this video is incredibly helpful. People buy LEDs without ideas. After watching this video, I believe that many people have remembered that they bought the wrong things.

Very good presentation. I was a lighting engineer. You didnt explain the global lighting requaltion define that type of light projection and sharp top cutoff to prevent blinding oncoming drivers. Effectively focusing the light hot spot where it will do the most good.😊😊
Excellent information; shared this video with a shop owner who was recommending the multi-sided LED bulbs to me. The more people that get a proper education on this matter-the better it is for everyone.
In a way, You're right. The headlight bulb collar can only be inserted and locked into place one way. From there, Most headlight bulbs can be adjusted or 'clocked' inside the collar itself. This will allow you to ensure the LEDs on the bulb are oriented properly in that particular headlight.
@@jberkhimer What you think matters very little to me, but you're also wrong. LEDSON LED 11G Xtreme (6000K) - H7 Is the name of the bulb. The collar can be turned all the way around, wich is fortunate cuz if the cable would have come out at the bottom they wouldn't have fit in my headlights.
Going to be honest, I was very very sceptical about the whole thing until after I had watched the whole video I finally understood how it works, thank you so much for the brilliant information, instant sub and like 👍🏼
I've learned and understood so much out of this video, that I've never learned in 20 years of changing lightbulbs based only on the eyes and luck! THANK YOU!
Wow, I am so pleased to finally see someone who actually does know what he's talking about. Great job explaining why leds dont work in halogen reflectors. Another aspect to consider is the kelvin factor. The AMA asserts that the super white or high kelvin bulbs actually cause your pupils to constrict reducing visibility further. We see best with sunlight about 4500k since millions of years of practice. Oh, and could you please do a video on how to, and the importance of adjusting headlights correctly. Seems like some people need that. Great job , thanks.
I absolutely enjoyed watching this video! I find it really entertaining and you explained the different types of bulbs really well! I run LEDs in reflector headlights and they come out way brighter and way better. It depending on what bulb your looking for and like you said in the video, figure out the length and the width of the led bulb. A lot of people will say “No! You can’t use LEDs in reflector headlights! You’re blinding everybody!” I did have slightly shorter length LEDs in reflector headlights, I didn’t ever get flashed by oncoming cars, however, I’m always being a self conscious that the beam pattern isn’t brilliant and the cut off line isn’t great. I look into slightly longer ones which is Novsight ones again, it depends of how long and the width of the bulb you’re looking for. I gone for longer ones and the beam pattern comes out much better! Thank you so much for the info about the different bulbs!

Great video. I was trying to find fog light leds for my car online and felt overwhelmed and clueless. This may have saved me from making a terrible purchase I feel more knowledgeable now already. Thanks!
I put SL1 led lights in my 2015 Sierra and I love them! Didn't have to drill any holes because they are slim and was able to get the dust cap back on. If people would just do a little research before buying they could save themselves time and money.
This was awesome!!! Thank you for teaching us the truth!!! Unfortunately too many people may know this, but not look fo the quality in the product. They want the look, and unfortunately it's blinding and not too many people care about it.
Those 360 style definitely don’t work for hi or low beam headlights,, but I use them for turns, brakes, DRLs, side markers, and all interior lights I realize it’s a headlight website, but just saying. Great information ! I’m addicted to this channel lol !
oh my god thats why!!😭 i just bought a two sided led for my car which it has projector headlights, and i just figured that it does not compatible with it, that is why i felt so weird why it doesnt looks as bright as my other cars which uses different kind of headlights, thanks for the precise and very easy to understand explanation!!!❤
They work fine in projector housings. I tried the normal LEDs in mine and it was terrible. Then I put the 360 bulbs in and they worked really well. And vice versa, the 360 was terrible in my reflector housing.
Exactly, I use them in my 2001 Ford focus and the headlights are better than they've ever been.... Everything he described was not the case for me, but I assume he's speaking for more modern headlight housings.
This is SO important so you actually choose proper headlights for your car. Otherwise you do blind other drivers and your down road vision is seriously impaired. Great video!
Thank you for the awesome video. A lot of people don't think about the small details that make big differences. In my professional life I have seen people just don't care about these details and wonder why they put their projects fail
This video is definitely informative. I don't have a car yet, but I am planning to have one and the most important factor in selecting the best suitable car for me is headlights as I will be driving in all weather conditions and in daylight or night time, so I want to have reasonable visibility while driving at night and at the same time not blinding other drivers. Thank you man, I know what I want now
So glad that this video helped you out, you are totally right, it is very important to be able to see well when driving in all conditions! If there is anything else we can do for you, let us know, we are here to help! Have a good one!
Yes you are right about the 360 led on halogen reflector housing but in my case, tried so many LED bulbs and ended up in the 360 led. Im using stock projector bi beam on my car with the solenoid magnetic cutoff. I got a nice cutoff and a better high beam than most of the leds i tried. Thanks for the info as always!
I noticed the cone shaped led was only used in the halogen housing which I would have suspected would look like crap. But, if it was used in a projector housing with a shutter that calls for say a 9012 bulb, it seems to me that this would be an ideal situation, because the shutter would cut light from the end of the bulb in low beam and open the entire light source on high beam. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks for this, I fitted a three element to my motorcycle headlamp and could not understand why it was so terrible, annoyed hell out of other oncoming vehicles and there was basically zero difference between high and low, now looking for proper 2 element LED.
Glad we could save you from that horror!😂 Let us know if you would like to get a pair of bulbs going, and we will be happy to help! Sales@HeadlightRevolution.com
Definitely never knew any of this. Appreciate the informative video brother! I just installed some H11 Sylvania LED bulbs, and they are 2 sided. Heres to hoping they work properly lol
I really wanted to see what the results were for that cone shaped bulb in the projector light. I ran one before, I'm considering running it again. My housings are at max height and it's still too low, so I'm wanting to try different styles of bulbs. I'm currently using FAHREN 9005 HB3 2 sided bulbs on a 13 Dodge Dart withe Spec D Tuning sequential switchback headlamp assemblies.
Wish I had seen this before my failed purchase. Only $20 loss but unnecessary cost for education. Fog light replacement on my 2011 Equinox. Hoping to match my upgrade to the headlight's which work perfectly!! Theory seemed will founded...all those LED's should have lite up a football stadium. After install and facing the car, they didn't seem overly impressive but the light color matched the headlights... from behind the steering wheel I thought they had burnt out!! Being it was twilight outside at the time, I thought they would get better at full darkness. NOT! Turning the fog lights only on, was the only way I knew they were working. I literally had better down the road brightness holding my cellphone out the window with the flashlight on. Thanks for the info to understanding why it doesn't work!!!
Last week purchased a 360 degree like the black one. Indeed a worthless light pattern. Waste of money. Thanks for this video. Wish I'd seen this video a bit sooner 😅
What I find ironic is a few years ago, every RUclips video said "use projector housings for LED bulbs!" and this right here shows that wasn't the problem. I'm glad I've waited, might do some LEDs in my Malibu... you know, the one where you have to remove the entire front of the car to change the headlights? Yeah, that one.
This video was very helpful I just put 4 sided led in my car and was wondering why my original lights worked better than my led so now I’m going to change them to right leds 👍
I recently found your channel and admire your knowledge of LEDs. I’ve been watching for any info I can get on buying some LED lights to upgrade the fog lights on my 2008 CTS Cadillac, regardless of price, can you recommend the best LED specifically for the fog lights of my car?
Have you ever tested LED bulb in housing that are for off road equipment? The housing that I am wondering about were reflector style and generally used a 9005 bulb. Typically they were setup to produce either a trapezoidal or flood pattern. I assume the same basic apply for the trapezoidal hosing but what about the flood?
Great video and great information. I understand much better why you don't want to slap in any old LED bulb. Keep up you informative videos! Five thumbs up.
This is a very well done presentation. Showing the actual light pattern is very helpful. I would be interested in a life expectancy test. A lot of these are very expensive and I hear stories about failing electronics due to heat. A lot of this is moot because so many idiots I pass at night are running their brights anyway and won't dim them down.
Thanks for the updated info on the age old issue. I'm a loyal customer of yours who bought S-V4's all along for mine and my family's vehicles, and all of them are still going strong. One thing I'm dying to find out for folks not able to fork out hundreds of dollars for this luxury, is how the budget Amazon/eBay S-V4 clones like the PrecisionLED, Katana, Nineo, F2, etc. bulbs stack up against the OG S-V4 and other established competition. Thank you guys again for enlightening (pun intended) the world with such knowledge.
The S-V.4 beam pattern and brightness tends to outperform those bulbs almost every single time. Not only that, Their warranty and customer service tends to be a bit lacking.
@@HeadlightRevolutionLike I said, I would REALLY appreciate (and I'm sure many others will too) if you make a video specifically comparing the output/quality of these bulbs, with perhaps a few others thrown in the mix.
You're doing amazing job. Do bad most people are idiots and just buy whatever is cheapest or has the highest number. I even know a guy who was going for an LED bulb and I told him "You're gonna blind everybody with that" .. He told me "I know, it's awesome!"
Pretty cool examples but I have a set of the 360° cone(as you called them) in my projector headlights and they have the cutoff and hot spot, brighter than halogen don't know exact amount as I don't have a lux reader
Which ones did use? I’m having a hard time finding bulbs for my projectors and came across the cone LED’s but this video is saying otherwise but I didn’t see them use the cone leds in the projector lens I’m guessing cause they worked better than all the bulbs.
Excellent video for driving lights. I have 360 in my fog lights with only the cone reflection surface. It works alot better than my stock bulbs. Maybe the others would be better. I don't know. Got them as a gift so that is what I use. When I have to change them I will look into a different style
These 5:15 and 5:28 bulbs could work well in a projector headlight as they are similar in light point size to a hid bulb. It's a pity you didn't test them in the projector. The ones you tested in the projector have a larger light point.
It's been confirmed the 5:28 bulb works perfect with projector headlights: ruclips.net/video/Xe4rksyLzw0/видео.html He says it's useless for freeform headlights as well.
Very informative. a ton of my buddy’s ask how I get a solid beam pattern with my FJ cruiser in aftermarket projection housings, and I almost always point them toward your channel; as well as I picked up some vision X Led 4.7in lights that I use for fog lights. I hardly have to use my high beams anymore
You proved you're right!!! But now I wonder, then why does these 360 bulbs exist? There weren't scientist and light engineers who took their time to make tests and research before sell something that actually doesn't work?
I like how the video used some measurements, however I personally disagree with the fact that having multisided led is bad for headlights, i might agree in some regular headlights but in most modern headlights which contain a lens, it is automatically designed to gather the light into one spot
Which led color is the most comparable to a halogen bulb? Although the 6000k is a very nice, a color that's similar to a halogen might help in countries where installing leds is illegal. 3000k is to yellow, but 4000k is to white compared to a halogen... Maybe you can make a video about this subject.
@@HeadlightRevolution I've seen a lot of cars with oem xenon with 4300k and the light is a lot whiter than a halogen, so definitely a led with 4300k will be whiter than a halogen.
So I know the results are in the vid but I've got some 4 sided led on a aftermarket housing that's probably off on the reflections so I've had best results with the 4 sided I've tried the 2 sided aswell not sure why
I watched this after I installed the 4 sided 9006 low beam led lights. I was using 2 sided 9006 LEDs and I saw 3-4 sided ones when I was browsing. Since their prices were very similar to my 2 sided ones, I decided to UPGRADE my low beams with the more powerful ones. Actually they are producing more light than my 2 sided ones in my case but the problem is they have vertically wider angle with the same headlights. I was trying to find out how to adjust the aim of the low and high beam lights separately because the upper line of 4 sided LEDs were quite higher than my high beams. I found only one adjustment bolt in my 2006 Honda Odyssey that adjusts the aim of the whole assembly. I am not a professional but if I understand everything correctly, there should be no way to adjust them properly while preserving the aim of the high beams. Because the additional sides of the 2 sided bulbs will always create a problem since they are not designed properly as you explained in this video. Thanks for sharing 👍
That is the issue with those multi sided LEDs, they usually produce terrible beam patterns. If adjusting the headlights is not fixing anything, I hate to say it but the bulbs themselves may be causing the issue.
I don't know I put 4 sided H11 LED headlight bulbs on my stock headlight casings on my 2015 Nissan Sentra two years ago. Visibility is not only brighter but it also gives you a wider and father view which to me is priority since I do a lot of highway state to state driving during the night and wildlife can surprise you here in Colorado. I also get a lot of compliments from friends and strangers at gas stations. I've also noticed it makes my vehicle look newer if im driving behind you and it looks a lot better than outdated yellow headlights. My best friend has the same exact car w. Regular headlights we've put the car side by side in the pitch black Colorado mountains and it was OBVIOUS my LED lights were vastly superior in terms of brightness, distance and a wider view. My only complaint is they do not illuminate nearly as well as halogens do in heavy rain!! I still firmly believe the pros outweigh the cons! I would definatley recommend. Im a real consumer for two years now.
Also halogen bulbs will burn out a lot sooner than LED headlights like a LOT earlier. They produce a lot more heat causing quicker fading and yellow nasty film on your headlight casing. Lastly, they use a lot more power and current than led bulbs which results in higher demand from your alternator and battery which could mean premature costly repairs. Ill put it this way I have always purchased the standard cheap Walmart battery for my car and mind you i live in Colorado so I sit and smoke in my car regularly with my lights, and radio on continuously for hours and those lights have never ever caused my battery to die. With my halogen bulbs Id have to turn my car on every 10-12 minutes to keep the battery from draining. The difference is current is crazy. I do recommend LED headlights!
LEDs really do help, although we could not find a pair of multi-sided LEDs that really worked that well in any headlight application. I am glad that they are working for you in that application, let us know if you need anything else! Thanks for the support!🙏
LOL, I just ordered 2 sided LUXTAR® Premium Canbus bulbs and thought "damn they are Multi-Sided", then I realized he thought of "multi" as more than two rather than more than one side, and I sighed with relief 😁
I totally agree, that 2sided LEDs are the way to go. BUT I have headlight with separate high and low beam and it seems, that multiple-sided led would be better for high beam reflector. Yes, their light source may have larger area, but I don't think it is a downside in high beams. They may be hot, but I think that would be okay, because you don't use high beams for long periods of time. What do you think please?
The issue with using multi sided LED bulbs for high beams would be the lack of brightness and also a terrible beam pattern. Even though you don't have to worry about blinding people when your high beams on (assuming no traffic is coming since they are on) you won't have the light going where it's needed. 2 Sided bulbs will still be better for high beam applications.
Dostum mercekli farımda en iyi sonucu 360 derece led verdi. Buna ne diyorsun? 90 derece led halojenden daha kötüydü. Artık çok daha güvenli seyahat ediyorum.
How would you compare all the two-sided LED light bulbs? Also, is there something on your website that I can see and compare which is best for a 7th gen Nissan Maxima? For fog lights as well
Send us an email to Sales@HeadlightRevolution.com and we'll help you get exactly what you need for your vehicle. We have many options for you and your Nissan Maxima.
This video needs way more viewers. I deliver things by motorcycle, for a living. Many times, I am blinded by oncoming cars. And I don't know, if it's because my seating position is lower then a sportbike & Dualsport. Is it because they have their highbeams on? Are their lights not adjusted? Or do they have the wrong replacement for those housings? I may never know, and I don't care enough to turn around, chase them down & ask. You almost make me want to hand out cards, with the channel & title of this video. Then again, so many people are assholes & idiots, who will never change, no matter how nice & reasonable I speak. Thank you this & other videos.
Thank you very much for the support! We’re doing our best to get people the right info, That should hopefully help with the amount of people driving around blinding everyone!
@@HeadlightRevolution And I realized, it doesn't matter how low my motorcycle seating position is. Because I will just be at the same eye level as cars. So if someone is blinding me, then they're blinding cars too.
I put them in my wife's 13 Explorer that has projector style headlights. Way better light, no blinding with same beam pattern. And I believe they are 2 sided. They were designed for the projector housings.
Don't blame for multi-sided led or 2-sided LED brightness, both also could work well in different condition. brightness of LED also relied on efficiency of heat dissipation, defo high temperature will resulted less brightness. Another issue is type of LED chip performance and luminous intensity of CSP/COB/DOB/Epistar/Osram, CSP is work better than ordinary COB. Beam patterns wise? it's also depend which type light reflector and lens to fit for LED.

I just cancelled an order for 3 sided led headlight after watching the first 5 mins of the video. Thanks for the information
Glad we could help!
just have ordered a day ago my H4 double light led bulb. shall i make it 32 and take it, after receiving my parcel.........man u r simply supered.
🙏
The Auxito 9012 with a thin separation of the two LEDs on either side at face value would seem to conform to your ideal LED bulb.
These are great videos, really top notch.. too bad I started watching them AFTER I bought all my led headlights. 😂
Thanks for the feedback.
Awesome input on headlamp and headlight design characteristics, thank you for the video. New Sub.
Awesome! We're glad to have you here!
One of the best educational videos in YT I reckon.
We really appreciate that, Thank you.
Last week purchased a 360 degree like the black one. Indeed a worthless light pattern. Waste of money. Thanks for this video. Wish I'd seen this video a bit sooner 😅
Sometimes we learn the hard way! Either way is ok, as long as you learned something, right?
What I find ironic is a few years ago, every RUclips video said "use projector housings for LED bulbs!" and this right here shows that wasn't the problem. I'm glad I've waited, might do some LEDs in my Malibu... you know, the one where you have to remove the entire front of the car to change the headlights? Yeah, that one.
Some of these vehicles can be such a pain! I'm glad our channel was able to help you out, Let us know if you ever need anything!
This video was very helpful I just put 4 sided led in my car and was wondering why my original lights worked better than my led so now I’m going to change them to right leds 👍
Glad it helped
Today I wasted my money buying 4D and focus is out😔
I recently found your channel and admire your knowledge of LEDs. I’ve been watching for any info I can get on buying some LED lights to upgrade the fog lights on my 2008 CTS Cadillac, regardless of price, can you recommend the best LED specifically for the fog lights of my car?
I would suggest the GTR Ultra 2 bulbs!
www.headlightrevolution.com/h11-h8-h9-ultra-series-bulbs-LED.BUL.H11.ULTRA_2
Have you ever tested LED bulb in housing that are for off road equipment? The housing that I am wondering about were reflector style and generally used a 9005 bulb. Typically they were setup to produce either a trapezoidal or flood pattern. I assume the same basic apply for the trapezoidal hosing but what about the flood?
A good set of LED bulbs should still imitate that same pattern, Especially if you go with something like the GTR Lighting Ultra Series 2 or the S-V.4
The Professor of Illumination. lol Feel like the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz when he got his 'brains'. Fantastic breakdown & explanation!
Great video and great information. I understand much better why you don't want to slap in any old LED bulb. Keep up you informative videos! Five thumbs up.
Thanks for the comment, and for your support! I am glad that this video helped, if you need anything else just let us know! Have a good one!
Wish I saw this before I bought my first set of LED headlights! Saw the same bad results you demonstrated - weak and unfocused light. DANGEROUS !!!
We’ve always been so surprised by how bad those bulbs can be, Very scary!
thanks for the video man, i was thinking to change on led bulbs but i cant choose what type buy, this clarifies me at all
You're welcome, Thank you for watching!
Thank you for watching, We do our best to try and educate people on the best possible headlights for them that won't blind oncoming traffic!
Just bought the DD SL1's for my 18' Cruze w reflectors. Large improvement over halogen & very focused.
Diode Dynamics is a solid choice.
Does this also apply to fog lights? The only fog lights that have worked properly for me are the 4 sided leds.
This would apply to any bulb used for automotive lighting.
@@HeadlightRevolution That makes sense but still, I'd personally like to see the visual beam pattern/lux difference between the S-V4 and the clones.
That would be a very useful video, I'll add it to our list of video ideas.
@@HeadlightRevolutionLike I said, I would REALLY appreciate (and I'm sure many others will too) if you make a video specifically comparing the output/quality of these bulbs, with perhaps a few others thrown in the mix.
My dad was saying 4 sided bulbs are brighter. Showed him this video and changed his mind.
Good!
You're doing amazing job. Do bad most people are idiots and just buy whatever is cheapest or has the highest number. I even know a guy who was going for an LED bulb and I told him "You're gonna blind everybody with that" .. He told me "I know, it's awesome!"
That's the last thing we want, We're doing our best to help people make good decisions for themselves AND for everyone else on the road too.
I like technical science like this. Very cool.
Thank you!!!
Thanks for the comment.
It's been confirmed the 5:28 bulb works perfect with projector headlights:
ruclips.net/video/Xe4rksyLzw0/видео.html
He says it's useless for freeform headlights as well.
That's so awesome! Thank you for the support, That means a lot to us.
This was educational. I thought if you only change the halo bulb to led was automatically gonna work
You proved you're right!!! But now I wonder, then why does these 360 bulbs exist? There weren't scientist and light engineers who took their time to make tests and research before sell something that actually doesn't work?
These bulbs are meant to fool uninformed people into thinking they're brighter!
I like how the video used some measurements, however I personally disagree with the fact that having multisided led is bad for headlights, i might agree in some regular headlights but in most modern headlights which contain a lens, it is automatically designed to gather the light into one spot
I don't even watch the parts where you explain why or why not, i just trust you so much i only need the video title
We appreciate the trust but we do recommend looking at the video for useful information.
Excellent info and demonstrations, this should help a lot of people.
Thank you for the support!
Which led color is the most comparable to a halogen bulb? Although the 6000k is a very nice, a color that's similar to a halogen might help in countries where installing leds is illegal. 3000k is to yellow, but 4000k is to white compared to a halogen... Maybe you can make a video about this subject.
4300k is going to be most comparable to a typical halogen bulb, Especially with a 55w HID ballast.
Need to try some better 2 sided bulbs! 😉
Now I know why the beam pattern on my bike looked garbage.
It's now much better as i switched to a two sided bulb.
Sweet! Glad our video helped Rahul!
Do the two-sided LED bulbs work better on projectors or reflectors? And thanks a lot for your info!
Reflectors, HID works best in projectors!
I grabbed Low and High Beam sets for my Crx! Current Hid's blind people! Have high hopes these work well!
Let us know how it goes!
@@HeadlightRevolution They worked beautiful! You can actually see the beam pattern instead of a giant wall of light. Much brighter focused area.
sadly I had to learn this lesson the hard way. multiple sets of led lights later I found that my current v7 mini h4 LED's were what I needed
I'm glad you finally got it all sorted out, That's all that matters!
great video! there are very thin bulbs with thinner heat sinks. they are almost better than halogens on reflectors.
Thanks for the comment
So i have HB4 for projector witch Led u recomand? Pls answer. Thank you
Definitely the Ultra 2.0 if you have the room!
Excellent information!!!
Thank you!
How about on a projector lens?
Great question
2 Sided bulbs will still be better for high beam applications.

well done man, what a perfect video 10/10
🙏🙏🙏
i didnt think id be addicted to watching vids bout headlights
already went with hid for low and led for high
Nice!
12:40 "Do your friends a favor. Don't let them buy this kind of 360° light output bulb"
Good advice - now I just need to get some friends 😃
Dostum mercekli farımda en iyi sonucu 360 derece led verdi. Buna ne diyorsun? 90 derece led halojenden daha kötüydü. Artık çok daha güvenli seyahat ediyorum.
Great educational video - good explanation and displays - someone who actually knows what they are doing ! Thank you
Thank you!
@@HeadlightRevolution
And I realized, it doesn't matter how low my motorcycle seating position is.
That's awesome, I'm glad you got something that works well in your Explorer!
Thanks dude I was just about to order some 4 sided bulbs and regret it
Amazing explanation thanks so much
You're very welcome!
Amazing, learned a lot with this video. Thanks!
Thanks for dumbing this down for the rest of us lol. Great video
Glad you liked it!
Beam patterns wise? it's also depend which type light reflector and lens to fit for LED.
exactly my point 💯
Very interesting, I prefer the natural light from filament bulbs
Some people do, That's totally ok!
Great video... I learn something every time I watch!!!
I'm glad you like them, Thank you for watching!
