i was 19 years old at the time and living in Brooklyn and a huge Beatles fan and i attended both the afternoon & evening shows and really both shows were exciting i really dont remember one show as better than the other probably because everyone was just in awe to see John perform live so it really didnt matter to us , it was just great being there and witnessing it and of course everyone spreading rumors of what other beatle would be showing up, it was pure joy & excitement
Wow that must have been amazing to have been at one of the shows let alone both. Just to have seen John play live must have been awesome . great story , thanks for sharing Ralph
Thanks for bringing this news to us, Tone. I'm actually quite excited to see what all this will entail once it's released. I have very fond memories of watching the concert on VHS with my late father (a huge Beatles and Lennon fan) when it was released in '86. As excited as I get for these types of releases, part of me does feel sad that my Dad isn't around to enjoy them, too. All that aside, this video was definitely a high point of the day & looking forward to what's next!
I remember seeing the 40 min edit of the show on ABC tv in 1972 when I was in grade school. I hope they get both complete concerts released at some point.

Yes that would be fantatsic but as always we'll have to wait and see what emerges. This is very exciting and unexpected news Steve. Should be fascinating . Can't wait to see it

Thanks for bringing the news so quickly to your channel Tone, I am as excited as you are, you can't hide that one 😂😂😂😂 you can see it 😂😂😂😂
Really enjoyed this one Tone. I'm now excited for this release. I hope we do get an improved audio release, the 80s vinyl always seemed a little flat to me. I am hoping Sean gives it his magic touch and brings it to life. Thanks again mate, keep the videos coming. A Macca 12" single review would be fun.
Thanks very much Rich glad you enjoyed the video. I agree, I'm glad Sean has remixed the soundtrack - it's really needed doing so I hope it comes out. as a record of CD or both. Did you see the link I posted on the Macca Ranking thread on your comment. Link to my 12" single video from a year or so ago ?
What a great news ! As you say, a whole concert of John Lennon is something unusual, but honestly, I don't often listen to my cd of this concert. But the other one with a new mix would be so interesting !
Hiya Tone, great news, and an informative video as always, this is one thing I will be looking forward to, thanks for sharing, take care my friend, cheers, Dave 😊
Hi Tony,:). Well, this sure is Interesting that they are deciding to come out with this now ... WOW. I do have both shows but you are talking about more on the auto and video part mmm nice!!! Yes, the day show was a lot better, and I do look forward to it all good new yes good new indeed :). Have a great day mate cheer!!!!!
I think I remember this being mentioned when the Sometime In NYC box set was floated. Would be great if this was apart of its own box set, a doc, the concert in full and remixed audio discs.
As always we'll have to wait and see what comes out on the back of this but there is potential for something great as far as audio/video content goes. But very exciting and unexpected news which it seems we all welcome
Great news Tone ! I have nothing from this concert so will be thrilled to get whatever package they will put together. Hope they throw in that great poster as well. Keep the good news coming, this looks like our year finally. Take care ✌💗
It does Sharon . Very exciting and unexpected news and I cant wait to see it . As always we'll have to wait and see what else comes out on the back of it but there his huge potential for something great
You put that poster up in the background and now this happens. Coincidence? Anytime we get new footage and/or audio is always a good thing. Hopefully we’ll get the full concerts on a blu ray with extras. And a cd/vinyl release. If Sean remixed it it would seem like a no brainer. Maybe this will mean a STINYC box at some point since a lot of the concert comes from that period and this documentary shows the Lennon camp is not shying away from it. Fingers crossed.
Weird eh? It woz the poster what done it ! That was exactly what I was thinking Michael. There is hope for STINYC on the back of this and if the soundtrack has been remixed theres seems no reason why we shouldn't get an audio release of the concert to accompany the film.
Yes, another release to look forward to...i'm sure there will be a cd and vinyl release as well as a DVD!! The George estate really wants to get their finger out with some archive releases! Cheers Tone!
Hello Mr. Beatley Tone I am very, very excited about this news Me being born in the late 80s I do have the Live in New York City CD However, I’ve never heard the morning performance and I am very excited that I’m finally going to be able to hear it I am also excited about all the footage from the concert because even though I can’t see, I know that my father or somebody in my family will describe it to me and as a fan of John Lennon, that makes me very, very excited I am very thankful to Yoko and Sean because we are not only getting the Mind Games box set, but we are also getting this documentary about the one-to-one concert Thank you Mr. Beatley Tone for sharing this exciting news Blessings to you and I will catch you on the next video
You're welcome Angie. Yes we should be very grateful to Yoko and Sean for all they have given us fans over the years and Im glad you're excited about this documentary - me too. Blessing to you too my friend.
There was never a "morning" performance - only the afternoon and the evening ones. And what had been released in 1986 on CD and LP was the afternoon show mostly. They say the evening performance was way better, and some tracks from it were included in "The Lennon Anthology" 1998 4CD Box, proving that point.
@@Zholobov1 OK I always thought they had been a morning performance Thank you very much for clarifying that there wasn’t. I really appreciate it. There is no doubt that as Beatles/Lennon fans, we are always learning new things
One to really look forward to ...I do hope they give us an ultimate mixes of Sometime.... this is the best opportunity they will have and it's such big part of the story.
I am very happy to see sean is doing this. Hopefully, we get the entire 2 concerts on vinyl/cd. The album from the 80's sounds awful, so glad to hear it's getting a remix.
Yes this will be its second remix but Sean clearly wasnt happy with the mix Jack Douglas did in 2014 and did it himself. Something else to look forward to
I’m looking forward to it as both John & Yoko had a lot of sensible and philosophical things to say at that time. I wonder if this is the VDO that (if I recall correctly) Yoko used to mention 2-3 years ago that she wanted to finish and release but that it had been delayed due to technicalities. I’d assumed that it was one one of the concert but she was probably referring to this.
Yes I think this is what she was referring to. This has been on the back-burner for a while as the initial remix was done by Jack Douglas in 2014. Because this has been remixed by Sean , we can only assume that she or he were not happy with the remix that Douglas did. maybe these are the technical difficulties that were mentioned
Hi Tone this is fantastic news!!! Hopefully this will follow with a release of a deluxe box set of the concert or a combined deluxe box set with STINYC. We can only hope😊
Hi Bob, the fact that they are putting this out is some sort of indication that Camp Lennon is not shying away from the STINTC material so there is hope. Fingers crossed.
Looking forward to this, I would imagine (please excuse the unintentional pun there!) that the release date for this would either be Aug 30th the 52nd anniversary of this gig or Oct 9th, what would've been John's 84th birthday. I'm hoping to be in NYC on oct 9th. Always wanted to visit NYC, been on my bucket list for decades and I now have the chance. If they do release it on John's Birthday I could get to see it there. Awesome as they say. I would hope we would see some kind of physical release of the Doc on Blu-ray, and possibly the original Gig as well. A two/three disc box set perhaps, and hopefully a remixed release of Live In New York City on vinyl and CD. I do have a Japanese DVD of the original gig and the picture quality is excellent, had that for about 15 years that I picked up at a Beatles record fair down in Devon of all places. So pleased that we're getting all of this stuff from the Fabs. Plenty to enjoy Tone. Thanks for this great news mate....
You're welcome Terry. Your date guesses are sound and either of those dates would be perfect. Wow that would be amazing to be in NYC when this comes out so I hope that dream comes true for you. I went in 2000 and 2010 for the 20th and 30th anniversaries and it is an amazing city - you will have the best time. Sounds like the remix of the concerts has been done by Sean so there is potential for us to get an audio tie -in with this documentary . This year is turning into a great year for us fans
Wow fantastic news. John and Yoko were so busy during this period but the full length concerts are like gold dust and I never thought the time would come when they would be released. So I'm thrilled that it is finally going to be released in a cleaned up high definition version as opposed to some grainy bootleg copy. Can you imagine seeing as well as this footage we've never seen before, including rehearsals and John working with the Plastic Ono Band. I know its greedy but I wonder how much more archive material exists within Yoko's vault of goodies and what else we might be treated to in the years to come. Whatever else this may be I just hope we dont have to wait too long.
Yes very exciting and unexpected news that we all welcome ., I cant wait to see this and now that the the soundtrack has been remixed by Sean, there is the potential to get something really great as an audio release too. John and Yoko recorded everything there must be tons of stuff we havent seen/heard - how much of it we will get to see is another matter but exciting times to be a fan nonetheless
Good news. And we have not even got Mind Games in ours hands yet. It would be good if this was part of a wider examination of this period! It deserves to be presented in the same manner as the other periods. A book in the same format as that for Imagine and Plastic Ono Band would be very welcome, and of course an expanded Some Time In New York City! Thanks for the news.
This will be a vast improvement over the 1980s Betamax video tape copy I have of the One-to=One concert. John had a great heart and all his live concert performances after the Beatles were benefits to help various causes. I can't wait for this release!
Yes very exciting and unexpected news. Should be fascinating . Can't wait to see it but as always we'll have to wait and see what comes out audio wise on the back of it but the potential is there for something great
I hope it will be supported by a new audio releases including the rehearsals. Ohhh sisters oh sisters and Born in a prison are maybe the only ones I really like from our Yoko.
I am very excited that there will be a documentary in regards to the one to one concert I didn’t know that there was a documentary regarding that. I have the live in New York City album which is a good album but I think it does need a remix version of it I think we should have two completed concerts outside that would be really nice it would be fantastic so that everything can be made clear. and John Lauren does a really good job in that whole album live in New York City I think it’s a really good album especially with songs like mother instant Karma come together the Beatles classic hound dog along with other songs. I am definitely looking forward to it.
It has been quite some time ago but I remember seeing an online interview with producer Jack Douglas where he states that he had been involved in a reissue of the album/film audio but this sounds like Sean is at the controls, great unexpected news Tone.
Yeah very exciting and unexpected news . Sounds like Sean and /or Yoko were not happy with the remix that jack Douglas did back in 2014. Although I suppose it could be that tech has moved on so much that Sean just took the available opportunity to improve it
First of all, thanks for the breaking news Tone! I'm looking forward to the documentary (any new Beatles documentary or footage is fantastic to see either way) but I'm not overly excited about it. I always thought the One to One concert film looked pretty dated. They need to fully remaster the film. And as you mentioned, the music wasn't really tight or up to par. Concert for Bangladesh was a much tighter show. But hey, you know us Beatles fans...we're always gonna be critical 😉
Yes always but the film has been cleaned up and the soundtrack has been remixed by Sean so Im sure both these things will breath some new life into it. The performances are not the best but this is such a historical gig - being Johns only full solo show that it is important that we get the best version we can
Wonder if they will interview Geraldo Rivera for the doc.. (Unfortnately the captions on this aren't working [I'm hearing impaired] so forgive me if this was mentioned)..
I guess he will be in it even if its archived footage. I have my captions set to always be on Tom but if you do this on your home page it should work Click your profile picture . Click Settings . From the left-hand menu, click Playback and performance. Tick Always show captions. Tick Include auto-generated captions (when available). hopefully you will always get the subtitles after doing this. Hope this works , let me know if it doesnt .
I had both the Live In New York City album and VHS. The VHS had two Yoko tracks not released on the album: Born In A Prison and Sisters O Sisters, both of which I thought were great tracks. (Hey, Sean….how about a reissue, eh?)
I have the album and somewhere the VHS (but nothing to play it on) . There were other Yoko tracks that were left off the VHS We're All Water, Move on Fast and Don't Worry Kyoko. It woydk be great tho get the shows in their entirety
I was at the one to one matinee for 10d, I was 9.....no one interviewed me! Lol guaranteed they cut witnotw sadly the albatross in releases of sometime in NYC. Tho I know it was never racist.
Well, a documentary may be more interesting to me than a straight concert film. Of course the concerts are historically important, but I never thought the performances were all that great.
Hey Beatley Tone, do you think there is any chance that “Sometime In New York City” will get the treatment that Mind Games is getting? It would be nice to see it flushed out with unreleased tracks and demos. Thoughts?
It's something that we all want as we shouldn't be ignoring a John Lennon album as there were so few - we cant afford to lose one. Whether it will happen or not , Im afraid I dont have an insight into. It was announced for 2022 and then pulled . I really hope there's a change of heart
Also, I had read some time back that Yoko is still sitting on close to 300 + hours of unreleased material of John’s. Do you think that is a fairly accurate number . I know there was an album released in 2004 , John Lennon Acoustic, which was a collection of demos and live recordings , that featured his acoustic guitar work. I would guess after Yoko passes, Julian and Sean will go through the vaults like crazy , releasing stuff left and right. Any thoughts?
@@Bela-ko9ss I think there is loads of stuff still unreleased but I guess the quality of such material will play an important part in what gets released . I completely trust Sean to handle John's archive material with dignity just as Yoko has since 1980 when she promised to keep John's music alive and she has more than delivered on that promise. Im sure if theres good stuff hidden away it will see the light of day at some point. I hope the ultimate mixes series is done to its conclusion
We waited so many years for this shows to be properly remixed, and now that they are ready to be, there suddenly is a problem with the main song, which had never been before. Shame!
Hopefully the concerts will nbc released in their entirety for the first time. I dont see a problem with 'that' song - it has been re-released numerous times in the past. it is what it is and people have to understand the context
This period in John's solo years is not particularly my favorite. I will watch it if it's streamed, but I won't buy it. The Wings news however, is exciting, and I will waiting for you to give us the breaking news.

Move on Fast was another she did at the gig which i really like. Rocks its socks off. But yes hope theres an audio realease too
I am very excited that there will be a documentary in regards to the one to one concert I didn’t know that there was a documentary regarding that.
Yes it sounds like the remix has been done so hopefully we will get an audio release Jesse. Glad you are excited about this
It has been quite some time ago but I remember seeing an online interview with producer Jack Douglas where he states that he had been involved in a reissue of the album/film audio but this sounds like Sean is at the controls, great unexpected news Tone.
Yeah very exciting and unexpected news . Sounds like Sean and /or Yoko were not happy with the remix that jack Douglas did back in 2014. Although I suppose it could be that tech has moved on so much that Sean just took the available opportunity to improve it
Glad it's coming, but slightly sad there not in including a full evening show. October i bet this is out.
Well at this stage we dont know what is included so no need to be sad just yet my friend
I have my captions set to always be on Tom but if you do this on your home page it should work
Click your profile picture .
One of my friends went to the concert and he can be seen in the film in the audience during Give Peace Chance.
Ha great stuff Kevin. he must get a kick out of the every time he sees it
Unfortunately, he died young, before the video was ever released, but his brother was thrilled when I showed it to him!
@@KevinKomonyi That's a real shame . Sorry to read that Kevin
hope they do 1980 footage in a few years; that is the ultimate...
So many Beatles fans have signed up with Disney + for the GET BACK & LET IT BE films - it would be great if it was to stream on Disney +.
Yes that would a bonus Joeseph
Jack Douglas? Waa-heyy!
😂😂
I was at the one to one matinee for 10d, I was 9.....no one interviewed me! Lol guaranteed they cut witnotw sadly the albatross in releases of sometime in NYC. Tho I know it was never racist.
wow amazing that you were there Paul
He did working class hero and it sounded a bit like pink floyd in rehearsal..
What Wings news is this Charlie. I havent heard anything
