The west thinks religious people can't do science because we say God made it and we're done. So there can be no progress. They don't know about the verse of Quran that says, "Look into the horizon and within yourselves and you'll see our sign". The verse not only inspires us to look into nature but commands it without any limit. When an atheist learns a new scientific discovery, they can be perplexed and some delude themselves thinking they can use it do prove God' does not exist while the same thing increases the faith of a believer and inspires to learn more.
It's all in the heart.
Sad to learn YT has restricted your channel. I will share your channel wide and far. Finally, let's not forget many early Muslim scientists were Persian. As you said, Arabs learned from Persians and worked with all those other Muslim converts. Avicenna/Ibn Sina and many others were indeed from Persia. Arabs are lucky though and they truly benefitted from Islam after embracing the religion and because they were humble at least at that time :)
The whole division of shia/sunni comes from Persians' ego. Persia was more advanced than Arabia so they needed to find a way to distinguish themselves from the former Bedouins. Western historians often like to say "Arab civilization" even though it was actually an Muslim civilization and so many were non Arabs. This is to increase Arab nationalism and create division among Muslims.

Aforetime, as a guidance to mankind, and it is He who has bestowed the standard by which to discern the true from the false. Surely they who disbelieve in the communications of Allah they shall have a severe chastisement; and Allah is Mighty, the Lord of retribution.

It was appearently about 400.000 books, which were lost. That is a huge number, considering, that printing hasn't spread much outside China and everything therefore was hand-copied.
We don't even know what was lost. That is maybe the greatest tragedy of it all.

I remember hearing about this from my arabic teachers I never thought much of it because I figured if these people were so important why weren't they mentioned in the media or in the schools history books (I lived in an Arab country but I received a western education). In my opinion while school has taught me important skills ( in the most inefficient way possible), there was still subtle indoctrination sprinkled in. Muslims must also take some responsibility. All empires fall from greatness often due to decay from within. Nevertheless to deliberately withhold the truth about history for political reasons is terrible and causes so much unnecessary conflict and division.

That is the truth: "There did exist a fairly brief "Golden Age" under certain very tolerant caliphs but unfortunately came to end forcefully in the 12th century by orthodox Islamic authorities and scholars (Ash'arites) who insisted that the sort of research going on was a threat to faith and un-Islamic. The very influential Muslim scholar Al-Ghazali (d1111) discouraged the deep study of science (it distracted from faith) and encouraged the disbelief in physical causality (Allah causes all motion & change) making Physics & modern science, as it developed in the West, impossible for the Muslim world. See R. Reilly's book _The Closing Of The Muslim Mind. _
A number of important scholars of period got into serious trouble with the Islamic authorities at the time for their rational thinking, like Ibn Rushd (Averroes). It was a culture of rationalism championed by the Hellenized Muslims (Mu'tazilites) and should not be called "Islamic". Indeed Islam's Qur'an is extremely unscientific with its earth centered universe, seven heavens, etc. So the Mu'tazilites were eliminated as a threat to Islamic faith. Scientific progress had to wait for the infidel astronomers and other scientists of Christian Europe.
In his excellent book “Islam And Science” Pakistan’s top physicist Prof Perez Hoodbhoy has a section called “ Five Great Heretics”, all famous scholars who suffered under Islamic orthodoxy. The great medical scholar & physician, al-Razi was totally opposed to Islamic beliefs and was an especially tragic figure whose unorthodoxy outraged an emir who ordered that his head be beaten with his book until either the book or his head broke. He became blind in both eyes as a result, and when a friend suggested he undergo surgery for it al-Razi replied that “I have seen enough of this world, and I do not cherish the idea of an operation in hope of seeing more of it.” He died shortly thereafter, such is the brutal cruelty of the Muslim true believer. Most of al-Razi’s anti-Islam & anti-religion writings were, of course, destroyed. What remains a lot of are the critical writings against him.
The real pioneer of modern algebra and of algorithms was Diophantus with his famous 13 books called Arithmetica that (600 years before al- Khwārizmī) introduced symbolic manipulations. Al-Khwarizmi used only words in sentences to contribute fairly minor results about what amounts to certain 1st and 2ond order equations. “Al-Khwarizmi’s scientific achievements were at best mediocre, but they were uncommonly influential,” says Toomer in the Dictionary of Scientific Biography.
The concept of algorithm (sequential steps in a calculation) was hardly the invention of al-Khwārizmī, the idea goes back to practically all ancient civilizations that did Math. The word "algorithm" just come from the Latin title of a book al -Khwarizmi wrote in Arabic about Hindu-Arabic numerals; the Latin translation of the book title was Algoritmi de numero Indorum (in English Al-Khwarizmi on the Hindu Art of Reckoning). Al-Khwarizmi is hardly responsible for the laptop computer."

The Muslims changed the Iberian Peninsula to 'Al Andalus' which they derived from 'Vandals', a Germanic tribe that conquered and ruled Iberia and North Africa between 429 to 534 AD.
According to Greek historian, author and academician Dr. Stef Keris, it was not a conquest or invasion by the Muslims. From 534 to 711 CE, Iberian Peninsular was invaded and ruled by another Germanic tribe known as Visigoth or Goth. The Visigoths were oppressive towards the indigenous Iberians, especially the Jews.
When Visigoth King - Don Rodrigo or Ruderic (710-712) was in power, Julian, his opponent sought help from Muslim Caliph of Umayyad Dynasty that ruled from Arabian Peninsular all the way to Morocco to depose Ruderic. Julian supplied the Muslims with ships and military intelligence.
In July 711, Commander Tariq Ibn Ziyad (670-719) was tasked to lead 7000 men to Andalusia to assist Julian. They landed in a small rocky strip which was named Jabal Al Tariq (Mount of Tariq which was later corrupted into Gibraltar), after the name of the commander. Together with indigenous Andalusian Christians and Sephardis, they fought the Visigoths and their supporters until they were pushed up north. The Visigoths and their supporters were left alone to settle along the coastal area in the north of the peninsula (Asturia and Cantabria) in 718.
Tariq Ibn Ziyad and his 7000 army men were not Arabs. They were Amazighs - a North African tribe who, by 705 CE fully converted to Islam from Christianity, Judaism and Paganism. They were not forced to convert either as many so-called 'scholars' and 'historians' like to argue. Neither were they Berbers, nor Moors. Berbers (barbaros in Greek) was meant as barbarians. Moors came from Greek word 'mavros' which derogatorily meant black. The same thing with the term 'negro'. It was the Spanish that labelled the slaves of African origins - 'negros' (blacks) when they arrived in the Americas in mid 16th century.
Ibn Ziyad was not planning to stay in Andalusia after the mission was accomplished. But seeing that they were welcomed by indigenous Iberians - Catholics & Jews as their saviours, they stayed on. So it began - the Moors' rule of Europe for nearly 800 years. What historian Bettany Hughes misses to mention in her BBC documentary 'When the Moors Ruled in Europe' ( ruclips.net/video/oafKyRDagsY/видео.html&ab_channel=ManzurulAlam ) is that Al Andalus was 'one of the most harmonious communities in Europe' of all time, as argued by French scholar Jacques Augustine Berque (1910 - 1995). Though it was not a Shangri La, it was a period when people of Abrahamic faiths - Judaism, Christianity and Islam lived the most prosperous and peaceful lives ever in European history. Islamic Spain was also the Golden Age for the Jews. Not many of us know this because most 'historians' seemed to "suffer from historical amnesia", Spanish poet and writer Juan Goytisolo (1931 - 2017) lamented.
The narrative that the arrival of Muslims in the Iberian Peninsular as a 'violent and terrible attack on Christian Europe' by most Spanish so-called historians is not true at all. It was the opposite. The political, economical and social structure was collapsing under the Visigoth period. The Amazigh of North Africa who happened to be Muslims came and freed the people from the Visigoths, uplifted them politically, economically and socially, as told by archaeologist Lauro Elmo Enciso of Alcala University, Madrid. The Al Andalus period was the beginning of Europe's Golden Age.
Apart from translating the works of Greek masters (Archimedes, Pythagoras and the philosopher Ptolemy) into Arabic, the Muslims in Al Andalus also extended, expanded and perfected their works. The Al Andalusians also established robust institutions of learning, including well-stocked libraries. It was during this period astronomy, architecture, science, medicine and mathematics were progressing rapidly.
Toledo was the birthplace of the Renaissance, not Florence.
