The best part about this is not the effectiveness, but just the fact that the jittery recoil makes it look like a proper artillery piece.
I KNEW IT REMINDED ME OF SOMETHING
Let's also appreciate that it's sending the bombs away at mach 2
@@crayzkato6607 It wasn't even hard to see it
Yeah, I just couldn’t put ny finger on it
You could probably put it in a ship too
Last time I saw a piston head separate that far from the piston body the entrance to my base exploded...
I turned the safety detach off for this gun, which, ironically, makes it safer :)
@@MajorJon Clang logic
@@MajorJon this is amazing i just wish my pc could run the game
@@MajorJon question, have you ever toyed around with gravity cannons?
Last time that happened, my friend send an elevator at my face creating a 10blocs deep hole in the ground
I really wish SE featured weapon components instead of, well, simply weapons. Imagine all the crazy diversity the community would come up with instead of simply slapping on more guns. Gravity powered railguns are a perfect example. It would be so fun if there were more effects in SE than plain damage and area damage.
yeah like stormworks
Something like the advanced cannons from FtD might work
I always wanted a sniper rail gun that could blow a hole in a ship, but the 100 speed limit doesn’t let that work
@@BuilderB08 than remove the speed limit
I'd love something like what From the Depths allows
Me: "Well it's literally just ballista, it can't be that po-"
*Ship is split in 2*
Me: "...Nevermind"
As it was put in another video game "Sir Issac Newton is the deadliest son'of'a'bitch in the universe"
underestimation leads to destruction
Ballistae were very powerful weapons for their time, last I checked.
It's a ballista that is shooting a warhead, though. We need to see it use a normal block to judge the effectiveness.
when it comes to weapons, simpler is almost always more powerful
this person harnessed the power of clang to build an overpowered weapon. also, it reminds me of a halo MAC cannon.
There's a mod for those
WITNESS THE MIGHT OF CLANG
Ah yes. The Magnetic Accelerator Cannon Cannon.
Forehead.
@@therevanite7151 It's really unfortunate how many people suffer from RAS Syndrome.
@Bob Builder it's not really using magnets though, so maybe Mine Accelerator Clang cannon?
In my personal opinion, this clang gun is perfectly balanced. Ship's maneuvrability drastically drops with clang gun. If hit, there is big chance of destroying your own ship, it's size makes it even easier to hit and projectiles can be dodged from longer distances.
Shot down as well but probably not by AI controlled weapons
propah orky
Your gonna dodge 2 blocks moving at 660 m/s in the void of space?
I feel like the clang gun is better as a static defense, if put on a ship it should be put on a ship meant for long range engagements that’s relatively cheap and quick enough to run if needed so that it can act as a sniper support style ship
@@Salt_discriminater Newton's Law, my dude. An Object in Motion stays in Motion. There are no missed targets in Space. Just mostly unintentional ones.
"That MAC gun can put a round clean through a Covenant capital ship. With coordinated fire from the Athens and the Malta, nothing's getting past this battle cluster in one piece"
I told you to move see what happens when you sit still thinking he can't hit shit🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I feel like this is exactly the type of thing humans would do IRL.
too bad the laws of physics, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics don't allow for such wonders of technological culmination and chaos.
@@engineer84-w8x as far as we know...
@@justsomejerseydevilwithint4606 i mean, probably with some entanglement tomfoolery you could make the pistons interact with each other in such a way to produce the clang effect, but it would be impractical compared to other means of accelerating projectiles such as chemical propellant, railguns, coilguns, or even WH40k gravimetric accelerator units (aka Nova Cannons).
@@engineer84-w8x Right, the only place we know physics breaks down anywhere is with singularities and that's because the massive gravity values kinda glitch the fabric of reality, so unless we want to get spaghettificated and have time warp around us every time we shoot something, that's probably not a good idea
Take advantage of physics??? Heck yeah!!!!
Holy smoke mach 2. you should make a Gatling gun out of these.
You are basicly handing him the keys of the Deathstar dude xD
Sawer *Heavy robotic breathing intensifies*
Yeah, place three or so on a rotor... 2 of such should shred anything pretty instantly.
The problem is the reload time. The rotor speed, which determines the fire rate due to the design, is limited by how fast the construction of a new projectile is.
@Jared Kaiser That would be kinda the point of Gatling gun.
One shoots another are preparing and another is already ready to fire.
I use to feel space engineers was lacking in ship weapons, then I learned that with just a little physics breaking you could make an effective big gun.
Perfect for spinal mounts of bigass turrets.
you can also make some effective guided missiles/torpedo's with different kinds of warheads if you know much about gyros and sensors
Grav railguns are ineffective because the projectile is too slow. The engine got speed limit for gravity. But pistons can break it and go fast enough to basicly be unstoppable by turrets and most armor
@@derdrache0512 The glitch that lets Clang Gun projectiles break the speed limit works for gravity cannons too. Recent tinkering has netted me a gravity gun that can semi-reliably put massive craters in slabs of Heavy Armor, with a muzzle velocity of 500 m/s.
there should be a server where players are supplied infinite components and are tasked with finding a crew, building a ship, going to space and destroying as many other ships as possible
It would need to be reset daily (or more frequently) to clean things up, but sounds fun.
A large scale pve with regular raid bosses?
This man legit just described every creative server ever
@@howaboutno7429 no i mean like survival with infinite components
like you need to worry about players being killed
Maybe station defense. Each team gets a station with infinite resources. If it gets destroyed, players who are killed from that team are permanently dead, and no more infinite resources. Last team alive wins.
Praise be to Clang, in Clang we trust that our greatest inventions will destroy themselves rather than do what they are made for...all hail The Clang.
Those heretic non-Clang ships stand no chance against the Lord Clang.
I do think that the use of 5 at the same time is a war crime.
Hippity Hoppity, hit The Clang and there's no more property
It's never a war crime, the first time.
it's not a war crime if you win
Def a war crime bro 🤣🤣🤣
It's not a war crime if no one lives to tell the tale lol
Do you think it is possible to launch a smaller clang gun with this one? And turn shoot the second one mid flight like a 2 stage rocket?
That looks like Clang heresy, it is likely that piston structure on piston structure would behave weird on launch
@@user-mg5fv3pv7o "looks like Clang heresy"
*Looks at video*
I... I think that ship has sailed already xD
@@eaoden8654 i mean that making such thing is good for Clang God, but making it as complex as it was suggested in root comment may be a bit heresy))
Very impressive build
stages are only to cut dry mass, not necessary here since specific impulse isnt important
youd want to fire everything at nearly the same time
edit: depends on the function the game uses for friction, it may result in more distance for less maximum speed
For a clang gun, the way the thing fire's is oddly buttery smooth.
yeah it's totally useless in survival but works great in creative as you can see🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Humans: *Turns Klang into a weapon
Also Humans: "Are we the real Eldritch abominations?"
Now imagine having these controlled by Whiplashes custom turret script and dotted across asteroids near your base
Earth Defence Grid MAC platforms 😳
@@t.y2974 yep!
Those fucken psychotic orbital defense systems in Battletech…
Since I make UNSC ships, I might be able to use this for the mac.
Damn, you never cease to hurt my head with this amazing alien technology!
I've been trying to learn to build this and I can't seem to figure out how on earth do you trick SE to accept the ludicrous safety detach numbers on your pistons and rotors?
That's pretty simple actually and disabling the safety detach doesn't even do much apart from making it safer, ironically.
Just go the blueprint file (somewhere in appdata), delete the .sbcB5 and edit the other one. Then just look for the pistons and change the safetydetach to NaN.
Awesome, thanks! I was just having a bit of trouble with the piston head of "piston stac 1" detaching without it, now to channel my kindergarten arts and crafts skills and glue it to a ship and cause some chaos >:)
O powerful clang, grant us your velocity
Do a bow to stern shot...looks more impressive to see a hole punched the entire length of the ship
Also what sort of damage will this do if pointed at the ground from orbit?
clang being clang, it'll probably retain the momentum it had after gravity lefts its influence forever
you might need to upsize the clang guns a bit and voilla, planet defense battery
@@candyman_315 good point.
And I've always been a fan of those scenes when you see a giant turret in shows/games/movies smoothly turn with a soft whine of motors to point at the target....
I was thinking the same thing. As well as trying to shoot it from the ground into orbit and seeing if you could make a defense network with them.
@@gammothguy297 I'm trying to not try to figure out the logistics of that.
I don't want to figure out how to make it detect targets, much less have it do the calculus to shoot them with any level of accuracy.
@@Gearshoot You’d probably need it to be manually aimed.
Edit: Though you might be able to get several to aim at the same place, so you can shoot multiple at the same time to the same place.
"When I shipped out for basic, the Orbital Defense Grid was all theory and politics. Now look! The Cairo is just one of three hundred geosync platforms. That MAC gun can put a round clean through a Covenant capital ship. With coordinated fire from the Athens and the Malta, nothing's getting past this battle cluster in one piece."
Its more stable than most Jolt Guns I’ve seen. My last design I mounted as the main front gun on my biggest warship tore the whole front apart when firing. Although I do like the idea of making a turret with three of these Jolt Guns mounted in the turret to maximize damage on one of warships since it is showed these things can work well near one another.
Was the warship made of light armor blocks?
This is the ultimate weapon, I still want to see someone make a gravity generator railgun
Plenty have Tried it before, works alright but takes up way more space than it's worth and it's ridiculously expensive
Grav cannons were a thing waaaay back before guns were in the game, people very quickly figured out how to weaponize grav guns and still do
@@battleoid2411 I miss the rock clang you could do with them
Did that once with a mod that uncapped movement speed. It fired projectiles at over 2km/s. They would phase through part of the ship and explode inside. It was crazy. The grav pulling on the shell also moved the entire ship forward slowly. It was terrifying.
Reminds me of the Halo Mac Guns. Smart design. Would be cool to see one built into a ship as a primary weapon.
I'm literally thinking the same thing but you'd probably have to make it spinally mounted so that you can protect it and aim it easily
Magnetic Accelerator Cannon Gun.
Forehead.
@@SizzleCorndog Nah you can probably fit it into a turret, you'll just need a big turret.... and ship.
@@therevanite7151 they litterally refer to them as MAC guns/ MAC cannons in universe
Space A-10
Door blocks on light armor would be totally devastating with that cannon
You've done it again and I am amazed. I won't even ask to try and port this over to Xbox if you haven't already, because damn. Good thing I've come back to PC 😂
Its on the workshop for console its found by searching piston gun
If I may, I have the perfect name for this space artillery piece, with a hint of historical fact: The Last Argument of Clang.
this could be used for something like a emergency escape pod for heated combat.
I think the crew of the pod would just be a red paste on the back wall of it
@Skull King mmmmmm strawberry
@@skullking9471 I won't apologize for art.
"YOU CANT JUST SHOOT A HOLE INTO THE SURFACE OF MARS"
"haha schem goes brrrrr"
Well I'll be damned. I was looking for a compact rotor gun launching large grid projectiles for a mech turret to complement guided missiles and you madlad have done it!
true what if we make the projectile larger and give it thrusters to make it a guided bullet, you would need to be far from the oponent buuuuut
This is a super ship killer, anything without agility will be murdered by this thing, so probably a great bunker buster.
Also still looks like a weapon even though it's using a glitcj
Now we can make a UNSC Class Halcyon Light Crusier out of this
Imagine a huge space battleship, with 4 twin turrets with these guns.
Damn I forgot how fuggin cool Space Engineers is. Time to reinstall it, start a survival campaign, and do nothing but splat against walls and run out of girders for hours.
imagine playing on a server and seeing some one rock up to a space battle with one of these, yeah say good bye to your ship
"That MAC gun can put a round clean through a Covenant capital ship." -Sgt Avery Johnson.
Imagine this on the Pillar of Autumn as its MAC... lovely
Could you make a tutorial on how you build these? I'm looking forward to better understand those contraptions.
you gotta make sure you have a sacrificial goat or other large mammal to give to clang before you even attempt such feats. spreading your own blood on your computer monitor also helps i find
Pray to klang every night before you go to bed
It makes such a satisfying noise when you fire it too. Beautiful.
This just got thrown into my recommended page and I have to say I love it. They even look like guns.
i think..., you could probably use this as an Anti-Orbital weapon, or Orbital Defense Platform, since it really likes to tear ships apart
always wondering if such machines are safe to mount on any ship since my previous experience with SE is that anything can make your ship suddenly flip at 250m/s to the side of your base
Clever idea! Amazing execution
I find it amusing how well these cannons worked for you and I honestly could see designing a turret to accommodate such a cannon could only imagine it being something like the cannon in reach ^-^
i need to know how far these projectiles fly when launched on a planet at the optimal angle because lets face it we want to be able to hit any target even if its half way across the planet
there is really no counter to something going that fast it will have hit before an auto turret is capable of aiming at the projectile
but im mostly wondering distance
Ever heard of punctuation?
@@Anvilshock no what is that is that some kind of food is it good
Does this work on a non stationary grid? As in can this be mounted on an actual ship
Well considering the fact he wasn’t using it attached to an asteroid, probably.
@@J0hnB09 In creative, pasted grids follow inertia you placed them, also unsupported stations exist
Best railgun design I've seen.
You're able to surprise and scare me at the same time.

You can’t just shoot a hole into the surface in this game Samuel said…
Samuel Hayden: "You can't just shoot a hole to return back to hell"
Doomguy: (aggressive clicking noises)
But seriously, I could see doomguy looking at this and be like "I need to get one of those"
You screwed up the quote.
A truly s-tier weapon. Great video. Subscribed.
You somehow harnessed the power of Clang every time I try to things just implode in spectacular ways
I use the battleship you blew up as the basis for my battleship and even with many weapon mods, it is hard to put those ships down. so that speaks to the power of that gun.
just imagine a fighter like craft with 2 of these guns, otherwise known as absolute carnage

Holy clang..
This is so cool!!!

I never heard of this game until today and i felt in love with the physics
Make 4 of these, stuff them into a ship. Wabam, UNSC approved
i can imagine a large ship with multiple turrets having 2 of these things each, then flying into battle and absolutely nuking everything that gets in the way
Space engineers is a great show of how human beings can weaponise the laws and elements of any given universe against one another in any and every way possible.
Considering that 'Clang' is something of a deity-like entity in Space Engineers, the name 'Clang Gun' is... interesting.
Clang is a phenomenon in this game and the god of said phenomenon, it’s more named after the phenomenon.
this gave me an idea to try and build Schwerer Gustav with it
good Good A fine addition to my collection
....... All hail clang, the great deity of space engineers!
Thank you for taking the time to answer one of humanities greatest questions.
this reminds me so much of the MAC gun platform from Halo 3, the way it slowly charges up and then shoots a projectile hella fast
Not only is it super functional, it also LOOKS appealing. 10/10 design man
I have never played this game before but the destruction is very satisfying to see.
You are a lunatic. And I love it!
What madness is this? Invoking the power of Clang to bring destruction to your enemies? You are a true emissary of Clang. Teach me your ways.
I had a "1 hour of silence occasionally broken by the bababooey sound effect" playing in the background and the gun fired in slow-mo at the exact same time a bababooey played.
What's amazing is how fast you can fire this thing, like you can fire that every second if you wanted.
dude thats cool man great work have u tryed making that but into a turret also ?
Imagine a ship using these as broadside cannons!
Bruh, really GG! That's like the most powerful battleship out there afaik, and your gun literally just plays with it
Whenever I see the words "piston gun" I always hear it being said like "KITCHEN GUN" from that one spoof video.
You've weaponized Clang.... I am both impressed and terrified.
Now that is a deck gun to be reckoned with
this is the kind of stuff i want to see
the addition of non0warhead explosive blocks made this age like a fine wine
i wanna see two of these on a ground mounted turret, so cool
or better yet 4 in a square
Ground mounted clang gun is just Stonehenge from AC
this man just harnessed the power of clang!!! GIVE HIM A MEDAL!!
Back when I played SE the hot sh*t was using gravity generators to spin up wads of stones and then reversing them to create a flechette effect, I like how things have seemingly gotten more primitive yet somehow more powerful
Awesome
I like how it looks like a proper artillery cannon.
space pirate: I HAVE THE MOST POWERFUL SPACE SHIP EVER

Clang guns. This is a whole new rabbit hole I'm going to fall into for a game I don't play.
Beautiful.
Very nice
Let’s see a gatling version
So I just watched a streamer in twitch mess with clang guns, and now RUclips is recommending me clang gun videos. Big tech is scary, man.
This kinda works like it's flicking the bomb, with one "finger" pulling backward slowly and the other pushing forward quickly.
Pretty cool.
"a bit overpowered" is an understatement in my opinion
Impressive!
id love it even more if you make a turret from this
Okay this game would actually be fun to play around with, like imagine a 100 person server 50 people on two massive ships trying to kill each other. It would be so much fun
You've made a miniature version of the Galaxy Gun from Star Wars. I approve
