Which is it, he is a genious virtioso or he practised his ass off? I started playing the drums at four and I taught myself by ear. (Everyone in my family did this including a few that taught themselves lefthanded on righthanded instruments.). I pick songs up and I either learn them that way, or I go to a RUclips drum cover. (Played from behind looking at the drum set.)

I'd say he Is a natural talent. I'd also say he loves it too. I noticed that he paid no attention to anybody or anything going on around him. He was a little shy there at the end when he finished and turned round and saw everybody watching and listening to his playing. Love videos like this.
Hmm I dont know why people always say its "Talent", thats nonsense. Nobody is born being able to sing, play piano or paint like Rembrandt. Its alot of work and effort .... everyone can learn to sing, now whether your voice sounds good or not is a different story of course. Iam not saying this in a negative way, the opposite because again there is alot of work and effort involved to learn things.
Freddie Mercury encouraged others to play his songs rather than suing everyone for infringment. He would be proud if he saw this. Children often have talents that we know nothing about until they show it. This kid will go places.

Hey there, I’ve played violin since I was 3 and I’m 22 now. I wouldn’t say I’m professional or anything but I’m decent enough to play in small orchestras and in pit orchestras for musicals. And I did not practice for 6 hours a day. That is complete baloney. As my teacher would say, it’s not how much or for how long you practice, it’s HOW you practice. You can spend a lot of time on something and not see improvement if you don’t break it down and work on it in tiny steps. I would practice about half an hour to an hour a day, and I found that much more helpful than trying to push for more. Plus, the important thing is finding enjoyment in the instrument. If you’re that heartbroken about giving it up, that means you genuinely wanted to play it. My advice would be to find a different teacher (I went through three in my life), and start small. It’s not too late to come back to it if you really want to.

When I used to play music, I found going off sheet music was a lot more awkward than just hearing the song from memory and doing it. That may not be the case for everyone, but it's definitely not uncommon.
You so remind me of my husband. He started playing at 6 and by 8 he was playing for his church. He's now 67 and still plays. When our grandkids were in band, he did their UIL solo accompaniments. He told me that he used to have practice before school and then afterward too. You are amazing and you should keep it up. So much talent.

From playing an instrument, I feel it is much more then just touching certain areas of it but also the overall feeling and intenseness it can create and portray. Passion has to play a part also, that can rarely be taught.
