    The Morimoto Mini D2S is hugely popular for its ease of installation, fantastic high beam performance, and compatibility with the industry standard D2S bulb type.
    ******************************
    Step 1: Remove all hardware except for the big silicone grommet and then insert the threaded shaft through the front of the reflector bowl.
    Step 2: Install the H4 adapter plate, with the notched side at 12:00 to ensure the projector's rotation is level. (Skip this step for non-H4 applications, manual rotation adjustment is required)
    Step 3: Use a wrench to tighten the lock ring onto the back of the adapter plate. Do not over-tighten, or completely tighten until you are sure this will be the last time the projector will be mounted (the threads will deform and lock on once fully tightened) Add the rubber washer behind the long ring.
    Step 4: Install the D2S bulb into the back of the projector with the return wire facing down. Then rotate the metal split-ring washer over the base of the bulb, and add the angled rubber washer behind that (angled side down).
    Step 5: Clamp the bulb into place using the bulb cap, this only needs to be hand-tight.
    Step 6: Test fire the bi-xenon solenoid mechanism 30-40 times to be sure that the hinges are still sliding as they should be. Since this mechanism is made of fairly thin metal, it is important not to disturb it during the installation to avoid future sticking issues.
    Step 7: Install shroud using JB weld and centric rings.

    what would be the best choice for a 2003 civic ex em1? I was trying to compare the Morimoto D2S and the Morimoto h1. I like the plug in part from the ds2 from the ballast to the bulb, and is there any difference between the two?

    I've did two TRS Mini D2S 2.0 installations for friends, and the cutoff was not even close to level. I had to bake and take them apart again. That adapter ring on 1:56 in the video is not built right. That tooth that fits into the notch on the projector's threaded extension needs to be indexed over about 6 or 7 degrees to match the tilt on an H4 bulb. Is TRS going to make correctly machined ones in the future? If TRS is going to fix this, will they be available for sale in the future?

    Good informative video! I have a question if you'd be so kind to answer.
    I'm looking into HID's for my 2014 honda civic si coupe, which bulbs/kits would you recommend? I'm not very knowledgable about the HID kits... i'm just looking for something that has 5.5k bulbs, with projectors.
    Also how does that work for low and high beams? Do I need different sets to have hids for both? Realistically I only want low beam HIDS, but do not want my high beam functionality to be disabled.

    • @theretrofitsourceinc6346
      @theretrofitsourceinc6346 8 лет назад

      +David Nguyen We typically recommend a bi-xenon system even if you dont need it, like the Morimoto Mini H1 Stage III kit. This way you can have double high beams, and still dont compromise the low beam performance. Those projectors are also small and easy to install in a compact headlight like your Si has. Give us a ring at 404-220-7940 or email support@theretrofitsource.com, we'll be happy to make a detailed recommendation!

    Nice job! What do you recommend for my Mitsubishi Evolution x gsr?? Definitely want the brightest light bulb out there. I'm buying the Chinese made vland headlight and tailights convection.
    Any thoughts? Thank you, Victor Nishimoto

      Victor - Give us a call at 404-220-7940 or email support@theretrofitsource.com with any particular questions, we're glad to help!
      If we can get a visual on what's inside those Vland headlights (projector wise) we can make a recommendation on what will work best to replace it. Most likely its a variant of the Mini D2S 3.0

    Hello. I'm doing a conversion from H7 to D2S for my VW CC and I'm using the Morimoto d2s 4.0 with Panamera Switchback. I'm a little confused as to where the solenoid wires should be connected to. Can you help explain?

  • @yeysbaws

    I searched this type of video to see why retrofitting your headlights is so expensive. Now I know why. It's not because people are afraid to do it, but how much time and labor it takes to install and put it back together scares people away and let pros do it instead.

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  4 года назад

      That’s very true! It is a lot of work sometimes.

  • @CJ-fh5xq

    So is the solenoid for the cutoff shield use for HighBeam use? I am looking to use these for my foglights so would I still need to connect to those wires?

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  4 года назад

      Our Matchbox projectors might be a better choice for a fog light application, They are much smaller. If you use this projector, It's up to you whether or not you want to use the high beam solenoid wiring.

    Sounds stupid, but im making some new lights up, i want to wire up 3 of these a headlight. Was hoping to ask you some questions on installation etc? As there would be 6 in total, how would i wire them all back into the main harness and would that overload the system?

    • @theretrofitsourceinc6346
      @theretrofitsourceinc6346 8 лет назад

      +Jonathan Uy Yes, we would suggest the morimoto Mini H1 7.0 Bi-xenon for your Fiesta with H7's since they're more appropriate for vehicles with H7 reflector headlights, easy to install!

      It should match up to your high beam connections.

  • @amjathkhan2004
    @amjathkhan2004 6 лет назад

    Thanks. I don’t really understand the purpose of marking on the wall before the installation. These projectors have threaded shafts for direct installation. So, in that case we cannot adjust the beams even it’s above or below the markings right? Or am I missing something?

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  6 лет назад

      Yeah, the marking on the wall will give you the reference for the original height and rotation. After the retrofit is completed, you can set the rotation of the new projector accurately, and the height the same too.

    • @amjathkhan2004
      @amjathkhan2004 6 лет назад

      Thanks fro replying. I can understand the rotation part, but how to set the height?! Is there something like an adjustment screw that I'm missing? All I can see is a projector with a threaded shaft being fitted directly to the reflector housing without bolts and nut. Once again, thanks for helping me out understand the 'set heights' part better.

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  6 лет назад

      Yes, the projector mounts into a reflector, which is on pivot points with an adjustment screw attached to it. Once the headlights are installed back in the vehicle, you can adjust their height using the adjustment tool on top of the light.

    • @amjathkhan2004
      @amjathkhan2004 6 лет назад +1

      Thanks. Is there any video of you showing how to adjust the height/beams? Being a first time installer, I don't even know where that screw is located : -)
