Skills have always been a big part of fire emblem, or at least in the games that have skills, and fates is no different, especially with all the brand new skills exclusive to fire emblem fates. And today, we’re going to be counting down my favourite skills in the game!

The reason Hoshido has so many broken skills is just to make Birthright even more painfully easy than it already is.
But it in turn makes it harder for Nohr...(doesn't change the easy route for Hosido though...)

Except not every enemy has their classes skills in Nohr.
But Nohr has Luna, which is cool. Ok, there aren't that many Nohrian skills that are SUPER DUPER AMAZING! But they do have the awesomeness that is Velouria and Beserkers.

Whaat? Effie is fast af. The only thing that slows her down is her class, her *personal* speed growth is actually one of the highest in the game.
Effie deserved better ! A personal speed growth of 50 % in a 0-5% speed growth class smh why fates why !?
Changing her into a Dread Fighter gives her the exact same speed growth as Swordmaster!Ryoma, with a ton more levels to go. And that with Dread Fighter still being a little bit slower than Swordmaster. Dread Fighter also allows her to compensate her only real weak spot, which is RESistance.
Her HP is a bit low, but that is fates in general.

its basicly that but alot sillier and to make it even worse you can add replicate to either play hot potato with more than one person or just make a really big lunge train XD
Swordfaire, Astra, Awakening, Draconix hex * whatever on a Speedboosted Swordmaster Female Corrin at speed and luck cap, paired up with jacob gives you dodge itself that can only be hit by Anankos after awakening activates. It also weakens enemies it can't kill because of range. .
You forgot saizo
foxy foxfox that is, assuming you survive one hit. And there are MANY ways to prevent that. All dodge bonus can be disabled with Certain Blow, especially with Takumi...
10:09 also azura's replica can't sing so you can't just grind crazy by making the azura's keep sing for each other
Do a top 10 most annoying skills on enemies. Mine includes Wary Fighter, Counter, Poison Strike, and Lunge.
Add Savage Blow to that list.

Sam Richardson I usually just have some weaker units standing on the closer ninja spawn forts by the time they spawn on the closer ones, and I usually have two more units on the northern forts before their are four ninjas on the map. After that, either the RNG is on my side and my fifth unit kills the boss, or goddamn Frederick one-shots him, because Fredrick is synonymous with Experience Thief.
In my opinion, why I believe Kamui's personality is excusable but Kirito's isn't is the very nature of the media they appear in. With Kamui being customizable it makes more sense to make them the self insert fantasy wish fulfillment machine as apposed to SAO's Kirito whom feels more like the creator's self insert fantasy wish fulfillment machine. In Fates the blanks are better filled in through your own mind because you're the main character.

PKSlowpoke same. although I do use those skill, I usually have only one unit with each cause I try to have diverse skill sets
12:45 to clear this up, it's actually 50% of the user's atk stat.
What that means is if you have 40 atk, and the unit would hit that general for 2 damage, when dragon fang triggers that general will eat 22 damage. NOT 3.
Dragon fang is quite literally the best attack trigger skill since aether and astra, and completely shits on luna.

Charlotte berserker death blow forged great club = 100% crit rate when initiating and 85% crit rate when countering.
+chichinitz Charlotte is the best! She crits almost all the time and she decimates female units especially maids and falcon Knights.

+Benjamin Shaul I love Charlotte. She's an awesome unit and character. Her low Def and Res sucks along with her hit rate in the beginning, but if you have her clean up units and unequip "gamble" then by the time she's a Berserker, she's self-sufficient. She was the first unit that I got to lvl 99 and to get max stats (except magic). I respect your opinion, but Charlotte needs more love.
+chichinitz I see why u like her but she is a gold digger and not a good person even if she has good intentions. The only support conversations I liked from her was Xander's. I never did un equip gamble so that's probably why her hit never got above 40%

thanks very much, and regard your question, once I get a capture card I plan to make a let's play channel and do let's plays, obviously fire emblem will be the first ones I do and I will play every fire emblem game with perma-death, hell in the older games perma-death is the only option.
Oh good, can't wait for that :) Sick of watching FE playthroughs on youtube cos everyone of them plays Classic Mode and resets whenever someone dies and then I'm just sitting there like you're totally destroying the point of the game and there's a casual mode for a reason!! Ooh I see why you ignored Kidnap and Capture... I hope Sophie's skill is there not because I like lowered defence but I like changing character models even if it is in an abnormally perverted way.

Nohrian trust is pretty great. Once i was fighting Anankos with Corrin paired up with Kaze and Corrin used Lethality on Anankos. I was very confused for a while.
It's a shame Lethality doesn't tack on any extra damage, or anything like that. Stupid Dragonskin...
It was Anankos first phase so Lethality actually did kill him in one shot. I doubt it'd work ob second phase though.

Omg! I came up with how to get the Summoner class in Fates!
Step 1: Get someone who is the Onmyoji class
Step 2: Have them have the duplicate skill
Step 3: Arm them with scrolls
Step 4: Enjoy! :3
I like Lifetaker, it lets you make moves with Dark Knights that would leave them severely crippled, but kill an enemy, while also gaining back half your health, it's also fun to get it on other units like Generals and the like to let them solo entire battalions with ease. I remember doing hard mode Conquest and soloing the entire map as a Dark Knight Corrin with this skill (and a bit of luck).
This is actually a pretty interesting insight.

Corrin getting number 1, i can't believe it, next thing you know I'll be voicing Lyon in the Sacred Stones remake.
well warp was always broken, whether its a staff or a skill. just watch DD151's FE 5, FE 6 and especially FE 11 0% growths playthough, the endgame is pretty much dictated by the various ways you can abuse warp.
It also doesn't help that the LP is just bloody amazing since he can complete the entire game without losing a single unit, with each unit having all of their growths reduced to zero and still manage to finish each chapter within 5-10 turns.

I really like the Oni Savage skills, but I never get to use them, since I haven't used Rinkah before, and the only time I had an Oni Savage was when I reclassed Hinata into one. Oni Savage is a really cool class to, as it is kinda like a bulky fighter. If only there were more.

I like this list, My Favorite Skill is Life and Death given to the Masters of Arms class it really worked for picking off last enemy's. I really like the fact that no matter what, you WILL get 10 damage even if your regular state can't inflict any damage at all.
I have to say, Elbow Room is a pretty sweet skill. Cavaliers can get it at base level and open areas are like 80% of the game which means free +3 instant damage.

It's important to note that Dragon Fang isn't a 50% boost to damage: it's actually adds 50% of your *attack* stat, IE how much damage you would do without enemy armor. IE, it's even better than a 50% increase because it ignores armor entirely. You could change a 1 damage attack into a 30 damage attack with the right circumstances.
HyperLuigi Agreed. It's one of the reasons Dragon Fang is so good late game, as so many units have high Defense and Resistance.

Can Lunge work on stationary enemies?
My favourites are Nohrian Trust and Hoshidan Union. Combined, and with a defense partner tailor-loaded with offensive skills, Corrin is unstoppable. My prefered combo is with an S ranked Silas with: Defender, Astra, Luna/Aether, Lethality and Replicate. My Corrin has herself Hoshidan Union, Nohrian Trust, Vantage, Replicate and Dragon Fang. With 32 Hab, the chance of no one ability triggering is really low. And that is assuming the Yato or Dragonstone don't already kill the opponent. Get too low on health? Switch to Silas, his skill activates, and he will take so low damage Aether will heal everything he takes. Replicate is just there to have two broken pair ups for the price of one. I'll probably change Vantage and both Replicate to Rend Heaven or Countermagic and Regenerator for Corrin and Warp for Silas. Really, I can't recall the last time the enemy did even hit me... Where is the point of an ability that never activates?
mine is dragonic hex and hoshidan unity when put together its so broken
I did one with Selkie and Hisame. I had Selkie with Hoshidan Unity, Nohrian Trust, Dragon Fang, Vantage and Awakening, while I have Hisame in the back with Astra, Rend Heaven, Dual Guard + from Lodestar, Aether and Lethality.
What about Hoshidian unity and quixotic?
Thing is, Nohrian Trust doesn't have to be situational. You load up your spouse with trigger skills, and stay in pair up...Forever.
It's in my "How to never die ever" skillset. Corrin:Renewal, Lifetaker, Hoshidian Unity, Nohrian Trust, (Skill of your choice, I use Draconic Hex, and occasionally switch for Warp) Spouce: Aether, Sol, Pavise, Aigis, and Luna, Dragon Fang or Rend Heaven. I use the +Skill boon, and I've soloed entire Maps with this setup. I usually have the beastgirls as spouces, cause Selkie helps Avo, and Velouria helps Tank.

Yes, multi-hit proc skills like Aether and Astra will trigger, as the multiple hits all occur in the same attack. Wary Fighter also will not cancel the two hits from Brave weapons since they attack twice for every single attack. Hope that helps!

tbh I think Lunge has GREAT potential, especially on wifi battles, so I'm glad it was mentioned...do your favorite character a favor and make your tertiary class Dragon so they get both lunge and savage blow via partner seal guys. and also trample who is quite situational but still useful
I know DLC Skills and Skills from previous games don't count on this list, but Aether is probably my favorite activation skill in Fates, and really, the whole series. (Though it's probably tied with Pavise.)
Yes, it only has a Skill stat x 0.5 chance of activation, as opposed to Sol and Luna seperately, which has a Skill stat chance, but the two consecutive attacks REALLY help at times, and it's both a healing skill and a damaging skill at the same time.

Just today I found a midori who had a Dragon fang I'm not sure if it's either Hacking or inheritance. But in the back of my head it's hacking because the midori didn't have dragon blood so yeah. Is it hacking or inheritage. Please help me out
Midori can inherit the skill from an avatar who is her mother. You can also buy Dragon Fang on anyone. Therefore you can end up with dragon fang on all your child characters if you buy it from other child characters who have one parent be an avatar.

my favourite skill is heart seeker.
In conquest, you have many... many dodgy enemies, but heart seeker takes -20 avoid, when the unit stand next to the enemy. this alone is great, but the best is, it will also help the other units hit them with a higher accured, so kogha or any other on the throne get their ass kicked. the downside is, when you can't kill the boss or enemy, the dark mages or leo have a risk to get crushed, but the skill is a must have in conquest
Sacred Stones Summoner had a different niche than Mechanist altogether. The Mechanist’s Replicate increases damage output while risking the life of the unit a bit more, but the Summoner’s phantoms were there to draw aggro away from the main group, being effectively completely disposable. That could help defend a weak ally from an otherwise fatal blow, or hit a well defended glass cannon with a small nuke that you knew was getting absolutely murdered after that attack.
The problem his Draconic Hex is that in order to use it, you aren't ORKOing your enemy. That's hardly a good strategy to play around.
great list but you got one thing wrong, dragon fang rarely activates. i've gotten to chapter 20 and it's only activated once.

Dragon Fang usually activates every third or fourth attack.
On the Dragon Fang part, you forgot to mention how the 50% bonus damage it does is half of your attack power, not half the damage you do to the unit

Live to Serve works well with all healers. Yes, it's usefulness fades later on when you can better guard the healers/have more.
IMO, in Revelation, Corrin is powerful in Revelation if you cross class the two noble classes.

I have a personal like for Poison Strike and Dragon Ward.
Poison Strike being a major advantage for me when using my ninja's, including the amazing mage killer himself Kaze, making him more OP in my army than he already is.
I also found Dragon Ward to be helpful too, especially after my children inherited it too.
And of course who doesn't love Astra? Though it's not a Fates exclusive :P
I'll also include Dragon Fang in there too! Incredibly useful!

you know which skills is better than 75% of this list? Nohrian Trust, that allows you to use the mentioned 75% from this list, yet better if you get some of those 75% skill on Kaze and use him as support unit only, you will in the end create 1.5 man killing army with character that had 11 skills! (Kazes personal works like Miracle for supported unit, you can put some really life saving skills on Kaze or activable skills on Kaze and stat boosting or some neat skills on the main unit and get a god to play as, especialy if you breed a child for that one purpose)
wonder if anyone has tried making a Tank Corrin with a very Defense/Resist/HP Focused Stats

i would say your number 1 was pretty good but id also put hoshido unity in there because 10% increase to skill activation is great as well and makes corrin so broken when you play in revelations because it also can work on the nohrian skills
Hoshidan unity is pretty bad skill, 10% isn't gonna make skill activation reliable, you better pick a better and easier skill to get like Elbow room, lunge, swap, shelter, Strength+2 Etc.
I still think that the seal skills should only activate if you initiate a battle.
The Nohrian Trust skill is actually completely broken if used properly. It effectively gives the character an extra 4 skill slots (since one of the five is basically replacing the one Nohrian Trus takes)
This means you have can the pair up unit run Pavise, Aegis, and three offensive activatable skills, while Corrin can run all the good passive skills like Vantage, Hoshido Unity, etc.
Also, Wary Fighter is actually good characters who are not knights if they are going to be using weapons that can't double. Like Corrin if you want to focus on your dragon stone (so Dragon Tank builds) or a Nosferatu using sorcerers.
In fact, in one playthrough I did both those things. I had a dragon tank Corrin who was running Nohrian Trust, Hoshido Unity, Quixotic, Vantage, and Wary Fighter with a pair-up support partner with Aether, Sol, Pavise, Aegis, and Miracle.
TheWerdna I've done something similar with my unit logbook. I have a Selkie with Hoshidan Unity, Nohrian Trust, Awakening, Aether and Miracle and a Hisame with Sol, Luna, Astra, Dragon Fang and Dual Guardsman.
My set on Corrin is Quixotic, Hoshidan Unity, Aether, Astra and Lethality. On a skill boon luck bane Corrin. I constantly activate Lethality because of this. And if it isn’t Lethality, it’s Astra. I very rarely activate Aether though.
so... when will "inevitable end" come out again? :D

Kind of related, but anyone has Nina and Kiragi skills? I really need some for them.
I know you love to reference how hard Radiant Dawn is, but I recently heard something interesting. Apparently when Radiant Dawn was being translated the difficulties were mixed up. Our Easy mode was originally Normal mode and our Normal mode was originally Hard mode. So assuming you play every FE game on Normal mode, like you yourself said, that means you've actually been playing on Hard mode all this time.
I knew about the difficult setting being swapped around and yes I do play it on normal mode (aka hard mode), but regardless of difficult radiant dawn is the hardest fire emblem game I've played based on structure and level design, since in part 1 the units you get and under-leveled and under-powered, and in part 2 your team in incredibly small and you have to fight a ridiculous amount of enemies, not to mention you're constantly jumping between teams, so trying use and train certain units is much more difficult compared to other games.

Okay, I'm just making sure that you're not calling it hard because of a mistranslation.
On the topic of mistranslations, I noticed that you tend to bash the Chrom and Sumia supports in Awakening. It wasn't originally all about pie, apparently the translation just made a bad choice. Only one of the supports was supposed to mention pie, but unfortunately they decided to take that joke way to far. And every other support conversation that has a pie joke didn't originally have pie in it.
Have you not heard of a heart seal? Promote Beruka to malig knight to get savage blow, then heart seal into whyvern lord.
Ah yes the Blow skills. Armored Blow, Warding Blow, Death Blow, Duelist Blow, Darting Blow, Certain Blow, Savage Blow and the ultimate Blow skill of all...

If only there was a legal way to get Staff Savant and Inevitable End, those two would be truly atop the list because they'd be unbelievably broken in the player's hands.

Was hoping my favorite skill would be #1! It's the main reason I've never gone Hoshido Noble in Revelations.
Here's my personal list
1) Shelter: Let's you get 2 dances one player phase. Nuff said
2) Heartseeker: You wouldn't believe the amount of utility this has in lunatic. Makes easier captures, lets you negate throne avoid bonuses, allows you to debuff the crap out of a powerful or paired up enemy, etc.
3) Elbow Room: A great damage skill that comes very early.
4) Trample: Another fantastic damage skill
5) Inspiring Song: helps get over many doubling (therefore ORKOing)
6) Any rally: stat stacking is huge in fates so why not make it even better?
7) Malefic Aura: great AOE skill for magic (and if i hear 1 more person say "fates magic sucks" i will literally go on a riot)
8) Defender: You never know when those extra stats come in handy
9) Lifetaker: Comes late but really helps survivability
10) Lunge: limited use but extremely helpful. Disrupting unit positions can really be helpful even if it is somewhat niche
I guess I’m not a skill person, namely because I grew up on Shadow Dragon. Dragon Fang on Corrin or their kid is amazing and it’s almost an unfair advantage. I also like the Witch skill of Brew because the potions are useful.

I don't like replicate at all because the clone shares the hp with the original character... Doesn't make sense to me, that your character dies when your clone dies...
Karpfador Here's what I do, I put the replica Azama in the back not to fight. If the original gets damaged, the replica can use a concoction or psychic to heal itself, and since they share hit points, the one fighting will get healed as well. Also if the original is out of range of the replica and needs further healing after the use of a concoction, Flora or Jakob or someone else can heal up the replica. My Azama a high luck stat and also has lucktaker and miracle, so he survives with 1 hp a lot and needs healing

I mean... How else would they keep something like that from getting overly broken? Nakes sense to me from a game balancing standpoint

The only flaw with Wary Fighter is that Brave/Crescent weapons can still follow up.
When I first played Awakening I thought that maybe you could trigger Lethality during Astra. Wasn't surprised when I found out it couldn't. Imagine how OP that could be? lol
Skill is used to proc both, so you only need a good Skill stat to have a guaranteed kill chance
It would be even worse with quixotic and hoshidan unity. Oh, and use a brave weapon, just to make your opponent's life a living nightmare
You mean like Mareeta can proc Astra and Luna at the same time?
Except Mareeta joins slightly worse than Shiva, who joins ~5 chapters earlier. And she doesn't even get Astra until ch15

Honestly, my Effie doesn't need Wary Fighter, but it helps. I say this mostly because she always tends to 1 shot enemies.
I'm in the middle of a Sacred Stones run, and ironically, Amelia is pretty fast, even though I made her a knight. 14 speed at level 10 knight. Thats pretty good
With the Wary Fighter, another general that it'd suck on is Meg. I'd hate that, because Meg is my BEST unit in Radiant Dawn. She's AMAZING if you get 1 or 2 Dracoshields or Energy Drops. Give her a chance sometime, she rivaled Gatrie, Haar, and Shinon.
MEG IS AMAZING! If you give her the right level ups and train her right she can become a BOSS. Brom and Gatrie are still amazing but Meg can give them a run for their money.

You just explained why Meg is bad. She takes valuable DB Exp away from other units that would use it better, like Jill, Nolan, Edward and, like, literally everyone else
How could you not put Hoshidan Unity on this list? It adds 10% chance to the character's other skills activating. You can combine this with the Lethality skill to increase your chance of inflicting a 1 hit kill on the enemy!
Ignatius actually has pretty decent Speed, even when I paired Benny up with Effie!
