Dynamic performance! It seemed like an homage to the great Josephine Baker. Some technical issues, like ALL the other competitors, but this was the BEST SHORT PROGRAM of these Olympics.
Folks may say she was unpolished, but she WAS a 9x French Champion, 5x European Champion, and 3x World Silver Medalist. What does that say about the others? So many of her competitors NEVER even got close enough to smell a podium. 😁
This performance definitely should have been second behind Nancy, not third for many reasons. She along with Nancy were the only two women in the event with a clean Triple lutz combo, double flips and double axels. Her footwork may not be great as Chen or Yuka or other skaters but considering the music selection, the maturity she had over Oksana and the overall energy of this program, I personally would have had this over Baiul. Some people have also mentioned the spirals aren't great because of the extensions but if you look closely, she's doing some of them from one foot and not changing feet which is extremely difficult to do.
The previous season and this season was when she was working with a choreographer regularly, you could really see it in her movements and how her strengths were highlighted in the two programs.
The footwork sequence had good speed and went with the music quite well but a good footwork sequence should have turns going in both directions. I do agree though that she should've placed 2nd here in the sp.
she was technickly so superior to the others...she should have wun the short programm...certain judges gave better marks in technical merit to oksana, and it s just scandalous
Tristan Ferguson Presentation! Speed! Interpretation of music. The flow in and out of the lutz. Spins. Should I go on? Surya 1st, Kerrigan 2, and Oksana 3rd. It is a technical program after all.
@@mikelara2151 We'll have to agree to disagree. To my eyes, she lacks speed, has virtually no flow and the Lutz was landed almost at a standstill. The spins were poor and the spiral and footwork sequences were dreadful. Yes she was charismatic and had a lot of energy but she was lucky to win so much in her career.
Tristan Ferguson omg. Are you serious? Surya has the only lutz that flowed in and out. Yes she delayed entrance into the axel but overall the program was very good. I just watched Kerrigans and it is also good. I just loved the excitement and newness that Surya program brought to the ice.
You're jaded. Oksana Baiul was far from polished and Nancy Kerrigan was as insipid as they come. Was this performance impeccable? No, but neither was any other.
Her best program ever, IMO. She really connected with her music here and the energy was great!

absolutely haters stop hating....
@@scottietoohottie5273 she's also the girl who crashed into Oksana almost killing her. And 2 other skaters
@@erictyson5947 Nope that was Tanja Szewcenko or Laetita Hubert. Not Surya.

Bonaly was just too fierce for her own time.

Costume, music, energy! All enjoyable
How was this placed Behind Oksana Baiul who had the double foot on the Lutz in the short...Hahahahah
Ahead of her time. V charismatic, flexible, good jumper and spinner and a lot more musical and lyrical than I remember.
Surya's technical and presentation were very good. I gave it 5.9 to 6.0 🙏🤗⛸⛸👏👏👏🌷🌷🌷🥇❤
I could never skate in those earrings!
Well-done Surya, High scores.

She's the skater who crashed into Oksana and 2 other skaters injuring all 3
This should have been 1st place after the short. Period.
Why? What required element here was better than Kerrigan's? And let's not even talk about the skating skills and presentation.

@@mikelara2151 she almost killed Oksana when she intentionally crashed into her during practice and the other 2 skaters she hit
Music???? Performance ❤
Seriously people? The spiral sequence alone is enough to mark her down and the footwork was pretty simple.
Shut up
@Chutson353 Kerrigan had better flow and 'in between' skating skills than Surya-as did Oksana. But she did a great job here.
I love Surya, but that was all toe pick pushes and skating on the flats. Her technique was trash.
