    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
    Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
    I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
    On RUclips and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
    Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
    I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

    Hi Danny, the explanation of opening the left knee to the target as the initiation of the downswing did it for me. Isn't it interesting how one can listen to 10 different instructors explain the same aspect of the swing and one of them rings louder and clearer? I went to the range after watching this and it was like magic! I was striking the ball consistently more solid with what felt like little to no effort. I could "feel" and hear the impact that a square club face brings when cracking the ball. I was definitely trying to force the shallowing of the club and as a result of opening the lead knee it does in fact happen naturally and without thought. Thank you so much! I'm playing a round tomorrow and look forward to applying what you've taught me in this video for an entire round. I'll let you know how it goes. All the best! Stay safe and be well.

    Micheal Jordan was a great player but a bad coach and owner. You may not be a tour player but you are a superstar teacher of the swing. It’s how you teach Danny. You keep it simple and down to earth for the common everyday golfer. Haney, Ledbetter, and Harmon are not the benchmark. You are.

    Just came back from the range and made some of the best swings ever. This video helped me to gain better insight of a good golf swing. I first saved this video several weeks ago along with other videos from other instructors but after maybe 3-4 range sessions and countless practice swings in my backyard all of a sudden I got the feeling and timing right and then everything clicked into place. This instructional video more than any others has transformed my swing from steep out to in to shallow and in to out. I still have some things I need to work on but I think I have a great foundation now. THANK YOU!

    I honestly think this is the best golf instruction drill/ move you can teach someone learning the game. Honestly, it's so easy to try and it covers so much ground. Ultimately if you get this right, then that's about 80-90% of your swing right there.

    Used to play a lot of amateur tournaments. Stopped golf sr 60 and started again at 73, out of shape, older,aches and pains and no desire to practice so you know where the game went and how depressing it became. Your tip on starting the downswing with a slight turn of the front knee has made a gigantic difference - will never be a 3 hndcp again but am back to enjoying. I loved your bunker tips, chipping, and this shallowing out. You teach in a layman’s language - keep it up and I look forward to your Dad making all of us seniors proud by beating you one day - cheers!

    At first, I thought, “man, this is super repetitive!” Being told the difference between dropping & rotate, vs. a steep club down swing. But if you stick with this, 1) These are two simple and excellent drills to improve our downswing to drop and rotate; and 2) His repetition as he demonstrates these drills, over and over, is exactly what we need to do! I tried doing each 50 times; and swinging two clubs was a workout, and it helped me drop my club into a good position to start my downswing. Also, the “relaxed wrists tip is key, for me. Thanks bro!

    Oh my... I have struggled with my swing on and off for decades (used to play low single hcp) without knowing this. I have been looking for my old swing for ages and this drill unlocked the feeling of openness in the downswing that I have been missing for all this time.
    I have struggled so often with coming down to steep and blocking the ball out to the right, especially with the longer clubs and driver, but after this drill I can consistently hit perfect push draws. You made golf fun again, I can't thank you enough.

    I like Danny's explanation of this. If you make a proper backswing you don't have to worry about drills or swing thoughts... your swing will shallow naturally because it HAS to. Maintain the triangle (arms and chest) and turn your torso (not just arms and shoulders) to initiate backswing. Keep the club head OUTSIDE your hands throughout your backswing. This will ensure you are taking the club on a path straight back or slightly outside (think Jim Furyk or Lee Trevino as extreme examples)... taking an inside path is the cause for most amateur mistakes. If you execute the backswing properly, your club/swing will shallow on its own because your body realizes it HAS to in order to get back to proper impact position. My main/only swing thought is on making a proper backswing... my body knows how to do the rest.

    First off, let me state the fact that Danny Maude is hands down the most helpful online instructor, if not THEE most helpful, so major props to you Danny, but folks, It's also good to know that loose, supple wrists (what I refer to as, "cooked spaghetti,") will improve your contact and distance even if you fail to 'shallow' out your club. The average golfer thinks their wrists are already as loose as 'cooked spaghetti,' but if you consciously ALLOW your wrists to RELAX and react to your swing movement, you'll quickly find that they're not.

    Wonderfully clear, accurate, and useful instruction on a difficult but crucial concept, Danny. Your excellent video confirms what I have just recently been discovering, that if you start the downswing with the lower body and a relaxed grip the club basically shallows on its own. And when the club shallows it drops into the correct swing path and your ball striking improves enormously. I still haven't entirely eliminated my over-the-top/early extension problem, but I know now I just need to keep practicing the correct downswing sequence and proper grip until my new swing becomes ingrained and entirely replaces my over-the-top swing. Thank you for this superb demonstration!

    This is a great video explaining how to start the downswing and shallowing the club. I wish I would have had this type of instruction when I was younger. However I have changed my swing in the last 3 months by incorporating this movement into my swing. It is hard to do and takes time to teach your body this new motion after years of starting the downswing the wrong way.

    I am trying to completely rebuild my golf swing from an almost completely upper body and old school weight shift to my golf swing to the ground up rotational that is being taught today and the various approaches as you wonderfully describe in your videos...I am just having a problem understanding the various approaches you describe and how to use them in my practice to rebuild my golf swing...again thanks..your a great Teacher...

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  5 лет назад

      Rebuild by tossing a ball low to the ground like skimming along a lake. Learn to feel how your body moves. put yourself on camera you will learn that your body already moves like a golf swing should look. Now you just need to add a golf club to it

    Thanks Danny!! I'm glad I found this drill. I'm a subscriber so I get the notifications of new videos but this one is obviously a little older. I've been working on this drill for a little over a week now. OF COURSE, the first time I tried it on the course I shot an amazing (for me) 79. Whoopee. Naturally, I fell apart the next round like cheap patio furniture. The drill is helping with an insidious feature of my downswing where I tip my body forward and stand the club up starting the downswing. Heavy sigh. That's how I found your drill by the way, searching for shallowing the club. I've been comparing slow motion videos of my swing with yours. I like yours better. I don't suppose you'd be interested in a trade????!!!!! Temporarily!! I promise. Thanks for all the great videos!!!

    Great video. Looks so simple Danny and I understand what you are doing. Simple for me to do using the weight of two clubs, but using just one club, much more difficult. Guess I need to soften the wrists even more... I also see how you get that right elbow tucked in close to the right hip. That is also a piece in this equation I guess.

    This might be the reason why I can’t stop early extending. My backswing is lovely not too flat at the top with a neutral wrist in the lead hand but every time I try to focus on weight shifting or moving my left hip back or try to pull my arms down to get it in the slot, all these swing thoughts never happen because I’m coming down to steep in my downswing and when I get in between P2 and P1 my arms have gotten away from me and I’m basically “humping” the golf ball at impact and the crazy thing is that not even my golf coach has mentioned this to me yet it’s clearly visible when watching back on the clips of my own swing. I will definitely bring this up to my coach in my next lesson with him

    Great video Danny
    I'm a 28 handicapper who struggles with every aspect. Nothing is natural to me about the golf swing
    Since watching your video and practicing your drill. This has been my main mistake Iv been doing for 30 years . Not one coach had ever worked on this with me or picked up that I wasn't doing it
    When would you in your coaching with a student work on this.
    I believe this must be a fundamental part in every golfers swing
    Great content

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  6 лет назад +1

      Jonathan Lambert, thanks for the feedback Jonathan. I work on it within the first few lessons as it can be linked to throwing a ball or skimming a stone. It should be natural and thus much of the movements needed for an effortless swing can be generated more easily by starting with this
