I am with you. First time I heard this song was in junior high school, perhaps in 1989 or 1990
I'm lip reading
We may have been the last generation to really enjoy our youth. No Cell phones, social media , hyper connectivity , radical groups , massive student loan debt .Just friends, hard work and great music!
you are so right . i would have kept trying to reach my rock n roll dreams . i play guitar . not much anymore but i miss it . the 80s were and are always the greatest . these days , women strip naked and cant sing and make millions . wtf happened ?
80s kids also had it worse than future generations in many ways. Hell, I had to dig through an encyclopedia to learn anything. Education is way more fun and interesting these days. The 80's were different. Current generations are different. Each are better and worse in different ways. Just because something is different doesn't make it worse by default.
Yep! I miss the 80s. Not much of a kix fan but the time was a great time to be in your teens!
most important tho, no pandemic :C
@@deransadventures Take this from a current high school student, education is not fun or interesting these days, I guarantee education was better in the ‘80s.

Depressing. The kids of today will never experience music as we did.
I'm playing the greats from the 80's for my 5 year old daughter and 10 year old son. They love this music.

I hear this song, and I can REMEMBER the feeling of being a teen in the 80s, it was ALL about the weekend. I miss it. Summertime in the 80s was magical ✨️ 💛
We were kings back then .the whole world was waiting for us.. ❤️

Yup, especially summer of '85. I was a huge dreamer then.
It was definitely the best time to grow up.

The 80's metal scene was like no other. The greatest generation of music ever written. It'll never be matched.
Yes it can be matched just don't strike it 😕
@tonyreaudio6579 No, unfortunately, those days are gone. The 80s were wild. The scene will never be matched again. The music, the party scene, the concerts, and the money that was made in the industry were phenomenal. Today, tours are being canceled because of the cost and not enough profits involved. Back then, we bought the whole album and not just a song or two off the web. It's gone it'll never be like that again.
Exactly what I was thinking
it is a fucking shame. tech has destroyed the world@@timmiller745

Nothing, and I mean nothing will touch 80's rock and metal. The power and emotion will never be touched. So glad I grew up to this!! Had this cranked up on cassette in a 68 Mustang heading to Pensacola beach with this blasting. Memories forever!
As far as mainstream music goes, you are absolutely right. Mainstream (chart topping) rock at that time actually took talent to create and the songs often had some sort of meaning or soul. Also, even popular groups didn't try to be so formulaic. I'd also include some mainstream rock from the early 90's. By '94 or '95 mainstream radio (rock radio) started going down fast.
@@Lunatic4Bizcas I agree
Best Era ever
American cars looked beautiful especially from the mid 50s to the early 70s. Something happened in the 80s and 90s (cough environmental standards cough) which removed the identity from them.

Whatcha doing out in the night time
Why'd ya' call me on the phone
Your mama can't solve your problems
When's daddy ever gonna get home
So you did your little move and cried
In the middle of a suicide
Don't close your eyes
Don't close your eyes
Don't sing your last lullaby
There's no one there to hold you
No one hears your scream
You live life up and down
Your nightmare's are your dreams
I know it's lonely when your hanging 'round
Don't ya' take it lying down - no, no
Hold on - Hold on tight
I'll make everything all right
Wake up - Don't go to sleep
I pray the lord your soul to keep
Don't close your eyes

Song about suicide?
@@austindenotter191988
At the end of last year, I was in a very dark place. I sat on the floor of my closet, crying and wishing I could disappear forever. I fell asleep that night on the floor of my closet. The next day, this song popped up on a playlist I had created years ago. Then Silent Lucidity came on. My dad has always sang that song to me, even before I was born. It was the universe saying it would be ok. I now have a reason to live. She will be born in July. I sing to her all the time.
Please, if you are depressed or feeling like you want to die, please talk to someone. Your light still shines so bright. Even when you don't see it.
People think suicide is always a mentally ill person taking a permanent way out of a temporary problem. I have come to believe that some people at a certain time feel their life has been completed. They have done it all, etc.. theres nothing more left to do really at a certain point. Society makes us think differently, dating at a 150 ( lol) or whatever all sorts of illogical foolishness. Not condoning it or saying I am.. just easier to understand that way. Further more the person is gone and the answer is they were nuts or mentally ill? People!....lol

Ok so i just listened again..and is now my ring tone lol..thanks for the likes..its great music to listen too😁❤.. Plus a lot of the other 80's music too. GNR is coming up here in August..def leopard, joan jett, poison and motley crew is coming if i remember this month...

These guys were so underrated but they were a kick ass band I love them!!
They really were underrated. I was going through a terrible time when this song came out. It validated my feelings & helped keep me going. I was feeling down today, & came to listen. Weird how those old traumas come back to bite you every now & then. ♾️♾️✌️❤️🙏✝️😍
My greatest Kix song of all time! I went through a lot of suicidal thoughts when this song came out and it would help me through tough times!!! I love y’all Kix!!!!
I think this song help save a lot of people
Hang tough Sassy🤘🏾
richard giudice I’m doing my best!!
@@sassykaren7587 that's all you can do✊
Let's talk Sassy. This was during a time that defines us! Hold on and grow in faith, hope and Love. Peace, all the survivors!
while everyone is doing songs about having a good time and partying and having a good time with the ladies.... this dudes come out and make a suicide prevention song..RESPECT !!!
God bless this band. They changed my life, I became a musician because them and a select few others.
Me too. I started playin' bass Sept of 1980 was in basement bands & enjoyed the 80s. I'm still playin' bass today some 42 years later. Long live the 80s.
@@markdinnauer888 When I was young I thought things would go on forever. But I realize now that we grew up in a really amazing, short window of history. The radio stations I grew up listening to are gone. They were around for close to 50 years and they vanished, it’s so weird. I would have loved to have been born 12 or 14 years earlier (I was born in early ‘79) so I could have had more time.
A lost forgotten gem from the 80s. Such a truthful power ballad dealing with suicide.
This has just been one of the greatest songs of my life, high school,,, 30 years later,, it just hammers my soul!!! Freaking love it
Speaking of "Hammers"... God I miss that place.
So glad I grew up in the 80s.
We did our homework right after school if we weren't on a school sports team so we could get into the local woods and creeks to have beebee gun wars go swimming and otherwise just have fun and mess about in our woods and creeks. Kids these days will never know that type of freedom, sadly.
Truth was the best 👌
A brutally underrated rock band of the last decade of great music.
👍🇬🇾
A time when music had a meaning, Today only empty meaningless garbage
Did you see the garbage they showed as "music" during the last Superbowl. Definition of meaningless garbage you referenced.
I will make the come back...
I am 23 and have a band...
I dream to be like those 80s bands and we have the sound stage present and the looks just waiting to record but the songs I have wrote will make you guys think it's the 80's all over
GNR Kix Def Leppard Cinderella Quiet Riot Ozzy Osbourne White lion Iron Maiden Areosmith Poison Motorhead Great White I could go on an on an on for days with 80's music the best ever
It’s no wonder so many kids are a mess today. They have no music. 😂
@@sashasavisha146 You're so right.
I would put this song right next to the biggest hits from the 80s. KIX was an awesome band !!!
There will never be a decade like the 80’s again. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻. I had the time of my life.
I’m 50 yrs. And I STILL LOVE MY HAIR BANDS. The songs NEVER get old. And every 1 has a great memory to me.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi 50 yrs. I'm dad!
@@ErikBAnderson Hi Dad. I'm mom from New Jersey
I've listened to this song so many times with no issue before, I'm 31 years old, and tonight when I listened, it's like I'm a socially awkward kid after finding out i had depression, dealing with depression since I was 8. I'm so thankful for this song, I totally respect the people who want to make a stance, I love this.
Grew up and actually opened for them as a young band in the Cumberland MD area . Love these guys.!!!! Rock On!!!
Cool. I live In Cumberland. I remember watching Funny Money perform after Kix disbanded.
This song send chills down my spine ,fought the good fight god bless salute
I would love to go back and start over in the 80s. would follow my dreams instead of listening to others...
Absolutely.
90’s for me I was born is 75 but 90’s was excellent music
I wish I could go back to the 80s when I didn't exist.
I was in the same predicament as you!! Listening to others as to what they thought my life should be and how to live according to their high standards!! Gratuated high school in 86, miss the music!! The hair bands of the 80s, to this day nothing even comes close!!
Amen
Nothing like the power ballads anymore.
Growing up in the 80's was the best!! The best music of all time!!
I’m a 90’s kid, but love the 80’s Hair Metal!!! This song has helped me through some dark times!!! Great message!!
This song came out when I was 14. I felt like they were talking to me, since my life was pretty horrible. When I was at my worst, and everything seemed worthless, I would listen to this song, and it seemed like they were talking to me all over again. We need more music like this.
Sorry to hear this, when I heard this song today it brought me tears, those years in the 80’s were the best
I'm glad you're still here, man. I just said a prayer for you.
I was 17 when this came out..I was in a hospital cause I tried to off myself, and my best friend at the time played this for me crying..I'm 49 and mostly glad I'm here..
Ditto
Bro I feel ya.
This song doesn't get enough credit for being the 1st song about suicide. Unknown Classic for sure... 2019 🤘
@@Lainy_Donlon may I communicate with u in future
That's true.
*Lainy* from what I can remember an that’s not much lmfao this was the hottest 80’s suicide song in Cali at that time... 🙏 for ✌️
@@deandoss2105 I remember watching this video on MTV! LoL! When MTV played music videos! One of my favorite 80's songs ever! ✌&❤
Suicide Solution came out 8 years before this.
Who’s listening to this in 2023?
Ahem...2024
Annoying how it’s off Spotify
@joeylemieux6076 no it's not. I listened to it yesterday on spaotify, and all week quite frankly
🙋♀️
@@joeylemieux6076 it ain't, I just listened to it today bro...
My sister shot herself in 1989 with my mother's handgun. She was 14. I was 15 and ran to addiction to ease the pain. I remember playing this over and over and cried many tears. I miss her so much
I'm sorry trust me I care amen Bless you amen thank you Jesus amen ❤❤❤
Awful man. Stay strong she would want that. You’ll see her again one day
Peace be with you.
This is the power ballad of all power ballads. I feel every note of the masterful solo. Steve's voice blows me away. I miss this type of music and these types of musicians.
Definitely a Power Ballad. Lyrically speaking, probably the best, an extremely close second "Give something to believe in" Poison but Instrumentally not as Powerful.
One of the best songs if not the best by Kix. Love this song and that band. I grew up with these guys and it’s so cool to hang with them every now and then still to this day.
Where you from
I'm 60. So glad I grew up and was a young adult in this Era. Watching bands, playing in bands, no social media. No cell phones. Just a phone call to your besties and meeting up later at your favorite spot to watch local bands or play a gig... We truly had the best music. The metal scene was fantastic.
I REALLY miss the 80s
34 years later , and that pain is still buried down there though...and I guess it just won't ever really go away
That darkness never does go away, not entirely. All we can do is move on from it, and look for the good shit in life to offset the bad...stay strong, brother.
Jerry, I understand the pain, same boat.. 🙏 I care remember that..we are not alone
Damn! 63 years old, just dropped the grandkids off with mama. Fire up a bowl, hit the Skid Row, Warrant, and now this. I'm in 88 again. Fuck yeah You Tube!! Thanks!
A classic that will always have a place in my heart! Thank you Kix ❤
The great 80's will never be replicated, for those of us who lived it, the greatest era there ever will be.
I’m 29 years old, an old Ukrainian man showed me this song the other day and I can’t stop singing it haha.
