Don't forget that HID inverter ballasts' quality as whole matters more than anything, even than the bulbs they run. I had a cheaper ballast which tended to flicker and dim down after warmup in my modified Cyclops Thor Colossus halogen spotlight (with 39 Watts ceramic metal halide bulb installed for longer lifespan, and yup, it works very well), so I went with the Hylux A2088 ballast, and I got none of the weirdness from the ballast in the spotlight, this time it's more of the bulb (of course none of those bulbs are 100% the same). So, don't cheap out on HID kits; metal halide bulbs as whole are actually temperamental.
Hi Chris. Thanks as always for the informative videos. When you began to talk about knock-offs, I had hoped you would go further into the topic of HID bulbs in halogen reflector housings. No matter how much it may be preached, the argument will never get old and a lot of people are so misinformed and ignorant to that fact.
We didn't touch on that because we have a few videos covering that topic already. You are correct though that more people need to be educated on how to properly install and use aftermarket bulbs. Thanks for the comment and the view, it's much appreciated.
@@HeadlightRevolution your website has a disclaimer stating its illegal in the states to use these bulbs with the reflective shroud still installed. are you saying these bulbs or leds in general do not blind traffic like the hids from the past 15 years?
As far as I understand (and I do not live in the US), if the vehicle did not come from the factory with similar tech, then it would be offensive to install them in headlamp housings that were not designed with them. Technically, it could be difficult to determine when there are manufactured aftermarket headlamp units available. Additionally, these lighting components are acceptable for off-road use only.
