Ive been a subscriber to Farmhouse on Boone for awhile, but today I just found this channel. I really really needed to hear this today. It's nice when people are honest and are real about life.
Okay, I'm only about 5 min's into this Pod Cast and the very first questions about What are your kids going to think , when they get into the real world, annoys me. I grew up in a very small town, very small. The closest town was 13 MI one way and the other was 8. No Target, l only Walmart. I live in the city now. My question would be, What's so great about the REAL world ? !
First thing I want to tell you is I love your channel and RUclips! I am an empty nester. We raised our 4 children in the big city. I was raised in the country. I LOVED. country life. I don’t think you need to apologize for where and how you are raising your children. You involve them, you love them and they look happy! We all know, no child is perfect, nor any parent. But we all are trying to do the best we can with the knowledge we have and the grace from God. So I encourage you to take some of those comments with a grain of salt! 💕
Just love this - what a comparison squashed in the best way! Thanks for sharing the normalness of your life, but I still love the motivation of the beautiful posts
My in-laws don't budget and they kinda raised my husband that way. So we pay our bills and pay attention to what where our account is but we don't budget specifically. We will decide things like if we need to spend less at Costco or we need to make sure we plan birthdays or Christmas or clothing needs or homeschool needs but we don't sit down and write out how much we will spend on everything each month. We are frugal and keep communication so I think this helps. My mom however is strict on budgets and when I met my husband I was more detailed with bills and balancing my checkbook regularly. So we met in the middle and it works for us.
I also dont know what I spend on projects, but like you I am naturally frugal and dont spend unless I need to. I will do a project because I find some fabric that I love in a thrift store ( or charity shop as we phrase it in UK) etc. I will look on Facebook marketplace for something that will suit an idea I have in mind. It is great to hear that I am not the only one who does this.
