I find that the game itself hints at what classes you should reclass the villagers through exploration of Ram Village. There is a slashed wooden fence by the entrance as well as a stray arrow. Upon examing the fence Alm will remark that Gray and Alm may have gotten carried away with sword practice (swords are only available to gray as a mercenary). Upon examing the arrow Alm will remark that Tobin must've been using the area for archery practice, this implies that Tobin has a background with archery and it would be wise to make him an archer. If you examine some a scorch mark on Mycen's house Alm will state that Kliff scorched the wall with a fire spell. This is the first spell most if not all mages learn. Lastly speaking with Faye she will ask Alm if he was hurt during training and if he has any bruises. I translate this as she wants to make sure he's unhurt/heal him, therefore, supporting the cleric promotion for Faye.
Alexander Hone I saw all of those, took the hint to make Kliff a mage and glad I did, as well as made Faye a cleric so that Silque can stop dying every turn. But I kinda just went "screw that" with Tobin and Gray, making them a Cavalier and Archer respectively. It just looked right. Also, maybe I just got really lucky on stat growths, but Tobin ended up being both fast and tanky. And a hard hitter.
Am I the only one who promotes based on looks? Everyone's mostly like "Oh these stats are good." But I'm like, "I can picture Shiro as an archer. Yeah, let's do that!"
There are definitely times where I would make a unit a certain class because they just don't seem right as something else. Except for Caesar in FE11, made him a Dark mage. That was fun :)
That's the thing tho, Tobin just naturally looks like a Archer and Kliff a bookworm Mage. Gray looks like he'd love to rough it up up close and personal. Atlas tho, he actually does look legitely like a Fighter, but sadly we have no Fighters in Gaiden/Echoes. Faye just suits the archer role as well like in heroes, but sadly she can't really be one.
I know! What type of inconsistency provokes such a change in her abilities in the game? I'm pretty sure she didn't exist in Gaiden beforehand, so I'm not quite sure why it's not possible...
Faye as a cleric is good for one reason: Silque. With TWO healers, you can play 'pass the hit point' with them. Think the bard train, but with healers. 1:Take damage. 2:Heal the damaged unit with Faye. This will deal 1 damage to Faye. 3:Heal Faye with Silque. 4:Run away from the enemies. 5:Continue to the next turn. 6:Repeat steps 2-5 until the healers get max EXP. 7: Congratulations, you now have 2 goddesses on your team.
Andrew Smith Currently at Act 3, before Desaix or Grieth: I gave Silque and Cleric Faye shields (they now have some of the highest DEF in Alm's army). Since Silque can use Warp, I can send a slower-moving unit like Lukas far ahead to tank some hits, then have Faye heal her. I also use that strategy you described, and find having 2 clerics (each with Nosferatu, which is something that I really like about Echoes) to be very helpful.
I did that on my first play through. I prefer having her as a cleric. She has again in the game. I like using her. I am using her as a Pegasus knight instead in my second play through. I am using DLC characters before Act 4
They did showed off the Cipher card images showed Tobin as an Archer and Faye as a Pegasus Knight. Also, I did saw in the Ram Villager exploration mentioned that Alm remembers that Kliff was learning Spells when it accidently got fire on the wall, Tobin was using Arrows, and Gray was using Swords that accidentally chopped on the Fence while he was sword practicing with Alm during in training.
The only bad part about making her a Cleric purely for Again, is that Again takes 24 HP to cast. So you'll basically have to have one of your other healers nearby to recover her as soon as she uses it.
I'm just gonna go with the OG Gaiden strat and go with: Tobin: Archer Grey: Mercenary Kliff: Mage Don't know about Faye, but her Cleric class is enticing.
Tristan Lavictoire-For Gray, Mercenary, because of his speed and skill Tobin-Archer, because of skill. Mage is also good, because he gets excalibur earlier Kilff-He is a little tricky. Mage is actually best. He has a good amount of spells. Faye-Cleric works for her as she is the only one that has the again spell. Atlas-He has good strength and hp. So the mercenary class works for him. Celica has a good amount of mercenaries.
Hahaha I've seen some people saying this before. I guess I could have mentioned the fact that most opt to not really use him. His redesign is so good though...
Oh yeah, I love his new look, it's just a pity everything else is set against him, though based on his looks, he'd make perfect sense as a Conan style Mercenary. lol
I think (this is my personal opinion) they wanted another girl unit in the banner, so they chose Faye instead of Gray/Tobin/Kliff, etc and then they said, "Oh crap, Clair is already a pegasus knight. What do we do" or the fact that they are rather low on gray units overall, thus they did what they did. I think it would have been nice to make her an archer in Echoes too though. Wish they'd've changed that regardless.
Lucky Crit I agree, not sure why they would make archers, of all classes, solely male lol. Regardless I'll probably make her a cleric beacuse she can basically be a dancer, and dancers/bards/songstress are my favorite units in the franchise :)
Lucky Crit Tbh if they were just looking for another grey female unit, I wish they would've picked Silque or Linda( I dont remember her name but the one on celicas route)
I heard they're making many dlc classes for the game. If they decide to actually give an axe wielding class to us, ill give it to atlas. Oh, and can we talk about how Kliff rocks any outfit he wears? lol that black color scheme is great
Yeah honestly I kinda assumed we'd get at least ONE axe unit. Even if it was just Anna or something. Definitely some weird stuff going on with the DLC. Perhaps I'll have to talk about it
I mage Faye a Mage and she became like a magical tank when I got her to Priestess. She's right up in the front with most of the heavy hitters, and almost always ends up with one of the highest kill counts at the end of each round thanks to how many one hit kills she ends up making.
Yeah Faye str is really good. I always maker her a mage, and she can wield a brave sword as Priestess.(Plus being a female mage gives her a base speed of 7)
I ended up making Atlas a Mercenary at first which really fixed his speed and skill. I then did a Dread Fighter loop to get him back to villager and made him an archer. He ended up doubling everything and nothing ever survived him unless their defense was extremely high. Yes it took a bit of grinding, but it was very much worth it in my eyes.
Kliff is an insanely good archer if you're willing to take the time, in the chapter where you need to avoid attacking a girl, but need to attack the man controlling her, my stratagy basically centered around making sure she didn't try to attack Kliff or teleport near him, seriously, he's incredible.
in the prologue when I examined ram village, it canonically told me the class changes. it mentions tobin using arrows, kliff using fire magic, and gray is a freaking hero so i made him a merc. I had a cleric in silque and I had kliff as a mage. so now I'm left with cav and pegknight for faye. you get clive later and matilda as well, so bye cav. having an extra pegknight with claire helps.
Dread fighters seem to be everything killers! They can end up doubling everything even with heavy forged weapons, and with 7 move they speed ahead of non-mounted units. Make all the villagers mercenaries for easy late game.
Next time, after dread fighter; change him into a mage. You think he is bad ass like that? Change him to a mage, give him the dracoshield, and watch him go. Wait until he reaches level 20, before promoting him. But if has only a few stats maxed out, get him back to a mercenary again, and go up to 20 before promoting him each time, then back to villager, and you know what to do from there. It is a pain in the rear, but it is worth the
I've made Atlas an Archer to compliment Leon, and I don't regret it. He does great chip damage on enemies and it keeps him from the front lines. Accuracy is an issue sometimes though, but I think the other pros make up for it.
The Alm ones have canon classes which are hinted at in the village. Kliff has made scorch marks with magic practice, Tobin has shown doing archer practice and Grey is stated to be Alm's sparring partner for sword training.
None of my villagers became the roles you have suggested here, I simply felt it was natural for Tobin to be a Mercenary considering the talks of him fighting for money
Makes sense, that's what's fun though, make them what you want! No worries! Next time around you can make them different which will add a lot of replay value, too!
To weigh in on the Quartet of the starting team, the hints also weigh in from the Point and Click parts in Ram: Tobin and a misplaced arrow, Kliff and a scorched part of Mycen's place, and The damaged fence with Grey... so interesting weight in-game
Yes indeed! Before the game launched we had no idea they were adding in these little hints, however it's definitely a cool little easter egg and I'm glad they snuck that in there for new players!
E C H O E S I find it interesting that you prefer classes that will balance out each villager's weak stats cos I usually do the opposite. I see Kliff's Spd and Skl growth and in my mind he's already a mercenary.
There's not really a right or wrong way to go about it, and multiple save files and multiple playthroughs will allow everyone to try whatever they like, so that's the good part about it. Kliff as a mercenary does sound kinda cool! For the most part I wanted to focus on the classes that will help characters that may need some help in some areas since the growths in this game won't be spectacular. Hope you enjoyed the video regardless though!
When I chose the classes for the villagers I went off what examined throughout town. For instance you'll notice scorch marks outside Mycen's house, left by Kliff. So I thought the game wanted me to build Kliff as a mage. Same for Tobin when it detailed him practicing archery.
If this does well I can definitely see them doing more. I tend to agree with the whole "Echoes is a subtitle" thing and we'll see more remakes under that branding.
LuckyCrit Interestingly enough, we've datamined unused Mov growths that are left in Echoes code that the game still remembers, but all Mov growths are set to 0% and do not get rolled in levelups. Along with the discovery that Mystery of the Emblem's Star Shards(which when held increased a unit's growth rates, a la Crusader Scrolls in Thracia and Class Bands from Tellius) so the fact that pieces of older games are being found buried in Echoes gives me tons of hope on that subject.
Thraciia It can be, but due to the decent base stats of each class as well as the fact that you will get plenty of characters who are rather cemented into a single class, and many made rather powerful in it, means that even if you don't end up with powerful villagers you can still get by just fine.
I promoted based on dialogue when examining the area Lukas shows up. Arrows that Tobin was shooting, slash marks from gray and alm training together, and scorch marks from kliff. I only had to choose a class for Faye
How are Levin swords different than normal swords in echoes? I know in the other games they use Mag rather than Str but here they're combined into one stat so I dont see how Levin swords would work
They have a set damage of 15. To further clarify, it's 15 - the enemy's resistance, so for example, an armor knight would have a res of 1 = 15 - 1 = 14 damage.
I just realized I unintentionally made every villager their OG class, Faye was a Pegasus Knight (sadly her defenses rarely grew) and Atlas a cavalier (hell in the desert stages)
In my first playthrough, I made Cliff was a mage, Tobin was a Archer and Gray a Mercenary because in the first Village there were things like Cliff was testing here fire magic or so. Faye was a Cavalier because I knew that my very first units wouldn't be someone with a horse.
I've beaten this game twice and each time I've made Kliff an archer. Maybe I just got lucky with him but he always had decent speed and skill level ups and his attack and defense were both high on both playthroughs. I can't imagine making him anything else.
I think they needed another gray unit and maybe they didn't really know what to do with her. I think they also wanted some gender diversity within his group/banner too, hence why we didn't see Gray/Kliff/Tobin or someone else in that spot. Yeah, it's weird. I kinda like her as an archer though, which is the sad part. They should have de-gender restricted that class in Echoes!
I just picked the classes they were in the story. To find out their cannon classes, you have to use 'examine' in the village and examine varies structures. You'll learn that Tobin trained with arrows, Kliff trained with fireballs, and Gray used to spar with Alm in the past using _swords_ (so he's a mercenary, the only sword-wielding class). As for Faye, no information is given (I spent several minutes trying finding what her backstory was and got nothing), so I just gave her the role of Pegasus Knight since its the best choice as it has the best mobility.
9:27 This isn't entirely true in FE15 and is one of the slight mechanical changes from the original FE2. Skill and Luck of the caster actually does affects hit rates while using Black Magic, as does the Speed and Luck of the target. However, prior to support bonuses, magical hit CAPS at the base hit of the spell. This isn't very notable though until one encounters very fast enemies, such as the early-game Leather Shield mercenaries, Dread Fighters or Mogalls; that's when one notices that displayed hit rates aren't quite equal to the base hit of the spell. Magical Hit = Spell Base Hit + Floor[(Skill+Luck)/2] Magical Avoid = Floor[(Speed+Luck)/2] Displayed Magical Hit = Min[(Magical Hit - Enemy Magical Avoid), Spell Base Hit] + Support/Skill Effects To be fair, though, this shouldn't change things significantly for where Atlas and his different promo options stand. *Floor: discard anything below the decimal point **Displayed hit is bounded between 0 and 100, inclusive at both ends ***Magical Avoid is explicitly listed on the unit menu while playing a map
Wow. That's fantastic. It's like there's no change at all. Wait.. what's "Floor"? I thought (and I know) that magic hit rates are not effected by terrain bonuses?
2 things i wanna say. 1 is that atlas's accuracy isn't really an issues as an archer as the iron bow has the aiming skill and later into the game the killer bow is really accurate. Also kliff really should have archer as one of his recommended classes as it makes him the least redundant and can fix his strength issues (the one stat that archers actually give)
You need a guide for Vilagers? Here: Kliff - Soldier. Sage is his best option, but with his speed, and the defense/attack boosts of the baron promotions, he will outclass Luka and Force/Forsyth. Robin/Tobin - Archer or Mercinary. Don't ask why, just do it, he's crap everywhere else. Grey - Mage is a good option for him, but you're better off as a mercinary. Only go Mage with Grey if you don't do it with anyone else. Faye - I'm not even going to use her, but if you want to, the best options are Cleric and Pagesus knight. Screw Cavalier - Alm's side has enough of those already. Also, Faye has good defense even as a cleric, so nosferatu tanking is BACK! That''s really all she'll be good for eventually. Atlas - Just like in the original gaiden, Mercinary is his best option. But since you have those out the ass in Celica's side, Making Atlas a mage or Soldier is the best way to go. Factor in the Growths with the class gains. This goes a long way in the deciding team. That's my personal guide/reccomendation for echoes players. You don't need to use a guide, though: Just have fun in the end. Lastly, Speed is not as important as defense in echoes, so don't worry about your physical tanks. Magic? Don't worry about that either. There are items in the game that help your less resistant troops when facing magical enemies. And there are 3 [maps] on both sides, six total, where Resistance actually matters for the entire battle, if not a majority of it. The rest is about defense, and tanking multiple hits from all angles, or dodging them with high speed. Although hitrates are strange in gaiden and probably in echoes too, so Defense>speed EDIT: WOW I was an ahole back then. Most of my points still stand, but Like wow.
Also with the male villagers (and anyone you use the pitchforks on from dlc) you could put them down the mercenary route them promote to myrmidon, then dread fighter because at lvl 10 dread fighters can promote into villagers allowing you to loop for higher stats as well as go into other classes as well
Honestly just realized Atlas is kind of screwed in Celica's route. (This is my opinion so if you feel the need to point something out please do.) 1. He has poor resistance in a route littered with magic users everywhere. 2. He is a villager that is too late into Celica's route which already has units to fill every other role better. 3. His niche is good one but because of the route he is on it screws him over. 4. Cavalier seems good until you get Conrad and knight is a role better filled by Valbar. 5. The only class I believe he can do well with is bow knight but his skill and speed make it really rough to be in. 6. This an extra point but he couldn't do well in Alm's route either because competition is way too tight. The truth is that because of the lack of a class to fit his niche he is stuck in a strange limbo. Honestly thank you @vonithipathachai8449 for helping me realize that had axes been in the game he might have been amazing. (He is in the comments section of this video.)
I went with Gray(Mercenary), Tobin(Archer), Faye(Cleric), and Kliff(Mage). So far these have done great for me,once I get Atlas I plan on making him an Archer but it depends on how my play through goes, if you have any suggestions for Atlas don't hesitate to tell me please. Thanks.
I always have a knack and a soft spot for most hated FE units, whether stats or character, so I'm really happy to see that Tobin now (and in other FE Echoes gameplays) is pulling much more weight than the others, after getting sick of Tobin being treated like a punching bag or meme.
Robin in the original Gaiden was only bad on normal mode. In "easy" mode (arguably how the game should be in the first place...) his subpar bases are accounted for by the fact that he required half as much investment.
I did Grey as a Mercenary, Tobin as an Archer, Kliff as a Mage, Faye as a Cleric and I can't remember what I did with Atlas. That was my first playthrough. I'll be starting a new playthrough to recruit as many as I can. Thank you.
That was a very good and well made video. One thing though, nearly everything you said about Faye's performance in her class options seemed very similar to a write up on Reddit about the subject. Did you use the write up as a basis for your section on Faye? Write up in question. www.reddit.com/r/fireemblem/comments/63b4gw/shadows_of_valentia_question_thread/dfzoigj/
Yeah, for Faye, who we've never had before and can't really compare her to a Gaiden counterpart, I took a look at what others who had begun playing and were more familiar with Gaiden had said about her. That post in particular was helpful since it mentioned multiple options for her. Was it yours? I apologize if it seems I should have altered the script more to have made it unrecognizable, but they were some great points! I credited that user (you?) in the description! Hopefully that's okay, thank you for the further insight if that was your write-up!
Yeah it was me. I'm fine with you using my write up, it just felt like it should have been credited in description since it was so closely worded. But thanks for crediting me in the description and keep up the good content! :)
I credit whenever possible, I actually had you in my notes at the end of the script but unfortunately sometimes when I am typing the video description I forget to add all the credit info, or in this case I missed it. My apologies. Sorry about that but thanks for the excellent info. Glad you liked the outcome :)
Thank you very much. If you ever want more info/analysis about the SoV gameplay you can post a question in the SoV question thread stickied on the sub or dm me on Reddit and I'll be happy to help. Keep up the good content!
That was super useful! Wish I had seen this yesterday before promoting my Faye to a peg knight, Rescue would have been helpful. I'll know for the next playthrough though so thanks :)
That's the cool thing about Echoes, it will definitely be a lot of fun to do a second playthrough of and check out a bunch of other classes for your units :)
I made both Kliff and Tobin mercenaries and I did not regret it one bit. Tobin as a Dread Fighter ended up being the best all-round tank unit, and Kliff was able to double everything with the Lightning sword almost instantly, and was very useful throughout the whole game. I even renamed his sword to "HF Blade" since he reminded me of Raiden from MGS lmao
I just kinda winged it when I first played, and promoted Kliff to a mercenary. As soon as he got his mitts on the lightning sword, he became my best unit on Alm's route, and was only outdone by Boey in the endgame (who I had inadvertently power levelled to the point where he was routinely devouring souls).
8:50 I never had an issue with that. You just fight differently with going slow and steady rather than trying to rush your opponent. I usually go for either another mage to increase my core strength or archer for additional support.
I made Kliff into an archer and he's pretty good. He's the only archer out of the four (made Atlas one as well) who can double enemies, so he's about as effective. Hunter's Volley means you don't necessarily need that much speed though, and it lets Atlas be really good (when he hits)
Just to see the Kliff hype in full force I made him a merc and will be reclassing him to villager and taking the Mage route with his buffed up stats after this I think he will be my best magic unit...hopefully
I'm still somewhat new to the FE series. When I started my first playthrough, blind, I made kliff a mercenary. He's surprisingly effective at it (might be lucky level ups) And he became even more so when I gave him the lightning sword. He consistently doubles, does consistently high damage to pretty much everything he's fought against so far, and the vast majority of the time, his attacks hit their mark. I've been using him as my knight, and boss killer because of this.
This was actually really interesting to watch, and, while the recommended classes I'd generally heard of for most characters were present, it was interesting to see what some of your suggested alternatives were (and also amusing that Atlas' list was basically "Not Soldier"). I'm honestly not really sure what I wanna do with the villagers in my playthrough, or at least unsure of what I wanna do with most of them. Faye's gonna be a Cleric, definitely, 'cause I want to have access to Again, and I'm strongly leaning towards making Kliff a Mage, 'cause his spell list's still pretty darned nice, although I gotta admit, seeing Soldier on his recommended classes list kinda surprised me. It's kinda almost the opposite of making Atlas a Mage; sending the smallest, slightest villager into the beefiest playable class line in the game. Not totally sure what I'm gonna do with Gray, Tobin, or Atlas, but frankly the later is the most fascinating to me, due to his unusual situation and... frankly weird stat build. I'm contemplating making him a Mage, actually, both because it's aesthetically interesting next to his design and because it actually makes a surprising amount of sense for him from a gameplay standpoint.
Looking back on this. I have tried Atlas as a Mage, and I am going to say, it is very satisfying to nuke everything. He needs support to not get overwhelmed, but he is a very effective delete button for any problem you might run into.
It's not really a contest with Faye. Cleric is so much better because you can get her to work wonders with Silque as a teammate. Like, for example, having one of them rescue an ally from one end of the map before the other warps them all the way over to the other side of the map. Or having them caress each other with tender loving healing care for fast level-ups and assurance of nearly-constant full HP.
I tend to go with canon classes (Except for when I have too many of the same class), but I do change it up if a pairing of units is really good, like with my character Leahna is an absolute physical powerhouse negating most physical attacks with her high defense and blowing enemies away with her high skill and attack power that pairing her up with Rhajaht who I made a malig knight just so they can both ride wyverns so that way it was even cuter that they married, and with her stupid high resistance she was able to cover Leahna's weakness to magic so the pair were this duo of switching unstoppable power and it was amazing.
I like making Kliff a merc because it gives him an incredible amount of stats, instantly fixing his low bases. He said that he's inferior to other mercs, but I really don't think that's the case; he ended up the MVP of my army very quickly, and his 8 base resistance is a big part of that. He's a solid mage tank even before Dread Fighter. Plus, promoting him into merc means that late-game you can rush him to lv 10 Dread Fighter and loop him back into a godly mage. His incredible spell list combined with his Dread Fighter stats makes him rip through the post-game dungeon like nobody else.
And just to prove how much there isn't really a "true" option and that everyone's depend on the player's playstyle... I have reclassed Tobin and Gray as mercenaries, Kliff as an archer, and Faye as the magician... and they all fare well enough in my playthrough... My Tobin became a really good heavy hitter, especially with the levin sword I found later.
This will definitely be useful for when I replay the game. In my current playthrough, I made Tobin a soldier, Gray into a Cavalier, Kliff into a Merc, Faye into a Peg Knight, and Atlas also into a Merc.
That's a cool arrangement! Honestly I think that the villager classes will be one of the most fun parts about Echoes, especially the replay value of trying out different classes!
thanks for this video!!! my first run blind on normal perma death i did tobin-cav (he was strong early and his late game was made stronger with a lance +2 range, his middle game i had better cavs) gray-mage (terrible choice, his middle and late game stats didnt hold up at all for me, will be picking merc next time) kliff-archer(this guy outshined python by a ton, i cant see me ever picking him as anything else on future playthrus) faye-cleric(again, such good utility, i cant see me picking her as anything else in the future) atlas-knight( i had no clue what to do with this guy, will def pick merc next time)
A bit late to the party, but I got to act 2 before this popped up in my recommended. Kliff Archer, Tobin Mage, Gray Merc, Faye Pegasus Knight. Heavy Draw with Kliff's stats is actually really nasty, especially after he promotes to Sniper. His accuracy is on par and, at times, puts Python's to shame... Meanwhile, Tobin with Excalibur hasn't crit ONCE (yet). I didn't know what else to do with Gray, so I defaulted him... and I didn't realize I was getting another P. Knight so soon. Two pegasus knights for clean up is really... really nice, and I think Faye would have been outshined by Silque since that lovely priestess has WARP.
I'm already max Alm level on his first Class Fighter but I go too Mila Statue it didn't show Alm new Class anything all my other Unit already promote higher Class already instead Alm and Celica is there anything I missed too promote there class 😕😕😕😕😕
in my playthrough of gaiden i ended up picking the implied classes of the villagers despite not knowing what anything said (very patchy emulation) so i kept those classes in echoes and it worked v well 😊
I guess I got super lucky with Kliff in my playthrough since my first playthrough was a blind one I chose against finding out what characters I'd eventually recruit, and what their growth rates would be for each, what spells the different mages would learn, and as a result I made Kliff a cavalier the first time through, and honestly he ended up becoming the best one in my party ending up with way better stats than Mathilda in the end/at Thabes Labyrinth: Mathilda having; 28 Atk, 20 Skill, 23 Spd, 20 Lck, 18 Def, and 9 Res. Whilst Kliff had; 26 Atk, 22 Skill, 24 Spd, 14 Lck, 28 Def, And12 Res. And so for my playthrough, it made him not only an invaluable asset for every battle, but also played as if he was a very mobile unbreakable wall which everything just bounced harmlessly off of, able to quickly block and take the brunt of an attack and reposition from flank to flank at breakneck speed. Honestly, I don't regret my decision to make him a caviler at all XD
I mainly promoted the villagers based on what their best growths were for my first Normal/Casual run. Gray went to Soldier, Tobin went to Archer, Kliff went to Mercenary (and became an absolute beast with the Lightning Sword thereon), Faye got Pegasus Knight, and Atlas got Soldier. For my Hard/Classic run, I may go for the "canon" classes or whatever class patches up what I feel will be their weakest stat in the long run (plus I might make Faye a Mage then make her priestess to have her "emulate" her competition for Alm).
Kliff turned out to be my best soldier for Alm's route, he is soooooo overpowered as a mercenary, especially if you train him into a high stat Dread FIghter. He develops a skill which halves the damage any spell does to him and has high resistance as well. So I would just send him way ahead of my other troops whenever there were any mages and he would instantly wipe them out since his avoidance stat was also insanely high, meaning that mages would rarely hit him and when they did, they were only doing 2 or 3 damage each, which didn't matter since I gave him the ring that recovers 4 hp every round, and his speed and skill was high enough to crit almost any foot soldier semi-consistently, making him an absolute beast against all soldiers that weren't generals or armored units. He single-handedly won me the Nuibaba mission since even Medusa only did half damage instead of the full -1 which it is supposed to do. Gray was my worst one by far. I made him into a cavalier and by god is he useless. He doesn't develop high enough defense of attack to fend off other cavaliers and would always get killed if he was attacked twice, ALWAYS. Faye as a pegasus knight was a really good fit, but her weaknesses as a pegasus knight were very annoying. Like, she was a good unit until an archer was around, which then she would become really ineffective and I would have to rely on Kliff to carry my team. I made Tobin into a cavalier and he wasn't half bad, to be honest. In hind sight I would have made him into a mercenary just to have another Dread Fighter but Tobin as a cavalier wasn't too bad. He was fairly reliable as support and would last wayyy longer than Gray if I needed to rely on him to damage/fall other soldiers in a hurry. Still wasn't as good as Kliff or Faye though, but all in all, pretty good. I didn't have any mages at the start but that didn't hurt too much since you meet Delthea and Luthier early on in the map and Delthea is an absolute beast attacking so if you put her behind your other troops so foot soldiers can't surround her, it's game over.
This was pretty good, I like the choices and your justification about why each villager should go were. I know when I play, I'll be keeping everyone in mostly the same classes as when I play Gaiden so Gray as a mercenary, Kliff as a mage, and Tobin as a mercenary (thought I might consider archer, but I've had issues with Valentian archers so we'll see). For Faye, I'll probably go for cleric or Pegasus Knight(Alm's route only because you don't need a fourth one on Celica's route) and Atlas will probably go as a merc unless I can bump up his skill a bit then maybe go with archer or cavalier but by the time I can use him as a cavalier Clive, Mathilda, Zeke, Conrad and even Mycen will have more use then him because of their better stat distribution and gain. The only issue for the villagers to have once their class is chosen is whether they need more offence with the selection of weapons available or a shield for defensive issues unless they're an archer or mage who should focus on making the most out of their class with a bow for archers, and the magic or blessed ring to help out with their magical abilities. Also I know you said that it could be better to make Tobin a Mage over Kliff, but even though his spell list has been moved to later down the line, his HP growth has been lowered and Tobin gets access to Physic while he doesn't his spell list is superior and once he gets them, his stats will be good enough make use of them effectively (unless you get RNG screwed which can happen considering the growths in Valentia even though they have been changed by a bit). Oh and for Atlas it really is story dependent on what class you need at the time unless you have plans for him or aren't gonna use him.
Glad you liked the video! Yeah, it's definitely a tough decision in general. Personally though I plan on doing at least two playthroughs, so I think that it will make it a lot more fun for sure.
Yeah it is something that people do worry about and picking Atlas' class is always a gamble especially since his growths are relatively low in comparison to his HP and Atk, but having these choices shown by you will help those that are going into the game for the first time.
I'm still not over the fact that you feed Lon'qu to your other units in heroes for breakfast...but you still get a new subscriber with me! Why? because I love your content ^^
#Echoes I usually like to put people in their canonal classes but since most of them are very hazy place I'll take your ideas into consideration and pick on the spot when the choices and in front of me. Thanks!
The only villager I use is Kliff and I used him as a dread fighter turned yasha and his good attack stat with his 45 speed means he just doubles everything with a 66% crit rate with a maxed out brave sword
Cleric is the #1 class for Faye. Mine was RNG screwed as a villager so I had to promote her at an early level or she would be useless, but physic with a ring just lets her sit back and heal. Healing someone from a distance beats whatever else she does as any other class.
Personally, I promote them based on what you can examine in Ram Village. Tobin got an arrow lodged in a log, and when examined, Alm mentions him "practicing his archery." Burn mark on Mycen's house is revealed to be Tobin's. Gray and Faye are kinda... hard to pin down. In my first run, Gray was Cavalier. He was... eh. Meanwhile, Faye was a pretty great Falcon/Pegasus Knight. Second run made Gray a Mercenary (heard he was alright as that) and Faye a cleric, due to an exclusive spell.

Lucky Crit atlas for archer
Lucky Crit In the game are we going to be able to use all the units or we will have the max amount or will it be that u can't use a certain amount
Thanks for asking me to use my videos. Really appreciate it. Great video, btw! :)
Atlas is this huge muscle man, and then he gets hit and you realize his bones are made of glass
Derek Schacht that's what I felt when I heard him say he has good spell choices in a mage class.
The glass shatters though and pierces the skin of the attacking enemy, it's all good
Lucky Crit confirmed weapon art
I don't know how many times I had to restart just because Atlas keeps dying.
This is why you don't do automatic mode until you move Atlas out of the way
I find that the game itself hints at what classes you should reclass the villagers through exploration of Ram Village.
+Alexander Hone Yep! Beforehand we didn't know yet that they put these little hints in the game, but they're certainly cool!
Is there any tip for Atlas anywhere?
I don't believe so, unfortunately
I definately noticed them. XD
Not having playable axe users in Echoes sucks, because I could totally see Atlas as a Berserker.
He definitely looks like one. He would have made an awesome Berserker.
Von Ithipathachai You couldn't have axe users in Gaiden?
+GURGLEGUY12345
No, and that's one of the things I kind of disliked about Gaiden.
Von Ithipathachai What the actual fuck--
Von Ithipathachai Axes are for brainless rapists. You play as the infallible good side. Simple mathematics.

takumi did nothing wrong
Yeah I can do that too.
I still can't take Gaius to trickster.
StupidArtOnline I do sometimes for like the 2nd playthroughs lol.

Well fuck me its Mangs! Don't actually fuck me.
Thanks so much Mangs, yours is too :)
My two favorite fe youtubers have found each other
Faye as a cleric is good for one reason: Silque.
Yeah I reclass Faye to cleric class cos she and silque are best friends that can support and also having 2 healers is very beneficial for longterm

Lucky Crit I don't fault you for not finishing them, the translation just ruined many characters, which translate to not wanting to play it.
Wasn't expecting Faye to be more of a cleric. Especially since she was an archer in FE Heroes. ( I actually got her in FEH. I was so lucky lol)
Yeah I wasn't thinking of making mine a Cleric at first either, but after doing my research... it will definitely be a good option :)
Lucky Crit Yeah, after watching the video, it's easy to tell why. Thanks for making these dude. ;)
Condering you only have Silk for most of the time on Alm's side and Genny on Celica's side, yeah a second Cleric like Faye early on would be good.
The only bad part about making her a Cleric purely for Again, is that Again takes 24 HP to cast. So you'll basically have to have one of your other healers nearby to recover her as soon as she uses it.
While it's hardly optimal... Silque moves, does something>Faye Agains Silque>Silque heals Faye
I'm just gonna go with the OG Gaiden strat and go with:
Tobin: Archer
Grey: Mercenary
Kliff: Mage
Don't know about Faye, but her Cleric class is enticing.
Nothing wrong with OG :)
Luna is Best Waifu I
That's exactly what I did :D
That’s the same with me. For Faye, I have her as cleric on my first file and Pegasus Knight on my second file.
Tristan Lavictoire-For Gray, Mercenary, because of his speed and skill
Tobin-Archer, because of skill. Mage is also good, because he gets excalibur earlier
Kilff-He is a little tricky. Mage is actually best. He has a good amount of spells.
Faye-Cleric works for her as she is the only one that has the again spell.
Atlas-He has good strength and hp. So the mercenary class works for him. Celica has a good amount of mercenaries.
timestamps: gray 1:23 tobin: 2:20 kliff 3:40 faye 5:25 atlas: 8:08
Well, there was one thing you got terribly wrong in this video, which is Atlas' canon class is bench, I can't believe you'd make an error like that.
Hahaha I've seen some people saying this before. I guess I could have mentioned the fact that most opt to not really use him. His redesign is so good though...
Oh yeah, I love his new look, it's just a pity everything else is set against him, though based on his looks, he'd make perfect sense as a Conan style Mercenary. lol
Yes indeed!
Lucky Crit Atlas is good if you're willing to make him another one of your mercenaries, I made him a mercenary and plan to reclass him into an archer.
When and how can you reclass in this game?
I def wanna find out why in Heroes they made Faye an archer haha
Kinda wish they made her a cleric with the Again spell :P
Beatness I said this is his video about why Faye is an archer!! haha great minds think alike!
I heard they're making many dlc classes for the game. If they decide to actually give an axe wielding class to us, ill give it to atlas. Oh, and can we talk about how Kliff rocks any outfit he wears? lol that black color scheme is great
Nick Masla its only tier classes no Axes
Yeah Atlas just looks naturally like a Fighter or something
Kinu FoxySpirit aww. Bit of a missed opportunity but i suppose its good they remain true to the original
Kliff as a mercenary has been the best thing I've done. He crits on every hit, always attacks twice and Dread Fighter is just mage killer.
Dread fighters seem to be everything killers! They can end up doubling everything even with heavy forged weapons, and with 7 move they speed ahead of non-mounted units. Make all the villagers mercenaries for easy late game.
Oh no, but because other mercenaries exist in the game, you'd better make them worse units instead /s
It is a pain in the rear, but it is worth the
I don’t know why I didn’t discover this channel earlier but it’s pretty impressive. Kudos dude.
Same lol
To weigh in on the Quartet of the starting team, the hints also weigh in from the Point and Click parts in Ram: Tobin and a misplaced arrow, Kliff and a scorched part of Mycen's place, and The damaged fence with Grey... so interesting weight in-game
Yes indeed! Before the game launched we had no idea they were adding in these little hints, however it's definitely a cool little easter egg and I'm glad they snuck that in there for new players!
Lucky Crit the bad news? None of the spots hint for Faye's case, as if the game says to abandon her... dunno why
E C H O E S
I find it interesting that you prefer classes that will balance out each villager's weak stats cos I usually do the opposite.
I still haven't played Gaiden because lolNES but this is starting to sound more complicated than my first Thracia run.
alsoremakethraciathereishope
My plans for the villagers are:
Gray - Archer
Tobin - Mage
Kliff - Mercenary
Faye - Cleric
Atlus - Archer
I like this game a lot more than I thought I would.
Nice video, thanks!
Lucky Crit I found it caused my units to be pretty strong against all non mage classes, and even some of those
I just realized I unintentionally made every villager their OG class, Faye was a Pegasus Knight (sadly her defenses rarely grew) and Atlas a cavalier (hell in the desert stages)
My plans for the villagers:
Grey- Mercenary
Cliff- Cavalier
Tobin- Mage
Faye- Cleric
Atlas- Archer
Mt plans for the vilagers
Grey - Cavalier
Kliff - Mercenary
Tobin Archer
Faye- Mage
Atlas- Soldier or Archer
Sounds like a good group. Thanks for watching :)
My villagers.
Grey: Mercenary
Tobin: Archer
Faye:Cleric
Kliff:Mage
Atlas: Cavalier
Gray: Cav
Kliff: Merc
Tobin: Mage
Faye: Cleric
Atlas: Never used
Grey: mage
Tobin: Archer
Kliff: Mercenary
Faye: Cavalier
Atlas: Soldier
In my first playthrough, I made Cliff was a mage, Tobin was a Archer and Gray a Mercenary because in the first Village there were things like Cliff was testing here fire magic or so. Faye was a Cavalier because I knew that my very first units wouldn't be someone with a horse.
This game isn't here yet but there are already memes.
I've beaten this game twice and each time I've made Kliff an archer. Maybe I just got lucky with him but he always had decent speed and skill level ups and his attack and defense were both high on both playthroughs. I can't imagine making him anything else.
If Faye's canon class is Cavalier or Peg Knight, why is she an archer in Heroes?
I think they needed another gray unit and maybe they didn't really know what to do with her. I think they also wanted some gender diversity within his group/banner too, hence why we didn't see Gray/Kliff/Tobin or someone else in that spot. Yeah, it's weird. I kinda like her as an archer though, which is the sad part. They should have de-gender restricted that class in Echoes!
Lucky Crit yeah, I planned on making her an archer in Echoes too
Because.... Faye is a piece of crap?
Lord Tullus 9 [Puffy Sprinkles] yeah, but let's not spoil it.
I like Faye a lot.. but yes, her character leaves a lot to be desired.
Magical Hit = Spell Base Hit + Floor[(Skill+Luck)/2]
Magical Avoid = Floor[(Speed+Luck)/2]
Displayed Magical Hit = Min[(Magical Hit - Enemy Magical Avoid), Spell Base Hit] + Support/Skill Effects
To be fair, though, this shouldn't change things significantly for where Atlas and his different promo options stand.
*Floor: discard anything below the decimal point
**Displayed hit is bounded between 0 and 100, inclusive at both ends
***Magical Avoid is explicitly listed on the unit menu while playing a map
Wow, thanks for the insight!
Wow. That's fantastic. It's like there's no change at all.
Wait.. what's "Floor"? I thought (and I know) that magic hit rates are not effected by terrain bonuses?
Good to know! Thanks for the further insight.
Here:
Kliff - Soldier.
Although hitrates are strange in gaiden and probably in echoes too, so Defense>speed
EDIT: WOW I was an ahole back then. Most of my points still stand, but Like wow.
Lord Tullus 9 [Puffy Sprinkles] is

Lord Tullus 9 [Puffy Sprinkles] That's an odd picture of Azura you got there...
Odd? I'd say... interesting...
Yeah...very...
Thanks yous!!! I'm getting really pumped for this game now :)
It's out now so get it when you can! Thanks for checking out the video!
I think what I'll do is Kliff and Faye as Mages, Tobin as an Archer, Gray as a Mercenary, and Atlas probably also as a Mercenary.
That's exactly what I did. Gray and Atlas has leveled up the best
Also with the male villagers (and anyone you use the pitchforks on from dlc) you could put them down the mercenary route them promote to myrmidon, then dread fighter because at lvl 10 dread fighters can promote into villagers allowing you to loop for higher stats as well as go into other classes as well
Turned my Faye into a gold knight kills everything
Honestly just realized Atlas is kind of screwed in Celica's route. (This is my opinion so if you feel the need to point something out please do.)
A bit sad that Fae can't become an archer, since she uses bows in Echoes.
Matthew Greer you mean heroes
Fae is a manakete from binding blade my dude
*Faye
Matthew Greer u fucked up 2 times in a row
Maybe it was the pills I was taking.
Thank you for all your awesome videos. I have gotten so much out of them whilst playing. I look forward to more videos.

That was a very good and well made video. One thing though, nearly everything you said about Faye's performance in her class options seemed very similar to a write up on Reddit about the subject. Did you use the write up as a basis for your section on Faye?

Wow your videos are great quality. Thank you for your effort, very informative.
Really glad you enjoyed. Thanks for watching!
I literally showed that part you put in the intro to every one I know when I first saw it
Is shut up Tobin a meme
That was super useful! Wish I had seen this yesterday before promoting my Faye to a peg knight, Rescue would have been helpful. I'll know for the next playthrough though so thanks :)
That's the cool thing about Echoes, it will definitely be a lot of fun to do a second playthrough of and check out a bunch of other classes for your units :)
After I found out that Kliff is an asshole, Gray became the best villager. HE'S THE BEST FIGHT ME!
Samus The Goddess nahnahnah, that would be Bird!
Why is Kliff an asshole?
Lucky Crit in the first tobinxkliff and grayxkliff support he kind of acts like that. which I do find refreshing.
+Saul Reyes Where shall we have our fight?
+Lord Tullus 9 [Puffy Sprinkles] Eh, I'm not a fan.
I love this channel because it's presentation is so good
Thanks buddy! Really glad you like it :)
Lucky Crit Your channel is underrated. I love your videos!
We're really glad you think so! Thanks so much for watching :)

I never had an issue with that. You just fight differently with going slow and steady rather than trying to rush your opponent. I usually go for either another mage to increase my core strength or archer for additional support.
Yes! I upgraded all of the suggested classes to what you said before watching this video! XD
Hope you love the game! Thanks for watching!
I made Kliff into an archer and he's pretty good. He's the only archer out of the four (made Atlas one as well) who can double enemies, so he's about as effective. Hunter's Volley means you don't necessarily need that much speed though, and it lets Atlas be really good (when he hits)
When I played Echoes I made Tobin an Archer, Grey a Mercenary, Kliff a Mage, Faye a Cleric, and Atlus a Cavalier. I guess I made good choices.
Snowthree darn, I went Pegasus knight with my Faye, and I was almost gonna pic cleric for her...
Honestly I think that the villager classes will be one of the most fun parts about Echoes, especially the replay value of trying out different classes!
thanks for this video!!!
my first run blind on normal perma death i did
tobin-cav (he was strong early and his late game was made stronger with a lance +2 range, his middle game i had better cavs)
gray-mage (terrible choice, his middle and late game stats didnt hold up at all for me, will be picking merc next time)
kliff-archer(this guy outshined python by a ton, i cant see me ever picking him as anything else on future playthrus)
faye-cleric(again, such good utility, i cant see me picking her as anything else in the future)
atlas-knight( i had no clue what to do with this guy, will def pick merc next time)
A bit late to the party, but I got to act 2 before this popped up in my recommended.
Time Stamps because f*ck it why not?
1:25 Gray
2:32 Tobin
3:44 Kliff
5:28 Faye
8:12 Atlas
in my playthrough of gaiden i ended up picking the implied classes of the villagers despite not knowing what anything said (very patchy emulation) so i kept those classes in echoes and it worked v well 😊
I guess I got super lucky with Kliff in my playthrough since my first playthrough was a blind one I chose against finding out what characters I'd eventually recruit, and what their growth rates would be for each, what spells the different mages would learn, and as a result I made Kliff a cavalier the first time through, and honestly he ended up becoming the best one in my party ending up with way better stats than Mathilda in the end/at Thabes Labyrinth: Mathilda having; 28 Atk, 20 Skill, 23 Spd, 20 Lck, 18 Def, and 9 Res.
Thanks for posting on my birthday.
Happy birthday! Hope you liked the gift :)
Thank you! It was great. :D
I like Lon'qu, but sometimes you need that sweet sweet Vantage on your other units :)
#Echoes
I usually like to put people in their canonal classes but since most of them are very hazy place I'll take your ideas into consideration and pick on the spot when the choices and in front of me.
Thanks!
This video is pretty nice as I'm suddenly becoming nostalgic for Echoes, a new run may just have to be in order
Thanks for coming back!
fates was my first fe game I played all 3 routes but this video alone tells me this game is completely different
The only villager I use is Kliff and I used him as a dread fighter turned yasha and his good attack stat with his 45 speed means he just doubles everything with a 66% crit rate with a maxed out brave sword
thanks for doing these vids man.
Of course man, hope you found it helpful. Thanks for tuning in :)
Cleric is the #1 class for Faye. Mine was RNG screwed as a villager so I had to promote her at an early level or she would be useless, but physic with a ring just lets her sit back and heal. Healing someone from a distance beats whatever else she does as any other class.
Yeah she gets Physic REALLY fast and mine as a Cleric is already better than Silque. It's a good option for her.
Personally, I promote them based on what you can examine in Ram Village.
Tobin got an arrow lodged in a log, and when examined, Alm mentions him "practicing his archery."
Burn mark on Mycen's house is revealed to be Tobin's.
