This song was sung at a wedding of 2 Contra dancers who invited their contra dancing community to the wedding and everyone danced down the aisles out of the church at the end of the wedding! It was the most memorable wedding I have ever attended!!
Dancing is a symbol of happiness. If you put that in instead of dance it's saying rejoice or be happy where ever you may be, I am the Lord of happiness. Jesus is leading you in the dance which here means trial, telling you to be happy through your trial as he danced (rejoiced) through His.
@Irishborne I completely agree. I grew up going to Catholic school and church and the modern Christian version of anything, especially music, just doesn't sit right. I much prefer the sound of music and voices echoing in the vastness of a Catholic church than the modern sounds of microphones and stages.. At least when it comes to Catholic hymns.
@Irishborne Well, it's a good thing you're part English, as Sidney Carter was English and he used a tune out of American Shakers music. Which is convenient, I think, considering that such Gospel style is the descendant of that same music.
Really awesome sing this at school at chapel but it's really boring thumbs up if you think they should promote livlier churchs in school to bring the youth to christ
@crazyupstart- i think the "s" problem is a result of video artefacting. Tthis looks like a copy of a a low resaloution copy, and all the letters are slightly funky as far as i can tell.

@BradzPromoFtw No problem. Thanks for apoligizing. i'm sorry too. Take care.
Why are those people just sitting there? Why aren't they on their feet DANCING!?!?!?

Did anyone else notice that all the "s"s are dollar signs?
@BradzPromoFtw make me emo boy.
I prefer this to be sung by Irishmen :)
The drunkenness is optional, of course.
its hard to dance with the DEVIL on your back....not the world on my back, get it right.
love the song but these singers need to learn better tone quality and musical skills. the song is amazing!
one of the WORST versions if not the WORST versions of this song.
