    Thanks for the update and background.
    I have the CD and a dvd somewhere. This sounds like an interesting project and it is a period that does not get the profile that it deserves. There are various reasons for that, but ultimately it is a period that John and Yoko went through and it should be celebrated. Yes, it was of its time and certain elements are, of their time, but ultimately we are all able to put them in their context. John and Yoko were complex characters and not everything that they did was perfect. But it was all part of their journey and as such we should be able to experience that unhindered.
    Hopefully the documentary will add the necessary context and enable us all to enjoy both the concert and the Sometime In New York City album without worrying about offending words or politics of the time. Those who do not wish to participate can ignore it, that is fine too.
    Anyway, look forward to more updates, news, reviews and discussion.
    Keep up the good work.

    Hello Mr. Beatley Tone
    I always knew that the tickets for the one to one concert were not selling and that John and Yoko had to buy up a lot of the tickets
    However, what I did not know until now that I am listening to your video is that John had asked Paul if he wanted to perform at the concert
    I think this is insane and I wonder why the tickets were not selling if this was John Lennon that was going to perform
    However, the good thing is that John and Yoko were able to buy the tickets and give them to the people, and this became historic performance from John
    I am very excited about this documentary and I do hope that we also get the remixed CD of the complete performances
    Thank you for another awesome video Mr. Beatley Tone
    Blessings to you and I will catch you on the next one

    Thanks for this video Tone. I had no idea that John had reached out to Paul to appear at the Gig, now had it not been for Klein's involvement what a show that would've been, like wise with Bangladesh the year before, when Paul turned down George, obviously for the same reasons. I have read that John also invited Joan Baez to appear, but sadly she was in Vietnam at the time with an aid agency making a documentary on the war. I am so looking forward to this project, both the documentary and the remixed album. I watched my DVD of the gig on Sunday evening and I've listened to my copy of the '86 album, and it does sound a bit murky, but is this because we have become so accustomed to what we can get with modern remix and remastering technology today in 2024? However it's going to be something to look forward to and to enjoy, just hoping we get a re release of the original Gigs, hopefully on Blu-ray. I think Tone we can say with all confidence that we are being truly spoilt with releases from our beloved Beatles this year...

    Did they both get filmed if so maybe they could put out a DVD much like they did recently with the Toronto Pop Festival.A collective one, might be nice.Dominated by the best of the two performances by John and Yoko?
    Although that may depend who owns the rights to the footage?
    And so maybe a best of the two J & Y’s performance’s on audio?

    This was a good presentation of the history of these 2 shows. I hope that they will release as much of the complete footage of the show as possible. Do you know if both shows were completely filmed, or were only parts of the 2nd show filmed? If Sean Lennon has remixed the audio tapes, that probably does mean that an audio release is coming up eventually. I hope that there will also be a DVD/Blu Ray of a more complete performance. Hi Tone excuse the mistakes as I’m trying to type this on my iPad. I am going back on my thinking that they should do a combo deluxe box set with One To One and STINYC. I think they have ample material to make OneTo One it’s own deluxe box. I have the Mister Claudel boot which is a 5CD and 1 DVD disc. The set includes both concerts in their entirety and rehearsals plus the DVD of the concert. Admittedly the quality is pretty poor but they have the tech now to clean this up. Along with the new documentary they are making this would make a fantastic deluxe box set.
    As far as STINYC I think they could still do a fantastic deluxe box set on its own. Again I have a Mister Claudel boot of the sessions on a 3 CD set, so I’m sure with a remix album , demos and session outtakes they have plenty to make a fantastic deluxe box set. I guess the Lennon camp still need the will and belief they would get a ROI. However I think I read on Super Deluxe Edition website some time back that the work had been completed but for some reason the release got shelved.

    • @beatleytonesbeatleschannel
      @beatleytonesbeatleschannel  Месяц назад +1

      Hi Bob, blimey 5 CDs !!! Im guessing there must be a lot of rehearsal material included. As we've always said , the inclusion of the one to one in an ultimate mix set would help sell STINYC but it doesn't fit the format of previous Ultimate Mixes so i wouldn't be surprised if these became separate projects - that is a better fit. Im still reasonably confident that we might get STINYC as an ultimate mix but when is the big question.

    Tone,
    VHD Disc was a cheaper competitor to LD. I stand to be corrected, but it was never launched in the UK and only really a thing in Japan, hence perhaps why you have not heard of it. It was what Betamax was to VHS and HD DVD was to Blu Ray, if you will.

    These shows have been teased (including by people like Jack Douglas) for almost as long as Michael Lindsay Hogg has been saying Let it Be was done and ready to go any day now….so an upgraded version of these shows on Blu-ray is long overdue. However, the Mike Douglas documentary is supposedly due this year as well, would they really release two John centric documentaries in one year, on top of the soon to be released Mind Games set? I mean I wouldn’t mind, but I would think it would make more sense to wait either to very late this year or sometime early next year, release both documentaries which hopefully can lead to blu ray releases of the John & Yoko hosted Mike Douglas shows, the complete One to One shows and documentary and maybe they can sneak in the ultimate Sometime in NYC set too and rectify that non release and have all of John’s 1972/early period in NY covered fully. Then they can continue with the Ultimate sets later in the year or if they take a year long brea till the next set, it wouldn’t be so bad since we will have so much to tide us over in the meantime

    • @beatleytonesbeatleschannel
      @beatleytonesbeatleschannel  Месяц назад

      You maybe right Joe, but as far as i know the 2 docs are not Apple products so i guess its feasible that 2 independent companies can release stuff without worrying about what else is coming out. Having said that, as the One to `One doc hasn't been given a release date yet, maybe 2025 is more realistic . I agree that it's important that we do get an Ultimate Mixes for STINYC - probably more important that either of these documentaries.

    Hi Tony. New RUclips profile now that I have also retired! We are a similar age and became Beatles fans at roughly the same time, mid-1970s. I finally bought the original CD release a few years ago to complete my collection. The concert always intrigued me because of the decades it took for it to receive an official release. Does anyone know the source (late 70s books I would guess) which raved about this concert and hoped it would be released. I long thought it was Carr and Tyler's Illustrated Record (just behind your right shoulder), but having re-read it, there is only a brief mention. Any idea anyone?

The most positive write up I know for the One to One concerts was in the excellent The Beatles Forever by Nicholas Schaffner (one of the best ever Beatles books imho) but I didn't get a copy of that text until around 1990 and after the official release from 1986. It's probably in some long lost magazine article I read over 40 years ago and I am resigned to never tracking it down. There were at least 3 songs performed by that dreadful fluffy, so-called rock band, Sha Na Na including the meaningless Yakity Yak which should have been banned for idiocy .’Little’ Stevie Wonder also did 3 songs which were probably his worst. Roberta Flack didn’t play any of her memorable hits and after listening to the full concert, it’s my view that only Lennon & Ono came with the quality.
