  • In this video, I show how I built my 18 shot fan rack with mortar tubes from Pyroboom and spare wood.
Note: This is not an instructional video. If you chose to build your own, you do so at your own risk. I make no guarantees on the design, it is just my design and a video showing how I built my own fan rack.

Use 2"x3"s for the base and uprights, 1"x3"s for the side rails. Fasten with construction screws.

Since u are using tubes from Pyroboom, Which I use also. I secure my tubes in my racks by screwing the tubes to the bottom plate of the rack. It now is very safe.

nice job. I don't make fans, thy are heavy. I would stake um with an angle in the ground with rebar on site.

Have you ever had the wood break or crack? Is there a type of wood you would recommend or stay away from?

MasterChief0522 actually, the bottom board on one of the sides cracked this year. All the shells went up fine as the sides stayed in tact we’ll, just cracked the bottom board. I'll replace it before next year with something a little thicker.

One of the longer ones that help to stabilize the rack? My main concern is the board holding the tubes. I want to build a fan rack, but I'm wondering if I need to add support beneath the tubes since they're sitting at an angle rather than flat on the ground.

MasterChief0522 it was the board under the tubes on one of the angled sides. Instead of a 1 inch board, I will switch to a 2 inch board, which will be the same board I used for the vertical sides holding the tubes.
