- I finally got my hands on the Gator Rack from Pyro Boom! Below is their description of the rack. This rack was given to me in exchange for making a video on it. No other compensation was given. Overall, I really liked this rack. I ended up weighing this rack at 17.6 lbs, which is ironically the exact same weight as my 10-shot rack from Pro Pyro Racks that you have seen in a lot of my videos.
These Gator Racks by PYROBOOM are the Toughest Rack on the Planet™. The frame of these mortar racks is made from Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) prime grade #1, the strongest Pine species. This type of wood is extremely durable and often used for wooden flooring. The unique teeth design on the bottom rail makes these racks special. With this tested "Gator Teeth" design, it gives a failed shell an open exit path, which we call energy displacement. The extra wide (1.5") secured spacers allow plenty of room between each tube just in case the shell explodes in the tube. These racks are amazingly strong and you won't find a better-built rack anywhere else!

Even Eric's MUGS are sturdy!! I bought some of the Gorilla racks to try and I love them! The new OctoRack looks awesome and I can't wait to send up some shells in that! The Gator's do look great. Those Echo in the Ears are nice! I just loaded them up to hopefully send up on Memorial day!

Yeah, time has not been my friend for the last 6 months and I do not see it changing in the near future unfortunately. As long as I can periodically get content out there and am enjoying it, I'm okay with it haha

Echo In The Ear are the real deal. All of the 5 inch canister shells that we've ever shot at our firing field has left me wandering around picking up 1 inch tall circular pieces of cardboard. I pick them up so the landowner doesn't have to chop them with his zero radius mower. Nothing to pick up with Echo In The Ear because the shells gets blown to shreds. 😆👍💥
That’s a great looking rack and yes I got a lesson in rack building when I met up with den in southern Nevada. I will be incorporating some of this racks features in my future rack builds. Great demo

Love the echo shells, always make sure to get a couple cases if I can find them locally

Wow. $16 bucks for a sleeve of 6. That’s not bad at all for those shells. Just saw um at phantom has um for like $80. Bogo tho so still like 40 a pop.
For what it's worth I think a space at the ends is not necessary for 1.75 display shells. Big snowball shells, well. 2x4"s are good enough to take it with good rails of course.. Now for 3" ID guns, that is another thing. Still a nice rack.

Aww - this means I have to abandon all my original 10-shot racks that are the Joel Robinson special.... from at this point - 9 or 10 years ago... - Thanks for the video....PS - those shells were really nice - haven't shot them in quite some time but seems quite symmetrical for canisters...
I still have a bunch of those racks too, but they only come out during the 4th, if at all. I need to make an updated video on that too lol.

I would be interested to see what a detonation in the end tubes would actually do... or shoot, detonation in all the tubes to see if it holds up!

The Echo shells are a gem!!. The best consumer shells in my opinion since I can remember. ✌🏼

That seems like a lot of size, weight, and expense to hold up six guns. My show has 360 guns. These racks would cost more than the fireworks.

A bit of hyperbole in the title. If it ain’t been tasted with a Cato…then it’s just speculation. That notwithstanding, just about any rack will survive a Cato with that much tube spacing.
But hey, some people will STILL argue it’s not strong enough or whatever. 😄🙄
Lol, used their title of the rack for the video. They have pictures of catos in the rack where only the single tube shows damage. I want to get more cycles through the rack before I attempt a cato haha
I'm going to start building my own soon here and maybe even start selling them.
I was actually hoping you’d put the thing to the test. What I hate about Eric is how much of a contradictory person he is. Here he is with “the safest rack in the consumer market” but then goes and sells double sided tape cardboard for a consumer cake board as though the cake isn’t going to blow right through the cardboard on grass…. So supposedly the safest but gives the consumer the idea that the safest is a piece of cardboard with double sided tape. Not to mention the risk of a fire from the cardboard being flammable and the cakes being susceptible to catching fire after they’ve lit. If you’re gonna go that route save yourself the money, buy an industrial roll of double sided tape, and get some free pizza boxes from little Caesars after feeding the crew…. So I think he’s very hypocritical and extremely egotistical when he isn’t selling only the safest on the market. Kind of false impression to the consumer. And that’s a big issue to the consumer since we’re dealing with explosives. Not toys.

@@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics it looks like he finally took it down after a little reviewing his website again. About a year ago he had a cardboard box with double sided tape for sale on it as a “cake board” I pointed out the flaws with the design on pyro universe. I ended up getting thrown out over that. Had to laugh about it because the place was a terrible joke to begin with. But what stuck with me was that I had respectfully commented about the design flaws and he took it as a stab to his ego and went off about it. Like I wasn’t trying to take clients away from him. I mean we’ve all done janky things. But where I had my issue with him was when he blew up at me over it. Let that ego take control and just go to town. Almost as if I had no right to talk about safety due to something he’d heard about me which was only hearsay to begin with. The argument went on for almost 3 days. So I finally just had enough of it and blocked him which got me booted from two groups and started more hearsay. And now it’s either off because it just didn’t sell or because it was unsafe and either way I made both points in the argument. But to blatantly berate a former customer for looking out for you is just bad business. Funny thing is I was actually salty with Johnny Starr over some shells that came with the wrong size for the tube. He offered the right tube, and gave me a sleeve of double trouble…. And I came back. And I’ll recommend him to more people because of that ethic. Giving me a sleeve of double trouble is questionable on the safety side but it was pgi. Eric on the other hand I can’t recommend because I can’t trust that safety is truly at his forefront. I wish I could but unfortunately I can’t.
I'm bummed you posted this comment and surprised. I wish I knew what you meant. Sounds like you have a beef with me. If you do, then I'm sorry. Yes, I am human and make mistakes. I'll own up to it, but this post makes no sense and has no value-added information about this rack. We don't sell anything that has "double sided tape" Maybe you have the wrong company? If you can send me a direct message instead of making false claims that would be better. Derailing this post make no sense.

There is no place for you to rant about something that is unrelated to this video. If you have a beef with a product please go to the company that directly makes the product instead of the re-seller. @@PYROBOOM the issue is the trust. I cannot trust pyroboom to have safety in their mindset over that cardboard stick tape product that was once sold. I don’t have the wrong company I remember correctly. I remember this rhetoric, I remember the deny it and ask for forgiveness later mentality. But we’re in explosives Eric. Let me give you this example. I buy an entire container of 5” display shells. Every one of them blows on the ground. Should I trust that company again? Or should I never trust them again? Based on what I’m supposed to do based on your reply’s I’m supposed to buy 4” display shells from them and hope for the best… I think someone’s permits would be getting pulled pretty quickly over that.
