Yall gotta deal with frost heaving. Thank god i don't have that issue. The local vines here are metal inner and big wooden anchor posts. But muscadines dont bunch like concords
Thanks Colleen. Will probably take at least 2-3 years before I find out but as long as the vines break dormancy and put on growth, ill chalk it up as a win
I used the one across the street from peaches n such as my template on how high i wanted to build it. But those muscadines are a whole different animal. They love the humidity. Clemson extension said this variety works so im eager to see for myself
I was told they "bleed" alot when cut so grafting grapes is very difficult. Which makes sense since in the springtime especially the best place to get fresh water is by cutting a grape vine and just drinking from the tap
Good job. We use 2x4 instead of wire. Of course ours is 12 foot tall for one row and 10 for the other with beams and 2x4s spanning between the two. We used 2x4s because we climb up it to work on the grapes, training them up and over the span.
Yall are lucky you get the good climate for grapes. Humidity murders almost every type of concord grape there is. Im trusting my local extension with this kind to see if they work
Hi Anthony, good to see you, have never grown grapes but it would be great to do it. Will be interesting to see how they do here in Queensland, l think they would be great. l sure could do with a post hole digger though
Good question, it does get very hot there with can be an enemy for most wine grape varieties. Im sure theres a few cultivars thatll work. Hope youre doing well Gaye
Thank you! Wine is definitely in the cards for later on if this little one is successful. Tried to keep this build on a small budget so anyone can do it on a weekend
It's ran northeast to southwest. The idea was to get as much morning sunlight from the east I could to dry the dew off the leaves to keep fungal issues at the minimum. So far, seems to be working
Grapes are amazing! Especially ones you grow yourself. I actually like getting them to grow on wood frames. I find it easier to manage for some reason. Looks good Anthony! Every little bit helps. Got to just keep pushing forward. Also, how does the lumber hold up in your humidity?
👍 Dude! You need an auger!! I finally got one this past summer👍 so much easier! Looks really nice. That’s going to look really nice when grown out a bit. You should be able to cover them from frost easier as well. Interesting about the water. The more you know.
Its on the list. Especially once i build my shed. I just remember digging 10 holes for the garden and my forearms were toast for the next 2 days. Im hoping this design will let me net easier if i run into bird troubles

I have wild grapes everywhere and I’m putting in a lot of varieties to. I want different flavors. I’m putting in a food forest so I’m going to be putting in alot of grapes.

I really hope this type works. I love fresh grapes.
As for the lumber, pressure treated lasts a good long time but Cedar and cypress work just as well
