+Dorky Dragon were-vultures*, were-hawks aren't a thing, and hagravens seem to be closer to vultures than hawks, or ravens, which is ironic because their name suggests that they should be closer to ravens. But I guess hag-vulture doesn't sound as good as hagraven
For those interested, in ESO it seems that briarhearts are grown from people. The hagravens would plant briarheart seeds into a dead person, and the tree would grow using the person as fertilizer. Whether that is actually canon or not i don't know :O
can you guys please explain to me something If someone dies by selling his soul to Lorkhan he goes to Sovngard If someone sells his soul to a Daedra he goes to the Daedra's Rhelm of Oblivion Then What about an atheist like Brignjolf of the thieves guild? If he did not became a nightingale where would his soul go ?
Year late, but hey...smarticles and all that That's how great the Elder Scrolls lore is. Without mods, everyone would be bored of Skyrim in like, the first few days of owning it.
Actual Pain Too bad we'll likely never get a new Elder Scrolls title - at least not any time soon - since Bethesda LOVES milking the living shit out of Skyrim.
The Forsworn and the Hagravens have a very pagan feel to them. Especially when you said how witches become hags who then become Hagravens. This makes me think of The Maiden, The Mother and The Crone (aka the triple goddess from paganism). Also when you where talking about the natural/nature type of magics it kinda reminded me of the force (as in from star wars) and how the dark side of the force can be considered a twisted version of the force by some. Thus many who use the dark side of the force usually show it in there out ward appearance. For instance how Palpatine aka the emperor turns really old n ugly after he over exerts himself using force lightning to kill windu in the second film. Which makes me think of what happens to the hagravens and that their form is from using nature magic to for unatural things and thus overtime it twists and deforms them. I quote Palpatine on this 'The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural'. Which would make hagravens the complete opposite to Nymphs/spriggans as nymphs/spriggans are born as a part of nature. Not to mention what they do to make briarhearts, The Briarhearts do gain physical strength and endurance (you will know what I mean if you have fought one as they are the strongest of the forsworn). However they do seem to undergo some sort of almost necromantic ritual. I also wouldn't be surprised if after the ritual they become mindless and and puppets for the hagravens to. Sorry if that was hard to understand and a bit jumbled. Its sometimes hard for me to catch my thoughts and type them down befor they fly off lol XD.
+FF sake I agree with you on this and I am a pagan myself born Pagan and from UK but I'm Norwegian/Welsh blood! my parents and there parents and so forth are all pagan too! but yes this video does align well with the pagan way of life! blessed be and light )O(
FF sake So I've been Killing Pagans when I kill Forsworn!!??? I've been killing Forsworn Like The Animals They are! Just saying The Forsworn Are The Tusken Raiders of Skyrim
Spriggans are more like the angry parts of Kynareth, entirely unpleasant monsters that want only to live in woods free of anything that doesn’t follow their rules. Kyne herself is pretty decent as far as God’s go, but they aren’t perfect. Hagravens are basically crappy Liches, they’re significantly less powerful and have a questionable immortality. Though the Glenmoril Witches that cure your Lycanthropy back in Morrowind are still alive 200 years later and we know Nords can’t live that long. So maybe they are immortal, who knows?
hagravens worship hircine and they also venerate other gods connected to the "natural order". Skyrim really didn't do justice to the witches and hagravens, because these people, in the past games were good people that just practiced their magics in secret. and in comes skyrim and they're all evil because reasons. hagravens and witches are in more connection with hircine and kyne in terms of their magical practices. Hagravens are basically the elder scrolls equivalent of a "druid"
Well, any race that supports the Fosworn needs to not exist... If I need nature fighting back, I want spriggans, not crazy witches who made themselves into monstrosities for more powerful magic.
100% agree although Anise could have went about her secret being found out in a different way and her sister Moira should have signed the divorce papers 😂 but yeah the witches were cheated I like how in ESO u meet the glenmoril wyrd and they r totally nice but in skyrim they r evil no explanation. Illia is still my favorite follower till this day.
Great video! I've recently gotten into Skyrim once again and I'm trying to get into the lore on a deeper level. Your videos are great! Also, I really like the background music, makes the video really enjoyable to listen to.
Pretty sure Hircine is the go-to for Hagravens. He created lycanthropy, a physically similar condition, and makes sense lore-wise, not to mention that one of the named covens also reveres him
+Massimo Beckers The Dwemer thought they were better than the Daedras, and would refuse to deal with them like other races would. They also despised magic, albeit you could argue they already used a hell of a lot of it.
This is a truly beautiful video. From the audio to the filming to the wonderfully constructed rambling to the quality of the voice to the fascinating nature of the subject. Really looking forward to more videos of this nature! Subscribed.
I love this guys videos so much. His voice is soft and inviting, the music is soft and lulling in the background, and the content he talks about is fascinating. Love this guy. Keep it up man!
I love all your videos. I learn so much and I have played through this game many times and read most of the books. Hagravens are one of the most interesting creatures, I wish I could become one in the game. There are not even any mods to become a hagraven.
Dude I love your videos, you've done great research and you've answered a ton of questions I've had pop up in my head whilst roaming around the rim. It really makes me want to get back to my role playing save file and take in the lore a lot more than I usually do. I'm generally the type of player to go for min/max and collecting all the unique gear so it's a nice perspective that just gives the game even more replay value. :3 Keep up the great work man!
Slyceth Zero backstory, now that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard someone say about the Elder Scrolls. Read the lore! There's more backstory about the creation of Nirn than Undertale will ever have! Also, yes Skyrim has very few emotional points in it, but I've played that game so many times that I know everything about it. And I can tell you that, without any dought in my mind, that some of Skyrim's secret stories that you're never told about by any ingame character have just as much emotional value as Undertale's! Saying that Skyrim has no backstory is just stupid to say, and shows how ignorant you are to make assumptions without learning the whole story.
I think there's a book in skyrim about a women who got banished from her village and lived in the forest alone cursing the village and she slowly turned int a hagraven.
I've been watching your videos for awhile now, but never subscribed. Like a creepy old man watchin a high school when the final bell rings. Today, today I have subscribed. Thank you for your videos good sir
+juamont I would love a remastered version of this phenomenal game. I truly hope that if they did revive this beautiful game, and added new DLC, they would make so much money and on top of that everyone would be able to experience this game.
been looking forward to one of these rambling vids for quite some time. doesnt matter what you ramble about as long as its fantasy related just keep it up man love your shit dude
It would make sense hags and witches don't let outsiders know the ritual, to preserve their powers from letting anyone else get them. And I would assume, since hags are always older than witches, I'm assuming after decades of serving in the coven, and you reach that age, and thus become a hag, and you prove yourself, you can go through the process to become a Hagraven. I guess Briarhearts are the male "equivalent" to a Hagraven, since they're always males as Hagravens are always female. Maybe it's all just ancient magicks lost to only Forsworn and covens from warped nature. Specifically in Skyrim, since neither are seen anywhere else (for all I know). Warped nature, and that's why Spriggans and the like try and defend nature from those that try and warp it for their personal gains.
Thank you for this video. I've been modding my game for hours on end trying to get the graphics just right and you've reminded me of how important the story and lore are. :)
+Tim0thyCH They do. However, you cannot actually join the Forsworn to try and take back the Reach. The quest revolves more around the Silver Bloods agenda rather than realizing Forsworn goals. It was a taste, but not a meal. The Forsworn were such a big part of Skyrim and there was no significant questline giving you the option to join or destroy them.
+Seth Rios "It was a taste, but not a meal." That was good, did you make that up yourself or did you find it somewhere else? I am legitimately curious.
+Seth Rios True. I guess you technically join them if you follow Madanach, but they don't do anything other than scream "The Reach will be ours again!". But yes, you are correct and I agree, I do think they should have added Forsworn quests.
I need to go look up some Elder Scrolls stuff. I hate the fact I have little idea what you're talking about. I understand a good portion, but I want to know more. I am quickly understanding why TES became one of the best franchises in gaming history.
I can't believe how much u know it about ETS and Skyrim and I remember watching your videos at a machinima:D and I loved it and u are still making interesting videos which make me really happy keep it up c:
hey, maybe perhaps do an episode on the Ideal Masters? Personally I think its fascinating how there is another group that is on par with gods and daedric lords.
I think I have a good idea for a video for you can do. You know the result of staining Elven Arrows with Serana or Valerica's blood and using them with Auriel's Bow. What do you think would happen if the Dragonborn stained his or her blood on Elven Arrows and used Auriel's Bow?
I haven't had skyrim since mid 2014 when I upgraded to the Xbox one from 360, and this video made me tear up, remember the hours, days, months, years of fun, from launch day till the Xbox one was released I played it at least and hour every day, Thanks for the memories Rhexx :')
+YusarisRS www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40607/? Not sure if you ever tried UNDEATH. It's a fun quest mod that is centered around necromancy and lichdom. You can choose to thwart and ultimately destroy a mage who is attempting to transform himself into a lich or you can usurp his place and continue his efforts yourself, ultimately being rewarded with a full lich transformation. From what I understand there's even a few customization endings. (the appearance of your lich form as well as it's new abilities can be influenced by the ways you complete the quests). The lich form is actually somewhat underpowered in my opinion but I play with a lot of OP mods so that might be the reason. One very powerful interaction is you create a phylactery and can retreat to it once per day if you take fatal damage. So it's an effective get out of jail free card and still lore friendly ish.
William Huerta I don't believe it was a full lich. I think he was in the process of becoming a lich and weakened because of his transformation. I'm paraphrasing but the only way to kill a would be lich is by removing their soul container from their person before their soul is fully transferred out of their body. The fable about shattering a soul container is just that a myth. Once fully realized a lich is unable to die but can be destroyed many times if desired. That is because the receptacle holds no inherent value or power once the ritual is complete.
Even though the game is almost five years old, I'm still as in love with it as the first day I stepped off that cart. It's my favorite game (top three) and I just am so in love with it. Voice guide you.
+cai jones This week Skyrim is in the top 20 of games played on steam, for a game of that age it rivals Minecraft. Mods are what keeps games going for so long keeping content fresh.
"dying" dude, do you know how many comments I see on videos asking simple questions anyone whose played 5 minutes of Skyrim could answer? More than you'd think. Not to mention Skyrim remastered.
@MrRhexx I just had an Ephiany! When the moon dissapeared and the elves convinced the Khajit that they were the ones to bring it back and so the elves took credit for it when it happened.... What if it was the Dwemer? What if that is where they all dissapeared to? One of the moons. It would make sense. You should look into this @MrRhexx
I've actually though the same thing about them disappearing to one of the moons or to an oblivion plane. But I never thought that those two incidents could have been connected. But, are they both in the same Era? if they are, you could possibly be correct.
God Rhexx I love your videos so much. I wish something could inspire you to make more, at a more rapid pace xD I listen to them all the time, while playing ESO, while studying, to go to sleep, when I'm bored. I've seen all of your videos, and most of them twice or three times. Your video about Vaermina is incredible, in particular. Thanks man.
Bretons were in skyrim after the overtake of high rock against each other and the high elves. After the Nords falsely attacked the Bretons who they thought they were fighting Altmers(High Elf) the Bretons took the reach or should I say emmigrate to the reach. The Bretons and Nords that lived in the Reach became Forsworns but not all follow the cult. That is why the battles between Nords and Bretons vs Forsworn(same races different cult) had the involvment of Hagravens because they knew they would loose without powerful magic. But due to some Breton women becoming Hagravens it lead to speculation and is highly theorise that the Nords and Bretons who fought against Tiber Septim in the early campaign for a unify Empire, betrayed the Bretons due to their magics and speculation of a Forsworn spy within the commanders of the Bretons. So most likely Bretons have the high intention of magic and seem to be the only race to be allied or partners with the Daedric while other races are under the Daedric commands or they are just worshipers.
+DeadlyGreed The thing is: Hagraven soul is not black soul. Their soul size is only common. I would say they may have tricked. By using their soul in exchange for the magic...
What I want to know is what's up with the dragon statues made of deer bones that are so common in Hagraven and Forsworn homes? (There's a good example 13 minutes in.) Is there some connection between the Reach's folklore and the Dragon Cult?
what did you do, listen to that statement and stop the video? cause literally seconds later be begins answering that and that's what the entire video is about, lmao
Can you do a video on Olaf one-eye? Ive always been confused about him as sometimes hes referred to as a hero and shows up in sovengaurd but at the same time in the bard quest line hes considered evil and you have to fight him in Draugr form. Which is he, good or bad?
You should make a video about all the different types of vampire blood lines across Tamriel. I have yet to see a video by anyone that really goes into these bloodlines, some people don't even know half of them exist so it would be a good topic.
Most of the time when you see a hagraven they are near a shrine of Hirecine, it makes sense too because they do become part beast bird thing.
+Geekzilla wanabe werehawks lol
+Dorky Dragon were-vultures*, were-hawks aren't a thing, and hagravens seem to be closer to vultures than hawks, or ravens, which is ironic because their name suggests that they should be closer to ravens. But I guess hag-vulture doesn't sound as good as hagraven
+Ethan Quirk (QuirkyJ282) damn, you know more lore than there is on the uesp
Well i was wrong, theyre werefalcons and they live in valenwood
Geekzilla That's what I thought cuz plus like forsworn hunt a lot based on their armor and the hagravens are beasts.
"If you kill a nymph & use her heart, what would you become?". A murderer. You would be a murderer.
+Josh Roberts touche
+MrRhexx have u ever thought of doing builds or another lets play
+Josh Roberts well damn 😂
+Josh Roberts
Or An Adventurer.
Nymphs can be murderers too.
Their loot tells the story
+A skeleton With High Standards true
For those interested, in ESO it seems that briarhearts are grown from people. The hagravens would plant briarheart seeds into a dead person, and the tree would grow using the person as fertilizer. Whether that is actually canon or not i don't know :O
Everything in ESO is canon i think
+Kristin yeah i know. it is because they work with a loremaster over at zos and one at bethesda. too much salt is bad for you though :P
+MrRhexx I am pretty sure That Briarheart seeds definitely are from a daedric world
can you guys please explain to me something
If someone dies by selling his soul to Lorkhan he goes to Sovngard
If someone sells his soul to a Daedra he goes to the Daedra's Rhelm of Oblivion
Then What about an atheist like Brignjolf of the thieves guild? If he did not became a nightingale where would his soul go ?
***** So the soul stay in Nirn ? Or are you assuming ?
Q: "What are the Hagravens?"
A: "Fuckin gross."
B. Weak to Breton's C. Both (I'll give you a hint, it's C.)
*Bretons (Damn autocorrect)

+MickMaan Not me. Sprigans are scary, mate.
+MickMaan I tried clearing a giant camp on level one...
Nameless Outsider Lol yeah i tried talking to them
+MickMaan I did, and I choose not to harm the Eldergleam...
5 years and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is still relevant. THATS how great this game is.
Year late, but hey...smarticles and all that
That's how great the Elder Scrolls lore is. Without mods, everyone would be bored of Skyrim in like, the first few days of owning it.
I put at least a thousand hours into it without mods because I was on the xbox lol.
Actual Pain Too bad we'll likely never get a new Elder Scrolls title - at least not any time soon - since Bethesda LOVES milking the living shit out of Skyrim.
Maybe because they we haven't had a new game in those years
It's not just skyrim but rather series.
Talk about wisp mothers.
There's not a lot of info about where they come from or what they are, but I'd like to know what you think
yaaas
I was about to say that, oh well
+lieven Van loo There is a book about Wispmother in Skyrim.
elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/The_Wispmother
+Cthulhu The Fabulous 0_o
Aw yeah! One on wisp mothers would be really cool! If i remember correctly i think he did a Skyrim Lore(Secrets) on wisp mothers but not sure...
You know, I've always been fascinated by the Giants. They apparently have their own culture, but, TES has never gone into them before.
*_GIANTS_*
+Cielo Pachirisu Though I am no giant, I do have a giant surprise in my pants for you!

I am quickly understanding why TES became one of the best franchises in gaming history.
I'm a huge Elder Scrolls fan and I love your videos. They are informative and ask some great questions! Keep it up and thank you!
All hail mighty talos another skyrim video.
Above DOT EXE Same. Honestly I don't even know what they are, i just know they can control durneviir and the soul cairn.
lol you're so into this and passionate about the lore and I love it. You've earned a subscription
maybe nymphs are just like hagravens, but they infused themselves with powers of taproot instead of power from human sacrifice.
what you do with the music and how you speak and what you show is just brilliant
I think I have a good idea for a video for you can do. You know the result of staining Elven Arrows with Serana or Valerica's blood and using them with Auriel's Bow. What do you think would happen if the Dragonborn stained his or her blood on Elven Arrows and used Auriel's Bow?
I love your voice, your dialogue and your music. Im not sure why but it just works, keep it up!
omg 5 months later briar hearts are dragonfruit
I love when you make videos about The Elder Scrolls Keep it up your doing great 😂
If taproots work similarly to briarhearts.... will pick pocketing a taproot from a spriggan kill it?
You cant pickpocket enemys
Yeah, but if you COULD, would it work?
I suppose, if you could pickpocket human hearts from people would that kill them?
True dat
AYYY lmao yes u can turn into a vampire and cast hypnosis, they then have dialogue, sneak pickpocket.
I sure did enjoy, You should make more of that stuff before i feel like rewatching the old stuff.
10:28 Anyone else yelling "JUMP!" at the screen right now?
+StarCrush27 ...guilty
i remember in one of my playtrough i jumped (i think it was from there ) And a spirit of a guy who jumped once appeared
StarCrush27 if you survive the jump you actually get something
Creeping at a Hagraven's legs isn't something that I would expect Rhexx would do...
hagravens are when mother-in-laws hatch.
I need to watch some of your LorePlay videos. I usually have a video of yours running while I play Skyrim, so I'll try that next time!
Hagravens are really cool creatures, you lost me mate
+Sunny Price
If they aren't trying to cut your heart out or burn your face off they're pretty interesting.
I haven't had skyrim since mid 2014 when I upgraded to the Xbox one from 360, and this video made me tear up, remember the hours, days, months, years of fun, from launch day till the Xbox one was released I played it at least and hour every day, Thanks for the memories Rhexx :')
Can you talk a bit about wispmothers?
thx for still doing skyrim bro your probly one of my favorite youtubers.
Wish u could become a Hagraven. That would be epic
and dangerous
Nocturnal Siren i bet there is a mod for this
Nocturnal Siren And move 1m per hour.
These Skyrim videos are so well made! Great job! :D
Elder scrolls in general. 😑
Hagravens are bitches to fight on low levels-
I can't remember how many times I was killed on the Gildergreen quest by one
***** They weren't for me XD So much rage quitting...
+Mannimarco Well if you play on Novice - adept, of course.
I use sneak and Spellbreaker to pwn them.
what happened to the gildergreen is a travesty......
Thanks for letting me know that that song, Music For Manatees, exists. It's beautiful. Coincidentally, it matches perfectly with the Skyrim universe.
Imagine if you could actually do the ritual to become hagraven in elder scrolls 6.
+naksurousku Eeew.
Well, in Oblivion, you can kill a man who is trying to become a Lich by killing his soul tether (hourglass), so yeah, that's Canon.
That is because the receptacle holds no inherent value or power once the ritual is complete.
joemama114 Huh, so The Elderscrolls doesn't go by DnD logic? Also, yeah, but that's a half way point, the next step is ritualistic suicide.
A hagraven is a grandma who forgot to shave
Hmm. So if a Hagraven was blonde, would that mean that she was a Nord originally?
+Nanien probably yes
+Victor. So many possibilities!
+Nanien She could be an altmer
+Victor. Yeah, but it was just an example. Thanks, though.
+Victor. than that would be a very ugly hagraven with all kinds of stds
Even though the game is almost five years old, I'm still as in love with it as the first day I stepped off that cart. It's my favorite game (top three) and I just am so in love with it. Voice guide you.
so sad that skyrim is dying, in my opinion it's one of the best games of all time, even ugly crow bitches have an amazing story behind them.
Elder scrolls games don't "die," till the next esg comes out, but despite that people still play the "elder," games a lot.
+cai jones I still play Skyrim a shit ton but I play a lot more on PC with mods now
+cai jones This week Skyrim is in the top 20 of games played on steam, for a game of that age it rivals Minecraft. Mods are what keeps games going for so long keeping content fresh.
skyrim remastered the hype
"dying" dude, do you know how many comments I see on videos asking simple questions anyone whose played 5 minutes of Skyrim could answer? More than you'd think. Not to mention Skyrim remastered.
I love these videos , please make more!
Thanks man.
Oh, I was a Breton at the time.
Derrick Bonsell i was a Nord which the Forsworn are Nord Breton hybrids
The last time I came this early, I became a father.
Well then...
Same
OH MAN WHAT A HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL COMMENT THAT I'VE NEVER SEEN A MILLION FUCKING TIMES BEFORE!! HOW GREAT!
+Cool Guy Cool story bro
+Highest Emperor VII Akin thats a dead meme dont use it its really cancerous
I loved the background music that you used. It's very relaxing :)
if there has to be a humanoid to be sacrificed couldn't you specify what you need is BLACK soulgem?
falmer don't get caught in black soul gems and they are humanoid
Cheryl Mille why wouldn't they? they are vampires aren't they?
+DeadlyGreed nope. they are snow elves whom spent years and caves, thus they changed.
so no, they are not vampires
+DeadlyGreed The thing is: Hagraven soul is not black soul. Their soul size is only common.
I would say they may have tricked. By using their soul in exchange for the magic...
+DeadlyGreed no they are not vampires they are snow elves
As you can see through the questline of the Companions, the Hagravens are woman that a pact with Hircine to get more power a long time ago.
:/ im early... i have to tell a joke...
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
call of duty 1
Funny 👌🏽
Terrible joke because there is new one now XD
thank you for this amazing in depth video, I was genuinely hooked :D
Man I haven't played Skyrim in a while.
Go play it 😃
What I want to know is what's up with the dragon statues made of deer bones that are so common in Hagraven and Forsworn homes? (There's a good example 13 minutes in.) Is there some connection between the Reach's folklore and the Dragon Cult?
so a hagraven is like a lich, except not as cool
Monfe I'd Prefer to be a Lich
My god your videos are so calming
"Hagravens are really cool creatures in the world of elder scrolls"
But... why?
what did you do, listen to that statement and stop the video? cause literally seconds later be begins answering that and that's what the entire video is about, lmao
+L Takara You can't expect everyone to have a minimal amount of intelligence and common sense.
Nice video! Keep going. I love the elder scrools lore
Melisandre.
+Kha Lee My thought exactly!
Can you do a video on Olaf one-eye? Ive always been confused about him as sometimes hes referred to as a hero and shows up in sovengaurd but at the same time in the bard quest line hes considered evil and you have to fight him in Draugr form. Which is he, good or bad?
Skyrim came out 5 years ago yet I still play it on occassion.. what a masterpiece.
If you look into the Elder Scrolls Online, there is some more explanation about the briarhearts and the Hagravens.
what music did you use for this, it's beautiful. Great video btw :-)
Another great theory, keep up the fantastic work!
Can you cover skeevers? Skyrim’s most fearsome enemies?
You should make a video about all the different types of vampire blood lines across Tamriel. I have yet to see a video by anyone that really goes into these bloodlines, some people don't even know half of them exist so it would be a good topic.
I love Skyrim so much, they did such a good job. Like you said, I can't wait for the next elder scrolls.
Will you make some ESO videos?
