope your videos blow up!!!! you deserve every bit of it. thank you for all the videos and taking the time to record, edit, and post them. they are really helpful not just in information, but relaxing peoples conception that it takes a "professional" to do the job. I LOVE YOU, MAN!!! lol 👍

    I saw another video where it shows a 25 amp fuse being used on the external obd2 harness plug. Also. I checked rywire for their 50$ harness like the one you made in this video and they say on the description that usdm ecu will throw a cam sensor code and that they recommend an obd1 ecu . On my state they have emissions testing I bought a 01 prelude with a H22A but overheated I bought a new H22A and I’m thinking of going the route you took . What do you recommend. Love your videos . Thanks!

      I know several guys in Cali who have emissions. They use obd1 ecu and did the wiring I have here.. they said it all passed emissions testing.. the method i used here shouldn't throw any cam sensor issues as it is getting signals from the dizzy.. unless you swap the obd2 components to the obd1 to have the plug for it and use stock harness and stock obd2 ecu..

    hey brother, I have an h22a4 and I need to do this conversion. I actually got the harness from rywire that does this but I need to know what obd1 distributor you used. I can't afford to buy wrong parts at this moment. and I need the lude running soon to be able to work. also since I'm going to do this conversion, would my stock ecu run this conversion fine, and I'd be able to drive?

    • @PinoyStyleDIY
      @PinoyStyleDIY  2 года назад +2

      The one used in this build was from an OBD1 h22..
      I believe you can use a 92-95 civic ex/si dizzy, as I used the distributor cap from a 92-95 civic ex/si.. the best way to do is, remove your h22a4 distributor, and go to your local part store: ask for a 92-95 civic ex/si distributor and compare the over all length and bolt holes (bolt ears holes)
      But if you are retaining the h22a4, the bolt holes might be different due to the fact that it is an OBD2 compliance where you can't manually adjust timing by rotating the entire distributor by certain degrees to retard or advance..
      You can use your h22a4 distributor housing and all, but you have to convert it to obd1.. meaning some of your distributor wiring from obd2 should be depin and match the harness for odb1 conversion..
      Yes, your stock ecu will run fine as long as it gets the correct signals from the distributor..

      I've seen this done before. It is really not that hard if you also have the ecu and secondary wire loom for the dash.. mostly, this applies to right-hand drive conversion as the wire loom goes into the firewall on the opposite side..

    I just picked up a h22a swapped prelude and am having a weird issue. The car was running fine but now it won’t rev above 3k rpm. I assume it has to be a issue with the distributer/crank position sensor wiring . Any tips on things to check ? Trying to watch your vids to checkout the possibilities

    • @PinoyStyleDIY
      @PinoyStyleDIY  3 года назад

      Not revving past 3k rpm, this can be caused by different things.. it'll be really hard to tell without physically diagnosing the car.. if your car starts fine, then Crank position wiring shouldn't be the issue. It could be a timing advancement or retarded, oxygen sensor and dirty throttle, low fuel pressure, or clog EGR valve.. try ro disconnect your EGR wiring connector, see if that changes anything..

      Check main grounds, battery to chassis, and trans to battery or chassis..
      Do you have another distributor to use for testing? Check the firing order, and check the distributor key is fully seated to the camshaft.. another thing to check is the distributor cap and rotor.. see if there's any burn marks or shredded contacts..

    • @PinoyStyleDIY

      @央视记者王冰冰 it'll be inside the distributor. If you have an OBD1 distributor, TDC, CKP, and CYP are inside the distributor itself [crank position sensor]. The OBD2 distributors that came with internal or external coil only the CYP sensor inside the distributor as the TDC and CKP are behind the crankshaft area. The OBD1 distributor has all three sensors in it, TDC, CKP & CYP. Get an OBD1 distributor with internal coils..

    • @PinoyStyleDIY
      @PinoyStyleDIY  2 года назад

      If you followed the wiring harness method and you still get cel 4, the next thing is check your timing.. set cyl 1 on TDC and make sure your crank and cams are in time.. it's possible that it jumped a tooth or two.. if timing is good, check the Crank sensor itself and possible compression test..

      I love the sound of doritos! But not on our inline fours.. any other codes aside from cel4? If you're positive that the wiring is good, just double check it.. and if it's good, check for loose ground and the integrity of the ecu.. as for the doritos sounds, it could be one or two cylinder that aren't firing correctly.. check plugs, wire and definitely your dizzy..

      What engine are you using? H22a4 (usdm) or H22 (jdm)
      H22a4: preferred stock ecu or you can use chipped obd1 ecu
      H22: jdm variant, use obd1 ecu and get a base map for the engine or use H22a4 ecu if planning to move all h22a4 compliance parts to the jdm engine so the engine can still function without throwing random ecm codes
