I don't know if I would have made it so tight that that last tube has to be pounded in. Won't that negate any expansion room when the shell lifts? And if you fuse them with white half second fuse so they all basically go up at once aren't you at risk of cracking one or more of those tubes? I mean they are Not HDPE. I was taught that when finished you should be able to spin/turn the tubes with two fingers easily. That would be enough room for a little expansion and avoid cracks or other catastrophic event. Just my thoughts. Nice quick build though. What about the base? Do you add a bigger footprint so it can stand alone? How do you use those 10 shot racks?
Great instructional video John. I was checking out the large racks you had lined up in the back there. I am very jealous. Cant wait to start shooting 1.3.
You know I think Viper shells canister has a wood plug and the tube is made very well! I also found that Night Gallery Canister tubes are not sorry made a mistake. I am sure that 5" mega is made the same way as the viper made by flashing fireworks! I also used a hole saw rather than knock off the bottom plate using a 3" hole saw after making a template. I screw it to the bottom and drill through and not much to clean up with a 60 grit belt sander, put them in the rack and your good to go. I just think by hitting that hard you might compromise in material that's inside the tube!
Hey John like tell you I saw video that show what happen to these type of racks. Where they will not withstand an explosion! I saw something on Pyro Universe and may help you one day and many others out there. The side rail should be OSB on the bottom rail and the Top rail Plywood. They will withstand an explosion. I think you might check it out and update your video so no one will get hurt. I thought just like yourself that this was the best way to build a rack but they have proven me wrong. You see the OSB will give a little and keep the Mortar in tack and the top rail being Plywood will not come apart and allow the tube to keep firing. rather than being scatter with the shells still loaded. This happen to me over the 4th this year. I don't know who load the shells it may have been upside down. But it could have been real bad. Luckily I was with some that had a lot more experience, he ran grab the tube pulled all the shells out and they were still live and nobody got hurt. So please everyone be careful. There was a big crowd at this show just think if one of those shell had gone into the crowd. Okay
Thanks. I havent quite decided where theyll go. I have about 8 racks in different amounts of mortars, totaling around 150. I think last year i shot them all before finishing off with high falutin.
High falutin is a really nice cake. I personally don't use cakes in my finale anymore. It's just to hard to have all the cakes stop at the same time lol
Hard to say really I have some with 30 or more shots out of them and they seem fine. The one that blew out on me only had about 20. I have put my tubes through hell tho with my modded shells lol. I would say just check them before you use them and see if the plug is loose. If it's loose just get rid of it. I check mine when I'm cleaning them out from the last shoot.
john walters I’ve been trying lol I’ve found some real nice rockets and some smaller salutes but still haven’t found any cans I know you’re on the west side of the state but let me know if you know of any spots in south east Michigan
Yep thats what i do but up a mountain been cutting out level spots on the hill for pods and racks i am having a close up show wheels and fountains then mid mountain 200-300g cakes top of the mountain is the good stuff .
I make mine tight enough so the tubes can still be pulled out but not bouncing around. If your asking about how close racks can be together for a finale. I set mine right against each other for the fastest possible burn time.
Hello John. Nice collection of guns. When you did your giveaway I almost added 100 more to my guess just for shits and giggles. Almost thought I had it. It's all good,, I have a king of Boom tee shirt and a hoodie. Thanks for the chance. I still need 3 more shell kits but on social security dissibility and money is tight. Anyway have a great and safe holiday
john walters Thanks for the welcome John. I enjoy your videos and demos. Will be applying for my class b license hopefully next month after things slow down and get some money saved up. Dave from Display Fireworks 1 Mailed me a application.. I have 10 acres near Gladwin where I can shoot and will be having my yearly party up their.
The property is out near the state forest near m -30 in Gladwin. . We did have a place on wixom lake Wich was great to shoot over the water but we got rid of it. Now just the 10
Thanks for the video. I'm curious why most of the builds I'm finding don't have any bottom stabilizer. So you've never had a rack tip over after going off?
This is just the basic rack build. The legs will depend on how you want to shoot them. If I only have one 10 shot by itself. I screw 1by 4 on the base to form a T.
Great video...I am looking at ordering some fiberglass tubes from Alibaba to start with. I will definitely save tubes from the kits I will buy to add to that.
Pvc is fine unless ur going 4inch or larger I use pvc for my 3 inch morter tube I took a bucket then poured like 4inch deep hydraulic cement stick pipe in wait about 7 mins then the pipe should be plugged and standing straight up the pour a few more inches of regular cement let dry then ur good to go 3 inch
Sometimes when you buy them unplugged they will offer the plugs as well the you just put them in. If not you can buy the wood dowel rod from home Depot or alike store. Cut the plug at 2" pound in the tube and staple it.
Yeah, hanging on to a clay plugged single shot tube after firing it isn't such a great idea. That's all they're designed for. One shot. Same goes after firing off a kit that only came with one clay plugged mortar tube. Myself, I throw them into the trash after they've reached their life expectancy. Those with wooden plugs ? I re-staple them before repurposing them for rack use.
I like guns.. 9mm Glock 17.. no kick.. standard 9mm.. OH WAIT NVM.. I got paid $25.00 to build a 10 shot rack which only costs $12-14.00 to make.. I have about 6 racks.. gotta build 1-2 more.
Looks like your using a baby saw... I have a bigger 15" Miter Saw but I can never lift it onto it's stand.. WAAAYYY too heavy.. about 120lbs.. maybe I'm just weak.. :(.. lol

How many shots can you get out of a fiberglass tubes, the lifespan?
When fusing your racks, how closely are shells timed going off? Are they immediately after one another or do u lime a second or 2 between shots?
It really depends on where it will be in the show. Sometimes I get them going as fast as possible and others 3 to 4 sec between shots.
Thanks. I havent quite decided where theyll go. I have about 8 racks in different amounts of mortars, totaling around 150. I think last year i shot them all before finishing off with high falutin.

This video was awesome
Thanks man!!!
I do the same with my fiberglass tubes. Question tho...how many seasons are they "safe" to use?

Thanks brother!!!
I’ve seen your canister shell comparison and was wondering if you have any idea where I can find some of those grey cans they looked pretty nice
I'd start shopping around man. Hit all the shops and tents you can find. Your bound to find something good.
john walters I’ve been trying lol I’ve found some real nice rockets and some smaller salutes but still haven’t found any cans I know you’re on the west side of the state but let me know if you know of any spots in south east Michigan
Wherever you got the rockets should have the hook up on shells or know where to get them.
I noticed that your base is the same width as the rack itself...how do you keep it from tipping over?
I use the drops from the 1x4 and screw them to the side of the rack so the base is a T.It makes for a nice stable base.
Have you had a chance to demo those new Juiced shells? If so, what are your thoughts?
I have them but haven't been able to demo them off yet. I'll have a vid up soon tho
What diameter hdpe pipe should I get for 4/5/6” canister shells and what lengths should I cut them for my racks , making my first couple tomorrow
Get dr11 hdpe. Standard is 12 in. In length.
Nice videos 👍👍👍👍😘😚😍
Thanks my friend!
Cool i use a 2x4 along the bottom as well i like to angle my 10 shot racks in runs of 30
I used 2x4 base on my cough... bigger pipe. we will be hauling all this down a dune to the beach to shoot. I'll set my angle up on site.
Yep thats what i do but up a mountain been cutting out level spots on the hill for pods and racks i am having a close up show wheels and fountains then mid mountain 200-300g cakes top of the mountain is the good stuff .
Tell me your going to get video of it. It sounds amazing!
OO ya cam mounted to the top of a house some drone footage might get a copy right ding for the music tho .
I can't wait to see it man!
How tight can your racks be with fiber glass mortars?
I make mine tight enough so the tubes can still be pulled out but not bouncing around. If your asking about how close racks can be together for a finale. I set mine right against each other for the fastest possible burn time.
home depot in the morning. i have 250 shells to shoot on the 4th- thank you!
Welcome hope it helped!!!!
The hammer method doesn’t knock the plugs out?
I don’t have an issue with that. Sometimes they will use a small wood plug that can come out but I just glue them back in.
Nice vid. I use HDPE tubes for our racks. #welikeitloud
I'm slowly building up my HD stock lol
Good

Did you end up ordering from Alibaba.com?
scott duncan no, the shipping price is insane. I ordered 25 dr9 and 25 dr11 from PYROBOOM.com to start with. We shall see how my hobby goes.
@@noobpyrotech9991 thanks
Love your work, man. Thanks for sharing.
Can i just go and get fiberglass pip from homedepot and use that to make a rack
I didn't know they sold fiberglass pipe. DO NOT USE PVC!
Have you ever had a shell flower pot before. pvc shatters, sends shrapnel and can be deadly
Yeah, PVC works great until you have a mortar blow in the tube and make a grenade.
True but I all ways used pvc unless it was bigger then 3 inch
Those tubes look like they were from the 5" Nemesis super shell kit.
Yes they were. Awesome shell kit!
@@johnwaltersThey most certainly are!!!
Where did u get the hd pipe
Unfortunately the company I bought from is out of business.
I’m a welder do you think having racks made out of steel tubing would be safe? I have everything i need to make one just wondering your thoughts.
Steel pipe woul be safe however the weight of the racks would be something to consider.
I’m I get tubes that aren’t plugged how do I plug them myself
Sometimes when you buy them unplugged they will offer the plugs as well the you just put them in. If not you can buy the wood dowel rod from home Depot or alike store. Cut the plug at 2" pound in the tube and staple it.
U could just liquid nail the tubes to a 1 by 8 with the stand on it
I've screwed them down before in the " poor mans fashion" and did the shoot in my yard. Now I need something that's portable and packable.
As someone who turns wrenches for a living, you smooth work was very satisfying
From one fellow wrencher to another I thank you.
@@johnwalters unfortunately you're no designer you do not use one inch board on the bottom
Do you have any schematics on a five shot 3 inch HDPE tube rack?
I don't sorry.

😆🎆🎇🚀💣 Fireworks - Fireworks - And More Fireworks 😆🎆🎇🚀💣
There can never be to many fireworks!!!
use fine thread screws. Wont have to do pilots.
I wasn't aware they made a fine thread wood screw.
Kick ASS Drill
Thanks man I like them!
I do the same thing I have 65 ..Ten shot racks that I built and 10 six shot racks from Pyroboom.com
That's a lot of boom!
Can I get the measurements please?
The measurements will be different with consumer fiberglass tubes. They never seem to make them the same size. each rack will very a bit.
Just as an example: ID: 1.8125" (1-13/16), OD: 2.125" ( 2-1/8), Len: 12.5"
Hi
I like guns.. 9mm Glock 17.. no kick.. standard 9mm.. OH WAIT NVM.. I got paid $25.00 to build a 10 shot rack which only costs $12-14.00 to make.. I have about 6 racks.. gotta build 1-2 more.

Looks like your using a baby saw... I have a bigger 15" Miter Saw but I can never lift it onto it's stand.. WAAAYYY too heavy.. about 120lbs.. maybe I'm just weak.. :(.. lol
lol my 12" works just fine man. I should have got a bigger table saw tho.
I just use a large belt sander to get the glue off.. hehe
I really hate fiberglass and hate making dust from it. That stuff make me itch like I have poison ivy
Yeah.. I get about 30 free fiberglass mortars when I go to hooksett fireworks.. I just built my 15 shot fanned rack..
Everything is built wrong bro
