That’s precisely when the strange (for rock) instruments were being introduced. I don’t think either of them would’ve had a problem identifying She’s Leaving Home backwards. In 1966 there was a lot of strange sounds on Revolver too
What an awesome crossover, and good to finally see Jay after all his gloating! He does just have an ear for strange renditions of music, it seems. The drum only round was still the hardest one for sure.
Two things I wasn't expecting to learn when I clicked on this extremely enjoyable video: 1. I know the drum part from Taxman better than either of you (but would have lost on everything else) 2. Why no-one makes banana marmalade Looking forward to the rematch: Radiohead + eating an entire lemon

I like how at the beginning of the end, they were like, have we just been wasting banana skins? and gradually, they start to realize why we've been tossing them
Jay Foreman has an eerie talent of singing a song off one note. Hearing a song backwards should be no challenge for him at all. His brain scares me a little.
I didn't identify many songs in the first two rounds, but then I got Tax Man, which neither Jay nor David got and hence I can already unilaterally declare myself the winner! Thank you, thank you everyone! 🙏🏾🎉😘
I thought it was ticket to ride at first… but quickly remembered that it was more Tom-heavy lmao. As soon as they said in my life I was like “d’oh!” I got a few of the drum ones that David missed, I think the songs they chose for that are more well known and that’s probably why I feel that way
I only missed 3 of them. I'd love to see more guest spots like this. I bet Elliot Roberts, Andrew from Parlogram Auctions, Rick Beato, and Jack White could score well on an Ultimate Beatles Quiz.
For the isolated drums at 7:45 [Spoiler space] .. ... .. I thought those cymbal splashes at the end were from The Word (on the line: "It's so fine, it's sunshine."). It never occurred to me until now how similar that bit is to the bit where the title gets sung in You Won't See Me!
Just underscores how inventive each of Ringo's drum parts were. If I hadn't listened to the isolated drum parts of 'You Won't See Me" 10 bazillion times I'd never have guessed.
I agree, but I think Jay got the harder first round, and he smashed the third round anyway so I don't think it affected the result of this entirely non-consequential, friendly, goofy game of otherwise useless trivia.
I recognised the drum part for We Can Work It Out immediately and was very nearly shouting at my monitor "THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST DRUM-FORWARD SONGS IN THEIR CATALOGUE. YOU TALKED ABOUT THAT TIME SIGNATURE CHANGE IN ONE OF YOUR VIDEOS. HOW DARE YOU GET THIS WRONG, YOU HACK, YOU FRAUD!" then promptly went back to "Oh wow, good job that one was tough". Thank you for teaching me that I would be intolerable to watch sports with.
I saw a recipe once for a vegan pulled pork substitute made from banana peels. There was a lot of processing and seasoning involved, but at least we know banana peels are technically, theoretically edible.
Fantastic video. I love Jay and David and seeing them both together was a treat. Its worth acknowledging in this video that Jay has perfect pitch, which makes most of the questions significantly easier for him, so it’s really no surprise that he won against David who doesn’t have PP, it simply isn’t a fair fight. It does seem David was aware of this as he alludes to Jay having PP at 14:05. Still, I’d love to see more collabs with both creators in future!

👍👍👍 for that Taskmaster sting before the final scores.
😁😁
The 67 era Beatles songs are surprisingly recognisable backwards, as the music from that era is so distinctive.

Wow the drum part was MUCH harder than I expected.

This was so purely englishly dry, I love it
I guessed everything, drum parts and backwards songs included, but I guess wearing a headphone helps a lot in that

Cheeky little Taskmaster stinger there
With the exception of come together, the drum part was really tough too!

I could get a massive score in a radiohead version of this
Radiohead, Ladytron, Portishead I feel I would have good chances on each time. I'd be rather screwed against Dave on the Beatles for sure though
That was the only one I got for the drum round too, oddly enough

Round 3 was straight up insane. It's beyond Beatles knowledge at this point; Jay Foreman is just a wizard.
He has a video where he can play any Beatles song 1 lyric off the beat. I think he just has a good mental ability to think with music/time.
The backwards round was easy.
I picked Hey Bulldog straight away because the grove barely changes, but the rest of them I had no idea. Jay is definitely a wizard though.
