Pete, we do the same sort of thing when planting in a new spot. Only my tiller is a small Mantis tiller (aka - "dirt chainsaw"). Best thing for clay soils is fluffing it up and amending the soil like you said. Nothing makes fluffy soil like a tiller (big or small)! Another great video.

@@pilsplease7561 We always do. Acid soil is the norm for us so it's almost a 2nd though
What is your soils average ph? Mine was acidic sand tending to sit around 5.6-5.8 but 2 years of lime applications finally got it up to 6.5 and I am a happy camper my vines are doing a lot better. Will continue to monitor them and fertilize them and if the soil goes acidic ill add more lime again.@@davidward1259

I like that you said "It's plant time not playtime to Cocoa. I think the kittens want to put more organic fertilizer on too. Nothing like fluffy soil as a litter box.

u need to cut the excess root before planting them . keep 8 inc root form top to bottom and cut the rest.

How long after planting these will you get grapes?
My plant hasn’t being making leafs, I took it off ground to check for root development, it has new roots but no leaves, I moved it to a pot to and put it inside near a window. No clue why it’s producing roots but no leaves. Any ideas?

Is ph 7 ok? I was also told adding compost would hurt
You could also mix in some peat moss in the soil to lower the pH a bit.
Compost is bad for grapes because it is too rich with grapes you do not want rich soil they will not make grapes if your soil has too much nutrients just a bunch of leaves and wood. I make wine professionally. And have managed a bunch of vineyards.
How many months that barefoot
These were rooted from grape cuttings and had a pretty good size root system so I would imagine they are from last winter a year ago. So when they go dormant again in the winter, they sale them. So they are probably 1 year old.
