There's something very righteous about this song.
Indubitably!!! Nothing else even close.

Still watching in 2023. I think what makes it for me are the people with tears in their eyes and those who quietly joined in on their own. Beautiful.
Jesus said: If I am lifted up, I will draw all men to me.
Today they lifted up Jesus in a food court and I know I was drawn even closer to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords with tears in my eyes. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Amen!!
The best part is where people who are obviously not part of the performance stand up and join in.
Mr. Rabinovitch is talking about the people who stood up but who were not singing, and I saw a number of them. Since I know this piece extremely well, and can remember it almost as well now as I did when I first sang it 49 years ago (OMG, can’t believe it was that long), let me note that the reason that their standing is important is that standing is what is traditionally done by the audience when hearing The Hallelujah Chorus. The first time it was performed for the king of England, he stood (some think he was “moved” but the king himself never said and rarely did kings show emotion publicly), and of course everyone joined him. (This chorus is the final song. In Handel’s “Messiah”). Since then it is done traditionally the same, with all the audience standing and listening quietly.
That's his spirit it's why we weep
@@eddrum -- I had wondered about that. Thanks. I only wish I could have been there... would've been balling my eyes out. I do every time I watch this. But it's a good crying.
What makes you think they weren’t a part of the choir?
It's been a custom all over the world since the first performance of Handel's Messiah in England for all to STAND for the Hallelujah Chorus!
This is NOT an easy piece and yet everyone who was a choir kid still has their part ingrained in their head for all eternity and that's what makes it such a perfect song for a flash mob
Tardisin221B our church had choirs for every ago group( very large church). Everyone got to sing this for the midnight Christmas service. In middle & high school I became one of the first sopranos. The song still gives me chills.
So absolutely true! At age 62 I still know my alto part from high school. This performance was fantastic. I bet the acoustics were great😊
abrs100 so true! I sang in choirs growing up, but I learned this while my mom practiced her soprano part over and over for our church’s Christmas performance. Decades later I still know it and sing it all the time to myself.
My high school chorus sung this song when I was in high school.
I sang baritone in high school concert choir. I LOVE this piece. Perhaps my favorite aspect of the Christmas season. Of course, I sing along whenever I hear it. Emotionally moving.

I am Roman Catholic and God bless you!!
That is not an insult to you…..it is genuine.
Maybe you should change your thinking and be baptized into Jesus Christ as commanded in Acts 2:37, 38. Give it serious thought.
I have viewed this so many times, it gives me the chills. To think Handel threw the Messiah together in 2 weeks.
That's what happens sometimes when you're divinely inspired. 🙂
I read that certain music is composed in the higher levels (in the astral planes of existence, at a higher dimensional frequency zone of reality. In the higher realms of the astral are the various versions of heaven, for example, although there are lower regions with lower vibes definitely not angelic!). Then these special songs are vibrationally/intuitively "downloaded" through musicians who can assume the correct wavelength to pick up that signal. Not all music, not even a majority, is necessarily composed higher up then sent down, but such music arrives as if fully written to the musician, who just needs to write it out as they hear it in their head. My famous composer friend has explained the difference; she said that kind of song just arrives and flows through the guitar and words onto paper complete, as is, words and tune and harmonies and chords as if already written and just downloaded in a single sitting; while other songs are composed here laboriously, slaving over the lyrics and chord progressions that are best... those can take as long as years before they come to completion. But since she isn't writing multi-part choral music, it could take two weeks to "channel" something like this and get it all just as heard in the head - especially since Handel didn't have any recording equipment. 🙂
I believe it is God inspired - taken by Handel, fresh from being in His Holy, awesome Presence.
My brother had a western civ class in college, and the prof offered an automatic A to anyone who could hand copy
Handel’s Messiah, you got the whole semester to do it. No one ever had, lol. And neither did he.
Someone else picked out the scriptures for him though...ready about it.
I wish flash mobs that sings songs about His majesty would sing in all cities and states at least once a month. Our world could use use more of those type of songs. :)

Mad respect to the first girl who had to start it off.
She is magnificent and courageous!
This was my mamas favorite Christmas video. We probably watched it a thousand times over a span of 8 years. She loved it!. She would allow herself the tiniest prideful smile when she'd turn her friends or anyone visiting on to it. At 92 she felt so cool knowing what You-tube, a Flashmob, to 'cast' a program and the term 'going viral' meant. When I watch this now I can still feel her hand held tightly in mine while we watched just like the mamas and their children watching it the first time. Somehow the beauty of the moment always made her hand find mine. Sometimes our hands found my son's and we would stop all the business of the season and form a chain as we listened. Such a precious gift.
You were cool mama. you were the coolest ever and I miss you with every breath.

Metastasized breast cancer took my mom from me years before her time.
Christmas was our favorite time of the year, both together and individually. My mom introduced me to Handel's Messiah by way of a live performance when I was quite young.
In an effort to not be so depressed at Christmas since her passing, I have made it a tradition to play the entire Messiah first thing every Christmas morning. I don't think it's possible to stay depressed after listening to The Halleluia Chorus.
Not only that, but about 15 years ago, I discovered that I had learned the lyrics to the entire Messiah by heart (I have learned music by ear since the ripe old age of six). Anytime I get the opportunity to perform the Messiah, or merely the finale itself, I jump at the chance. I do, and will always think of my mother when I hear it. I wish you the same blessing. 🙏🏻

Please don't ever take down this video, it's a wonderful experience even on video! I've often wondered how many singers were involved, and what church or choral group they belong to at the time. Some years ago I was in a large choir and our conductor who we had had for over twenty five years died. There was a memorial service held for him and as the family left the church the organist (who was the choir’s organist) started playing the Hallelujah chorus and people all over the church sang their parts from where they were. Totally spontaneously. It was so special.
Fabulous! I loved this. These people actually sounded joyful and inspired while singing, which is how the song should sound, like they are celebrating------unlike so many professional choirs who only sound bored. Extremely well done.

Yes me too. I come to listen a few times a year since finding this. Best version of this, so simple and uplifting.
Yes! In late 2019 it still melts the heart.
Me too
And He shall reign for ever and ever hallelujah! Amen! 2022…
Most beautiful rendition of my favorite chorus I've ever heard!!
It thrilled me that Jesus was being proclaimed in such an awe-inspiring way - among many people who do not yet know Him.
Our Jesus is majestic!!
He is worthy to be honored and praised - right out there among people whom He suffered and died for and for whom He cares.
Why has nothing this cool ever happened when I was at a mall?
This is the best version of this song on RUclips.. I'm in tears.. glory to God
Me too Stephen! All glory, honor and praise to our Lord Jesus forever and ever!
same here !!! Bless you !!!
Amen!
This is what heaven will sound like!
@@bluehammy1 and probably even better!
13 years later and this is STILL one of my favorite videos to watch around Christmas. Such a powerful and beautiful public expression of talent, love, and community. God bless everyone reading this, watching this, and the folks that put this together. Merry Christmas!
Every now and then I head back here just so I can raise my hands in joy as our Messiah Himself is worshipped so magnificently by the amazing talent, and to see the joy in the faces of their unsuspecting audience. Reminds me of the angels turning up to the shepherds tending the sheep announcing His arrival with praise and worship.
This is spectacular. What a way to enter the Christmas season. Oh that all could grasp the significance of the message contained in this beautiful chorus!
Yes!!!
He IS coming soon. You can see all things heading up in that direction
One day everyone will bow before the Saviour and acknowledge Him as King of Kings and Lord of Lords
@@tonymercer7759 Amen! 🙏🏻 May it be so!
I've always found this to be one of the most joyous songs ever written
Nancy Benefiel hallelujah
This is the excellent Chorus Niagara performing at Seaway Mall in Welland, Ontario. Though I first watched this years ago, I still wander back through when I need a lift. Cheers to all the performers, to the AV crew who captured it, and to the mall for supporting them!
I was looking at the surroundings and gathered that it happened in Ontario. Wasn't sure exactly where though. Thanks!
I saw the Manchu wok (which I knew was a Canadian chain) and the chairs and recognized it right away as it was my childhood mall, such an insane coincidence, I was looking for this comment hhahaha
Now this is a flash mob I could get into. This is what a flash mob should be! Just like the Movies! Legendary!!! Put down the phone.
To me this will always be the best flash mob. The singing is amazing!!
Azrael Skylyn i agree 100%!!!
Yes, amazing singing in a restaurant. No studio touch up.
While He was in the manger, He was holding the universe together by His power. Amazing!!
"... and He shall reign for ever and ever..." for this World has no end: Hallelujah! Amen! 👌
This has been my Christmas treat every December. I Usually wait until Christmas week, turn up the volume as high as loud as it can play and just sit back with my eyes closed and cry tears of JOY!
Lord Jesus, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Forever and Ever! Amen
Right there with you Ken. This is restaurant quality stuff, served up by God (with extra gravy, of course)!
Several years on, and this still gets my vote as the best ever.... I've seen them all, and none approach the joy and wonder this video generates
+Bryan Greenacre I could not agree with you more! It is outstanding!!
+Rod Lewis ikr ii also need to study this but I'm still 9 years old. my choir teacher told us to sing this
+Ariahjem Paler It's a good technical piece to study, and you will enjoy it......... not sure I know many 9 yo bass or tenor voices though :) Good on you and I hope you continue singing for a long, long time.
***** actually I'm soprano one and I'm learning it on Lenten at the church
+Bryan Greenacre completely agree. This simple video perfectly captures the raw talent of both the composer and the singers. I can't make it all the way through without being moved.
This brings tears to my eyes. I come back and watch it every Christmas.
Same for me brother.
Merry Christmas 😄
Same
Those high notes and harmony's sound so beautiful goosebumps
Deeply moving, brings tears of joy to my eyes! So beautiful! Christ the savior is born.
