    Without the ability to use an adapter plate for the Morimoto Mini - a bit of extra work will have to be done to allow the projector to fit and lock onto the reflector bucket. Additional work will also be needed to align the rotation of the projector.
    ******************************
    1) Most reflector buckets have a deep bulb holder area that's too much for the threaded shaft on the projector to fit through, while still allowing the lock ring to fully tighten. By cutting or sanding down the "butt" of the reflector, you will free up a lot of space so that the threaded shaft of the projector can easily fit all the way through the reflector's pre-existing hole and all the hardware can be re-installed.
    2) Because the adapter plate also does the alignment in an H7 or H4 application, you will need to manually align the projector. We recommend re-installing the headlights onto your car with the projectors installed (but the lock rings only semi-tightened, and with the front lens covers not yet reinstalled) and turning on the headlights so that you can see the beam pattern aimed on a wall in front of the car. If the beam is anything but level, you can simply grab the projector from the front, rotate it, and then tighten the lock rings all the way from there.

    What did you do with the wire for the cut-off shield solenoid? Drill another hole after install? I'm about to do this retrofit next weekend, and that's one thing I'm wondering about. I'm thinking I should drill a small hole in the reflector bowl under where the silicone washer will seat, feed the wires through, then seal it up with some slow drying silicone. What's your solution?

  • @mujjuman
    @mujjuman 9 лет назад +4

    i wsh it was taht easy lol for many aplications you have to actually trim the reflector to make the actual bowl fit.

    So I'm in the middle of my retrofit. Headlights open, everything trimmed down, and now I just need to test fit the projector. Well I thought the hard part was behind me, then I run into the Morimoto bulb holder screws from hell. Those things feel like they were installed by an impact gun. I managed to remove two before stripping the rest in a failed attempt to remove them. You can even see depressions in the bulb holder from how tight the screws were put on during assembly. I'll definitely be returning them. I still want to finish my retrofit but I'll ask TRS to remove the bulb holder screws for me on the replacement set. It's not a pleasant experience to endure after dropping $320 on the stage III kit.

    • @artcore9886
      @artcore9886 6 лет назад

      Yup i know. I had couple of them stripped too on Mini H1 7.0. Luckily i had like 7 different small screwdrivers to finally get one to fit snugly and SLOWLY with some pressure, get them out.

      The Moto control harness from TRS is plug and play and controls the solenoid when you switch from low to high to low beam.

      @@RetrofitSource it’s for my 2015 lifted Scion xB. And right now I’m workin on putting a roof rack.
      Later on. Hopefully I would be able to complete my off-road suspension components, and then focus on swap my all Boring incandescent/halogen bulbs.
      So far, I did use GTR Lighting 10 chip canbus T10 mini bulb on my front headlights, did swap a high beam halogen for 8 watt 3000k led yellow lights from SNGL. It’s not that bright, but bright enough for looks and useful for weather conditions. Plus, the brightness doesn’t hurt that much, compare to high beam halogens or better 20-30watt led high beam lights.
      Now I gotta focus on low beam,my T10 side marked of the front side headlights, and my tail lights to be full led. Make it look premium.
      Especially my license plate lights. They been burned out for few years lol.

    Hey Guys. I have an e92 335i and recently restored the outside of my headlight but have hazing coming from the xenon projector. Looks like dust on the inside. Would this confirm that I would need to change/clean the projector dome or is there a slight chance that hazing is coming from a slightly burned xenon bulb rather than a slightly burned projector. Please help. It's been driving me crazy.

    I have a 2001 monte carlo ss and the low beam is 9006. Im thinking about doing a retrofit with the marmot mini h1 6.0. What bulb do I need to buy for this application? Would it be a 9006 hid kit or something else because this projector is bi xenon and my factory setup is separate high beam and low beam. Would the normal high beam come on and the projector not or the projector and high beam. Im just a little confused on which bulb type I would get?

    • @bigkarl24
      @bigkarl24 9 лет назад

      It would still be a 9006. You will have to buy the minimoto that works with 9006 bulb that's all

    • @FEARLE5S
      @FEARLE5S 9 лет назад +1

      Austin Ehm
      WRONG YOU WILL NOT USE 9006 ANYMORE. its called a mini H1 because it uses a H1 BULB!

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  9 лет назад

      Austin Ehm Yes, you will run a 9006 HD Relay harness with the 9005>9005/9006 splitters to make everything work properly from the controls inside the car. The Mini H1 projector will use an H1 HID bulb. You'll have xenon low beams from the projectors, and then xenon high beams on the projectors working in conjunction with your stock halogen high beams.
